speaker sound

the fact that the Russian language doesn’t have articles makes me go ??????????????? because in a native English speaker’s head it sounds like a hilarious shitpost type thing

so when you ask someone “Где водка?” it translates to “where is the vodka?”

but in my horrible backwards english brain if I don’t see any articles I assume they aren’t there, so yelling “ГДЕ ВОДКА” translates to “WHERE VODKA” like some kind of drunken maniac who you definitely should not give vodka to

what is 3D audio?

3D audio effects are a group of sound effects that manipulate the sound produced by stereo speakers, surround-sound speakers, speaker-arrays, or headphones. This frequently involves the virtual placement of sound sources anywhere in three-dimensional space, including behind, above or below the listener.

Axl: I can’t help it. I either stand there bored or I run back and forth. And I kinda get into dancing. I didn’t even know that I like what I do. I just, I looked down at my feet and go “what am I doing now?” but I feel like if I stand there, then people think “oh this is boring” so I gotta do something and I just try to do whatever happens. It’s a lot of fun. I thought about taking dance lessons and stuff but then I was worried about getting too stale, being too much like organized and everything. I like the spontaneity of just whatever happens, keeps it real raw and fresh. If it got too ballet’ed out, I couldn’t handle that.

So I went to an anti-DAPL rally in New York this evening and I was in the crowd but I couldn’t see the speakers well and the sound from the bullhorn was a bit muffled. At one point a woman was introduced and I couldn’t see who it was or hear her name but her voice was very familiar. I was trying to place it when someone said it was Jane fucking Fonda and I almost screamed because here I am in the presence of Queen Leona Lansing who was being badass and advocating for indigenous rights and it was just beautiful I’m done.

People need to fall in love more. We spend too much time caring about others’ opinions that we forget about our own feelings.

Fall in love with art. The way a photographer captures the little light in someone’s eye when they laugh. How they scrunch up their nose while lifting their hand to their mouth and turning away from the lens. The way you can see a painter’s brush strokes when you stare at a painting too long. How something the artist thought was wrong, is so innately beautiful. Fall in love with art.

Fall in love with music. The way a singer’s voice starts to shake during an emotional song. How they start to loose their breath during live versions. The way the drums start to match your heart beat and calm you down. How the musician will laugh when they messed up because they were so invested in the song. Fall in love with music.

Fall in love with language. The way the speaker sounds like they are singing to a silent song. How you start to pick up words in foreign languages you never learned. The way one word can have thousands of pronunciations and sounds. How accents and dialects make ordinary words lovely. Fall in love with language.

Fall in love with reading. The way the author put in too many run ons. How it’s repetitive or drastic or horrifying or captivating. The way old books smell and the feeling of turning a page. How you have to change the brightness on your phone because you stayed up too late invested in that story. Fall in love with reading.

Fall in love with people. The way a stranger looks around before picking up a heads up penny. How they quirk their head to the side to read the poster you’ve passed a million times. The way your best friend rambles about their interests and hobbies. How people feel comfortable enough to put their legs on you and fall asleep. Fall in love with people.

We need to take a moment and appreciate things that we’ve forgotten about. Care about the little things and forget about others’ opinions. We need to fall in love more.

From Star vs. the Forces of Evil - Starsitting. A few people have asked for Star’s ringtone since Fetch. Here’s a longer version than the one used in that ep. This is her theme sent through some 8-bit instruments. The bass is a little loud, because when you crank it through a cellphone’s speaker it sounds just a smidgen better this way.

I like how Star has a picture ID for Buff Frog. I think the only person I have a picture ID for is my wife.
