Skincare and Beauty Recommendations

For all you babes, I made a list of my must have stuff to look the best you can go scam an SD

Body- Lush Ro Argan. This stuff is the bomb. It’s a body conditioner that smells like roses and honey. Smear that good stuff all over you and let it sit for five minutes. Wash it off and your body will be soft and smooth, no other products needed. I’ve used this stuff for five years and every person that gets a whiff of it compliments me. Guys go crazy for this scent, especially in the bed room downtown haha.JUST GET IT! You get a shower and body cream in one!

Face Cream- Laneige Water Bank Cream. This shit makes my face look like it’s been kissed by an angel. So dewy and soft! I feel like I look much younger when I apply this because it hydrates so well. Perfect to use if you want something that traps the moisture in your face and is lightweight. I’ve noticed the dehydration wrinkles I had around my eyes and mouth have diminished. My makeup goes on like a dream after I apply this.

Face- Kojic acid soap. I use this soap for my uneven skin tone and acne spots. I barely wear foundation because it cleared up my clogged pores and hyperpigmenation. Dirt cheap off Amazon. Haven’t had a major breakout since I used this the past 3 years.

Perfume- Tom Ford private Collection comes in 12 scents. With mainstream brands, I feel like ALL WOMEN’s FRAGRANCES smell the same and give me a headache. Too sweet, floral, romantic, too much alcohol, etc. Now, this collection ain’t cheap, so, get a sample from your local department store. They give it to you in a cute vial and box and the sales associates are super knowledgeable about scents. THIS STUFF LASTS A LONG TIME! I wear the Tobacco Vanille all year round. Literally, this scent is my confident booster, I smell unique and luxurious! And the scent projects like a beast, so a 4 ML sample will last you cause all thats needed is a small dab for the day!  I used to buy decants off eBay to save £££ until I got me a SD to buy me the 100 ML hehe.

Sunscreen- Elta SPF 40. This stuff is the best sunscreen on the market and all the dermatologists I’ve seen recommended it. No white cast and absorbs into skin fast, it’s also super moisturizing!

Hair- Bumble Bee Invisible Oil. If you have frizzy, dry, damaged, natural, thick hair, this SHIT IS THE BOMB. This is the only product that works on my hair when I wear it curly and straighten it. It does the job, smells great, and my hair looks so glossy and healthy….best of all it doesn’t weight my hair down or feel greasy.

Mascara- Lacome Hypnose is the only thing I use on my lashes in the past six years. I will NEVER STRAY from Lacome’s mascara products. It makes my eyes look amazing and it’s easy to take off at night. Don’t like the other brands like Benefit or Too Faced which are hard to remove at night.

Makeup Remover- Clinique Take Off the Day Balm. Your makeup literally will melt off when you wash your face with this! I used so many different brands from wipes to oil to alcohol and none of them worked as well as this.

Lipstick- Nars Velvet Lip Pencil in Bahama is the best nude/rosy color out there for all girls IMO. I use the Train Bleu colour (quite vampy) when going out at night and always got compliments! Because it’s a jumbo pencil lippy, you can line your lips easily and fill it in! Lasts all night! Taylor Swift uses their Dragon Girl  shade as her signature red colour according to the makeup artist that showed me.! Best secret lippies around!

Foundation- Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk is a game changer. My skin looks radiant, dewy, and natural which no other foundation has given me. Everyone raves about it and I wish I listened earlier and quit wasting my money at MAC and Estee Lauder.

Concealer- Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer- If you don’t like wearing foundation, this concealer is all you need then. It hides my dark eye circles and any redness on my face like a PRO. Comes with a wand so you don’t need to use anything else when applying it!

Just a skincare PSA…..wearing multiple layers of different SPF does not heighten the UV protection.
Like, if you wear an SPF 30 sunblock and add an SPF 20 cream on top, you are still only protected by SPF 30. It doesn’t equal SPF 50.
If your moisturizer has SPF 15 and then you wear an SPF 40 sunblock, you do not have SPF 55 protection. You only have as much protection as the highest sunblock you applied. They do not add up to higher protection!
Make sure u know how much SPF you are wearing and if it is adequate to protect your skin!!! I ran into this misconception a lot when I worked in skincare.

skin talk

okay, so i thought i would share this with you guys because i know majority of people have acne and flippin hate it !!! (obviously) and i used to suffer from pretty severe acne all over! i just wanted to give u guys some tips and tricks on how i cleared up my acne completely.

-first of all, i started taking birth control. not for preventing to become pregnant, for my skin. my dermatologist suggested it. i’ve been taking it for a little over a year now and i am sure it is one of the major factors that my skin is clear. i noticed that when i went on a 2 week trip and forgot my birth control, that i broke out a bit.

-i started what’s called the ‘caveman regimen’ in february of this year. i did a lot of research as to how to up acne and i found this routine. it consists of basically just doing nothing to your face other than washing with water. and that’s all i’ve done since february. i take a konjac sponge and run it under hot water and lightly exfoliate (it’s barely even exfoliation, it’s that gentle) for about a minute and splash cold water on my face (day & night).

-referring to above, STOP USING SO MANY PRODUCTS ON YOUR FACE!! as an early teen, i thought using multiple drug store acne products (cough clean and clear cough) would clear up my skin- NO!!! it was irritating my skin like crazy! making my acne inflame basically. if u don’t want to try the caveman regimen, invest in a VERY natural face wash, like one from Lush. also, do not wash your face more than twice a day (irritation galore).

-i don’t wear makeup except mascara, but if u have a full face coverage routine, u MUST make sure it is ALLLLL off of your face before u go to sleep. invest in a really good/natural makeup remover (cough-coconut oil) and a good cleanser.

-SPF and moisturizing are KEY!!! i have a spf 40 moisturizer that i use in the morning and a lush moisturizer that i use at night. if u have oily skin, moisturize. if u have acne, moisturize. if u have dry skin, MOISTURIZE. trust me, i used to think that since i had acne and oily skin on my forehead that i wasn’t supposed to moisturize. but ever since i have… guess what……. my skin is clear n glowing!!!!! (i suggest lush moisturizers, they are amazing and healthy for u)

-treat your skin to a homemade mask once every one-two weeks. try a avocado and honey mask, or maybe an aloe vera n garlic mask!!! just google ‘homemade masks’ and tons will come up!!! (just make sure u aren’t allergic to the ingredients, obv)

-yes, your diet does affect your skin. dairy & sugar are two things that personally make me break out if i eat a lot of them. which sucks because my two favourite things in the world are cheese and ice cream… anyway, don’t completely cut them out, just limit them.

-CHANGE. YOUR. PILLOWCASES. i have four pillows and i use all eight sides of each pillow before i wash them all again :-) keep your face clean!!!!!

-wash your makeup brushes/cloths/anything you put on your face. including your hands. i have a soap that i use before bed called carbolic soap (doctors use it before surgery) because i have a habit of touching my face while i sleep.

-yes, water is your friend, but it will not clear up acne on it’s own. i’m sorry.

OKAY so those were some of my experiences and tips on acne!!! i hope i helped u guys in some way!!!! pls message me if u have any questions

Hey so my camera is broken so hopefully you can read what’s on the bottles and also I don’t know how to reply to asks with photos so I’m just making a separate post lol. 😅😅

So these are all the things I use. The serums are in order from my most used to my least used. They’re all from The Ordinary just because they’re really cheap like most things are under $10 and they work so well. They’re a Toronto based company and they have so many stores here so I can just pick one up whenever I’m running out.

My skin is dry and I get acne/congestion so I really like hydration and things that help with ugly skin activity. Honestly I know a lot about skincare, there are so many aspects if anyone has questions let me know I’m just so lazy to type right now.

The moisturizer I use is actually a hand cream but there’s no fragrance and the ingredients are bomb asf. I also use this gentle cleanser and SPF 40 and Azaleic Acid during the day

The last thing I do is kind of weird and I don’t know if it works because I just started it. I pretty much comb rogaine through my brows for them to grow because I have scars on both brows so I want them to not be as obvious. And I have a shoe shiner thing that I use to tame my beard lol

SEPHORA PRO ARTIST PICKS: FESTIVAL BEAUTY

What’s new in Sephora PRO artist Maricela Aguilar’s tool kit for the festival season.

THE PRO

How would you describe your personal beauty style?

“I would describe my personal beauty style as polished, clean makeup that’s precise and defined.”

What’s your first beauty memory?

“A beauty memory I will never forget is when I first fell in love with makeup. I was in elementary school and my older sister would always come home from work eager to try new makeup trends on me. I remember sitting in the bathroom while she applied my makeup, and afterwards I would stare at myself in the mirror amazed at how makeup can enhance and transform a person.”

THE FESTIVAL TIPS

What’s a cool new festival beauty look you love, and how would you create it?

“A new trend that has been really hot so far this year is metallic everything! A few ways to jazz up your festival look is is to grab your favorite metallic eyeliner (my favorites are Anastasia Beverly Hills Metallic Luster Liners). After applying your eye makeup, draw your metallic eyeliner right along your top lash line. If you want a more dramatic look, create a winged liner, or, for something more subtle, just run the liner across your lash line only. Another great way to use metallics is to create a fun, artistic look! Grab a  metallic pencil or liquid liner and draw small dots above your brows, following the shape of your brow. When you meet your dots between your brows create a larger dot at the center. With this design you can also apply jewels for a more eye-catching look. To finish the look off, also apply small dots onto your lips and place the dots at the center of your bottom lip, drawing them toward your chin (this will create a straight line of dots).”

What are your tips for making your look last from the opening act to the final encore—all while you’re dancing and sweating?

“There are three products that are must-haves to ensure your makeup stays all day: BECCA Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector, Milk Studios Cooling Water, and MAKE UP FOR EVER Mist & Fix Setting Spray. I like to combine the primers with the spray. First use one of the primers, spray the mist on top, and then apply your foundation. Again, go in for another spray of the mist to lock it all in.”

THE PICKS

Milk Studios Cooling Water

“I am obsessed with this! It gets hot and sticky at festivals and your makeup tends to melt off. This product acts as a magnet, locking your makeup in place while keeping you cool. Apply it on your face, on top of makeup, on the back of your neck, or on your chest. You can also use it as a primer to help prolong the wear of your foundation during those hot festival days.”

Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara

“It’s perfect to wear during festivals to ensure your mascara doesn’t run or wear off while giving that full lash look.”

COVERFX Enhance Click in Golden Peach

“This product is great for touch-ups throughout the day.”

NARS Laguna Tiare Bronzer

“This is a safer way to get that sunkissed look. I like to use it on the face and body. It makes you look like a bronzed goddess without hitting the harmful rays.”

Clarins UV Plus HP Day Screen High Protection Tint SPF 40

“It will not only protect your skin, but it will also give you a nice tint.”

Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25

“Don’t forget to protect your lips when out in the heat. This balm is a must-have in your bag to help protect against the sun while giving lots of hydration."

Whats your diet and how do you maintain your skin?

For breakfast I mostly eat just oatmeal with fruit or some kind or granola bar if I work that morning. Lunch i’ll have a salad with grilled chicken, strawberrries, blue berries and what not. For Dinner I just have whatever we decided to make/get. My “diet” isn’t really a diet, I don’t eat chocolate and a few weeks ago I kicked all dairy products out of my eating schedule as well. I don’t see it so much as a diet cause I eat like this all the time. I do still eat junk food and what not though I should stop honestly lol.

As for my skin I do A LOT. More then most people do.

  • Morning and night I wash my face with an all natural soap called “African black soap”. This helps even my skin tone, fade any scarring or uneven marks, acts as an exfoliant  and I even use it to shave with instead of typical chemical based shaving gels. Down side is the smell isn’t too great.
  • Once a week I use a PMD, a Personal Microderm device. The PMD basically buffs away all the dead skin on your face and evens your skin tone and makes your complexion look fantastic over time.
  • I also steam my face to open my pores, then I use a charocal mask by daiso to clean out my pores. I’m going to be investing in a better one in the future but I prefer this over nose strips.
  • I wear a UV daily, SPF 40 suncreen whenever I am out in the sun for long periods of times.
  • I also use a variety of facemasks.

Hey Nipah! I was wondering if you have any exercise or beauty routine/diet or any tip for that body and skin you have? You look flawless, how you do it?

I don’t exercise as much as I should honestly! Most I do is I jog a lot.

For diet I don’t drink milk and try to stay away from all dairy in general. I don’t drink soda or many premade juices either, 90% of the time I am drinking just water (other 10% is tea). I don’t eat chocolate, only candy I will occasionally have is sour gummies but thats rare. I don’t eat much red meat either, I get most of my protein from chicken.  For breakfast I’ll have oatmeal or this oat and almond cereal (forgot the brand name lol). Lunch I usually just have a sandwich and maybe a side salad and for dinner I just eat whatever the family makes, or take out. I don’t really have a strict diet asides the first part I mentioned.

Here is my face routine.

  • Morning and night I wash my face with an all natural soap called “African black soap”. This helps even my skin tone, fade any scarring or uneven marks, acts as an exfoliant  and I even use it to shave with instead of typical chemical based shaving gels. Down side is the smell isn’t too great.
