Dress, early 19th century

This regency styled dress still carries a bit of the Rococo era - the fabric is a floral Spitafileds brocade from between 1748-55. The back of the bodice also has a small flounce, hinting towards the jacket-and-skirt style of the late 18th century. It’s likely the dress was remodeled from an earlier attire. But it’s gotten the high-waisted bodice and narrow skirt of the Regency era.

Used in Vestfold, South-Eastern Norway.
