South Korean officials: 9 confirmed dead, 287 missing in ferry sinking

APThe coast guard said it found two more bodies off the southern coast of South Korea, bringing the confirmed death toll to nine after a ferry flipped on its side on Wednesday.

Many expect the number to rise as rescuers search for 287 passengers still missing. Strong currents and bad visibility have hampered rescuers Thursday.

The ferry had more than 450 people on board, mostly high school students, when it sank.
