spirit of the border

My favourite BL stories

I decided to make the list because of my own curiosity(?) and desire to share this with you :P (I made another two list with yaoi/shonen ai recommendation ..you can check it here –> PART 1 and PART 2)

I’m in BL for about half a year and I must say that I really like the genre :) I mean I don’t like the typical yaoi with rushed story and relationships…like i don’t anything typical (shojo, kdrama, anime)
And for those I’m about to talk about you could check it out even if you are not in yaoi genre ;)

1. Doukyuusei

My number ONE story is Doukyuusei (Movie+manga sequels). It’s probably biased because its holding special meaning for me. It was my first BL story and it was actually the movie which made me also read the mangas too. I decided to watch it because i saw a lot of gifs on tumblr and i thought that Kusakabe was a girl (how silly of me). I’m glad i watched it, because it actually changed me as a person, or better my views on people with same sex orientation changed completely –> my family is Quite traditional so I was thought that same-sex relationship was wrong (not acceptable).
The story show us pure feeling about falling in love (it’s not about the gender but about the person–> you are my most important person) and here we have also portrayed realistic, healthy relationship (sweetness, misunderstandings, make ups) =D
The movie i recommend to everyone. Then you’  ll see if you want to continue with mangas.

Author: Asumiko Nakamura

2. Canis Series

This story and it’s way of showing same-sex relationship was definitly far from typical shonen ai.  This story contradicts every comment about manga or anime., especially shonen ai genre where’s lacking depth or meaning or creativeness. The story and relationship are not rushed, the most appealing was ending of first story(it’s still going on).
The art is outstanding compared to other mangas. It really fits the story.
I definitly recommend it…even to those who are not it this genre :)

Author: ZAKK, Hachie Ichie

3. Soredemo, Yasashii Koi wo Suru

Thank god Yoneda Kou made that spin off into a actual story/masterpiece. I love all Yoneda Kou’s work and i have 2 in my TOP 5 :) This story is spin off from Doushitemo Furetakunai and talks about two really good friends when one is in love with another. It can be said that the trope of “gay man and straight man” tends to be overused, but Yoneda Kou pulls it off flawlessly. I like the whole process of falling in love and acknowledging that love-confessing-confusing feeling-akward situations-decide or chose between romantic relationship or brake up the friendship. I read it so many time that I don’t count anymore…and it’s really satisfying.

Author: Yoneda Kou

4.Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai

I just can’t describe with words how many emotions this manga brings out of me. It’s still ongoing so maybe that’s the cause because every new chapter is nerve wracking but satisfying at the same time. When I saw summary of the story i decided to read it because i was really interested in which way/how Will the main character recieve happiness (from summary: This is the story of a man who has never known happiness and of a man who is reborn by getting to know him.). Now that I read it till now I must say that I truly want that Yashiro find his own happiness (the prequel really touched my soul and I just pray that Yashiro would be told that he’s not alone anymore by Doumeki–> look prequel). This one is pretty great masterpiece by Yoneda Kou which i think is really good read for any yaoi fan.

Author: Yoneda Kou

5.Honto Yajuu

I think this one was my first actual yaoi(after Doukyuusei) and I wasn’t disappointed. The story is simple and the relationship is not complicated. The manga is truthfully one of the most refreshing ones. Yamamaoto Kotetsuko is known for one of the most cutest artstyle and stories. And it’s true…this manga is with one Word…CUTE :D <3

Author: Yamamoto Kotetsuko

This are my TOP 5 BL stories…yet i still have some of honorable mentions:

6. Smells like green spirit : great shonen ai…realistic

7. Hana nomi zo shiru : my favourite Rihito Takarais work.

8. Border : for those who like shonen ai and crime genre.

9. Sojou no koi wa nido haneru : one of the most realistic interpretation of gay-straight relationship.

10. Bokura no negai/Neon Sign Amber/Doushitemo Furetakunai : MUST READ ;)

That’s all…maybe you could send your own top 10 list :D really appreciated :D

  1. It’s a Mexican Spirited Away
  2. A character introduced as a homeless con artist in drag trying to trick spirit world border security turns out to be one of the most achingly sympathetic characters of all time
  3. It turns the cliche “reach for your dreams!!1” theme into the much more nuanced/important “reach for your dreams but don’t sacrifice relationships with the people you love along the way”
  4. Frida Kahlo
  5. It’s a movie about family that never hesitates to remind you that a family’s love shouldn’t be conditional and they need to accept and support you
  6. Matriarchy
  7. Starts with “woman and child abandoned by deadbeat dad” and instead of cutting off the backstory there, the story cheerfully goes “well she rolled up her sleeves and opened a business and did dang well for herself”
  8. The songs are RAD
  9. Shows you don’t have to forgive someone in order to show them kindness
  10. Will genuinely make you feel better about death
  11. Tender portrayal of dementia (in a childrens movie!!)
  12. Skeleton in suspenders
  13. It’s really fun to watch skeletons move around in clothes in general
  14. (this should be number one) Will deepen your appreciation for the beauty of Mexican culture, esp Dia De Muertos
  15. Ft. A Very Good Boy (Dante the pupper)
Best way to get started with spirit work: Talk to plants (No I’m serious. Talk to them.)

So I talk a bit about my spirit companions all too often and to be honest, it’s still a very new experience to me and I’m still learning a lot about it. I’m also learning how to travel astraly (which I’m getting a little better but still need a lot of practice). And I’m sure some of you have been wanting to get into it and don’t know how. But I’m about to share with you the best thing I’ve learned about trying to communicate with spirits:

Learn to communicate with plants first.

And here’s why I say this:

Imagine a hedge that separates you the physical plane from the astral plane. And to be able to get to the astral plane and talk to the spirits and astral beings on the other side, you have to get on the other side of that hedge. How do you do that? You can’t cut down the hedge; and you can’t walk right through it. You could probably find a way to go over it but that takes a lot of work. So what’s the easiest way to get there?

By befriending the hedge. And how do you befriend the hedge? By becoming a friend to all plant life.

Plants have a presence in both the physical and astral realm. You see a tree here, you’ll see a dryad in the astral realm. You see flowers, you’ll see their spirits. All plant life, big and small, make up the hedge. They border on the physical and spirit worlds and are the gatekeepers. They let those who pass who they feel are worthy. If you befriend them, they’ll open a path and help you. They’ll guide you and teach you how to work in both existences.

And to be honest, they have a lot to say if you just listen to them. The tall trees have been around a long time; they have stories to tell. The flowers love when you notice their beauty. The grass will teach you things from their perspective. Just get in touch with nature!

Befriend the animals too. They coexist with them and they coexist with you (when we’re not hurting them with our destructive human nature). The plants look after them, and if they see that you care for all forms of life, they’ll start to see you as a friend.

If you can learn how to talk and listen to the plants, then you’ll learn how to talk and listen to spirits. After all, in order to befriend the dead, you have to befriend life; no matter what shape or form it comes in. Even if you’re not a green witch, this will really come in handy.

Before the set releases tomorrow, I just wanted to say a quick word about something very important to Unstable - play behavior. Magic can be a very competitive game and that’s great. We have a giant organized play system set up to let people test their skills against one another. Unstable though is pushing towards the other end of the spectrum, Magic as a fun social activity.

Part of having the best Un-experience, is entering it with the idea that it’s more about the experience than the outcome. Yes, you can try to win, but please do so with the spirit of silver border in mind. When you come to a fork between doing something awesome or doing something boring but more likely to win, consider taking the awesome path.

You win at Unstable if you walk away having had a great time, so please, just enter into this experience with the mindset that it’s okay to not always play optimally if doing so creates a fun story and would lead to having an overall better experience.

Trust me, Magic will return to its normal (for some) competitive mindset soon enough.

The Crystal Fence:

This is something that helps ward off negative energies and unwanted attention, but as a preventative measure. The Crystal Fence is something put into play, typically when a person has just moved into a place of residence, and after the area has been cleansed. Some cases, the area is fine as is, and the Crystal Fence can be placed without need to cleanse the air or land. This is a judgment call, but if you are unsure, best to do a cleansing to be on the safe side.

This fence is made by the use of quartz crystals, but you may use another crystal if you prefer. How this is done, is before you settle in for your first night, as often that is when energies will start to hone in on where you are, you get yourself 4 or 5 quartz crystals, and bring them into a safe space to program them. Before you instill your rules and energy into these stones, make certain you are not making your fence something that will ward off helpful land spirits that may already live there, or other types of beings that also may already live there. This is disrespectful, and may cause problems later on.

The Procedure:

  • Four crystals is all that is needed for the fence itself, but the fifth is sort of a heart of the network. The four make up the fence itself, the fifth is sort of the charging base of the network you will be creating. The fifth, as I stated, is optional.

  • In the safe space you create, take your time with the stones each, instructing them of exactly what it is you want them to do. Tell them that they are to hold the intention and energy you give them, and they will form a network connecting to one another. Take the time to make certain the stones are each radiating with the proper energy, and give them the rules of the Fence. This will vary on your individual desires, but generally it is used to ward off unwanted energies and presences, so stating what energies are allowed, versus which ones it is to deter is the most effective approach. Example: “Crystals selected for this purpose, you are hereby tasked with forging an energetic barrier around this dwelling. None may pass this border that seek to cause harm, to misguide, to cause misfortune and trouble, or to create a negative space within these borders. Energies allowed to pass through these borders are those who are benevolent, Earth Tender Spirits that have no ill intent, and any that come with my highest good at heart, or who are seeking guidance but have no hidden ulterior motives. Higher vibrational energies may cross this border, if their energy is that of calm, neutral, harmless, and helpful. Lower vibrational energies will not register this place, and will thus remain unaware of its existence, as this fence will mask it from them. This fence refuses all who stand opposed to the ideals held by its borders. Any who breach this line will feel utterly uncomfortable in this space, and turn back immediately to be rid of the uncomfortable sensations caused by this fence.” This can be tailored to your needs/wants, this is an example of how I set these up.

  • Once the stones have been programmed and charged, take the four border stones and bury them at the four edges of your property line. If you so wish it, you may have them above ground in some sort of special place of your making for safe-keeping, but make certain it is not something insulated or artificial that may block its energy flow, or cut it off from the charges of the Earth’s surface. Conductive, natural materials are best. It is also best to keep them close to the ground.

  • The fifth stone, should you choose to use the five, will be placed in the heart of your home, or as close to it as you can get it. This can be in a decorative manner, but make certain it will not be disturbed by any animals or visitors to your home. Only you should handle the stones of your fence, unless you made this border with another person as well, in which case all involved may do so. This stone, once placed, is where you will do the final stage of the process. Link the border stones to the central ‘heart’ stone, and tell them they are now active, and all four border stones will be threaded through the central stone. This is your charging stone, and you may charge this how you see fit. Generally, the stones will draw energy from nature to keep powered, but your intention may start to weaken. A sigil with your intent is a good way to recharge the stones, or simply say another blessing over the heart stone, and reaffirm the strength and intention of your borders through it. Once the central stone is charged to your desire, tell it to send the energy through to the four connected border stones. This will recharge the current that runs through them. You will likely know when your walls are weakening and should be recharged.

This is a customizable procedure as well, but however you do this, please remember to make certain you are not doing this in an area already tainted. If you already live somewhere and want this fence in your space as well, clear it out before you set the borders!

If you live in an apartment or somewhere similar that has no yard, you may make the border within your walls. Have the four border stones in as close to the four corners of your apartment’s borders as you can get them. The idea is to seal off the entire place to these unwanted energies or visitors.

NOTE: If you create this border, it may make some people in your life suddenly not want to spend time at your place. If this happens, it means that their energy does not match up with how you’ve programmed your fence. Sometimes this is a good thing, particularly so if you are uncomfortable with said person, or just generally don’t like them. This can happen with family, as I have learned in making these fences. Energies that do not line up with your border’s rules will not like to cross that threshold, and the feeling remains highly uncomfortable for them, even running them off in many cases. They may not understand why they feel that way, but they will appear less and less, or try to get you to go to them. Things that do not resonate often will fall away.

A traditional drink is giving a boost to the economy of one of the poorest states in Mexico. It’s called mezcal, a pungent booze made from the agave plant — the same plant used to make Mexico’s biggest spirit export, tequila. Investors north of the border are taking notice of Mezcal’s newfound popularity and are flocking to the southern state of Oaxaca, its main production hub.

The heart of mezcal country is in Oaxaca’s central valley. Small, traditional producers distill the spirit alongside their crops and farm animals. Mezcal is prepared in distilleries called palenques, barn-like structures where the agave plant’s thick, tall leaves are shaved with machetes and crushed. The sweet extract juices are then distilled into the smoky, clear alcohol.

Demand for mezcal is growing. Last year it was Mexico’s third-largest alcoholic export, behind beer and tequila, generating more than $26 million, according to the Mexican government.

Who The hell was Lucien on "patrol" with?!

“Lucien kept rubbing at his temples as he ate, unusually silent, and I hid my smile as I asked him, “And where were you last night?”

Lucien’s metal eye narrowed on me. “I’ll have you know that while you two were dancing with the spirits, I was stuck on border patrol.”

Tamlin gave a pointed cough, and Lucien added, “With some company.”

the dream we dream together here (Zutara Week 2017: Soulmates)

*shows up late with Starbucks* Anyway, this is my very late submission for ZK Week 2017, under the Day 6 ‘Soulmates’ prompt (namely: the idea that you see your soulmate as a ghost after s/he dies, which is… admittedly just a very flimsy excuse for me to write my two favourite things: snow and angst, but oh well)

A hundred years from now, dear heart,
We shall not mind the pain;
The throbbing crimson tide of life
Will not have left a stain.
The song we sing together, dear,
The dream we dream together here,
Will mean no more than means a tear
Amid a summer rain.

A List of Things You Learn Growing Up in the South Pole

1. Things disappear.

Amongst the glaciers, transience is a concept everyone learns from childhood. Nothing ever stays. Snowflakes melt the moment you tip your face up to them, there and gone in a blink as they catch on your eyelashes. You wake up one morning to find half the village’s meat supplies gone, dragged by wolves into the tundra sometime in the night. Every year when the worst of the blizzards hit, there are always people who go missing, caught in the storm and unable to find their way home, their cries indistinguishable from the screaming of the winds outside the heavy folds of the tents.

Things disappear. Mothers are alive one moment, and gone the next. Fathers kiss you goodbye and vanish over the waves, bringing all the men of the village with him as they sail into war.

You dumb-dumb, Sokka says to her once when she is six years old, when he jumps triumphantly out at her from where she is hiding, giggling, behind the alcove where the Southern Water Tribe stores their firewood. That’s gotta be the easiest game of Hide-and-Seek anyone’s ever played. You gotta learn to hide your footprints, Katara. I followed them all the way here.

She sticks her tongue out at him. I hate snow! If we didn’t live in the South Pole, you wouldn’t have been able to find me.

Maybe, Sokka says. But I like it. I like seeing where people go, or where they come from. I like that people know where I am. He jumps away from her, sending a spray of snow in the air, his boots leaving a perfect imprint in the white. It’s like a stamp, see? I am here!

Yeah, I guess snow isn’t so bad, Katara says. If we didn’t live here, I couldn’t do this.

Sokka turns just in time for the snowball to hit him in the face.

(2. How to run from your brother.)

Later, they walk home, Sokka keeping a firm grip on his sister’s hand as dusk begins to fall, as the Southern Water Tribe begin to light their lanterns. Katara looks over her shoulder behind them to see the trail of their footprints already vanishing under the falling snow.

I am here, Sokka had declared, a wild and defiant clarion call. I am here! But Katara looks at her footprints which are already beginning to fill in, and thinks instead, I am disappearing.

3. Things reappear.

But the sea never takes without giving back. Amongst the glaciers, return is also a concept everyone learns from childhood. Driftwood you hurl into the ocean one summer washes up on the black shores the next. Star-flowers survive the ice and the hail to push their weary heads out into the weak sunlight every spring.

The Avatar, a hundred years later, turns up in an iceberg.

And three months after his funeral, Katara wakes up one night to see Zuko sitting on her bed.

Omg ur a hedge witch?? Im on mobile so sorry if u have a faq but what kinda books or just regular things would u advise to someone (me lol) whos interested in becoming a hedge witch?

Not a worry, Nonny. This is not an often asked question so it is not on my FAQ’s. Sorry it’s taken so long to reply, but I’m more or less learning about this path as well, so I made up a quick bare-bottom basic guide to Hedge Craft.

Beginning to be a Witch

Be it Hedge Witch or otherwise, I highly suggest you start out with the basics. Learn for yourself what magic is and how it works. Learn meditation, grounding, centering. Study, read, research all that you can. Also, delve into shadow work. Shadow work is, in my opinion, important for any witch, but when delving into the realm of spirits and such, it’s important to know who you are.

Shadow Work

I would highly recommend Teal Swan’s book The Completion Process. This book is the last book on shadow work you will ever need. It’s about $10 on Amazon and I’ll let you figure out shadow work from there, since this post is to specifically talk about Hedge Craft.

So What is a Hedge Witch?

To quote Sarah Anne Lawless, “The word hedgewitch comes from the Saxon word haegtessa meaning ‘hedge-rider’. The hedge in hedge witchery is not a fence of shrubs and wildlife, but instead represents the border between our material world and the otherworld – the unknown. In trance-work (also called journey-work, journeying or just “travelling”) the hedgewitch crosses this border in order to contact spirits on the other side to learn from them and bring back knowledge to the material world.” (x)
This is rather similar to Shamanic trance. Shamans existed before witches and a lot of their work stemmed into what we know of our craft today. Shamans, traditionally, would induce trance states through varying methods, ranging but not limited to, flying oil, hallucinogens, alcohol, drugs, vigorous dancing, drumming, chanting, and fasting. This would make traditional Shamans often appear as sickly. Hedge Witches can be compared to Shamans in many ways, but what makes a Shaman unique from a hedge witch is their ability to mend and heal souls.

Cool! Can I Talk to Spirits Now?

I mean, yeah that’s a good start. I’m only just now learning hedge work. Before that I was a spirit worker and astral traveler. Yes, there is a difference between hedge flying and astral travel/projection. Some may claim these are similar, and they are in nature, but there are distinct differences between the two.

Astral Travel/Projection: A way to traverse to spiritual realms through means of a relaxed trance (projection you nearly have to be asleep). This takes practice with meditation, visualization, and a lot of discernment. There are thousands of posts about discernment in spirit working tags, so feel free to peruse that.

Hedge Riding: (Also known as jumping, riding, crossing, etc.) Is generally achieved through erratic trance (as mentioned above regarding shamanic trance) wherein travels you embark on are out of your control.

Until recently I thought they were the same, however, the biggest difference is control.
When you’re astral traveling, for example, let’s assume you access the astral realm through a mental door. You go to the door and request to enter the catacombs. If you know how to do this properly, you should open your door and ta-da you’re in the catacombs.
When Hedge Riding, you don’t have that option. You go where the visions take you. You may kick start it with an intention in mind, traditionally utilizing the symbolism of the Tree of Life, however who you meet, what transpires, what is shown to you, is completely out of your control. People more experienced with Hedge Riding are able to shape shift to adapt to the ever-changing atmosphere of their surroundings.

I would highly recommend you study spirit work and astral travel or astral projection before exploring hedge craft.

I’m so Ready to Advance to Hedge Craft

Exciting! Me too. Let’s embark on this path. Take notes, ride with pure intentions, and be ready to die. Yes, I said die. I die a lot in my hedge riding adventures. I’ve died a lot more crossing the hedge than I ever did astral traveling. This could just be a me thing, but I don’t know a lot of other Hedge Witches on a personal level. I’d love to hear more from more experienced Hedge Witches too.

Happy Travels

Welcome Friends,
today I´ll tell you a bit about Shimenawa, the rope used in Shinto all around Japan.
First of Shimenawa (jpn. 標縄 ) means enclosing rope. This already signifies the role it plays in Shinto. It serves as a purifying border that wards off evil spirits. It is often decorated with Shide paper to further strengthen the barriers.
Shimenawa often hang on entrances of sacred areas, such as Shrines, and around sacred dwellings of deities like trees and stones. Cutting down such trees is said to bring misfortune, because you destroy the home of a Kami. In addition to trees and stones, also champions of Japans national sport Sumo use Shimenawa to show of their rank. This is because they are believed to be walking Shintai (object which a kami dwells in).

I hope you found this entry interesting, more of them will follow with topics centred around Shinto, Buddhism and Shugendo.

Vampiric Celestial Spirits

I wanted to dedicate a post to vampiric celestials as they are quite rare, and considerably different to other vampires, hence why I have given them a name to distinguish them like this as being different! Given that I identify as a psychic vampire, and my spirit love a hybrid, there are quite a few vampiric spirit types that I can work with exclusively, and this is perhaps the rarest!

Please keep in mind there can be exceptions and deviations, and other vampires can also have some of these qualities, just usually not all of them together. I am not so eloquent at putting this sort of thing into words, so don’t hesitate to throw me ask if you want to know more!

  • Energy wise, vampiric celestials are brighter and cooler than other vampiric spirits, they are usually on the border of white/dark energy, leaning toward white. I find that when working with most vampires, they have a warm, and heated energy, and often in both color, and intensity, and temperature. This can cause those that work with them to become flushed, or to feel warmer. Sanguine typically have the warmest temperature and colors. With vampiric celestials, however, while they have a bright energy, it is usually white, gold, or blue, and feels cooler. It isn’t a cold energy per say, but cool, like a swimming pool. Even if they have a darker energy for a vampiric celestial, it generally has a different composition than an otherwise dark energy vampire.

  • Vampiric celestials always tend to be toward the psychic spectrum, although this doesn’t mean that they are never sanguine, but that even when they are it is something they repress within themselves. On the rare case you can come across a hybrid, but more often than not sanguine, while it might be to their natural preference, they attempt to rid themselves of that desire completely.

  • In terms of how they like to receive energy, it is usually via one energy source. This plays a large part into why they are drawn to be closer to a human. While they can feed off excess energy of nature and other life forms around them, that is much like a person surviving on only celery; it is not at all providing what they need to be strong, powerful, and healthy spirits. Compared to other vampires, vampiric celestials are much more particular, and are drawn to an energy in a similar way that a human would experience a calling to a spirit, and will become exclusive to that energy source given the opportunity. They might even go as far as starving themselves when that is not available to them, when most other vampires will find other options.

  • When it comes to their history and past, most of them appear to have no recollection or memory before being upon the astral. I suspect, originally, vampiric celestials fell from a much higher vibration, perhaps being a member of an angel faction or similar. I find that vampiric celestials have this strong desire toward a specific person, which reflects a somehow guardian angel type role, only it is of mutual benefit.

  • They are also immensely skilled healers, and out of other spirits that I have worked with, seem to have the highest capacity to experience empathy and compassion. In terms of behaviour, they are far less aggressive than other vampires, though not less dominant, but much more passive in regards to their actions and behaviour. They don’t feel the need to dominate, or to hold a level of dominance over another, they are aggressive only when it is in the best interest of the one they have chosen, or in self defence. Basically they’re like vampiric monks, just without the celibacy.

  • As for energy consumption, with vampiric celestials I have noticed they have mastered the ability to ping energy back and forth, doing so does two different things. One, they project their energy at their “patient” which will help to heal and strengthen their donor, then the energy is bounced back once it reaches an excess. Vampiric celestials are drawn to those that are more aware, and work with energy, possibly for this reason. It means that energy exchanged can be increased by bouncing it between each other, thus it is of mutual benefit to both. The energy is also of higher quality, and often has a higher emotionally fulfilling capacity. Best way to describe it is that it is the spiritual and none physical equivalent of tantric sex, more or less.

  • In addition to that, they can sustain their energy with pure energy sources, like fire, or electricity, this does help to increase their abilities and sustain them, and can typically be channelled as a source of energy to others. While these sources of energy would not be so useful to them or meet their needs, they have the ability, like many psychic vampires, to channel it through them in order to sustain others. It is also more common to find vampiric celestials who have less aversion to the sun, and they are more likely to be active during the day that most other vampires are.

  • When it comes to companionship, vampiric celestials are extremely dedicated. Once they have decided on the person they want to invest their time in, they are dedicated in doing that. It is why I try to stress with vampiric celestial spirits in particular, that they only send out callings for a life long bond. Developing a bond and a relationship can take much longer, but it can progress to a level other vampires may not be interested in. Other spirits may choose to come into someones life for a short term purpose, vampiric celestials however, do not. They become very devoted and attached to their keeper, and as I have mentioned before, will potentially starve themselves if they are ever cast aside or forgotten rather than attempt to find another source of energy to dedicate themselves to. While I can’t know for sure, I also suspect that many vampiric celestials also follow a soul from life to life, and not just one life time.
