Summary: Soulmates’ worlds go from black and white to colors when they are in the same room for the first time. Bucky is a famous actor in the middle of a convention, trying to find his soulmate, you.
Word Count: 2,232
A/N: This is a re-write of a Dean W. fic and I hope you all like it :D
Bucky took a swig of water,
tightening the cap on the bottle before setting it to the side. His
meet-and-greet was about to start. He could hear the bustling of the crowd
right outside the door and took a deep breath. Alongside him was Clint, a
“You doing okay, buddy?” asked
Clint, eyes concerned as he placed a hand on Bucky’s shoulder.
Bucky smiled. “Yeah, I’m alright.”
After a few minutes, Nat Romanoff
and Sam Wilson took their seats next to each other and the writer of the show,
Bucky’s oldest friend, Steve Rogers, emerged from behind the black curtain that
had been put up behind the actors.
“I don’t know what you’re on about, Reginald. I found my soulmate a long time ago.”
“Oh, really?” He smirked at the girl “Who is it? Don’t try to say that it’s Keller because we all know he’s Moose’s soulmate.”
“I don’t need to prove anything to you, Reggie. If you don’t mind, I’ve got a lesson to get to.” (Y/N) forced a smile before walking off.
Almost as if it was instinct he followed her, quick on her heels. “Don’t bullshit me, (L/N). Prove to me that I’m not your soulmate.”
“Reggie, I really don’t want to disappoint you, I’m so sorry that I’m not her.”
“Then prove it to me. Write something, pinch yourself. Whatever, just prove it to me because God knows how long I’ve been looking for my soulmate.”
(Y/N) frowned, looking up at Reggie. He looked down at her, seeing the remorse in her eyes. “I’m so sorry, Reginald, but you’ll find her soon.”
Reggie watched as (Y/N) walked off, feeling more determined to figure out who his soulmate was. He wasn’t going to give up that easy.
There were three moments of weakness that led to (Y/N) almost revealing herself to Reggie. The first was when he wrote to her on his birthday, claiming that his parents had argued and that his birthday wasn’t the same as when he was younger.
‘i know u dont reply but its my birthday :D’
‘my mom and dad argued in front of all my friends, soulmate. it was so embarrassing! i want it to be like my eighth birthday :(’
Looking down at her arm and the pen that she held in it, she fought her urge to reply to his message written on the back of her left forearm. She could feel the sadness that ran through his body. She could feel the pain in his chest as he wrote the words on his arm.
“Mom, he’s hurt” she frowned “He’s not allowed to be sad. It’s his birthday. Mom, it really hurts. I can’t breathe.”
“(Y/N), sweetheart, you’re worried for him. It’s what comes with soulmates.” Her mother paused for a while “You and your soulmate are not only soul-bound but you’re also physically bound to each other. You have a rare bond and never, ever take it for granted because it’ll, one day, be useful to you.”
The second time it happened was during freshman year, when Reggie had sprained his wrist so bad during training that the pain of it had woken (Y/N) up from her nap. She held her wrist as if it was on the brink of snapping off, fighting the tears back. Reggie had written multiple apologies, her arm was practically covered in his messy writing.
‘oh my god! im so sorry, soulmate.’
‘im so so SO sorry!’
’:( i hope i didnt hurt u too much :(’
She felt the pain that rushed up his arm with every apology he wrote. She picked up a pen that lay on top of the books that sat next to her on her bed, clicking it before dropping it and walking towards the bathroom to erase the proof of her soulmate.
The following day, she approached him, with all intentions of wishing him a speedy recovery, in the hallway as he stood leaning against his locker. She noticed and felt that his arm had been wrapped up tightly in a bandage or maybe it was just the pressure of the bandage on her own arm “Twinning?” he raised his eyebrow at her, as he noticed “What did you do?”
“Oh, I-I, kinda, fell down the stairs?”
Reggie let out a small laugh “Is that a question or is that what actually happened?”
“God, I cannot stand you, Reginald. Hope your arm gets better soon. Don’t want number fourteen off the team for too long.”
“Was that a compliment? You know what, I’ll take that as a compliment.” He smirked as she let out a scoff
The final time was on her birthday. No one had remembered it and she was sat in her room wallowing in self pity. There was no writing on her skin, nothing. Not even Reggie could feel the emotion running through her veins. She picked up a pen and pressed it against her skin, ready to write:
‘hi, can we talk???’
but instead she dropped it and crawled into her bed, pushing the space bar on her laptop so it would play her scratched DVD of ‘A Walk to Remember’.
(Y/N) frowned as she sat on the bleachers watching the bulldogs train for their upcoming game. Her eyes were locked on Reggie’s form, watching him as he caught the ball from afar. “God, (Y/N), you’re so two-faced. I love it.” Veronica exclaimed.
“One minute, you’re all ‘Reginald, don’t be so egotistical, I hate you.’ the next you’re drooling over him and can’t even take your eyes off him.” Betty added.
“Oh my God! I’m friends with a group of idiots!” (Y/N) exclaimed. “He’s my soulmate, I’m allowed to drool over him.”
“Who’s your soulmate?” Reggie asked, including himself in the conversation. “I’m pretty sure that’s me. Talk to you tonight, (L/N).” He winked as he made his way back towards the field.
“Don’t count on it, Reginald!” she shouted back, a grin spread across her face.
“God, just fuck already.” Kevin shouted after him.
The tickling sensation grew on her left forearm, meaning only one thing. Reggie was at it again.
‘so, ready to admit that ur my soulmate?’
She rolled her eyes, ignoring the ink on her arm and continued to solve the algebraic question in front of her.
'ur not writing back b'cos u know im right ;)’
Ignoring him once again, she picked up her makeup remover and rubbed the ink off.
Reggie groaned after seeing the ink disappear from his arm. “What if (Y/N) is telling the truth? She’s probably not my soulmate. I mean my soulmate hasn’t written back.”
Moose and Chuck looked at each other before smacking Reggie around the back of his head. “Don’t be such a dick, Mantle. D'ya know how unlikely it would be for your soulmate and (Y/N) to hit their hips at the same time, unless your soulmate is, maybe, I don’t know, (Y/N)?”
The trio sat in silence, for awhile as Reggie took in the words of his friends, until Chuck broke the silence with the words “Dude, she literally calls you Reginald.”
“And?” Reggie said, confusion laced in his voice.
“You’d punch me if I even attempted to call you Reginald.” Chuck frowned.
“I’d punch you because you’re a dick.”
The following day, (Y/N) tried her hardest to avoid Reggie, but with their clashing schedules it was practically impossible. She sighed as she once again caught him looking in her direction, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “Need something, Reginald?”
He shook his head and turned back to face the front, before turning back to face her again “Actually, yes, I do need something from you, (L/N). I need you to prove to me that you’re not my soulmate.”
Just before she could reply the bell had rang, signalling that it was the end of the school day. “I’ll see you later, (Y/N).” Reggie shouted after her.
She sat at her desk, tapping her pen against it, as she, yet again, procrastinated her biology questions. Her phone vibrated, signalling an incoming call from Kevin. As soon as she answered, she was met with her best friend screaming down the phone. “I’m on my way over to pick you up! We’re going to Moose’s party.”
He picked up a grape before throwing it in the air and attempting to catch it in his mouth, failing as his eyes locked with Archie, who was stood next to (Y/N), his arm around her shoulder. Reggie pushed himself from the couch and strode his way over to (Y/N) and her red-haired friend.
“Hey, Andrews. Mind if I borrow (Y/N) for a second?”
“Sure, dude. Just don’t do anything stupid!”
Reggie took (Y/N)’s hand in his, pulling his hand away from hers when he felt a spark at the skin to skin contact. He looked at (Y/N), instantly apologising. Her mind flickering over to the time he sprained his wrist and covered her arm in ink-stained apologies.
“What do you want, Reginald?” she said, sending a genuine smile at him for the first time in weeks. Reggie positioned himself in front of her so he could face her. He noted down everything about (Y/N). The way her eyes shone almost as if they were a spotlight and the way she would crinkle her nose every time she let out a laugh.
She looked into his eyes and nodded. She didn’t need to know what he wanted to ask, she already knew.
“I want,” He paused, inching closer to her “you to,” He was so close to her, she could feel his breath on her cheek “prove it.” By now, there was no distance between them, everything around them seemed to disappear. The smell of alcohol and cologne on him intoxicated her, if she were to pull away now, she would’ve craved the scent. If she pulled away now, she would’ve craved him. Using his right arm he tilted her head up, their lips meeting. She was taken by surprise at the softness and warmth of his lips, she had expected it to be horrendous, something that she would forget in later life; how could she when everything he did was near-perfection? As they pulled away, they stood, their foreheads leaning against each other, eyes still closed.
(Y/N) smiled at the boy in front of her. She looked over at the coffee table, picking up the pen that lay underneath the pile of red solo cups, writing on her arm:
Seriously, guys, the more I think about the dynamics and such that are playing out in the last episodes of this season, the more I’m just LOVING what the show is doing for next season.
1. We have Lady Knight Echo who lost her King, but finds a new one in Bellamy. We’ll likely get the whole knight/king (aka queen) trope between them, and I could see her being fiercely loyal and protective of him, and I’m honestly going to love seeing Bellamy having a loyal fighter who is completely devoted to him, ya’know?
2. We have two soulmates seperated by space and an apocalypse, and they’ll spend most of season 5 finding their way physically and emotionally back to each other.
3. We have Bellamy Blake who is full out the central leader of his group, and it’ll be amazing to see the kind of man he’ll be now that he’s stepping in the role of being the head. He’ll be more mature and likely a bit more big picture thinking, and I can’t help think that he’s not quite going to be as emotional and impulsive like he use to be. Bellamy is also going to be the leader that ALL of Clarke’s friends look to now, and I bet they’re going to have their own routines down and Clarke will find that she doesn’t really fit anymore (though, she’ll fit again, it’ll just take awhile).
4. We have Braven being the new co-leader couple (not romantic, bc yeah, that ain’t happening), so that when Clarke comes back, you can already see that Braven will struggle with letting Clarke back in and Clarke will struggle with that fact that Raven and Bellamy are now use to being the co-leader couple without her.
5. Clarke is now a mom, and it’ll turn her more into a heart, like Bellamy was, and now she and Bellamy will understand each other EVEN MORE (and I didn’t think that was possible).
6. You just know that either Marper or Memori is having trouble in paradise and likely not together after 6 years, so we’ll find out what happened there and why.
7. We’re likely going to see some pairings that we didn’t expect (for example, maybe Murphy x Raven or Octavia x Niylah or Bellamy x Echo, etc).
8. BELLARKE REUNION (like… omg that’s going to be EPIC)
9. Octavia is totally going to be a completely different person, and Bellamy and her are going to clash on leadership ideas and decisions.
10. These prisoner miners from space might allow us to have at least one good, old antagonist like in Mt. Weather and the story NEEDS that.
11. We get to expand (truely expand) the world of The 100 and learn about a new culture, and realize that we have new cultures all around next season w/ Octavia’s group being the Mt. Men (basically), Clarke the grounder, Bellamy the Sky person, and Unknown Belters.
12. We get to see how much Murphy and Emori change now that they’re part of a group and no longer outsiders.
13. We get to see Jaha likely be a father to that boy in the finale, and him having a son again… and maybe doing right by this son like he didn’t with Wells.
14. We get to see Abby’s brain falling apart slowly, while she likely has more premonitions (and is prophetic) and so we get some cool “magic”-like elements in the story next year.
15. We learn more about the Red Dawn, Becca, and the Penal Colony and their connection with each other.
16. We get to see how ALL of these new cultures will either destroy each other or work together to survive on that tiny bit of earth that’s still inhabitable.
There’s just so much, and I’m soo excited for all these new possibilities.

Jeremy couldn’t help it now; he loved everything about seeing color. Even video games were better in color and half the games Michael owned were so poorly colored it didn’t matter. Jeremy found so much endearment in things now…perhaps even more so feeling like Christine had given him this new life. Not to mention saving his life. Of course there was no way to talk about it. Three days into his Junior year and Jeremy had no idea how to even bring up the topic. Michael didn’t seem to bring it up either. He smiled and babbled like nothing changed, talking about his exciting escapades visiting the Philippines all summer.. “And then they had these candies that were like sweet but sour, but like salty…it was a trip, you would have loved them” Michael beamed as he came to a red light. His eyes flickered to Jeremy; he was staring at him.
Secrets ran both ways. While Jeremy was hiding the fact he did in fact want to pursue soul mates and ruin their twelve year promise, Michael had completely ignored the detail that he, too, could see color. He wasn’t sure what he was supposed to even say to him. ‘Hey you’re my soul mate, ol’ pal.’ That would ruin everything!
After that day, it was extremely
difficult to walk out of your apartment without reporters flashing lights in
your face or taking pictures of you. It was the same questions, like how does it feel to have three soulmates? And
did you ever think this would happen to
you? Three eligible bachelors fanning for your affection? But it was not
what you imagined. It’s not what anyone imagined
meeting their soulmate (correction: *soulmates) would be like.
This was just the beginning of your
odd relationship with them. Burr would drop you off at work in the morning,
Madison would take you to a local coffee shop on break, and Jefferson would
take you home. Once he asked if you would
go to his house instead, with a wink.
It was hard. It was extremely hard
to deal with. Your heart was torn in literally three pieces, fighting to share
your love with all three of them. You were stressed, and you cursed to the
universe every night. There were being even more unfair, they were making you
exhausted every day.
Eliza said that you were complaining
too much, and that you should appreciate what the world has given you. You
retorted back, asking if she could handle having three soulmates. She blushed,
wiggling her eyebrows at you.
You decided to not bring it up to
After a few weeks of this, you
decided to have a meeting with all three of them at your home. There were few
reporters still there, and Thomas made the last few go away, with threatening
to call his “resources” to make them get fired. They quickly dispersed after
that, never showing their faces to you again. You shook your head at Thomas’s
threat, but he insisted that it was for your privacy, and that he would do
everything in his power to keep the media out of your lives.
You ordered takeout that night, the
boys wanting to buy it for you instead. You scowled them for the hundredth time
that day, telling them that you had enough money to spare. You appreciated
their kindness, but sometimes, you wanted to treat them instead.
You heard a knock on the door, and
opened it, your three soulmates standing there in front of you. You couldn’t
ignore the throbbing in your chest when you saw them, the universe reminding
you that you loved them more than anything. Jefferson wore a dark purple shirt
tonight, his hair neatly combed (if you could do that to the curls on his
head). He walked in, kissing your forehead softly. Madison strolled by next,
wearing a dark blue shirt. The smile on his face made you grin back at him, he
kissed your cheek. Burr was the last, wearing a black shirt. He pulled you into
a hug instead, holding you as tight as possible.
They all gathered in the kitchen,
sitting at the small table. You lived alone, so a small table with four chairs
seemed enough for you, at the time. Now that these massive men were in your
home, you made a mental note to buy a bigger table. The three of them were
cramped in the apartment, constantly bumping into each other. Maybe a bigger
“How are you, my love?” Jefferson
asked, gathering the plates.
“I’m fine, Thomas.” You replied, pulling
out the rice containers. James placed his hand on the small of your back,
telling you to sit down.
“We’ve got this, Y/N. You bought the
food, so we’ll serve you.” Burr grabbed sodas out of the fridge, and James
helped, putting ice in the cups.
extremely thankful for them. As you four sat down, Madison next to you and Burr
and Jefferson across from you. You wanted to enjoy your moment with the boys,
but you couldn’t help but bring up the point that you needed to make. They were
chatting with each other, ignoring your pleas and gestures. After a minute of
this, you rose you voice, causing them all to look at you.
“Listen, guys, listen. I,
don’t you think our situation is weird? We’re all soulmates, isn’t that strange
to you at all?” Madison was the first one to shake his head.
“Not at all. Before we met
you, Thomas and I grew up knowing that there was someone out there who had the
same tattoo as us. Once ours didn’t glow or hurt when we saw it, we knew there
was a missing link.” Madison glanced over at Burr. “Two missing links.”
“James is right, this seems
okay to me. Why, do you not like us?” Burr asked, pausing in his eating. You
sighed, putting your head in your hands. You were constantly bombarded with
mixed emotions from the three of them all the time. There was research done
that suggests soulmates felt the pain and other emotions of their loved one,
and vice versa. Since you had three, you felt all of what they felt.
Right now, you felt
nervousness emulating from all of them. It was cumbersome to deal with all
their emotions at the same time. Your head was throbbing, and you tried to deal
with it. “No, Aaron, that’s not what I’m trying to say. I just, I don’t know if
I can do this.” You whispered.
You felt a burning sensation
on your arm, and looked at it quickly. The dragon tattoo on your arm was
burning bright red, fading the tail of the dragon. You widened your eyes at your
arm, looking at your soulmates. They were all looking at theirs as well,
watching it fade.
“You’re rejecting us, Y/N?”
Thomas whispered, a small bit of sorrow in his eyes.
“No, I’m not, I-“
“We’ve researched this for our
whole lives, Y/N, don’t you remember? We know what happens to soulmates when
one of them rejects the other. Your tattoo begins to fade. As you grow away
from them, it continues to dissipate, until there is nothing left. We know what
we’re talking about.” Thomas hissed, growing angry. You shook your head,
looking at the dragon.
“I don’t know how I feel about
all of you, about this.” You whispered. “I care about all of you, but it’s like
I’m not myself anymore. It’s like, everything you guys think, everything you
do, consumes me. I can’t think around you all.”
Burr grabbed your fingers, his
eyes pleading with you. “We can figure this out, we are scientists. We can make
it easier for you to handle. Just, just don’t give up on us, please.” Burr said
desperately. You hated hearing his voice shake, but you needed some space, and space.
To deal with this.
You nodded, hearing Burr sigh
in relief. He was the most sensitive out of the four of you. Since you two have
met, he needed constant reassurance that you were not going to leave him. You
always wondered why, but never found the time to ask him about it.
“I won’t give up on you three,
I need some time. I need some time to stop these headaches that I’m getting.
It’s hard enough to deal with my own emotions, let alone three other people.”
They nodded. You sensed relief from the rest of them, and it calmed your
headache. Dealing with positive emotions were much easier than negative ones.
“Can we eat in piece, now?”
Thomas mumbled, grabbing an egg roll from the pile. You smiled at him, picking
the sweet and sour chicken out of the middle. “Y/N, I told you to get soy
sauce.” He grumbled, staring at the sauces on the table.
“I asked the lady for it, did
she not put any in the bag?” Thomas pouted, and you told him to check in the
closet for sauce. Fortunately, you saved packages from previous takeout. He
grinned happily, sitting back down next to Burr. “Guys, I have a question.”
They all looked up at you. “Do you, do you feel the same way about each other
like I feel about you. You know, romantic feelings?” Burr laughed, glancing at
the two men next to him.
“Why do you ask?” Madison
“Because, it seems weird that
we’re soulmates and I only love you, but you don’t love each other.”
“Good question.” Thomas
replied, lending you no more information. You rolled your eyes at his lack of a
“Come on.” You grumbled.
“We do, love each other.”
Madison answered for them, twirling noodles in his fork. “Before we met you, it
was more like a brotherly love. We knew we were soulmates, too, so that was
kind of a given.”
Thomas interrupted Madison.
“We didn’t know how many people were going to be soulmates with us, especially
after we found Burr. Honestly, I thought it was going to be more than ten
people, which sounds ridiculous.” He mumbled, playing with his mac and cheese. You
made it for him yourself, since he was always unhappy when dinner didn’t
include the “delicacy” (he called mac and cheese that constantly).
“I’m happy that it’s only
four, Y/N. Three’s a crowd, four’s a party.” Burr winked, causing you to blush.
“But yes, we do love each
other. Once our tattoos glowed, there was a click, at least for me, when I
looked at the other two. It was like I was seeing them for the first time.”
James replied, smiling at the other two. “I’m happy for us, I really am.”
“And we’ll have great sex.”
Thomas murmured, making your face reddened even more than before. You were
reminded of Eliza’s look when she mentioned the four of you.
“You’re embarrassing Y/N.”
Burr chuckled. Thomas looked up from his food, smirking at you. He wiggled his
eyebrows, nudging Burr. Burr grinned, putting his hand on Thomas’s thigh.
“Can we stop talking about the
deed? I just want to watch a movie
later.” You mumbled. Who knows what emotions you would feel when that happened.
“And after…?” Madison
questioned, giving you an evil grin. You gasped, surprised at how blunt Madison
was. He was usually the one to mediate and calm everyone down, but it seems
like tonight, he was encouraging the other two. You snickered.
“Let’s just focus on the movie
“We’re definitely gonna f*ck
tonight.” Thomas mumbled, and you threw a piece of bread at him. He raised his
eyebrows, holding a piece of pork in his hand. You warned him with your eyes,
and he grinned, tossing the piece of food at you. The sauce on it hit your
face, leaving a trail of grease. You glared at him, picking up the rice
container in front of you.
Thomas held his hands up in
defense, looking at you. “Come on, Y/N, you started it! Just, not the rice,
please. It would take me forever to get it out of my hair.” He complained, and
you tossed it anyway, the pellets going on all three of you boyfriends. James
sighed, picking the rice off his food. Aaron laughed, grabbing the noodle
container. He looked at James, then placed it quickly on his hair, giggling evilly.
James frowned, the noodles
cascading down his face. “That’s it, I’m going to stop this right now.” James
grabbed the soda bottle from the middle of the table, and poured it on Aaron,
and you heard a gasp come out of his mouth.
You three began this insane
food fight, tossing anything that was close by. After a few minutes, all the
food was on the floor, stains were everywhere; from the ceiling fan to inside
your closet. When you were looking at the aftermath, they boys stared at you
sheepishly. You broke out into a grin, and laughed.
“You guys are so going to help
me fix this up.” James grabbed your waist and ran, carrying you in his arms.
You laughed, hitting him on his back softly. “James, we need to clean this up!
I don’t want it to stain!”
“We’ll clean it later, but now…”
Thomas said, grinning. Aaron was hanging on Thomas’s back, all of them leading
you to the bedroom. The happiness radiating from all of them made your heart
swell with glee.
And that’s when you knew. You
knew that you could handle being with the three of them. At this moment, you
could not imagine your life without them in it.

“This is absolutely okay.” You say out loud, hands coming together for a short clap. “I am totally fine,” slips from your shaded lips as you try and fail to reassure yourself.
Your hands curl around the edge of the white sink you’re standing in front of. Your eyes resting on your reflection after drenching your face with two handfuls of water. You keep repeating supports to yourself to try to keep your emotions under control, but the club-goer’s who keep giving you odd looks as they witness you speaking to yourself, do little to comfort the twist currently settling in your stomach.
