Whenever an uncomplicated task arises, people say it’s as easy to accomplish as breathing. The adage always made perfect sense to you whenever you heard it. Breathing is second nature. It can be done without having to think twice and, sometimes, it feels like certain tasks are the same way.

Today, that’s not the case. Standing here across from Bucky for the first time in weeks, you find that breathing is anything but easy. The air was knocked out of your lungs as soon as you stumbled upon the note he wrote on the canvas and you haven’t yet recovered. You have to keep reminding yourself to breathe, just breathe. But it’s hard. How are you supposed to remember to inhale and exhale in a moment like this?

“Are you going to say something?” You press, once the silence of the room becomes too unbearable. Your fingers curl tightly around the canvas as you wait for Bucky to speak. “Anything?”

Imagine being Lucifers soulmate

Word count: 2186

Request by: anon - Hi! I was wondering if I could request a Lucifer x reader where Chuck is like “yeah Lucifer has a soulmate duh” so Sam, Dean, Cas, Lucifer, and Chuck all go to find them (Sam and Dean ready for her to be all evil) but they’re super intelligent and sweet? Thank you!!

A/N: Thanks for the request <3

No one’s POV

Sam, Dean, Cas and Chuck were all sat silently in the room thinking of ways in which they could make Lucifer less angry at everything which reduces the risk of him throwing one of his ‘tantrums’ and destroying his brothers and humanity.

“I guess we could find his soulmate,” Chuck spoke out loud breaking the silence causing both Sam and Dean’s heads to shoot up and stare in Chuck’s direction.

“That’s a possibility,” Castiel replied to his father before continuing to look down at the lore book in his hands.

Both Sam and Dean just continued to stare at them in shock. The Lucifer, the very fallen angel which wanted to destroy humanity, had a soulmate, a human soulmate. A long period of silence followed as they were both too frozen to say anything.

“Wait what? Lucifer has a soulmate,” Dean spoke breaking the silence asking the question both him and Sam wanted to ask.

“Yeah Lucifer has a soulmate, duh,” Chuck laughed as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, “I made every angel have a soulmate.”

“Could you take us and Lucifer to her?” Sam asked Chuck steadily and Dean looked at him as if he had just said the most stupid and crazy thing in the world.

“Of course I can,” Chuck replied looking over the small group of people within the room, “It’s just getting Lucifer out of his room and agreeing to the plan that’s going to be the hard part, I don’t think he even knows himself that he has a mate.”

Everyone’s heads drifted to Dean silently, as a group, picking him to be the one to speak to the angry archangel only a few rooms down from them.

“Well I’m not going in there alone with no defence against a moody archangel.” Dean spoke matter-of-factly.

“Who are you calling moody?” A smooth voice called out causing everyone’s heads to shoot over to where the sound came from.

There stood Lucifer leaned against the doorframe with a smug expression covering his face, it was the first time anyone had seen him come out of his designated room almost as if he could sense that the others were talking about him.

“Lucifer, come sit,” Chuck spoke causing Lucifer to pull a face which resembled disgust.

“I’m fine here,” he replied. Lucifer still wasn’t back to being 100% father and son with God (in fact he acted like a teenager) but they seemed to be better than they were when he first got out of the cage and being moody constantly was better to Chuck than his son not talking to him at all.

“Well, what do you all want, I could hear you all thinking my name from my room,” Lucifer spoke into the silent room taking notice of the shocked expressions on the Winchester’s face’s when looking at him.

“Father decided it would be best if took you to see your soulmate.” Castiel informed Lucifer.

Shock was evident on Lucifer’s face for a split moment in time before it returned expressionless to try and hide the emotions he was feeling; it was clear to everyone in the room that he didn’t know he had a soulmate.

“Well, let’s go do that then,” Lucifer spoke calmly yet inside he knew he was excited. After the fall and spending so long in the cage, he had begun to think that his father had not created him a soulmate and was pleasantly surprised to find out that he still had the ability to feel love like his brothers and sisters, “It’s slightly better than doing nothing in my room all day,” he added not wanting anyone in the room to acknowledge his happiness, he still had the reputation of ‘the devil’ to hold.

“That was easier than expected,” mumbled Chuck to both Dean and Sam with a chuckle before raising his hand and clicking sending them all to meet Lucifer’s soulmate.

Your POV

Sighing to yourself, you collapsed onto the sofa, your favourite book in your hand ready to read the night away. The day had been so busy and you hadn’t had a second to relax so you had decided to spend the rest of the night just relaxing, listening to your favourite band and reading. That was until you heard a knocking at the door.

Thinking it was just some hunters coming to you for information you decided to ignore the knocking at the door and continue reading, trying your hardest to relax. They could go to someone else for help, it’s been too long of a day.

The knocking continued so you sighed placing the book down and made your way to the persistent person knocking at your door so late at night.

Shock was evident on your face when you opened the door to 5 men staring at you, two looking slightly scared making you confused as to why they could be here. You slightly backed away from the door in case they were demons (which you doubted highly due to the friendship you had with Crowley, although they could be rouge demons) or any other monster which could have found out you were helping hunters.

Even though you were nervous, your eyes couldn’t help but drift over to the man with blonde hair you just wanted to wrap your hands in and gorgeous blue eyes that you could stare in for eternity, your eyes continued to roam over his body, as did his with yours. You quickly diverted your eyes away from him in case he noticed you checking him out.

“How can I help you lovely men?” you smiled slightly looking at them as a whole.

“We was wondering if we could speak with Y/N,” the guy in the trench coat asked.

“That would be me, please, come in,” you replied, a smile not leaving your face, you nervously watched as they all stepped onto and over the welcome mat which contained a hidden devils trap under it. Your worry slightly lifted when you saw that none of them had gotten stuck. We are demon free, I repeat, demon free you thought to yourself as the men followed you into the kitchen.

“Anybody want a cuppa?” you asked happy that you weren’t in danger, if you were they probably would have tried to attack you by now but you were still cautious just in case.

A chorus of ‘no thank you’s’ was your reply apart from the blonde headed man replying ‘please’ causing all of the other men to look at him as if he had grown another head.

“S-Sure thing,” you cursed yourself for stuttering when talking to him and you felt your cheeks begin to heat up.

You hummed a cheery tune as you quickly spun around and popped the kettle on before making a drink for the both of you. As you handed the mysteriously hot man his drink your fingers collided for a moment and everything felt right like nothing else mattered in that short moment of time but you and him, sparks of electricity running up your arm. Looking up into the man’s crystal blue eyes, you searched for any sign that he had felt the same as you but all you saw was his expressionless face. Quickly, you grabbed onto your drink before sitting down and inviting everybody else to do so.

“So, what is it you guy’s wanted,” you smiled taking a sip of your drink. You had always been a cheerful person, from a very young age up until now and you had always believed that there was too much negativity within the world that you couldn’t possibly contribute to that, so you tried to spread as much joy as possible. It was one of the reasons you started helping hunters with their boring lore work. Lucifer realised that and admired you for it.

“Well, I guess we should introduce ourselves first, shouldn’t we?” the tall long haired man said nudging the person next to him who continued to stare at you like you was some sort of myth or legend.

“Wha- oh yes. Introductions. I’m Dean, that’s…” he paused for a second whilst pointing in the blonde man’s direction, “…Nick?” he said as more of a question, “Chuck, Cas, and this is my little brother Sam.”

It was now your turn to have shock overcome your face. Did you hear them right? Sam and Dean Winchester was in your house, in front of you with the infamous Castiel you had heard so much about. What the heck would they want with you?

“Winchester brothers?” You asked out quietly, surprised that a voice even managed to come out of your mouth.

“Yeah… That’s us, how’d you know?” Sam asked slightly creeped out that you knew who they were.

“Oh come on, every hunter knows about you two,” you stated.

Silence overcame the room as the men processed what you had just said, the only person to show any form of emotion was Nick, a large, proud smirk across his face at the fact you were a hunter.

“Well then, since you know about the supernatural, we can properly introduce ourselves,” Chuck spoke motioning to him and Nick, “I’m God, but I prefer Chuck.”

“Pleasure to meet you Chuck!” You spoke happily sticking out your hand for him to shake, surprising yourself that you didn’t react massively to the fact he had just told you he was the God. He chuckled taking your hand in his, your infectious smile crawling its way onto his face. Everybody then looked in Nicks direction, you saw him nervously fiddling with his hands.

“I, uh, I’m,” he stuttered, a hand reaching to stroke the back of his neck to calm him down as he debated whether or not he should tell you the truth, “I’m Lucifer.”

You smiled and wrapped your arms around him, for some reason it just felt right and both you and Lucifer knew it. He sighed into the hug relaxing instantly when you didn’t freak out over who he was

“Well it’s a pleasure to meet you too Lucifer,” you said into the hug before pulling away from him seeing a smile on his face. The rest of the group seemed shocked at his display of emotion yet Lucifer decided to ignore them and keep smiling at you.

“So,” you spoke suddenly clapping your hands together and reluctantly turning away from Lucifer, “What brings the Winchesters, God and the angels to these neck of the woods.”

Lucifer’s metaphorical heart stopped for a moment when you acknowledged him as an angel, he didn’t think he could possibly fall in love with something as quickly as he was with you.

“You understand the concept of soulmates correct?” Castiel spoke up and you looked over in Lucifer’s direction knowing where the conversation seemed to be heading.

“I do,” you answered Castiel but not taking your eyes off of Lucifer and him not taking his eyes off of you.

“Well, we found out that you are the soulmate of-“

“Lucifer,” you spoke cutting Castiel off. It definitely was the only explanation for the strong attraction you were having for him, it felt as if you had known each other for all eternity.

“Yes, Lucifer is your mate,” Castiel confirmed.

You felt as Lucifer’s hand slid down into yours, fingers locking together causing a grin to appear on both your face and Lucifer’s.

“Okay let’s leave them to it then,” Chuck said shoving the rest of the boys out of the room and throwing a wink at you. Sam and Dean still continued to show shocked expressions at your kindness towards everyone as they were pushed by God out of the room to leave you and Lucifer some privacy to talk.

“Y/N,” Lucifer turned to you and placed a hand on your cheek the other still locked between your fingers, “I know we have only just met, but it feels as if I have been in love with you for eternity.”

“Me too Luci,” you confirmed slightly blushing and ducking your head at the way in which stared lustfully at you.

His hand drifted down to under your chin as he lifted your head to make you look at him. Your eyes locked with his ocean blue ones and it felt as if he was staring directly into your soul. Slowly, with his hand still on your chin, Lucifer leaned down hovering his lips over yours momentarily as your foreheads touched due to how close you were before locking his lips with yours. As cliché as it sounds, you felt butterflies erupt in your stomach when your hand reached up and gripped into his blonde hair. His gentle hand snaked its way around your waist and pulled you closer to his chest as he deepened the kiss. In this moment, wrapped in your soulmate’s arms, feeling the best you had in a while, you knew that you was truly in love as was Lucifer and that he was going to do everything in his power to protect you.

Jungkook x Reader

Genre: Roommate! Jungkook, smut and fluff

Warnings: Slightly Dom!Jungkook

Word count: 7,469 words

You were greeted with the sound of the TV blaring from the living room when you opened the front door of your house. Although he couldn’t see or hear you, it didn’t stop you from letting out a small sigh accompanied with a smile to yourself as you untied your sneakers and put them away neatly on the shoe rack. The thick white socks you wore made your steps quiet.

As you padded into the house, you weren’t surprised to find your roommate sprawled on the floor with his back leaning against the lower half of the couch and his long legs stretched carelessly under the coffee table. He was staring at the show playing on his laptop on the table but you weren’t sure if he was really paying attention to it. At first you opened your mouth to check if he needed a call back to Earth, then you saw the gaggle of men and women sprinting across the screen and gasped.

“JUNGKOOK! How could you?!”

Bucky x reader

Notes: mentions of past trauma, violence, past torture/brainwashing, fluff, smut, discovery of past self.

Summary: when Bucky’s in hiding in Romania, he finds a girl he’s sure needs his protection. He doesn’t remember who gave him the mission; but he’s so sure some one gave it to him. After setting it all up, he notices that there’s more to this girl than meets the eye. She might need him watching over her more than he initially thought.

(This takes place after TWS and before CW)

A/N: Hi guys! It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything; I just had to get something out there. Part two will be here soon, there might be more parts after that, because I have an open ending atm. (I do love me some open endings now and then)

He doesn’t know who she is. He doesn’t know why she’s important, but she is. He knows the only thing that matters is that she’s safe. It’s his mission to protect her from all harm, to make sure she lives her life however she wants, without any disturbance. Often he tries to remember who it was that gave him this mission; maybe it was Pierce, maybe Rumlow, which would indirectly mean it’d have been Pierce. Or maybe it was the Captain. The last time he saw the Captain was about a year ago, before he ran to try and get all of these things floating around in his mind in order. He’d listen to the Captain. He used to, he thinks. Before his commander was Pierce; even before it was Karpov. He sometimes imagines that the Captain was good to him, and the others.. Were there others? He thinks so.

It’s Hard Enough - Cooper!Reader X Jughead Jones

Hi love! Could I please request a fluffy Riverdale imagine where the reader is Betty’s little sister by a year who receives the same pressure from their mom, but hides it well from her sister and everyone else, when she is actually completely overwhelmed and stressed out to the point where she’s having an anxiety attack and Jughead or Veronica helps her?

Just because I love him, I chose a Jughead x Reader prompt. But, anon, if you want one with Veronica please message me!!! And maybe…if you want a Part Two (?)

It’s hard enough being a Freshman at Riverdale High, but you had an amazing older sister who put your mother’s standard too high. Betty is an amazing sister and you love her, it’s just that everyone loves her. After Polly went away and Jason went missing, things started to go further down hill for you. Your mother put unneeded pressure on both you and Betty, but Betty handled so much better. She broke free from your mother’s poisonous ways and started doing things for herself. This left you alone with the overbearing woman and no where to go. You managed to hide the damage your mother was inflicting upon you quite well. So well in fact that your sister and her friends thought you were just fine. The first day back to school, that changed.

“That’s really great Archie!” Betty said, shooting the redhead the most adorable heart eyes. You nodded in agreement as you listened to Archie's’ music demo. You were about to speak up when everyone at the lunch table turned their heads. “Can I sit?”

You turned and saw a very pretty Sophomore standing near the table. “Veronica! Yeah, sit!” Betty said, giving her a sweet smile. Kevin moved over, allowing you to make room for the girl to sit next to you. “What song is that? It’s really good but I haven’t heard it before.”

“It’s Archie’s demo.” You said, and the girl looked at you in confusion. Betty laughed, “Sorry, Veronica, this is my little sister Y/N. Y/N this is Veronica, she just moved here from New York.” Veronica gave you a kind smile and a hello which you tried to copy as best you could. You just weren’t feeling it today. Veronica must’ve picked up on it because her eyebrows furrowed slightly. “Yeah, I thought we’d have to pretend to like it but, it’s actually really great.” Kevin said causing Archie to smile softly. You smiled a little too, happy that at least one person you knew was doing something good in their lives. “You are alright?” Veronica asked while Kevin and Betty discussed Archie’s future in the music business. You just turned to look at her and with no answer, you got up and left the table. You felt tears gathering behind your eyes as you walked past Cheryl Blossom’s table, you heard someone in their group mutter “freak” and you suddenly were pushed over the edge. You picked up your pace and walked quickly back inside the school. You darted towards the nearest bathroom. You felt eyes on you and saw the Sophomore from your writing class watching you. You just walked faster to the bathroom and when inside, you locked yourself in a stall. The weight of everything that had occurred was finally crashing down on you and it was hitting hard. You felt light headed as your mind replayed the conversation of the future you had with your mom, the pressure for success she put on you because God forbid she had another broken daughter. Veronica’s simple question brought all of it back, the family drama that occurred with Polly and then Jason’s disappearance. You were far from alright, but the thought of telling someone that felt more scary than the pressure itself.

You managed to pull yourself together enough where you stopped crying, and got ready for your next period. When you would see your sister and her friends in the hall, you’d just say you had a stomach cramp or pain and went to the nurse. They’d question you and Veronica would be skeptical, but you’d smile and lie your way through the day.

You told Betty that you had a group project due in a few days and that your group was meeting up at Pop’s. Of course, being the good sister she is, let you go off on your own. “Just text me when you get there and when you need a ride, okay?” You nodded and gave her a fake smile. “I love you Y/N, be safe!” You walked off towards the diner, happy that now you didn’t have to go home for a little while longer.

The diner was basically empty, minus a few usual patrons. You ordered some fries and sat in a booth in the corner. You looked outside the window and saw the rain drops fall against the glass. It was a soothing distraction, taking your mind off the current situation just for a few precious moments. The silence was interrupted by someone sitting in the empty side of the booth. You turned your head quickly and saw the quiet Sophomore from early today. You just stared at him and his odd hat, and he stared at you just the same. “You’re Y/N Cooper, I saw you earlier today in school. We have Writing class together.” You nodded, suddenly getting nervous. “You’re Jughead Jones.” You said, equally as monotone as he did. “I’m not normally one for caring, but what happened today, right before lunch ended?” You swallowed hard at his question, and he saw your unease. “You looked very, very upset, that’s why I ask.” You felt a tear slide down your cheek at his sudden kindness. You wiped it away as quickly as it had appeared. “Everything going on it’s…taking a toll on me, but I’m-” You stopped talking, not trusting your own voice to continue. Jughead seemed to notice and didn’t say a word. He just waited until you composed yourself and continued. “I’m,” you looked into his eyes for a split moment and saw that there was no fooling him, “not fine.”

You found yourself opening up, just a little, to the mysterious boy before you. You mentioned the pressure your mother put you under, that derived from what occurred with Polly and Jason. From there, he started to talk about the summer, the Blossom twins, and how he remembered your older sister. “Polly was very nice. Said ‘hi’ to me even when I didn’t even look at her.”

“That was the type of girl she was.” You said, trailing off. You missed your eldest sister and you knew that Betty did as well. “Maybe,” Jughead started, slightly hesitant, “you should talk to your sister Betty more.” You stared at him quietly as he continued, “If she was under the same pressure she might be able to help you deal with it. It’s just an idea.” He said, and you felt your lips twitch up into a small smile. “Thank you.” Your phone screen flickered on and you saw the time. You hurriedly got out of the booth and stood. “My sister is going to be here soon.” He nodded, and made his way out of his side of the booth. “I’ll walk you out.”

The two of you waited under the rain-guard outside the diner in a calm silence. For some reason you turned and saw him looking at you. “You don’t have to stay. You’ve done enough for me.” He shook his head and looked towards the ground, a small smile played on his lips. “I’m just going to leave you alone when you feel this down.” You nodded, your heart beating a bit faster than before. “Thank you, again.” You whispered quietly, he turned to face you once more. “If you ever need to talk, to someone that isn’t your sister, you can find me in the library at lunch time.” You gave him a soft smile once more and saw the headlights coming from down the road.

“I’ll see you around, Jughead.” You murmured, but he caught your hand before you walked away. “I hope you smile more.” He said in a hushed tone as he slipped a piece of paper into your hand. You looked a his face, his gaze hidden slightly by his dark hair. He pulled away and with one last glance, walked back inside the diner. You darted to Betty’s car through the rain and shuddered when you got inside.

“Get buckled.” She said, “How’d the group project go?” As you finished buckling your safety belt, you turned back to the diner and saw Jughead typing away at a laptop through the window. From a distance, it looked, almost like, he was smiling. You turned to face forward and sighed. “It went pretty well.”

7 minutes in heaven

Pairing: Pietro Maximoff x Reader

Summary: The party people wants you and Pietro together because everyone but you two knew each other’s feelings.

Warnings: Heated kissing?

A/N: Feedback is love.

Alcohol and food always meant trouble at the Stark Tower, especially on Fridays when everyone had had enough of an extenuating week of researching and short missions. The team wanted to have a party; one like the old times. One in which someone ended up naked or going at it with another team member.

Tony and Natasha had it all set up; they had prepared everything from Monday that week until they realized what was missing. They weren’t the kind of people who put much thought into their feelings, and they didn’t like when others pondered too long about the dos and don’ts regarding other people. (Y/N) was one of those.

In endless conversations, she had spoken to both of them about what she felt for the speedster, Pietro Maximoff and how confused she was because she wasn’t sure if his behavior towards her was a sign of what he felt.

And Pietro was another boring conversation they hated to have, although it wasn’t very often that the Sokovian decided to open up his heart with other person than his sister, who was troubled enough to feel something for a “man” who was not really aware of what feelings were, but she went along with it, unlike her brother.

Night time had arrived, and the Avengers had a few drinks on them; they were all relaxed thanks to the countless beers and shots available. Natasha broke the laughter with a few simple words.

“Shall we play a game?” The redhead smiled wickedly. The team cheered up, but little did they know what her idea was. “I was thinking that maybe we could play 7 minutes in heaven?”

“How old are you, Romanoff?” Clint teased. She glared at him.

“I say we could use the fun.” Tony backed Nat. “Besides, everyone loves a hook up.”

The discussion didn’t last long, and while Natasha and Tony went to set up the papers, Wanda came closer to both of them. She helped them quietly until she saw what they were up to. There were lots of papers with Pietro’s and (Y/N)’s name and it didn’t take long for her to realize their true intentions.

“You know;” she said as she folded the papers; “if you want to set my brother and (Y/N) up, you could’ve asked instead of killing so many trees.” Her voice was calmed, but it still had a taint of a silly giggle in it. She smiled at them as her eyes turned red and the threads of energy moved the papers to the hats.

“So them being together doesn’t bother you?” Natasha asked, cocking an eyebrow in disbelief. “I mean, your face isn’t very cheerful when they’re together. No offense, but it looks like you truly hate them.”

“Not taken,” the brunette woman giggled, “but it’s the problem with my face, Pietro says the same thing. Anyway—“she shook her head—“do you want the help or not?” The older avengers nodded, and now the three were onto something.

The first ones to go were Steve and Natasha, and by the flush on her cheeks, she surely received something good. Steve licked his lips lusciously and sat as if nothing ever happened. Then, it was Pietro’s turn to draw a paper. Wanda tricked the hat and when Pietro unfolded the cutout, it was (Y/N)’s name on it. Tony, Natasha and the witch shared a meaningful look and tried not to laugh at the terrible coincidence.

(Y/N) took Pietro’s hand and seductively looked at him; he bit his bottom lip and followed her to the closet. She turned on the lights inside it and sat on the ottoman that Tony kept. They stayed in silence, stealing looks from one another and turning their heads away when their eyes met. (Y/N) groaned and threw her head back onto the wall.

“Do we use this time to make out or we’re gonna keep quiet?” Pietro teased from the other side of the closet.

“I don’t know,” (Y/N) shrugged, “but now that you mention it… can we have a little talk?” He nodded a silent reply. “Do you like me? I mean, are you trying to flirt with me because you like me or because you wanna fuck me?”

“Both.” He snickered. “Haven’t I been explicit?”

“Not really.” (Y/N) shook her head. “And it’s been awfully confusing, Piet.” She sighed deeply. “I don’t wanna be another one of your hook ups, I believe I deserve more than that.”

Pietro whooshed to (Y/N)’s position and placed his hands on both sides of her body. She tensed immediately when the speedster’s lips were too close to hers. Inside her chest, her heart beat like crazy and she couldn’t stop looking up to those bright blue eyes that were almost intimidating. His hot breath brushed her face and in a split second, his mouth molded with hers in a perfect kiss.

(Y/N) cupped his face in her hands and Pietro quickly, and effortlessly, picked her up and he sat on the ottoman instead. She straddled his lap and gently rocked her hips to get more friction. Pietro’s lips parted from (Y/N)’s and he kissed down her jawline and stopped on her pulse point to suck a bruise.

Her heart was beating so fast that Pietro could feel its rhythm under his lips. She moaned softly when his teeth sunk on her skin and his strong hands played with the hem of her top, but before they could get any more excited, the doors were flew open with several heads peering inside. The two were cut off by a group of nosy avengers, whose faces showed how happy they were.

“Those weren’t 7 minutes.” (Y/N) shook her head in annoyance.

“Printsessa,” Pietro whispered to her hear softly, “I believe we spent two or threw just looking at each other and talking.” Then, he placed a soft kiss on her cheek and helped her up again.

They left the closet holding hands while the most eager ones, Natasha, Tony and Wanda, cheered up on them and their new accomplishment.

This was your usual sanctuary, whether you had a spare or had to stay late after school: the library. When you didn’t feel like socializing or just breathing people’s air, this place was where you would retreat. It was always quiet here, the friendly old librarian knew your face out of the hundreds of students that had come and go by now. You even started helping her with the book returns, which was the least you could do.

The massive bookshelves lined the library like pantheon partitions, each strewn with worlds you could escape into. You lightly smiled as you ran your fingers down the spines of the new books of the literature section as you thought, ‘do I feel like the classics today?’ taking slow steps between two shelves.

A figure walked past the shelves in your peripherals and you reflexively glanced towards the movement. For a split second, you saw a new face and met eyes, ‘never seen him around here before’, you wondered. He was lackadaisically pushing a wooden cart of books slowly assessing the signs when he made eye contact with you, his eyes lighting up for a moment before turning away to his path down the aisles. You couldn’t deny his uniform suited him well, and you were almost interested enough to want to go and speak to him. He had an intriguing aloofness that drew you to him, an impressive talk in his walk, as if every breathing entity worshiped the ground he walked on and more.

You shrugged the thoughts off and went back to perusing through the shelf, where you finally came across a potential book: Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka in hardcover. You reached for it excitedly and began to tug it out when you noticed some unusual resistance. You tugged at it a little harder but the book wouldn’t budge. In fact it was being pulled further the opposite direction–someone else was trying to grab it.

With minimal effort, the opposing force finally yanked Kafka out of your grasp.

“Hey!” You sharply whispered at the person on the other side of the shelf. You could only see a glimpse of a person’s broad chest shifting lower until you came face to face with him, the gap between the bookshelf being the only distance, ‘wooden cart guy’. You felt red in your cheeks for a moment from his handsome features being so close, but reverted back to frustration for your book. His doe eyes just stared back at you, eyebrows slightly in a curious raise, waiting. He knew what he was doing though, the game of cat and mouse had already begun for him. You just thought he grabbed the book by chance, despite your taking hold of it first.

“I’m sorry, did you want this?” he asked with a smug tone, a subtle smirk forming on his lips before relaxing again. You rolled your eyes and felt your shoulders tense, ‘someone hold me back from this boy’

“Yeah, so if I could have it back now,” You whispered with a hiss before giving him your best intimidating glare, “that’d be great.”

His mouth merely paused, then spread into a big smile, exposing his bunny teeth, before cracking up in a cheeky giggle with crinkles forming around his eyes, “Cute. Was that supposed to be your serious face?”

“Well—” The red came back to your cheeks and you darted your gaze away, straightening up from the book shelf as well. You crossed your arms impatiently, unsure of what to say until you held out your hand across the gap and mumbled out the words, “Just– can I–may I please have the book?” Who were you kidding? You were never any good at confrontation, why else would you spend time in the library with every chance you got. This was your safe place, your routine, calm and quiet. Not to mention, the person you’d run into was this mysterious and attractive new character in your domain; otherwise your comfort zone.

Expecting the cool surface of a paperback to touch the palm of your hand, you’re taken aback when you receive something much smaller, rounder. You pulled your hand back to find a peculiar gadget in your hand, no bigger than an inch, black and oval-like. You examine the thing, perplexed, keeping your hand open, fixated and confused as to why this stranger would hand you the thing. You looked back at him through gaps of the bookshelf and were about to ask what is was when he suddenly cleared his throat and fixed his posture. His voice was a murmur beyond the book shelf, complacent and smoothly averting you from your curiosity, “Alright, how 'bout I check you out?”

“Pardon?!” your voice remained in a whisper with your face scrunched from a mix of panic and confusion. 'I get it brain, he’s cute, and his low voice to keep from disrupting the serenity of the library was a little to-die-for, but get it together.’ your mind flooded with yellow flags.

“The book. Let’s check it out.” His voice was both firm yet polite but his playful smirk kept you on guard. He was pleased to see you stumbling over your words, unsure of your next move. He disappeared from the bookshelf gap, and so you quickly followed.

'He totally meant for me to take that the wrong way,’ disinterested, you slumped along before halting at the wooden semi-oval counters of the main library desk. This boy was definitely trying to tug you out of your comfort zone, and you weren’t having it.

“Mrs. Kim never had an assistant besides me in here,” You said as you idly rolled a pencil back and forth, trying to make up for the previous weakness in your manner by making small talk.

“I’m what you’d call a-–compulsory volunteer,” he said casually giving you a smile that flaunted more flirtation than a usual approachable geniality. “You’ll be seeing me around for a while, so I’m Jungkook. You are?”

'So you caused too much trouble, and now you’re being forced to work here,’ you thought to yourself before replying with your name bluntly. Your eyes wandered as he typed your name into the system. The computer buzzed and beeped, finally an error window popped up on the screen. Jungkook hid a slight curve of his mouth to the side, 'Just according to plan’, he thought. You were too focused on appearing nonchalant that you didn’t catch it.

“Ah tsk tsk, Ms. Y/N, I can’t check you out,“ he started,'stop wording it like that’ your inner voice fumed, and you could hear an exiguous enjoyment in his voice. “You have an overdue book: Demian.”

You were dumbfounded, you could have sworn you had returned it just before your spare ended the other day. You jerk your bag over your shoulder, rustling through it, your brows tinged with concern. It wasn’t in there. All the while, Jungkook watched on leaning back on the chair with arms crossed behind his head, amused by how easily unsettled you had become over a negligible matter. He couldn’t help but feel compelled to play with you more.

You looked back up to the boy, who smiled like a toddler hardly containing a secret. You immediately grew skeptical.

“I mean, I could just get the system to think you gave it back so you can take this book out and you could find the real book later,” He talked like a pompous businessman making a proud pitch but you listened anyway. “That is if–” He dragged the last word.

'Don’t say it’, You thought raising your brow tapping a finger incessantly on the counter and braced yourself for the incoming request for a date or even sleazier.

“You keep the gift I gave you,” he ended his note with a bright goofy smile, awaiting your response.

You were caught off guard by the unexpected offer. You let out a deep breath to keep your cool before you gave him a casual smile with undertones of confusion and reluctance. It sounded like a harmless request to you so you immediately wanted to agree but something in the pit of your stomach rolled with doubt, “That’s it?”

He nodded coolly before turning the chair back to the screen, looking like he was attending to other "compulsory volunteer” work. You stood there, feet rocking back and forth from heel to toe, unsure of why the request seemed dangerous. Deep in contemplation, you gave the corner of your bottom lip a little tug with your teeth. You had no idea of what the little device was, was it safe to just accept it for a book? Jungkook cleared his throat, eliciting you to lift your gaze back up to him. You couldn’t tear from Jungkook’s gaze, he seemed to be reeling you effortlessly out of your comfort zone, putting you in a trance strong enough for the word to escape easily from your docile lips “Okay.”

You didn’t know why but your heart pounded against your chest after uttering the one simple word, and you felt your throat had dried a bit. Maybe because part of you did know what it was, what it could be, and part of you wanted out of the comfort zone you had so meticulously carved for yourself through the library. Jungkook smiled before handing you his phone, earning an “Eh?” from you, some releasing some tension from the precedent silence.

“I’ll need your number for affirmation that you still have it,” he joked but something in his voice made it sound like more of a command. You submitted, because the request seemed admittedly harmless enough. What’s the worst that could come from giving this guy my number? You pick up the phone from the counter, your movement almost painfully slow in not wanting to show how much your hands were shaking. When you glanced at Jungkook, a cheeky innocent smile was plastered on his face, encouraging you to follow through.

*Save Contact*

Your phone screen blinked on, new message. It was already five past midnight, your friends knew your nose was deep in a book at this time and knew not to bug you so it captured you attention. You stopped your reading and unlocked the phone to see that it was from an unsaved number.

(555)-221-2858 - 12:05 AM - :
Taking good care of my gift? -JK

You glanced over at your bag, you hadn’t taken it out since your exchange at the library, and suddenly the pit in your stomach that had vanished upon leaving the library came back. The strong sense of uncertainty and willingness to your adhere to your new acquaintance was foreign to you. Finally, you typed a reply,

(Y/N) - 12:06 AM :
still in my bag, safe and sound i guess?

You stared tantalizingly at the three dots as he began typing moments after you had sent your text.

Jungkook - 12:06 AM :
that’s not where a gift should be kept you know :(

Your head tilted with intrigue, 'And what could you be inciting, Jungkook?’

(Y/N) - 12:07 AM :
so where do you suppose i should keep it?

This time the three dots took a little longer to appear, and you were annoyed at yourself, caught waiting for some strange boy’s text. He seemed to be typing forever but really, not more than a minute had passed. Part of you was craving any kind of conversation with him, and you couldn’t place why.

Jungkook - 12:10 AM :
only the rightful place that specific gift should be

Jungkook - 12:12 AM :
your panties

Your body tensed up in reading his last text, but you oddly weren’t disgusted. This wasn’t coming from some greased up, saggy-jeaned, prepubescent, axe-reeking teenage boy. This was coming from Jungkook, the compulsory volunteer with the bright bunny smile, an assertive walk in his talk, and apparently an authoritative hold of your inhibitions. This was what part of you guessed the gift was for, but it was such a small (hopeful) voice, it may as well had not been there at all. You type and barely construct a reply with enough sense to knock down this boy’s smug demeanor.

(Y/N) - 12:15 AM :
i don’t understand why a gift should have business anywhere near there.

Jungkook had a small smile at the corners of his lips as he read your replies, 'Even through your texts, I can see right through you, (Y/N)’

Jungkook - 12:17 AM :
come to school with the gift the way i want it and i’ll make you understand.

In pressing send, Jungkook was already certain of your next mood, he could feel your curiosity, your wonder, your desire to be driven out of your sanctuary away from the safety of peace and quiet, and he was more than happy to be doing the driving. Meanwhile, you were succumbing to the insane suggestion, something about the words “i’ll make you” staring back at you from the brightly lit screen. You replied nearly five minutes later after being torn between putting down and picking up the phone to type.

(Y/N) - 12:22 AM :
i’m going to sleep gnight

At nearly 1 am, you hopped onto your bed, your bag at your feet, the gift still waiting for you. You needlessly look to your door to ensure lights were off, and that everyone was asleep. Before you knew it, your hand reached for the bag.

Between classes, you returned the book after realizing you’d placed it back in its shelf instead of turning it in the book-return bin. Having no time left, you caught yourself scanning the library for a familiar tall, brown-haired figure. You shook your head and rushed to your English class.

To your surprise, Jungkook was the first person you saw upon entering the classroom. 'I would have noticed you before,’ you thought as you watched him walking over to his desk after talking to a friend. He seemed like any regular student, approachable and humourous. That is, until he looked over to you, and the familiar glint was back in his eyes, and he gave you a casual knowing smile and nod. His eyebrow seemed to raise as if to ask you if you had the gift as he directed. You licked your lips subconsciously, noticing they had dried and swallowed, about to nod, before stopping yourself to walk to your seat instead.

You begin pulling out the essentials, when your phone lights up in your bag, and you take it out to find a new message notification. You swiped with little hesitance.

Jungkook - 10:23 AM :
I can find out for myself you know

A stubborn nature grumbled in you, or more just the urge to challenge the boy to push you further.

(Y/N) - 10:24 :
I wouldn’t give you the satisfaction.

Jungkook looked up from his phone to look over to you. You were in the second row, in the middle of the room, and he was only a row behind, a few seats down from you. He could find out with a clear viewpoint of the show. He began typing again.

Jungkook 10:28 AM :
pay close attention in class, (Y/N)

After reading his last text, your brows furrowed and you put the phone away as your teacher walked in.

With a keenly hidden smirk, Jungkook reached into his pocket, the teacher’s lesson was the last thing on his mind.

Your phone lit up, and you reflexively hide it under the table, to check what Jungkook could possibly be up to now.

Jungkook - 10:55 AM :
:)

'A smiley face? What kind of–’ *Click*

'What is this?’ your entire body flexed, you instantly sat up straight, your hands gripping at the edges of your desk. Your legs coiled around the legs of your chair. You felt your chest having to rise and fall noticeably, as the room seemed to be getting warmer. The pencil in your hand trembled and you blinked a long two seconds as your mind processed the sensation between your thighs. Your breathing, labored, as you struggled to keep your voice in check and your expression stoic. All the while, Jungkook tilted his head to better see your newly discovered distress. He bit his lip to see the way you squeezed your thighs together, desperately crossing your ankles; the way you gripped on the desk like your life depended on it; and the way your lips slightly parted to reveal the most subtle pant. He licked his lips at the sight, and stealthily wrapped his hand over his bulge, squeezing slightly before adjusting it.

Jungkook’s gift was nestled in the middle of your lining, pressing, no, vibrating against your clit, at an unforgiving fervent pace. The sudden stimulation had you almost jumping out of your seat, catching you completely off guard. Your felt your lungs cave in upon realizing the teacher had been calling your name, directing you to the projector, repeating his question,

“What does the glass ceiling represent, (Y/N)?” he didn’t look impressed by your getting distracted from the lesson.

Jungkook’s devious smile peaked the surface once more with a slight chuckle as he looked over at what you’d do. You squinted at the screen, composing yourself, pushing yourself to pretend that the rush of pleasure wasn’t coursing through every nerve in your body, emanating from your core.

“The glass ceiling,” you began sounding more shy than vulgar, “is an abstract barrier that prevents–” *Click* You gasped abruptly, catching more of your classmates’ attention, and receiving concerned stares. The vibrating grew more intense, pushing you closer to the edge. Your could barely hide the frantic look in your eyes as you attempted to continue.

“Prevents women from attaining higher positions in a hierarchy,” You practically had no spaces between the words as you tried your hardest to finish your answer in one breath. Some slight relief washed over you, lifting some pressure off your shoulders. ‘Goddammit Jungkook’

The teacher raised a skeptical brow at you, cleared his throat, and returned to the lesson after affirming that your answer was correct. The class proceeded to slowly revert back to the regular classroom atmosphere, their attention no longer on you, excluding the few lingering looks. You proceeded to look as normal and unfazed as you could until the last of the stares and murmurs had died down.

You glanced at Jungkook who flashed you an innocent smile, and your panicked glance turned into a glare. In an instant, the innocent smile had vanished, and you felt your pussy quivering at the sight of his tongue gliding along his bottom lip, and biting down, adding a tint of red in his lips. He batted his eyes, inviting, challenging you, before reaching his hand into his pocket again. *Click*

You’re flooded with waves of impassioned gratification, you could swear that if you weren’t in the middle of a classroom, your eyes would be rolled up to a close by now. Your converse scuffled against the tiled floor, toes curling and feet sliding to straighten your legs. You bit harder on your lip, a quiet moan escaping the restraints of your willpower. You looked back at Jungkook, to beg him to stop the agonizing bliss. At this point, you were getting so close to an extreme high that you’d an impatient longing for, you didn’t know whether you wanted him to stop or turn the intensity of the convulsions even more.

His eyes were glued to you, getting more and more turned on with the way you were getting off to his gift. He longed to kiss that flushed face, bury his face between your legs, and pull your hair as he pounded mercilessly into you while the toy vibrated against your clit. He wanted to hear the greed in your moans after giving you orgasm after orgasm until you became addicted to his touch; until you wanted nothing more than to have him inside you.

As he fantasized, keeping his eyes fixated on you with his bulging becoming increasingly visible, you kept his gaze. You imagined his strong hand pinning your arms over your head against the wall, his other hand wrapped around your throat with a grip rough and gentle enough to allow a generous breath in and out of your lungs, as he ravaged your dripping heat. The vibrator was so intense and you had become so wet, you could feel it slipping between your lips and touching your clit directly. The rush made your entrance quiver and your grip on the table made your knuckles white. Your breathing became choppy, stopping completely as you felt you were only a moment before reaching the carnal climax. Being in the middle of a classroom with the high risks of being noticed only added to the thrill. You closed your eyes, jaw dropped ajar, keeping your pants light and silent. Just a little more, the friction against your clit drove you over the edge, you were going to come, so your eyes fluttered open to look over at Jungkook again. Whatever resolve you had before was no where to be found. All that mattered to you was the sweet release, and Jungkook gave you a knowing look before slowly inching his fingers to his pocket one last time.

You stared, bracing yourself, biting your tongue, anything you could do to prevent letting out a most embarrassing moan as you climaxed in the middle of all your unsuspecting classmates.

*Click*

“Eh?” you freeze, you could feel your body wincing in disappointed. The vibrating came to a complete stop, the sensation gone leaving you in a whole other level of hopeless torment. So close, small tears had welled up in your eyes as you looked over weakly to Jungkook, who gave you only a wink.

“That son of a bitch,” you cursed under your breath that you couldn’t deny sounded more like a sensual whine.

A/N : I may have completely changed the direction of this story as well as the theme. Idk i just didn’t feel the the original had enough sexual tension, not enough sin at all. Decided to fix that, hope you enjoyed, I’ll be here washing off with a dab of holy water because this is just the tip of the iceberg

DDHTK Masterlist

“Nervous?”

You turned your attention towards Rosita as she drove and let out a deep sigh, “How can I not be when we’re headed out on an assassination plan? Without my dad even knowing…” you told her before looking out the window once more.

It was noon when Rosita told you that it was going to be the big day. Rick and the rest were out to prepare for the upcoming war with the Saviors, so it was probably the only time that you and Rosita could head out without being questioned.

“We’re not messing up, we can’t.” it was all that Rosita said.

The fact that you were out on a top-secret mission wasn’t the only thing bothering you. It was of course, the entire plan that Rosita came up with. She wanted to kill Negan and you, of all people, agreed to help her out. You chose to side with your family, it was the right thing for you to do but for some reason, it felt so wrong.

Part 1

Part 2

Part 4

Part 5

You absolutely hated the idea of getting a tutor when you didn’t even need it. Your grades were excelling in the challenging environment, yet the teacher decided to act presumptively and assign you with a tutor, who happened to be the best in the class.

It was Peter Parker, someone you’d probably not notice if he wasn’t your tutor. After meeting him, he was almost inserted into your life and you welcomed him. If it weren’t for the stupid tutoring sessions your teacher made you do. You scowled at the book the two of you were looking at. “This is pointless. I have an A in all my classes!”

Peter smiled crookedly at you before looking back down to his book and mentioning in a casual tone, “You transferred to a completely different school in sophomore year. Not to mention, this school is for geniuses. Most transfers need a tutor.”

Glancing up at him, you added stubbornly, “I’m not a normal transfer.”

“Can’t say you are, Y/N Y/L/N,” Peter responded with a small smirk as he continued to talk about Computer Science. So, you weren’t a fan of people knowing who exactly you were. It’s not like any of your records said anything about your last name being Stark, and that means you weren’t technically lying about your father.

Withholding information isn’t lying. You just wanted a normal high school experience and, although you mended things with your dad, you didn’t want people to think that he got you into the school so you couldn’t handle it. Yes, he got you into the school, but that was just a stepping stone. You were trying your hardest to absorb all the information being thrown at you.

Not to mention the tensions at the Avengers Compound. Due to Sokovia and recent government problems, the team was rather split over the issue. You didn’t want the government to control the Avengers, but you knew the civilian deaths were a serious issue with Tony. Besides, he was set on keeping you out of the conflict itself. It still hurt to see the team you loved so much falling apart.

Yet another thing to worry about is Peter. He’s been very tired lately and he’s been trying to blame it on the schoolwork and late nights. What Peter doesn’t know is that sometimes, if his sleeve is rolled up slightly, you’ll see occasional bruises and cuts. You immediately thought that he got himself involved in something that he shouldn’t be involved in, but you dismissed the idea.

It’s Peter after all. He couldn’t have gotten in that much trouble. He was just a sweet, albeit slightly dorky, guy. There are so many things he could do, but Peter knows when to avoid a bad situation. That’s how he managed to stop the major bullying from Flash.

Little did you know, Peter was looking at you and noticing how tired you seemed. After the tutoring session, he asked if you were okay. Since you couldn’t tell him that the stress of civil war was keeping you up, you simply smiled and stated, “I’ve just been worried lately. You know, because of all the crime lately.”

Concern flashed through his eyes and Peter wondered, “Has something happened?”

“No, not at all. I’m just a bit nervous.”

You began to walk away, but Peter stopped you and said, “I could walk you home.” He wanted to stop by as Spiderman and keep an eye out, but he had no idea where you lived.

Raising your eyebrow, you simply declined, “No thanks. I’m waiting for my dad anyway. Besides, I don’t want you staying up late tonight because of homework.” To hide your obvious lie, you said the last part as if you were a worried mother.

“Thanks, Mom,” he teased before continuing, “Okay. See you tomorrow, Y/N!” You were surprised that he just dropped the conversation, but shrugged it off and continued to walk.

Peter almost ran home so he could get his schoolwork done before his night roaming began. His mind went over the conversation with you. He was still concerned over you losing sleep and decided to see if he could find your address off the school directory.

It hadn’t been updated yet, so you weren’t there. Peter hesitated until he finally just typed your name into a search bar. Yes, he knew that this was slightly creepy, but it was good intentions, right?

Not much came up for your name. Miscellaneous things appeared like some awards you won at your old school. It wasn’t until he stumbled on an article that had recanted its statement. There were some photos of you, leaving what was Stark Towers. No one had any idea why you were there. Tony Stark had replied to the author that your mother was a friend of his and he had given you a summer internship.

You knew Tony Stark? Peter’s eyes widened and his mind raced. Why hadn’t you told him? You knew how much Peter looked up to Tony Stark. Maybe he could casually bring it up in conversation. He groaned slightly to himself, realizing he’d have to explain how he had stumbled upon an obscure article about you. That would seem creepy probably.

Groaning again, he closed the browser and shut his laptop. Of course he found out something about you, but Peter had no idea where you lived. All dreams of protecting you dissipated and reality came crashing back. You’d never like him. You’re just hanging out with him because Peter’s your tutor and one of the only people you knew at Midtown.

When the battle between Avengers was inevitable, you almost shut down in on yourself. Peter was extremely worried for you. Was the transition to Midtown hard? Your grades weren’t suffering, so it couldn’t be that bad. You told him a bit about your old school, and never in a nostalgic way.

Maybe it was personal? It shocked Peter at how little he knew about you. Sure, you met Peter that year, but it’s been a while since you first met him. He would have thought to at least know what your family was like. Some little comment about your mother or father.

You said nothing about your family. Maybe it was a family issue. He stared at you as you did your work. Peter was supposed to be tutoring, but he was too distracted by the dark circles under your eyes, signifying a consistent poor sleep schedule, something Peter knew all too well. He would look over at you from time to time, wishing he could do something.

The Avengers Compound seemed practically empty without everyone there. Wanda was shipped off to another compound, where Steve and Clint broke her out. Natasha stayed, but seemed distant as well. You silently did your homework on the counter in the kitchen when Tony walked in. He paused at your appearance. The Accords and everything had distracted him from your wellbeing. You obviously looked stressed over the upcoming battle.

He cleared his throat. You looked over your shoulder quickly, relaxing when you saw Tony. Walking over and placing a hand on your shoulder, Tony said in a reassuring tone, “You’re keeping up with the work perfectly. Once you’re done your homework, I want you in bed asleep.”

Simply nodding, you noticed his car keys in his hands and asked, “Are you going somewhere, Dad?”

“Recruiting the new Spider-kid,” he answered nonchalantly, “I’ll just pick up some dinner afterwards so don’t wait up.” Tony left you all by your lonesome, so you turned on some music while you did your homework.

About thirty minutes later, you felt your phone buzz on the table. Seeing it was Peter, you looked at it, not expecting much. It read, “Hey, I’m going to need you to collect my homework for the next few days.”

“Why?” you responded.

“I got an internship for Tony Stark!” You looked at the text in shock when another text came through from Peter. “By the way, anything you want to tell me?”

A strangled noise escaped from your mouth as the realization set in. FRIDAY immediately powered up and the voice resonated from the ceiling, “Miss Stark, I am unaware of that sound. Is everything okay?”

“He’s Spiderman!” you yelled at the AI.

“I am confused,” FRIDAY continued, “Is there a spider in the room?”

We Are Family

Lance Week Day One: Family

So I know I’m cutting it extremely close, but I was at work today. Anyways, here’s my first entry for Lance Week. Enjoy!!

Lance was a middle child, so he was used to being the one who kept the peace between everyone. He was also used to being left out of things a lot. Too young to hang with his older sibling, and too old to play with his younger ones. This is how he often found himself among the adults in his family. They found it cute how he’d like to sit with them and join their conversations about politics, sports, and religion. It was this reasons his parents placed a lot of responsibilities on him. Watch your younger siblings while we’re at work, keep your older ones from fighting, make sure everyone eats if we’re late, clean up the place before bed. It was a lot of work placed on his small little shoulders, but one of his greatest fears was disappointing his parents. So, he’d just grin and bear it.

When he joined the Galaxy Garrison, he didn’t really have to look out for anyone but himself, and his best friend Hunk of course. It was so liberating not having so many responsibilities and worries like he did back home. No one expected too much from him, and since the groups were separated by age he was just right to hang out with everyone. Not too young and not too old. It was perfect. Well not to perfect, the one thing that remained the same was him always being compared to someone. Back home it was his older brother. Then at the Garrison, it was Keith. Got shot up into space and he’s still being compared to Keith. Still, things weren’t so bad, or at least that’s what he had convinced himself the for the first few months.

After a while, the quietness of the castle started to get to him. If he wasn’t making the noise himself, it had a far too eerie feel to the place. Though as time passed he started to quiet down, not wanting to annoy everyone just so he can keep himself sane. When he talked to Blue about it, she decided to fill his head with the sound of the ocean to comfort him, especially on restless nights. It still wasn’t the same. Who would’ve known that Lance would miss the constant bickering that his home provided?

One thing that apparently remained, however, was the separation between everyone that had Lance feeling alone. He wasn’t smart enough to talk tech stuff with Hunk and Pidge, he wasn’t strong enough to train with Shiro and Keith, and he was too human to relate to anything to Allura and Coran talked about. Heck, even the mice had each other to converse with. And while Lance of course still had Blue, it just wasn’t the same as having an abled bodied person to interact with. Once again, he was alone.

Eren + Reiner: Saviors of “Humanity”

If there is one strong uniting factor between Reiner and Eren it is this. Both of them built their entire life’s purpose upon what were essentially childish dreams, and then neither could truly process it when reality failed to measure up to their starry eyed expectations.

Bloom — Part II — Autumn

REQUEST: Can u write a fan fic about the girl owning a flower shop and Harry coming in to get flowers for someone else but then they fall in love because love is beautiful like a flower

Bloom: Part I

Over the next few months, Harry had become quite the regular customer in her little store. He visited often, sometimes without even buying anything, and she was pleased that they’d become friends. She still didn’t have many of those around the area, and it was always a nice surprise when Harry stopped by to see her.

They most often talked about his dating life.

He stopped by the store every time he took a girl out for the first time, which was a lot recently. He’d finally been given a break after touring and doing promotion for his first album, and he took it as a chance to have fun and stay close to home for a little while. Dating was something that he hadn’t done properly in years, and he thought, why not?

So far he’d been on eight first dates, and he’d purchased flowers from her every single time. Lilies, to be exact, and every time he would fill him in on what had happened with the last girl he’d seen. They were all lovely, and he didn’t bash them by any means—but it was nice to have a friend to talk to about it all.

On one night in particular, she was just about to close up the shop when she heard the bells ringing.

“Sorry, we’re closed,” she called out from behind the counter, tucking one of the encyclopedias away that she’d been reading up on that day.

In Defense of Rhaegar Targaryen (Revisted)

At the risk of being public crucified online again. I am going to revise and revist some of my points from my earlier argument. I posted a rough draft of a meta yesterday morning on my way to work without realizing that it would cause this much controversy. It was brought to my attention that the post came off as Misogynistic and racist. This was not at all my intention.

My intention was to rebuttal the people in the Rhaegar Targaryen tag who were dragging him for something that, yes he had a hand in causing but was not at all  his plan to cause. He was being dragged for (In my opinion) falling love with someone else. Like really dragged. Like through the bushes, across Yankee stadium and down Times Square only to be hung in Central Park kind of dragged. I wanted to defend him. I could see where he was coming from but didn’t get my point across well. So we are going to give it a second try, now that I’ve been given some constructive criticism (Thank- You @sprinkles36)

First and foremost lets look at what we know about Rhaegar Targaryen. He is portrayed as accomplished, intelligent, talented, and attractive young man who was well respected and commanded loyalty of most everyone who knew him. However  a dark cloud of melancholy and doom clearly hung over him all the days of his life. He seemed wounded according to Cersei and Grief stricken according to Jaime. Yet, he was also described as “Able. That above all, determined, deliberate, dutiful and singleminded.’ These are  the most important of his traits to me. Lets define them

Able: Having considerable skill, proficiency or intelligence

Determined: Processing or displaying resolve

Deliberate: Done consciously or intentionally

Dutiful: conscientiously or obediently fulfilling one’s duty. Also, motivated by duty rather than desire of enthusiasm

Singleminded: Having or concentrating on only one aim or purpose.

So Rhaegar was skilled, resolute, conscious of his decisions, faithful to the vows he made, and committed. So what made this Paragon of Princeliness act so impulsively and risk everything (The future of his house, his Throne, his children, his country) by annulling his marriage to Elia and marrying Lyanna?

This is the question i was left with at the end of the episode. The only answer I could come up with was this, it’s a two part answer, a 30/70 split if you will. 30% Prophecy and 70% He fell in love with Lyanna Stark.

Prophecy

It is well documented that Rhaegar firmly believed in the prophecy of the Prince that was Promised/Azor Ahai. It’s the reason he became a great warrior, the main point of his conversations with Maester Aemon Targayen, it was a big part of his life. Understandably so, considering the circumstances of his birth. Born during the great fire at Summerhall, The tragedy and darkness seemed to cling to Rhaegar his whole life a chip on his shoulders. Perhaps part of him always believed that the world was headed toward doom and destruction and this colored his view of wanting to save the future and the belief that he was The Prince that was Promised. Realizing that being the Prince was not his destiny he placed the burden of its fulfillment on his children.

Rhaegar: The Dragon has three heads, there must be one more.

While at the same time dealing with a father whose mental health and acuity is ever decreasing.

Sidenote: Nowhere is it mentioned that the third head had had to be a female by the prophecy or by Rhaegar. Nor is it mentioned that her name was to be Visenya, If he were trying to replicate Aegon the Conqueror and his sisters, he would have named his Eldest daughter Visenya. As Visenya Targaryen was older then Aegon the Conqueror and their sister Rhaenys.

Son of The Mad King

Aerys was at this point in time the greatest threat to the continuation of the Targayen’s rule of Westeros. Falling deeper into insanity and growing more and more paranoid with each passing day. His continued rule of Westeros would have seen rebellion against Targaryen rule one way or the other.

Barrister Selmy: At First Rhaegar didn’t want to believe that his father was incapable to rule, but in the end even he saw that this was true.

So now Rhaegar is given the heavy burden of what to do with his father, who if left to continue as King would bring the Red Keep crashing down around them all. How to act against a paranoid man who already believes you are plotting against him? How to depose your father who you still love without him going completely off his rocker? Gather the great Lords of Westeros to format a plan.

This leads him to the the Tourney at Harrenhaal and the events that follow (The Knight of the Laughing Tree, Joust with Barristan Selmy, Queen of Love and Beauty) lead him to Lyanna.

Thus comes the conundrum of the  series . Why annul your marriage? Effectively abandon you kingdom and people when they need you the most? Piss off the only ally you have (Dorne) and put your family and future at risk?

Well first off let’s look at the other two parts of the equation:

Rhaegar’s Women

Elia Martell is portrayed as beautiful but sickly woman and due to that is often portrayed as the sad abandoned damsel. But being sickly and being compliant are two very different things. My point is that her being viewed as sickly often affects the way her personality is viewed, she is viewed as naive docile and ultimately victimized. I know, I know Rhaegar passed her over, threw her aside, she was left to fend for herself against Aerys and everyone views it as a major slight against her, against Dorne. So where is her outrage? Surely if she felt put aside or disrespected she would say so perhaps not at court but to her brothers. Who would no doubt welcome her back to Dorne with open arms and even stew in her anger with her. Yet she stayed, and not only did she stay but she gave Rhaegar another child. Curious. Perhaps she stayed for her children? Perhaps she stayed because she truly loved Rhaegar? who knows, its always been one of things that has always irked me about Elia’s character. Why stay? But nonetheless she did stay and that he survived as long as she did is a testament to her cunning, diplomacy, and strength as a woman. But would we expect less from a Martell of Dorne. A country known to produce fierce independent women.

As @sprinkles36 described it Elia is a brown woman who managed to survive in a court far from home. Where Misogyny and Racism were rampant with a mad king who was paranoid and suspicious

It is clear that Elia is not the naive, hapless girl most of the world thought she was. Oberyn describes her perfectly from the quote below:

Oberyn: In Dorne, she walked among vipers and none would bite her.

All this being said it is widely known throughout the fandom  and books and show that Elia and Rhaegar’s marriage although happy enough was arranged. Neither of them choose to marry the other, it was chosen for them and for a while they seemed to make the best of it. Their marriage was shown as better than the one between Rhaegar’s parents, but Rhaegar was not depicted as being in love with Elia. He was fond of her. He cared for her as a human being and the mother of his child(ren). Not much else is said on the matter really nothing from Elia’s perspective. Rhaegar is depicted to be a good father, loving and caring. When Rhaenys was killed she was found hiding under her father’s bed. She clearly found comfort in some way being close to him in a time of fear. So what we have is Rhaegar and Elia fulfilling their duty in their marriage while not being in love. Not once is it mentioned that Rhaegar cheated, beated, or mistreated her in their marriage prior to the Tourney.  Even Ned is quoted as thinking that Rhaegar never visited brothels. So what changed? What was it about Lyanna Stark that was different?

Lyanna Stark the She-wolf of Winterfell is described as willful and beautiful, with a strong sense of honor and kindness, courageous and fierce to boot. A girl who took up arms against a group of squires who were bullying one of her father’s men. Then took on the Knights of those squires and handed them their asses demanding the Knights teach their squire some respect. It’s easy to believe he would be attracted to and admire her. Lyanna who was not enchanted with the idea of marrying Robert Baratheon, Who cried when Rhaegar sang his song with implies some feeling for him. Rhaegar who very likely kept her from being exposed as the Knight of the Laughing tree and very possibly killed by Aerys, but who was in such admiration of her fierceness and kindness crowned her Queen of Love and Beauty in his own secret acknowledgement of her courage and skill as a warrior. The spark had been lit but still he remained faithful and dutiful to his position and his wife.  Why would he stay with Elia after meeting Lyanna if he’s a selfish fuckboyjust looking for a good role in the Hay?

Sidenote: Lyanna was 14 at the time of these events. Rhaegar was in his early to mid twenties. The age difference was not a deterrent and would not have mattered even if they hadn’t eloped. This is a pseudo medieval society, you cannot apply modern ways of thinking or values to their customs and practices because they will always come up wanting. In Medieval times the marriage age of women was twelve years old. At that time period a 14 year old girl and a man in his early/mid twenties being married was the norm , consummating the marriage around the age of 14/15 was custom as well. In Westeros I believe the age of adulthood is 16 and a girl can be married off once she has flowered so 12/13 maybe. Also keep in mind Lyanna was betrothed to Robert, you honestly think he was going to wait a couple of years for her to fully develop and understand her own mind once they were married before he would have her? I don’t think so.

Fuckboy or Fool in Love?:

I guess that depends how you define the Fuckboy term. Dictionary defines it as a male who is constantly seeking Romance and/or sexual congress with women. This is most definitely not Rhaegar, Until Lyanna not once is it mentioned that Rhaegar cheated on Elia or was anything but a loyal and faithful husband. Even Ned who had every right to  think badly of him didn’t believe he frequented brothels. You know who was a fuckboy: Robert “Hoe life till I die” Baratheon, but that’s off topic. It was a year between the Tourney and the disappearance of Rhaeghar and Lyanna together to Dorne. Why wait so long if it was simply about prophecy or lust? Why wait if Rhaeghar is simply selfish and uncaring about consequences of his actions? The only reason to wait is because he cared about Elia and his children, how it would affect them. It must have been agonizing for someone who was always viewed as dutiful and honorable to come to the decision to annul his marriage. To discard his wife and supposedly make his children illegitimate. I’m not too sure on this assumption because the stance of children from an annulled marriage is that the annulled marriage has no bearing on the legitimacy of the children born while the marriage was still valid, but that’s the real world, I don’t know if it’s the same in Westeros. Is that a shitty thing to do to a person? Yeah, it is. Does that somehow take everything we know that is good and honorable about Rhaegar and make it invalid? No. We don’t know what his intentions were at this time besides the bare boned facts.

We know Nothing

Much like Jon we the viewers, readers, etc. know next to nothing when it comes to what was suppose to happen in Rhaegar’s mind after he left Elia and married Lyanna and in some ways neither did Rhaegar. Had he known Brandon Stark would have reacted like the hothead rash idiot he was, demanding Lyanna’s return and effectively threatening Rhaegar to the Mad King’s face.If he’d known the  depth with Aerys insanity had fallen to the point that he would even dare consider killingl The Warden of the North and his heir, while also demanding Ned be delivered to King’s Landing and his death as well he probably wouldn’t have gone about marrying her in that way.

Sidenote: It would have been a lot harder for Rhaegar to convince the High Septon to grant him clemency to take two wives than it would have been for The high Septon to grant him an annulment. The faith of the seven was firmly against practicing polygamy and the last Targaryen who has practiced the custom was Aegon IV that was well over a hundred years prior to Rhaegar’s certain circumstance. The Targaryen’s practiced the faith of the seven, As did most of Westeros. As many kings in history will tell you as goes what the church deems acceptable, so goes what world deems acceptable. Annulling his marriage would have been seen as the lesser of two evils. Better to have one part of the country pissed at you than a good chunk of the country and the dominant religious church.

The true spark of the Rebellion

While it is generally believed that the Rebellion was sparked with Rhaegar and Lyanna absconding together that simply isn’t true. Rhaegar and Lyanna’s elopement, abduction whatever you want to call it was merely a squabble between houses not a full blown war. The rebellion began where most believed it always would begin with King Aerys. The murder of Rickard Stark and his heir, burning them alive, and then demanding Jon Arryn send Ned to King’s Landing likely to meet the same fate is what started the war. Is what caused John Arryn to call up his banners against the King. Rhaegar came back and was left to sit in marvel at the clusterfuck that his father had caused. Had Aerys not killed Brandon and Rickard and had Rhaegar and Lyanna been able to speak with them, it could have been worked out without open rebellion or bloodshed. Would Rickard have been pissed? Yeah, but a man with the southern ambition Rickard had would be quick to see the benefit of his only daughter being married to the  next King of Westeros instead of One of many southern Lords. . Robert would have had sour grapes for a hot minute but would have moved on quickly to the next tart that caught his fancy. The only real fallout would have been Dorne. Possibly fixable if Rhaegar intended to keep Rhaenys and Aegon in the line of succession and while no longer married to Elia, she was given the option to stay in KL or return to Dorne? Just a thought on logistics. But alas this did not happen and Rebellion rose, Robert killed Rhaegar, Jamie Killed the Mad King, Tywin ordered the death of Elia and her children, Lyanna died giving birth to the Last Dragon’s only surviving heir.

The Butterfly Effect

So is Rhaegar to blame for the events that unfolded? For Elia’s and their children’s death? Perhaps in part, but it’s  not just Rhaegar’s actions it was the actions and reactions of multiple people on multiple levels. If Brandon Stark hadn’t gone to King’s Landing there would be no rebellion, if Aerys had’t had Brandon and Rickard killed there would be no rebellion. A butterfly flaps it’s wings in New Mexico and it causes a hurricane in China. The smallest changes can effect the largest outcomes. Everyone has their part in the action so everyone is to blame, but honestly playing the blame game is a footnote in minutia to what GRRMis trying to tell about the way war effects society and the environment both positively and negatively, about how no one is black and white humanity is all a giant shade of gray. A bad choice does not necessarily make a bad person and vice versa.

Love or Duty

Rhaegar was the epitome of duty, honor, nobility in Westeros. The next Jaeherys The Conciliator a consummate ruler who would bring peace and prosperity again to the seven kingdoms. The great white hope for the future, a future without the taint of his mad father. Yet somehow it all turned to ashes at his feet. How did this happen? Maester Aemon said it best Love is the bane of honor the death of duty.

Master Aemon: If the day should ever come that your Lord father were forced to choose between honor on the one had and those he loves on the other? What would he choose?

Yes Rhaegar would have been a great and true roller of Westeros, he would have restored the Targaryen’s good name and yes I believe Rhaegar truly believed the prophecy and wanted to see it brought to fulfillment but that could have easily been done without an annulment and the can of worms that it would open for him. The third head didn;t need to be legitimate The only real reason I can see holding any validity is he did it because he loved Lyanna and that became more important than the prophecy, than the kingdoms, than anything.

Master Aemon: What is honor compared to a woman’s love? What is duty against the feel of a newborn son in your arms…. Wind and words. Wind and words. We are only human and the gods have fashioned us for love. That is our great glory and our great tragedy,

In the end Rhaegar chose love over duty. And he could not escape the consequences of that choice, I don’t believe even he fully was able to grasp them until it was too late. He died, The love of his life died, His two eldest children and their mother were brutally murdered, His great Targaryen dynasty withered away to three young orphans left with no choice but to flee their homeland or hide in secrecy denied their birthrights, His only heir the next rightful King left to be raised believing he is an unwanted motherless bastard. The moral of the post is we all need to look at all sides of the story before we pass judgements.

Sidenote: The Love is the Death of Duty convo Aemon has with Jon is so insightful and is going to be very important. Because both of his fathers: Ned and Rhaegar choose love over duty and it got them killed. But Jon has always chosen duty over love, is he fated to repeat the mistakes of his father? Also keep in mind that Duty is the death of love. Jon has experienced this with Ygritte, with leaving Winterfell to fall to the Boltons and maybe to some extent Robb’s death. Not saying that these things would;t have happened but his presence may have changed the outcome. Food for thought people, food for thought.

can u write one from josh's pov where he is madly in love with y/n but she's already got a boyfriend and he can't help but feel heartbroken knowing that josh is just always going to be y/n's best friend

authors note: all i could think when reading this prompt was Jim and Pam, so that’s kind of what I loosely based this off from. This is a longerish fic, hopefully what you were looking for.  Enjoy!

JOSH DUN IMAGINE

“Square up, Y/L/N, you’re going down.”

Josh hovered over your shoulder like a bug that just wouldn’t go away, muttering discouraging words into your ear, trying to distract you from the task at hand.  You had to admit he was doing a good job, because all you wanted to do was turn around and smack him, but you had to stay focused.  A bag of chips was on the line here.

You took a deep breath and pulled your arm back, nothing but sheer determination in your vision, and you let your paper airplane sail.  You watched as it flew through the air, coasting past the copier and fax machine, past the cluster of desks, past Josh’s airplane resting on the floor, until it hit the door to the break room and finally landed.

“Yes!” you shrieked, throwing your hands up in victory.  “I beat you by like four feet!”

Josh stares, stunned at how you managed to sail your paper airplane all the way across the office, but nonetheless, hands you over a dollar to get your bag of chips from the vending machines.

“You really should stop betting on things with me, I always win—“ you gloat, as you both make your way into the break room.

Josh leans against the vending machine, watching you select your favorite bag from the top row.  “No way, you can’t get rid of me that easily.”

You laugh, shaking your head at Josh’s remark before opening your bag of chips and heading back to your desk.

Josh watches you go, that familiar sinking feeling becoming prevalent in his stomach, just like every other time you walk away.  He takes a deep breath, trying to regain his right state of mind.  He loved the friendship you two shared, but sometimes he needed a minute to contain all the thoughts running through his head, otherwise his undying love for you might just slip out one of these days.

The hardest part of Josh’s day was at five o’clock, when your boyfriend would meet you at the door and walk out to the parking lot with you.  Josh would smile and wave goodbye, pretending like it didn’t burn every fiber of his being watching you lace your fingers with his and smile into his side as you exited the building.  Then, he’d slowly gather his things and head to his own car, wishing you were at his side.

You and Josh had been friends ever since you started working in Columbus two years ago.  Two entire years, and Josh still swears it was the minute you walked in on your first day, a spot of dried toothpaste on your chin, that he fell completely in love with you.

He spent that entire first week getting to know you, and the next planning out ways he could ask you out.  He’d never been more sure that he’d finally met the person he was meant to be with.  His soulmate, if you will.  Josh had been waiting in his car for your gray SUV to pull in one morning.   He planned on exiting at the same time as you, playing it off as a harmless coincidence, and then walking with you up to the third floor.  It was a cold December morning when he saw Lucas for the first time.  Then of course he didn’t know his name.  He knew the man as someone driving you to work, with broad shoulders and a trimmed beard.  He leaned over the center console and planted a kiss right on your lips before making a U-turn and exiting the parking lot.  Josh had let his head drop and made a beeline for the door, trying his best to ignore you calling his name and the gut-wrenching dread he felt.

That was two years ago, and Josh still hadn’t moved on.  How could he when you sat only feet away from him?  Spreading your infectious laugh and always there to make him smile?  No, Josh hadn’t moved on.  Instead, he’d just learned to live with it.  He swallowed his feelings and instead focused on the friendship that you two shared, no matter how much it killed him inside.  It was always about more than friendship, and he knew it from the start. Even though that is what he loved most about you. Falling in love was quick, easy, inevitable. You would talk and laugh and be happy. If life is a series of moments, then it was those innocent instances that defined Josh for the longest time.

But falling also hurt.  You were his everything. And you were his best friend. You told each other everything, but he had to keep his biggest secret hidden from you.  On that first day, even if she didn’t remember it, he could see a future. Your future together. And for that split second he wanted nothing more than to kiss you, to forget about the rest of the world and focus on you. But there were no messing this up. This was you, and it was really just complicated.

Josh sat in his car in the parking lot the next morning eating his breakfast and occasionally warming up his hands in front of the air vents. Just as he was finishing off his bagel, there was a soft knock on his window. It took him half a second to realize it was you; your coat was zipped up to your chin and your beige scarf covered most of your face. Josh quickly got out of his car and you both exchanged hellos in the still-dark parking lot.

“What are you doing here so early?” he asks, shivering a little in the cold winter air.

“Lucas and I kind of had another spat last night and I wanted to get out before he woke up…" you trail off. Josh’s jaw clenches at the mention of his name.  ”What about you?“

“One of my biggest clients is a morning person, if I don’t call him by 8am sharp, his account is as good as closed, so I wanted to get here early and go over his file.”

“So you got here before the sunrise?”

“It’s a big file,” Josh says with a smile.

You chuckle and then looked over to the far end of the parking lot, “Hey, come with me.”

It was one of those commands Josh didn’t have to hear twice. He followed you, his hand in his pockets and his nose buried in his own scarf. You both walked over to the edge of the lot, and you stepped up on the curb, standing on your tip-toes. Josh furrowed his eyebrows.

“Come on, Josh,” you say playfully.

He laughed nervously before following your actions. He faced the direction you were facing and saw that through the fence there was a perfect view of the distance hills on the east side of town. The sky was thick and dark blue and the hills looked outlined with gold. The sun began to peek over the horizon and the buildings of Columbus went from grays to a bright mixture of yellows and oranges.

Josh glanced over at you as you looked at the view, smiling wide, the sun hitting your eyes. Josh could never quite tell, your eyes always looked hazel and sadly dull in the florescent light of the office, but for the first time his saw their true color: a brilliant green with splashes of brown near the center.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?” you asked.

“Yeah, really is,” Josh says, still looking straight at you.

“We should go inside,” you said quietly, noticing his insistent stare from your corner view.  “I’m freezing.”

Josh nods, eyes lingering on the view a moment longer before he trails behind you inside the building.

It’s habit, more than anything else, that has Josh lingering in the break room when he sees the tired lines in your face three days later. It’s instinct, to ask you if you want to talk. To take a seat at the table before he has a chance to consider the implications of what he’s just offered.

Besides, first and foremost, he’s your friend.

More than anything, he wants you to be happy.  And if there’s something he can do to ease the tension in your shoulders, to watch the frustrated crease in your brow fade back into familiar calm, then he will. Of course he will.

Being the one to elicit a smile from you is worth the cost of his own discomfort.

Patiently, he listens to your perspective on the misunderstanding between yourself and Lucas, he tries to detach himself from the situation enough to give you the sort of sincere and thoughtful advice he’d extend to anyone in that position. But he doesn’t want your thanks — your gratitude that much worse because it’s genuine.

Josh had served as the backboard for you since he met you.  He was always around to listen.  Maybe he was imagining it, but it seemed like you and Lucas had been fighting more and more lately.  He hated seeing you upset on a daily basis in the break room and he tried to ignore the sliver of hope he felt inside.

Apparently last night had been bad.  Josh can tell the minute he sees your puffy eyes and quivering lip.

“What happened?” he asks, concern evident in his voice.

You shrug, trying to be brave, but the tears fall anyway.  “He threw a glass at the wall next to me last night.  He was drunk… muttering about how he thought I was cheating on him.”

“Oh my god—“ Josh said, gut dropping as he imagined how scared you must have been in that moment.

“I don’t think he’d ever hurt me or anything.  But I was scared.”

“What’d you do?” he asks, taking the seat at the table across from you.

You curled your hands around your mug of coffee, “I left.  Went to my moms.  I think it’s over.  I mean, it has to be, right?”

Josh wants to blurt out a gigantic yes, but instead he empathetically furrows his brows and nods softly, “I definitely don’t like the idea of you being scared.” And without thinking, he reaches his hand across the table and touches yours softly.

Your eyes shoot down to where your hands touch, all of a sudden you feel so nervous.  You pull back and drag your coffee mug to your chest.

“I should get back to work.”

Josh has a hard time focusing the rest of the day.  It was over.  You said that.  It was over and maybe, just maybe, Josh had a chance here.  He’d be your friend first, of course.  Just like it’d always had been.  He wouldn’t rush you.  But now he had a chance to prove how much you truly meant to him.  He was elated.  Lighter and more hopeful than he’d felt in months.

It all comes crashing down with the sound of the office door opening and closing. Josh’s fists clench at his side the minute he sees Lucas walk through the doors.  He’s ready to get up and ward him off if necessary; the idea of him yelling at you makes his blood boil.  But he watches from his desk instead, as Lucas makes his way to you, gently tapping your shoulder and whispering something in your ear.

Your initial reaction is wide eyes, filled with what is that?  Fear?  It fades quickly, morphs into anger.  Then sympathy.  Josh watches as you grab your coat from the back of your chair and willingly follow him up to reception.  You mutter something to the secretary before continuing out the door without looking back.

“He apologized, and he really was just so sincere.  I think he really meant it.”

Josh nods and takes another swig of coffee, which was lukewarm by now.  He cringes.

“Sounds it,” he says dully.  Not even he can fake enhance the amount of enthusiasm in his voice.

“What’s that?” you ask, offended by his dull tone.

He looks at you and raises an eyebrow.  Disappointment and anger and frustration all boiling under the surface of his skin after seeing you and Lucas kissing in the parking lot again this morning, so he decides for the first time in a long time; to be honest.

“No, it’s just I’ve heard all of this before.  It gets a bit old is all.”

“It gets a bit old?” you repeat, stunned by his response.

“Yeah you and Lucas.  He does something nasty, you break up or contemplate breaking up, then he apologizes with roses or chocolates or what was it this time?  Perfume?  Same story, different version.  Can’t blame me for getting bored with it.”

And then Josh walks straight out of the break room and back to his desk, where there’s a light flashing on his phone.  He presses the button and pulls up a chair to listen to the voicemail.

“Hey Josh, it’s Craig from Corporate.  Meant to catch you before lunch, but I wanted to talk to you about a job opening here in Detroit.  It’d be a promotion for you.  More pay, more duties, all that.  Give me a call back with the details if you’re interested.  Thanks.”

It ended in the parking lot, the blooming seed of happiness that lived deep in his chest was fading, right next to his heart.  It was his best friend, his sole support, the girl of his life who made everything just a little bit better. It was you standing there, your jaw dropping with surprise and Josh with his entire heart and soul on the line.

It was Josh that changed the game. This game of yours, the little dance of just barely something more than friends.  He had nothing left to lose, because he couldn’t do it anymore.  So he gave himself an ultimatum.  Tell her you love her.  Tell her and if she turns you down, you can accept the job.  Tell her you love her.  Tell her and if she loves you back, you can live happily ever after.

The words hang thickly in the air.  “I love you, Y/N.  I’ve loved you since the day I met you.”

You stand still in your spot, eyes watering and eyebrows furrowed with confusion and surprise.  And for a quick second, Josh thinks you might say it back.  But then you drop your clenched fist to your side and you let out a loud, inconvenient sigh and it’s amazing how quick his gut picks up on the rejection.  It drops as you start muttering about how “you can’t” and  “you have a boyfriend.”

“Listen, Josh—“

But that’s all. Because Josh clearly doesn’t want to listen. His hands wrap around you and Lucas has never held you like you’re this precious.  It’s gentle  and firm, warm and large, pulling you softly towards him, gathering you, even as his mouth falls against yours, just as lightly, just a hint of pressure and you feel so small against him, against this unspoken message that he loves you. And it’s powerful.

“Josh—“ you say, finally pulling back.

He freezes, jerks away, his hands still gentle, even as his eyes are screaming, those big brown eyes that love you. “You’re really going to be with him?”

Your ‘yes’ is locked into your throat and tears fill your eyes, but somehow you can’t look away as you destroys your best friend from the inside out. There are a million reasons to stay with Lucas and only one to leave him, because you maybe love Josh, but you maybe don’t love Josh, and it’s that thought that makes you nod.

“Okay.”

You can’t blame him when he walks away, when he holds on to your hands for as long as possible, even as he can’t look you in the eyes. You want him to look at you. You want him to fight for you, but you know that’s unfair to ask him. But you don’t want to lose him and you somehow know you’re going to and you need him to understand, but before you know it… he’s gone.

It’s not as if you’ve never seen his desk without him sitting there, because of course you have. He’s stayed home sick, made occasional use of his vacation days, gone on client calls — you know what the office looks like when the shape of him is missing, it’s the permanence of it that hurts.

As you settle in that first day of Josh’s absence, you hang your coat up and take a seat, You let yourself miss him as a coworker and as a best friend and that’s it. Work will be work, with or without Josh Dun.

But that’s a lie, because of course it hurts like hell.

Each day it’s harder, when it starts to sink in that this doesn’t mean a handful of days out recovering from the flu or visiting his family, but that there is a new and permanent Josh-sized hole in the fabric of you. So you play sudoku to avoid noticing the absence of his voice and

you doodle in notebook margins during conference room meetings to ignore all the jokes he can’t whisper in your ear.

As the day goes on, regret floods deeper within you.  You always knew Josh was your best friend.  But you probably always always knew he was more than that too.  You just wished you’d been brave enough to see that.

That night you break up with Lucas.  This time, there’s no yelling or screaming or wine glasses thrown against the wall.  It’s respectable and understood that they are just not meant to be.  You thought there’d be a Lucas-sized hole inside of you now too, but there’s not.  Instead, it just makes room for Josh’s hole to grow bigger.

It’s twenty past five and you’ve got your coat on and bag in hand when the phone rings.

You debate for a moment about answering it — after all, technically you shouldn’t even still be here.

But, well, you are still there, so it’s equal parts obligation and impulse that has you reaching for the handset and saying, “Hello?” with a slightly tired edge in your tone.

“Uh, hey.”

And — oh, oh.

“Oh my god.”

“Hi.”

“Um… Hi.”

Witty. Clever. Exactly the kind of thing you’d imagined herself saying to Josh when you finally reconnected after too-many-weeks of silence.

“Sorry, I needed a number from Mark.  It’s a co-client thing—”

“Oh.”

“—and I was just gonna leave a voicemail, because I didn’t think anyone would be there.”

It’s hard not to wonder if Josh had been making an open effort to avoid you on purpose, if he’d waited to call until twenty past five because you were supposed to be gone and he’s supposed to get an machine instead.

“Why are you still there?”

“I had to work late.” And then, because that sounds flimsy, goes on. “Well I didn’t have to, but there were just some open files I wanted to finish up.”

“Wow,” he says, the faint tone of amusement in his voice.  “Wow, they’ve really changed you Y/L/N.  Going above and beyond, that’s not you.”

And you’re smiling—because it’s Josh and you aren’t sure your face is capable of behaving any other way around him—but there’s something nervous and careful in the lines of your expression that isn’t usually there. You’ve missed him, but knows that a subtle shift occurred in their relationship that can’t be undone, that things might never be as easy as they once were.

“Everything else is pretty much the same here.” Except—god, no—of course it isn’t.

“Oh…good.”

You change up your previous statement. “A little different.” Because you need him to understand that even though the routines of the office cycle on, no part of that environment could ever be the same to you without him there. Then you ask, “what time is it there?”

“…What time is it here?” He pauses, something uncertain and unsure in his tone. “Um, we’re in the same time zone.”

“Oh, yeah, right.”

“How far apart did you think we were?”

“I don’t know,” you mutter, embarrassed. “It feels really far.” And you can hear his thoughtful, quiet agreement that suggests it’s more than just the miles dividing Columbus and Detroit that’s currently between them.

It took you until the next morning to get your act together.  You were walking into the building, the sun rising across the lot, and you felt it.  A crumpled up piece of paper in your pocket.  You gripped it in your fist before pulling it out, unwrapping the paper and trying to make out the scrubbed words.

You can’t get rid of me that easy.” It was a note from Josh.  One from back before the airplane competition, where they’d bet on how many green M&M’s were in the jar resting on reception.  You’d beat him easily, leaving time to gloat on how he should just give up on betting against you, cause you always won, just like you did every other time you two bet on something.  Josh had left the note on your desk with the soda you’d won.

You could feel the tears surfacing, blurring your vision as you turned in your spot and starting walking all the way back to your car.  You opened the note up again after you’d sat in the driver’s seat, unfolding the paper and running your hands over Josh’s scratchy scrawl and letting yourself feel what was long overdue.  It all floods in at once.  The despair, the guilt, the regret.  But also the love and admiration and memories of laughing, smiling, feeling lighter than ever around him.

You didn’t think twice as you flicked your blinker on to turn onto the highway headed towards Detroit.

The city was so close down the road, you could see the outline of hazy buildings out of the window.  You stared diligently ahead, running through what you were going to exactly say to Josh when the time came.  But before you knew it, you were pulling into the parking lot of the Detroit branch, sliding into the spot beside Josh’s car as an automatic reflex, and you still had no idea what you were doing, what you would say. Yet your feet trudged up to the front door, almost like a little girl who knew that you had to admit to your mother that you’d smashed her favorite vase, because it had to be done, you just weren’t quite ready for the aftermath. There were no obstacles now.  No Lucas or unacknowledged feelings and you were sure that’s what scared you the most. What if, after all this time, Josh had just had enough?  What if you just weren’t meant to be?

You walked right up to reception, waiting until the woman hung up the phone before telling her you were here to see Josh.

“Y/N?” his familiar voice rings through the air and when you look over, you can see him taking off his headset and standing up from his desk.  “What are you doing here?” There’s a hint of curiosity and surprise and maybe even a little excitement in his voice.

You couldn’t tell him here.  You had to go somewhere more private.

“Could we um, talk?” you say quietly, offering him the slightest smile even amidst your nerves.

“Yeah,” he says, “let me just grab my coat—“ he motions back towards his desk with his thumb, where you see his familiar dark blue fabric hanging off from the back of his chair.  You wait patiently with your arms crossed across your chest, bouncing on the backs of your heels.

“All set?” he says, hand buried deep within his pockets.

You walk down to the parking lot in silence, still pondering what you were going to say to Josh in your head.

“How’s Detroit?” you asked after thanking him for holding the door open for you.  You wanted to stall as long as possible.

Josh chuckles, “Common, Y/N.  You didn’t drive three and a half hours to Detroit to ask me how the city is.”

You blush, of course you didn’t.  But you still didn’t know what to say to him.  To Josh.  The man you loved, completely and wholly, with everything inside of you.

You could feel your cheeks growing hot as you thought about what you were about to admit.  You’d had so much courage built up inside of you before, but now, it was quickly draining.  You had to say it before you were completely empty.

“I miss you.”

Your heart’s still thumping like crazy, banging against your ribs, and you’re not entirely sure what you just said.

And Josh didn’t say anything back to you, but it wasn’t like you said all the stuff that you were thinking to him.

“I didn’t mean to hurt you,” you continue, your voice wavering.

Josh shakes his head. “I’m okay.“

You nod. There’s a silence, long enough that you worry you’re not going to be able to say it all and nothing will happen and you’ll go back to being scared and afraid. You want to be someone who says what they feel.

“It’s just— the office isn’t the same and… I miss you.  I miss you a lot, Josh. I miss my best friend.”

“It can’t be that way again, Y/N,” he says. “I wasn’t your best friend. I was in love with you.”

“We could be friends now. Just go back to the way things were—“ you weren’t sure why you were burying your feelings again, but it was instinctual.

"No,” he says. He’s standing so still, arms at his sides.  ”What you miss – that wasn’t friends. That was us… that was me being something more. All the time. And I can’t do that anymore.  It hurt too much.”

You feel kind of sick, but a little voice in the back of your head says you should be grateful for whatever happened, because it was better than being endlessly, endlessly quiet.

“Then I’m really sorry,” you say at last. “Because I miss that.”

“What do you think that means?” he asks, and there’s a little heat in his voice. “What do you think you’re really missing?”

This morning you would have undoubtedly ducked your head and avoided the question, or flat-out lied. Now though, you had driven three and a half hours and you’re standing in front of Josh, far enough away that you have to speak up for him to hear.

“I know what it means,” you say quietly. “And you know.”

He shakes his head, “I don’t. You’ve made it clear you only wanted to be friends.”

“I don’t think I’ve made anything clear,” you say, and for the first time you have the urge to move closer, speak more softly, because this is the hard part, the thing you couldn’t say in front of everyone else. “I should have been honest a long time ago, and I know that, but I couldn’t until I knew what I wanted.”

“Do you?” he asks after a moment, his voice low. “Know?”

You take a big breath, letting the oxygen go to your head, willing back the feeling you had just before you ran up to the third floor. “I want to feel the way I did when I was with you, back before you moved to Detroit.  I don’t want to be lonely, and I want to redo the past two years except it made me figure out a lot of things about myself, so I don’t know. I want stuff to be easy, Josh, and it isn’t, and I thought that maybe if we could be friends again I could have one thing in my life that made me happy, even if it wasn’t what I really wanted.”

He’s quiet for a long time. The wind whips against you, making you shiver.

“Why can’t you say it?” he asks.

“Would anything change if I did?”

“I don’t know, everything changed when I said it.”

“Fuck it,” you say, the cold air filling your lungs, “I love you.  I have loved you but I was with Lucas and I was afraid and I didn’t know it.  And I’m still afraid, but I know it now.”

You stare and wait for his reaction, hoping with everything inside of you that you weren’t too late.  But the look on Josh’s face, the sad, almost pitiful stare, gave you reason to believe that you were.

And your courage drained for good.

“I’m sorry,” you said, wiping a tear falling down your cheek, “I shouldn’t have come.  I’m gonna get going.  It was nice to see you,” you mumble before turning away and heading towards your car.

When Josh saw you turn away, it was as if lightning struck him. All he could see was your back, stiff and tense, walking back towards your car, parked near his, and suddenly he didn’t know what he was doing. He didn’t know how it had come to this. The last several months had turned you both into people he didn’t even recognize anymore, and he blamed himself.

You were all he ever wanted. You were the one he saw in his dreams and imagined in his fantasies for years on end, and he had you. It was supposed to be forever, but all he seemed to do anymore was hurt you. The Josh from six weeks ago would absolutely kill him for that. The Josh from six weeks ago would feel about him like he used to feel about Lucas. Lucas took you for granted, and didn’t consider your feelings.

Like Josh was doing now.

He sprinted toward you, his long legs reaching yours in just a couple of long strides, and he grabbed your arm to turn you around. You had no idea what was happening, but he didn’t stop to explain. He simply wrapped his arms all the way around you, and held you close. You didn’t resist, but you didn’t reciprocate immediately. He pulled you closer. He buried his face in your hair, nuzzled into your neck, and tried to breathe you in. He remembered the electric shock of when you first met (for him, anyway), how it felt to love you and not be able to have you.  He couldn’t let himself let it slip away.

You finally wrapped your arms around him, and he felt a small shudder go through you. You pulled back and he could see your face crumple just before you took his face in both hands and kissed him. When you parted, you were both smiling as said, “I love you” in unison.  He hugged her so tightly he almost picked you up off from the ground.

You blushed hearing the compliment. It wasn’t the first time he had told you this but it never failed to get a reaction out of you. “Who are you talking to” you covered your cheeks with your hands trying to avoid him.

Joining the River Vixens wasn’t something you had ever considered doing. It wasn’t like you wouldn’t want to try it out, maybe you would enjoy it, most of your fear had come from the thought of the people that would be watching you do it.

So naturally you were opposed to Cheryl suggesting you try out. Many people thought that someone like Cheryl being friends with someone like you was bizarre, but you knew better.

You had taken the time to get through to Cheryl privately, and saw how she really was. Although she acted the way she did at school, she had a soft spot for you and you had one for her too, so you put up with any looks, you hardly noticed them now.

The moment you saw Cheryl walking up to you with that sly smile you just knew she was going to suggest some crazy idea she had to you, and you were right. She walked up to you quickly, luckily without her two minions, and smiled even wider if that were possible, “I had a great idea and I won’t even give you the chance to say no” were the words that came out of her mouth.

You quickly shook your head, “what is it now?” you asked in a rushed manner, reaching into your locker as if you actually had something to be doing. Cheryl, being your only friend besides Jughead, saw past you rather quickly.

She closed your locker and grabbed you gently by the shoulders before you could walk away, “I know you too well (Y/N). Now listen up, you are going to join the River Vixens, no excuses.” she said boldly, staring you directly in the eyes.

She was met with an exhausted sigh, “Cheryl you know how much I hate dealing with people in general. Do you know how many people are going to watch and criticize me if I do this?” you said quickly, immediately rejecting the idea.

Cheryl looked at you with pleading eyes, “(Y/N). Please do this, for me? I know how you are, trust me, but please do this one thing? I know you would be great at this, believe me.” she begged, but she still indicated that you wouldn’t have to do it.

She nearly screamed with joy when she saw you nod your head, muttering a quiet “fine, I’ll do it.” under your breath. Cheryl grabbed your arm and quickly dragged you down the hall, talking about your routine and schedule.

After many practices and a very embarrassing ( for you anyways ) tryout, you were finally a part of the River Vixens. Cheryl was ecstatic about you joining, and proceeded to rant to you about the next football game you guys were going to cheer at.

You quickly realized it was very close, and panic overwhelmed you, but you chose to just ignore it for now, ‘i’ll worry about it later’ you thought to yourself. Cheryl continued speaking to you excitedly, “I’m so proud of you! Now we can cheer on JJ and the rest of the team together” she said smiling proudly, her gaze turning to you.

It took you a moment to process something, it was like you completely forgot, Jason Blossom was on the football team. For unknown reasons Jason intimidated you, without a doubt he was similar to Cheryl, maybe he just seemed bad, after all they were twins, but he still was intimidating.

Despite all of this you nodded, smiling back at cheryl cheerfully, walking down the sidewalk as you got closer to your house where you would both split up from each other.

Cheryl sighed contently, “I’ll see you at the game, (Y/N). Don’t stress, you’ll do awesome.”  she said quickly, giving you a quick smile before walking away. You stared at her retreating form in thought, snapping out of it as you ran up to your front door, retreating to your room to stress about the upcoming football game.

It felt like no time had passed at all but here you were, already getting ready for the game. Panicked thoughts swirled through your mind, and the thought of so many people- especially those you didn’t particularly like, watching you, was unnerving to say the least.

You had already messed up in your panic getting dressed, accidentally shoving your arm in the hole meant for your head. The moment you noticed this, a loud and annoyed “fuck!” escaped your lips, as Cheryl and the other River Vixens looked at you curiously.

Cheryl quickly picked up on what was going on, walking over to you and helping you get your arm into the right place, “Calm down, trust me these things are not as bad as you may think they are” she said comfortingly, putting a gentle hand on your shoulder.

You nodded mostly to yourself, looking to make sure everything was in order, just in time as you noticed it was time for you guys to cheer. Attempting and failing to ignore your nerves, you ran out with the other girls, getting in your place as you began to cheer.

The football team had begun running out too, and then you noticed the familiar red hair, and stared for a moment.  Bashfully you looked away before anyone could notice you staring, everyone except for Cheryl Blossom.

Little did you know, just as you had looked away from the teen, he caught sight of you. He felt paralyzed, staring at you as you stood there, cheering with the other Vixens.

Many thoughts ran through his mind, ‘when did she join the Vixens?’ being the first one he thought of. He knew that you had to have just joined, and he swore that he had seen you with his sister, then it all clicked.

You were (Y/N) (Y/L/N). You were in a few of his classes and Cheryl had talked about you a lot, ‘how did I not realize?’ he thought to himself lamely, his stare still on you although luckily you hadn’t noticed.

Just as he began thinking about why Cheryl hadn’t bothered introducing you, he figured the whole situation out. Cheryl wouldn’t introduce you because of his reputation, why would the introverted (Y/N), who always made it clear about how much she hated meeting new people ( according to Cheryl ), want to meet a new person? Especially if that new person was the most well known person in the entire school?

His thoughts were quickly interrupted as he heard the whistle blow and quickly got into position to play, although you were all that remained on his mind. When the game started Cheryl noticed an off look in her twins eye, and wondered what it could have been as they began to cheer.

Jason noticed he was distracted, his coach did, Cheryl did, and a few teammates did, but no one said anything yet, ‘why do I keep thinking about her? I don’t know her’ he thought to himself as he shoved someone down roughly.

He looked over to you briefly and noticed you staring back, although you looked away quickly he continued staring, getting lost for a moment. That was when Cheryl noticed, she saw immediately that Jason had stared at you just like you had done to him a few moments ago, but decided to confront the both of you about it after.

Jason heard his name and even though his feet moved, his mind stayed on you, and even though he jumped to catch the ball, his mind was zoned out. So it came as a surprise to him when he felt the wind get knocked out of his lungs and found himself on the grass, a pounding headache beginning to form.

He heard multiple calls of his name as he was pulled up onto his feet, disoriented he blew off the coach and insisted he could play, and he continued. Despite him continuing, even though he didn’t have a major fall again, a few people noticed he was a bit off.

He wouldn’t immediately respond to his name being called, and sometimes he wouldn’t knock someone down properly. everyone on his team was growing concerned and slightly annoyed at Jason’s suddenly distracted behaviour, and made it known when the game ended and they lost.

Chuck was irritated because of Jason’s performance on the field, and infuriated when he noticed that Jason wasn’t paying attention to him walking over at all. Jason did notice however, when Chuck decided to give him a rough shove, “what the hell Jason. What was wrong with you today?” he asked  angrily, staring Jason in the eyes.

Jason shook his head, “I don’t know, wasn’t feeling good is all. Back off Chuck, I think you’re forgetting who the hell I am” he responded, quickly switching back into his usual state, the tough rich boy.

Chuck glared at him, “You’re lucky this was just one game. Don’t fuck this up for the rest of us.” he muttered, storming off, seething with rage. Reggie walked up to Jason and pat him on the shoulder, however Jason shoved his hand off and walked outside to get some air.

The moment Jason stepped out Cheryl got in his face, “Hey JJ, I saw you today. You were looking at (Y/N), and normally I wouldn’t let you because of how you act around girls in particular, but you’ve never looked at anyone like that.” were the rushed words that came out of her mouth as she gave him a suspicious look.

Jason shook his head, processing what she had just said before he responded, “I don’t know what you-””Don’t give me that JJ. I want you to be happy and I know how you looked at her, so you’re meeting her in two days for a date, this Sunday around 5, be. ready.” she said, smiling as she gave him a loving peck on the cheek before walking off to find you.

She didn’t have to look very far, quickly seeing you standing outside out of your outfit looking lost. Cheryl ran over to you smiling from ear to ear, “You’re meeting Jason this weekend!” she shouted, giving you a knowing look as you chocked on your own spit for a moment.

After coughing, you gave her a look that screamed ‘what the fuck’ before responding, “Cheryl- why? I don’t want to meet-””you don’t want to meet anyone. I saw both of you looking at each other and I can’t let that go. You were gaping at Jason, he was gaping at you, and the look you guys had… that was a look that meant a lot.” she said knowingly, giving you a pleading look.

You rubbed a hand over your face in an annoyed manner, “Fine, but he better not pull anything Cheryl.” you muttered, throwing Cheryl a look that she was already used to.

The time leading up to the date was stressful for both you and Jason. Cheryl had been preparing you both and found it very difficult. Jason was doubting that you would enjoy yourself and constantly worrying about what he would act like, meanwhile you were worried about Jason trying to pull a- well a Jason

It was now an hour before the date and Cheryl had helped you get ready and emotionally prepare yourself, “I already talked to him, he isn’t a bad guy (Y/N). He’s just like me, I promise” she said convincingly, making you smile to yourself as you nodded.

You and Cheryl began talking about the date and before you knew it the doorbell rand. You got up and frowned, “I can’t-””Yes you can, come on” she insisted, dragging you to your front door.

When you opened it and saw Jason it seemed fake, he stood tall, red hair messier than usual, a casual outfit on him as he gave a quick smile, looking over to Cheryl.

Cheryl quickly stepped over, “Jason, (Y/N). (Y/N), Jason. I’m sure you two already met while gawking at each other during a football game though” she added slyly, making both you and Jason throw a glare her way.

Quickly grabbing Jason’s arm in a boost of confidence, you dragged him out, “Bye, Cheryl!” you shouted sarcastically as you walked towards the familiar neon sign at Pop’s diner.

Jason laughed to himself, and the sound was soothing, “Hey uh, I just want you to know that you’d better be like Cheryl said, and not the Jason I always see swooning girls at school” you said lamely. Jason just smiled, “Well I hope she didn’t paint me out to be some hero or some dick because i’m neither of those. I just want you to think of me as some guy, not ‘Jason Blossom, the captain of the football team’” he said quickly, looking over to you nervously.

You bit your lip in thought, “This is a step in the right direction. I can’t think of you as ‘some guy’ but I can think of you like I thought of Cheryl” you said finally, looking over to Jason.

Jason nodded quickly, “And how did you think of her?” he asked curiously, glancing at you from the corner of his eye as you neared Pop’s, “Someone who was ruined and forced to act a certain way because of family reputation” you put simply, glancing to see his reaction.

Jason looked at you solemnly, “How often does Cheryl talk about us?” he asked, opening the door for you to enter the diner before him. You stepped inside, walking to your favourite seat in the back, “Not too often, but i’ve seen the way your parents are, no offence” you muttered out quickly, sitting down.

Jason shook his head, “Let’s talk lighter, I don’t want you to think of me as some victim. I’ve done bad shit that I shouldn’t have, you know that” he said sincerely, looking around the diner to avoid your gaze.

You nodded, “Lets not talk about that, I want our first official ‘date’ to be happier, the sad shit can happen later” you replied in a light tone, smiling at Jason when he looked back to you.

He nodded, “Right of course. By the way, I’ve been meaning to ask you, is it true that you befriended Cheryl after you threw a water balloon filled with paint at her face from the roof?” he laughed, giving you a questioning look.

You nodded bashfully, hiding your face behind your hands, “Yes I thought it would be funny, I’m surprised she didn’t kill me. I was surprised at my aim though, it was pretty good, if I do say so myself” you said jokingly, peeking our from behind your hands to see Jason laughing silently.

The rest of the night continued with lighthearted jokes and smiles. Jason walked you back to your house, and was greeted by a very excited Cheryl who quickly brought both of you in.

Jason walked into your kitchen, you and Cheryl following as you mouthed a ‘thank you’ to Cheryl, who smiled and mouthed an ‘I told you so’ back.

Little did you know, Jason talked about you nonstop to Cheryl all the time after that. The three of you spent the rest of that night together making jokes, watching movies, and trying to forget about any reputations you would deal with when you got back to school the next day.
