It’s Copa Del Rey time! As a Barça fan, I’ve gotta knock back some Cava in honor! Raspberries and wet stone on the nose. Raspberries, red delicious apples, and not much else on the palate with some tart, but somewhat lingering acidity. Like other Barça seasons, nothing really wrong with this, but we’ve had a LOT better.
Arrrooooooo! It wouldn’t be a howling Sunday funday without some prosecco in the house, amirite? Peaches, apricots, white floral notes, and herbs on the nose. Much the same on the palate with loads of peaches, apricots, white flowers, and golden apples.
i’m excited because tonight i’m going to misa’s place where he has his own room now that his old housemate moved out and we’re gonna watch homecoming king and drink sparkling red wine (well i am at least he’ll probably drink some gross beer) and i get to finally sleep over!!!
Rawr! It’s El Classico today! Força Barça! This lovely Cava puts on some French airs as a Spanish bubbly. Lemon tart, brioche, and even a hint of lime on the nose. Lemon and apple on the palate with hints of marzipan and fresh, crisp acidity.
only like 3 years late (also why is everything alcohol related with me? I'm such a mess)
spent an entire day making cookies for all the cute boys that were going to be at a bonfire that night. Did not eat anything all day except frosting and McDonalds. Did not drink any alcohol, ended up being the only one throwing up at 1am.
got sick to my stomach the night before being part of the Medieval Fair at school because I was so nervous about messing up. In 6th grade. All I had to do was put on a costume.
consistently give in to my dad's attempts to "debate" with me on topics such as" legalization of marijuana, feminism, and Donald Trump. Cry every time.
Drank like 2 gallons of sangria, before being pressured into taking double shots of fireball, malibu rum, and captain on my 21st birthday. Ended up puking in the rain.
went to work the morning after my 21st birthday, hungover as shit and had to sell small, annoyingly happy children pumpkins and apple cider.
drank like three beers at a family cookout, proceeded to tell my little brother that we are best friends, that we need to stay best friends, and that he can't grow up to be weird like Uncle Dave and never come to family functions
emptied an entire bucket of Halloween candy and organized them into physical bar graphs/pie charts. would only let people eat pieces from bars/sections that were uneven and annoying me.
gave members of my family tapes of me singing Disney songs + original songs I made up for Christmas.
decided that the smores flavored vodka that had been hanging around in the pantry needed to go. poured shots of it and walked around handing it out to unsuspecting party goers. pretended like i couldn't hear the coughs and cries of disgust i left in my wake.
went to a Barn Dance, started off drinking Bud Light PLatinums, took way too many swigs from shared bottles of fireball, ended the night with some sparkling red wine. Rode the entire way home with my head out the window, laid face down in my boyfriend's parent's front lawn @ 2am puking for an entire hour. May have rolled around and moaned a lot.
Hi! I'm new to NYC. Here for grad school. Got any tips? Food/cool places/coffee shops/things to do/anything?!/help im going to cry and go home. Thanks!
All I do is eat. That’s all I do in NYC. I mean, I go to drugstores for makeup and supermarkets for low sodium chicken broth and dive bars for 5 dollar gin and tonics with barely any ice, but mostly all I do (and want to do) is eat. So I’m going to list my favorite restaurants, because all I really WANT to do is eat:
L’Artusi (Italian, homemade pasta, try the olive oil cake)
Dirt Candy (all vegetarian, carrot merengue pie, broccoli hot dogs)
Momofuku Milk Bar (crack pie, Christina Tosi)
Talde (pretzel dumplings, bacon egg and cheese fried rice, very cool plates)
Carbone (most expensive meal I’ve ever loved, spicy vodka rigatoni, like the Godfather)
Motorino (meatballs, brussel sprout pizza, sparkling red wine)
Rubirosa (vodka sauce pizza pie, artichokes, thin crust like my grandma liked )
The Commodore (best nachos in the entire world, best green salad that has parsley and pickles, piña coladas)
Giovanni’s Brooklyn Eats (calamari, lady who sits by the bar and compliments you)
MP Taverna (hummus, octopus is one of my favorite foods, big windows, lots of rosé)
Bare Burger (the spot I went on my very first date, said I was sweaty, and then fell in love)
Charlie Bird (makes you feel cool, chicken liver, farro salad)
Momofuku Noodle Bar (salty, yummy, and the soft eggs!)
Perilla (farro risotto, spicy duck meatballs)
Prune (just had their coddled egg and now I am dreaming about their dinner)
Brooklyn Burro (favorite burrito ever)
The Lodge (my favorite brunch is a tempeh bacon sandwich with an over easy egg, tomato, fried okra, and some kind of pesto)
Shake Shack (when I finished my first book I sat alone in a booth and ate cheese fries)
EDIT TO SAY: WHAT are your favorite places to eat in NYC please tell me
A sparkling shiraz from Australia? Yum! All kinds of jam - black currants, blackberries, and mixed berries - on the nose with a hint of mint. Loads of fruit on the palate - blackberries, blueberries, dark plums, and cassis. Almost feels off-dry. Get a little crazy and drink this with some meat with BBQ sauce! It’s like an Australian lambrusco!
I would drink champagne everyday if I could! Especially from grower-producers like this one! Lemon, sourdough, baked apples, and brown pear on the nose. Similar on the palate with a touch of croissant and brioche flakes on the finish. Lovely!
Just me and my sparkling Burgundy rosé hangin’ out on a chill afternoon. Beautiful salmon color on this one with a nose of raspberries, currants, and wild strawberries. Similar on the palate with a hint of lingonberry added in. Nice for the price!
