Living Room Slayer

So I found this cool custom Xbox 360 design earlier today of two Spartans hiding behind seperate sides of the console.

That gave me an idea to make the poster in Source Filmmaker as you see above. While I couldn’t do the custom paint scheme on the Xbox itself, I managed to replicate it to the best of my ability. Hope you guys like it!

Whoever did this amazing design…. amazing job. I won’t take credit for what you made, but thanks for the inspiration!

So to retaliate against all my saltiness, my brain brought up something quite pleasant that I hadn’t noticed before.

Sexiness is practically non-existent in the Halo universe.

Like, probably the closest thing we have to sexy is Cortana, and she’s not even portrayed as sexy, she simply has the appearance of a nude, young woman. Yet her nudity is never brought up. She’s considered beautiful, not sexy.

Halo has few female aliens (which they make up with a near-equal ratio of male/female human characters), but those few female aliens we have seen don’t even have breasts or “feminine” traits. We had a book cover featuring a female Sangheili and her chest was completely flat (which is a blessing, considering Sangheili are based off reptiles.)

Armor is completely gender neutral, and it wasn’t until the Spartan VIs that the armors appearances gained more personality. And even then….

One of these Spartans is a woman, can you guess which?

And then there’s my favorite bit: the topic of beauty. Sexiness doesn’t play a role in Halo, but beauty most certainly does. Of course, we all know Cortana’s considered beautiful, but you know who else is considered beautiful?

This is Isabel, a new character to be featured in Halo Wars 2, and this is the commentary given by Craig Drake, who painted the game’s posters:

“I’m elated to contribute my visions to the Halo Wars 2 universe. It was an honor to depict Decimus’ crushing brute power as well as Isabel’s intelligence and beauty.”

By many accounts, Isabel would probably be considered pretty, not beautiful, but Halo says otherwise.

The majority of Halo’s women are not conventionally beautiful; they’re old, they have eye bags, unfull lips, and “too” big noses, all the traits that mainstream media teaches us are ugly. And yet not a single one of these women are deemed ugly by the narrative. They’re all unique with vibrant personalities, all beneficial to the story - their appearance does not define them and yet they are all so beautiful.

Halo has done a quite a few shitty things to their women [side-eyes Halo 3 and Halo 5], but they have such a progressive and natural way of depicting them that I don’t think I’ve seen in any other video game, and it’s why Halo will always be my favorite.

Fully Loaded

Just had this idea of maybe having Ben fully equipped for combat in a poster. Thus, I came up with this image of him loaded with dual Magnums, an Assault Rifle, an Energy Sword and a hard case attachment from Reach (I won’t make this a permanent attachment, however).

Hope you guys like it!

The Entire comic of DogTag Origins

It took an entire month and some heartbreak (page 7 being corrupted and having to start over again.)

But I’m extremely proud of how the pages turned out especially my go at trying to do lighting for the pages it was definitely something new!

Anyways as you can tell by now the ODST (name Gunnery Sergeant Louis Darby.) saved Wasp when she was just a child on the planet of Nesoi, he took care of her for 3 days (Nesoi’s day is 17 hours long.) while getting her to a evacuation station.

That was the last time he saw her and her him. But he left an enormous impression on the young Wasp, she wanted to make something of herself, she aspired to be like the man who saved her and was kind to her while her home turned into a crematory. Even at 6 years old Wasp wanted to become an ODST when she reached the allowed age to join the UNSC forces in the fight against the Covenant. But her thought out future was changed when months later ONI agents collected Wasp and offered a position in the SPARTAN III Program. She accepted the offer.

When she became apart of Fire Team Quiver years later she modeled herself after ODSTs as much as possible, ODST helmet, gear such as combat knives and other tools ODSTs always keep. But after 2545 a major moment in her life and that of Fire Team Quiver she realized she wasn’t an ODST, she never will or ever could be an ODST she was something more and she needed to strive to be what she was…. a SPARTAN.
Her old ODST gear, irreparably damaged from combat she adopted the standard MJOLNIR of Spartans.

Years after the end of the war with Fire Team Quiver now apart of the SPARTAN IV Program, Wasp saw that on board the UNSC Infinity was a man with the same name, blood type, birthdate and other information as the ODST who gave her his dog tags. Louis Darby had survived the war and was stationed on the UNSC Infinity and now the team lead of ODSTs. She has anxiety on whether to meet him, to show how much he meant to her and how he influenced her in her life. Her fellow team members encouraged her to meet him and so she did.
Wasp gave back Louis his dogtags as a sign of thanks and that she had made it in her own eyes.

Some pretty swell fanart of Ben, both made by @texd41! :)

Just thought I’d post them both in one Tumblr post. Huge props to @texd41 for both pieces, with extra thanks to @bossveteran for requesting the top one as an art trade!

Peacemaker

Thought I’d replicate the ‘Peacemaker’ unlockable stance from Halo 5: Guardians onto my Spartan.

I’d also think that Reach has the coolest designs when it comes to weapons, especially the Magnum. Hope you guys like it!

By the Legend’s Side

Thought I’d post this shot of Ben standing alongside the legendary Master Chief himself in the run-up to Halo 3′s 10th anniversary on September 25th. I loved this game, though it’s sadly the only one not getting the Anniversary treatment that 1 and 2 got.

Hope you guys like it!

No Regrets

“Bad news, the Phantoms are turning around. The fleet is preparing to fire on our position. We need to get out of here!” - Cortana (Halo 2, 2004)

Wanted to do a pose of Ben inspired by this pose the Chief pulls during the closing cutscene of the Halo 2 level ‘Regret’.

Hope you guys like it!

A sneak peek on something that I’m working on.

I’ve always had the idea of creating a video-game boxart based on my character, Benjamin. I originally wanted to make an ‘Alliance’ video game boxart based on my crossover fanfiction, but quickly realised that it woudl just result in company logos EVERYWHERE, based on the amount of franchises it includes. Then I thought to myself “Why not just limit it to Halo?”

And so I have, for the time being, made this W.I.P. boxart. I still need to come up with a subtitle (I’m thinking Halo: Incursion!), a summary of the story (which I’m thinking of setting it 2-3 months after Halo 3, which would explain the old Gen 1 armor) and some screenshots on the back showcasing ‘gameplay’.

I did not make the images present on this box. The front cover was made my DA user LordHayabusa357, while the back cover was done by @cfowler7-sfm. Hope you guys like what’s been done so far!

Takedown (Halo CE)

Some fanart created for the custom Halo CE series ‘Takedown’, which I played through last night. I definitely recommend it if you own Halo: Combat Evolved on PC. All you need to do is download the free Custom Edition, the Universal UI mod (which will allow you to play campaigns in Custom Edition) and of course, Takedown.

Only two instalments are avaliable, Introduction and Project Lawson. A third and final instalment, Extermination, will arrive soon in two parts. Hope you guys like it!

Combine my favourite Halo armor set from the Bungie era (H3 Mark VI) and my favourite helmet from the 343-i era (Recruit), splash on a Star Wars-inspired colour scheme (501st Clone Legion, to be exact!), and you’d have my Spartan. :)

A Moment of Peace

Peace is not a word that Ben comes across often as a Spartan. Just wanted to develop the character a bit, showing that he does have that sense of humanity in him despite being a modified supersoldier weighing half a ton with his armor on.

Hope you guys like it!
