To say that Danny was used to waking up in strange locations was an understatement.
Ever since he had first received his ghost powers unusual things had certainly become a normal occurrence in his life. Such as fighting ghosts, being able to fly, and, of course, waking up in strange places with no idea of how he got there. The glowing chains wrapped around his wrists and ankles, unfortunately, was also not new. In fact, that had become rather common, as well, after meeting Vlad and Skulker.
Now, opening his eyes to see hundreds of Observants? That…that one was new. As was the council members that were all staring at him with varying degrees of disgust, and in a few cases, pity. He couldn’t say he was a fan of the looks, nor the way he had been tossed on the floor like some criminal.
Merry Christmas and Happy Truce to @darkeneddawning! She requested something to do with Ice King Danny–lucky me that she has so many cool drawings and headcanons for it.
Posting it a bit late. My fault for letting this get so long–was having way too much fun with headcanons for this. Enjoy!
Danny took a deep shuddering breath, trying his best to
shake the thrumming weight of exhaustion from his chest. It pressed against him
like a physical mass, turned the pulsing in his veins to sludge. He wanted
nothing more than to crawl back to sleep, but anxiety kept his eyes open. The
adrenaline buzzing through his system forced him into artificial alertness.
He crossed his arms over his chest in an attempt to appear composed.
Opposite him, twelve Observants rung out a perfect
semi-circle. Twelve eyes stared him down. Twelve pale, slick bodies, glistening
as if coated in condensation, walled him in. Running was a poor option, facing
against a dozen creatures who claimed to See All.
observe. They don’t act. They don’t do.
Danny ground his teeth. His mouth tasted sour. He felt
disarmed, knowing that beneath his ghost form he was pajama-clad and half
asleep. It could have been an intentional nighttime ambush, or it could have
been that the Observants had no concept of, nor respect for, human sleep
The silence ate away at his nerves.
“What?” Danny finally
spoke. He sparked a glow behind his eyes, despite the headache the brightness
caused him. Clockwork had suggested that these things frightened easily. Danny
prayed that their All-Seeingness couldn’t call his bluff.
The right-most Observant floated closer. Danny hid his
flinch, pretending to busy himself in the vast foresty void beyond the ring of
Observants. Cold—he’d forgotten how cold the Ghost Zone was. “You wish to know
why we’ve summoned you, is that correct?”
“I wanna know why you think it’s okay to warp me out of bed when I haven’t done anything.” Danny
swallowed, or he tried to; his dry throat betrayed him. “O-or is it my future self again? You planning to fight
me yourself instead of having Clockwork do the dirty work? That’s good by me.
Been wanting the chance to play ‘rock, paper, finger-to-the-eyes’ with you creeps.”
How about an AU that is sort of like MerDanny, except without mermaids of any sort?
Wait no, hear me out here.
In essence, in this AU a halfa’s physical ghost traits, although not colouration, get transferred to their human halves. This means that Vlad has had to have the points taken off his ears with cosmetic surgery, filed down his fangs until they’re as flat as the rest of his teeth, and is unreasonably and dangerously top heavily buff. After all, he needs to maintain appearances as a millionaire.
Danny, on the other hand, only experienced one change, but it was a doozy, waking up with his legs gone and in their place a spectral tail faithfully and permanently recreated in spine and muscle and vein. As a result, when in public in human form he is confined to a wheelchair, the appendage covered in blankets. It’s slightly uncomfortable, especially since the tail tries to instinctively move; swishing from side to side as a default that doesn’t count reactions.
Later on, specter speeder tech gets put in it so it can hover. He’s really happy about this, especially since it means Dash can’t push him over anymore, although “accidentally” running over his foot was fun. And, yes, the tail does give an edge in swimming.
Just a quick nap in the Specter Speeder couldn’t hurt, right? Danny had been exhausted, and this was the quietest place in the house, especially given the fact that the holidays were coming up. Just a quick rest, then back to studying. Just a quick… nap…
BEEP BEEP BEEP! REAL WORLD ITEM DETECTED! BEEP BEEP BEEP! REAL WORLD ITEM DETECTED!
“YESI’MSTUDYING- Uh… That’s not good. “
Something from outside of the Ghost Zone was currently in there, and from the looks of the scanner, it was something living. This wasn’t the first time some unsuspecting person had fallen into a portal, but that didn’t make it any less dangerous for them. Danny figured he better go get them before Walker or any other less-than-friendly ghost came along.
“ Going ghost! “
After a quick transformation, he turned on the Specter Speeder and swiftly glided through the portal. Hopefully, whoever they were, they weren’t too panicked about falling into a new dimension.
