space drifter

Thought about “Humans are space orcs/space fae”. There was a line talking about how theres a human working on a ship but no-ones entirely sure if they’re meant to be there, but they didn’t want to like offend the terrifying space orc.

What if the “drifter” archetype continues into space? Like maybe we negotiated for free travel with one of our allies, but because humans come from a death world and are terrfiying, and because humans can be oblivious, we just assume we can board on any ship going anywhere, nbd?

like not as stowaways. we’re not hiding. Like those wolves and wild dogs in russia that use the railways. Are YOU going to tell a wolf they shouldn’t be riding the train?!? Thought not.

We need those space drifters.

What I don't get about the "modern anime is just lolis and high school" crowd is that there's at least one anime per season like Space Dandy, Drifters, Onihei, Lupin the 3rd, Gundam Thunderbolt without those elements. The High School complaint tends to be stupid, Mob Psycho 100 is a "high school anime" but Mob is barely shown in school. Are they utterly oblivious or just pretend the shows for them don't exist to shit on shows not intended for them to feel superior and say the medium is shit?

It’s almost like they’re not actually engaging with anime as a serious art form but want to score Woke Nerd points by going after low hanging harem anime/actual ecchi/hentai/fanservice trash that almost nobody in the western anime fanbase actually likes all that much anyway

I pixeled this for the official Hyperlight Drifter/ Starr Mazer crossover announcement.

Cameos left to right:

Sequel Police: Space Quest IV
Ahsoka Tano - Starr Wars
Brick M Stonewood - Starr Mazer
Worf, son of Mogh - Starr Trek
Timepod - Space Quest IV
The Drifter - Hyperlight Drifterr

There may be more “r"s in some of these.

You can still back the epic StarrMazer kickstarter here.
