Give a Girl a Book

Day 6 of my 30 day Oneshot Challenge! You can find the rest here. And I hope you like this random fluffy thing!

Prompt: You’re overdue on this book and I want it so I’m tracking u the fuck down

Give a Girl a Book

“Alright, Andor, where is it?”

Cassian glances up from his report with a frown. He squints against the sunlight as he takes in Jyn Erso’s angry face. It’s not the first time he’s witnessed the passion in her eyes or the hard set of her face when she knows what she wants and has decided that she’s going to get it, no matter the cost. Honestly, it’s a bit of a turn on. Not that he’ll tell her that when she’s angry, but her passion is exquisite.

“Where’s the book?” She demands, dropping into the seat beside him.

He casts around for an inkling as to what she’s talking about, but the answer eludes him. “What are you talking about?”

The History of Intelligence? The book you checked out of the library three weeks ago, the same book you know I wanted to read.”

Right. Now he remembers. It’s under his bed right now, an old receipt stuck between the thin pages about three quarters of the way back. He got distracted a couple days ago by another one of Bodhi’s ‘secret missions’ and hadn’t picked it up since then. At the time, the joy ride in the helicopter had been worth it. Now, staring into fierce brown eyes, he’s a bit on the fence. On one hand, if he had finished it Jyn wouldn’t be angry. On the other hand, he now gets to spend more time around her.

“I haven’t finished it yet.” She’s not going to leave it at that, but Cassian returns to his report all the same. It’s kind of fun to rile her up.

“Doesn’t matter,” she crows, leaning on his desk and covering his report. “Wanna know why?”

Cassian taps his pen on the paper, which he can’t write on because she’s covering the next section. He sighs and looks up at her expectantly.

“It’s been more than two weeks, which means it’s overdue.”

He sighs, wondering what her game is here. “So what? I can renew it.”

“But you can’t!” She grins at him. “Because someone else has it on hold.”

“Me!” She sits back with a huge grin, clearly pleased with herself.

“But you can’t get it until I actually return the book,” Cassian points out with his own smile. If he keeps the book, then she’ll come bug him every day. It’s childish, but it allows him to spend time with her, to witness her playful side. And no doubt, she’ll attempt to return the book for him, which would be interesting. Really, it just amounts to spending more time in her presence, which is always a win for him, and maybe – just maybe – it would convince her to say yes when he finally asks her out.

“Oh, you’ll return the book.” Jyn stands, confident in every moment.

Cassian frowns. She’s still light and teasing. There’s something up her sleeve, and it’s not the cards she uses to cheat. “And why would I do that when I still haven’t finished it?”

Jyn leans over the desk again, her facing pausing inches from his own. “Because Kay says you like me.”

He freezes, unable to look away from the mirth that twinkles in her brown eyes. It looks good on her, like it’s meant to be there. He should probably be embarrassed by the fact that Kay spilled his secret to his crush, but all he really wants is to find out what Jyn’s smirk tastes like.

She draws him in, like gravity. Her breath catches in her throat, as her eyes drop to his lips. And just like that he’s got the upper hand once more.

“And what are you gonna do with that information?”

Jyn’s eyes search his face. It’s a game of chicken now. Who will make the first move? Who will the sexual tension get to first? He can’t be the only one who feels it, the only one effected by their proximity. Her dilated pupils speak to the veracity of that.

Cassian likes the thrill, so he feels a wave of regret as Jyn pulls back and her breath no longer fans his face. She backs from the room, biting her bottom lip as she watches him. He would give her just about whatever she wants right now. He’d walk all the way back to the room to grab the book and hand it over.

“If you return the book, I just might say yes when you finally ask me out.” With one last flirtatious smile, she disappears out the door.

Jyn finds the book on her bed when she gets back to her room, her library card slipped between the pages. But what really brings a smile to her face is the pink sticky note on the cover that reads:

Coffee. Tomorrow. 10am.

She shakes her head. It’s about time he asked. Of course, he would do it in the most Cassian way possible.

It’s a good thing she likes him too.

anonymous asked:

What would the old Young Inhumans characters think of Kamala and the other Nuhumans? (And whatever happened to them anyway?)

Oh jeez, I remember that book! Sort of. I remember that it was a thing that existed. I read it way back in high school and decided that the Inhumans weren’t really for me.

I don’t think they’d really know how to interact with the Nuhumans. I remember them having a mixed reaction to having to deal with humanity in general, ranging from excitement to disgust. I feel like they wouldn’t really know how to interact with the Nuhumans. It’d probably be really, really awkward.

“WE COME FORM DIFFERENT HOUSES” Gryffindor/Slytherin/Hufflepuff/Ravenclaw

After I posted the pic of slytherin girl (here’s the link if you don’t know), I decided to draw other 3 houses’ students to make it complete. :D

“Am I at ninety-four yet?”

Neil asked.

He was not at ninety-four. Ninety-four was the whispered words, “Thank you. You were amazing.” They echoed inside Andrew’s head over and over, like they were an offering, a prayer, a goodbye, like they were pushed out of his body with his dying breath. It was irritating and he was going to bring it up on the bus. He was going to spell it out nice and slow how Neil needed to stop living like he was dying and start living like the exy junkie he was.

Ninety-five was turning around and seeing nothing. Not nothing in the sense that Neil was nothing, but nothing in the sense of panic, of worry, of standing on the edge of the rooftop looking down thinking “Would it hurt if I fell?” The space where Neil should have been filled with emotions that Andrew swore he would never feel again.

Ninety-six was finding his bag. It wasn’t the bag that held his entire life, that was locked away in the Fox Tower, safe. It was the bag that held his future. A future he knew Neil wanted in the way he clutched the key he gave him back in August. A key that was left in the God forsaken bag with Neil nowhere in sight.

For ninety-seven, Kevin was there. The other foxes were there too but the words Kevin formed with his breath passing over his voice box and the movements of his tongue and jaw, were the only things that mattered. Kevin’s mouth moved, sound traveled in vibrations through the air, hit Andrew’s eardrums, and then his hands were around Kevin’s neck. There were lies and half-truths and Andrew hated those. Again not in the sense he hated Neil but in the sense that he hated the word ‘please’ and ‘misunderstanding’. He hated how he didn’t hate Neil because of all the lies. And for that, ninety-seven.

Ninety-eight was the phone call that Neil had been found.

Ninety-nine was walking through the hotel door and seeing him crumple in agony. It was the hissed “Don’t” as he did his best sooth away the pain. It was the eyes that were Nathaniel’s with hints of Neil peeking out behind his irises. It was the look of a man staring helplessly as the executioner readied the guillotine. It was the words “I’m sorry” like he had something to be sorry for. It was his attitude that no matter how beat up he got, remained impeccably intact. And it was the question he still had the gall to ask: “Am I at ninety-four yet?”

“You are at one hundred.”

he was a king.

this was the year he was going to die.

may or may not have spent my entire sunday finding obscure indie movies to steal clips from to make this video. idk, you can’t prove anything.
Forget Self-Esteem—Try Self-Compassion Instead
Trying to boost your own ego is largely pointless. Here's what works better.
By Olga Khazan

Khazan: So what is self-compassion? How is it better?
Neff: It means treating yourself with the same kind of kindness, care, compassion, as you would treat those you care about—your good friends, your loved ones. One component is self-kindness, which is in a way the most obvious. But it also entails a recognition of common humanity—in other words, the understanding that all people are imperfect, and all people have imperfect lives. Sometimes, when we fail, we react as if something has gone wrong—that this shouldn’t be happening. “I shouldn’t have failed, I shouldn’t have had this issue come up in my life.” And this sense that “this shouldn’t be happening,” as if everyone else in the world were living perfectly happy, unproblematic lives. That type of thinking really causes a lot of additional suffering, because people feel isolated and separated from the rest of humanity.

So, when we have self-compassion, when we fail, it’s not “poor me,” it’s “well, everyone fails.” Everyone struggles. This is what it means to be human. And that really radically alters how we relate to failure and difficulty. When we say, “Oh, this is normal, this is part of what it means to human,” that opens the door to the grow from the experience. If we feel like it’s abnormal, this shouldn’t be happening, then we start blaming ourselves.”

Each house when: the house is on fire, the first thing you grab
  • Gryffindor: favourite luck sweater – moving forward
  • Hufflepuff: precious photo album – protect your favourites
  • Ravenclaw: sketch book – creativity first
  • Slytherin: childhood stuffed animal – preserve your roots

It’s amazing how the mental picture of a place in a book I last read ten years ago rushes back, unchanged, after so long… Sort of like remembering all the words to a song you’d completely forgotten about when it suddenly comes on the radio

Iron Breakers: Stag’s Run, my LGBT+ fantasy/adventure debut novel is out now! You can buy it now on Amazon or wait until December where the book will become permanently free on their site!

About the book:
Ren Frayne is the bastard son of the Queen of Frayne, a title he’s more than comfortable with when it brings him limited responsibilities, and all the luxuries of life he could ever want. But when the king and Ren’s half-brother, Crown Prince Hellic are brutally murdered, Ren is accused. Now, he is forced to flee the city together with the mysterious prisoner Anik who may know how to survive in the wild, but who seems to have an agenda of his own. One that may spell danger for Ren.
Ren’s accuser now sits on his family’s throne, and things are about to get much, much worse. It may be time to seek help in unexpected places.

acotar sorting hat
  • Feyre: Gryffindor, is made Prefect and eventually Head Girl, says yes to a date w/Rhysand in her 6th year and never looks back
  • Nesta: Slytherin, is also a prefect, scolds first years for 'looking too cheerful.' Looks forward to a certain Hufflepuff male complimenting her, but won't admit it.
  • Elain: Hufflepuff, her favorite class is Herbology, and Prof. Sprout LOVES her. Has her eye on that shy redhead from Ravenclaw.
  • Rhysand: Gryffindor (this was hard, but I feel like his gryf. characteristics outway his slyth. ones), constantly pesters Feyre for a date, they become the new power couple when he is made Head Boy
  • Cassian: Hufflepuff (DON'T KILL ME, HE'S SO LOYAL, OKAY?), is a beater on the Qudditch team, and his snarky nature leads many a professor to question the sorting hat's choices. Won't leave Nesta alone, but she secretly likes it
  • Azriel: Slytherin, has more friends outside of his house than in it, and is a shining example of all of the good traits Slytherin celebrates. His two older brothers hate him for dating a Gryffindor
  • Amren: SLYTHERIN. Scares the shit out of first years for fun. Sometimes the professors, too.
  • Mor: Gryffindor, chaser on the qudditch team, essentially channeling the essence of Luna Lovegood. Nothing can bring her down. Dating Azriel, who quietly cheers her on at qudditch matches
  • Tamlin: Slytherin, is a prefect but always upped by Rhysand, trails after him muttering "my father will hear about this"
  • Lucien: Ravenclaw, in love with a certain Hufflepuff but too shy to tell her, has been bffs w/Feyre since first year, who can't for the life of her understand why he's friends w/Tamlin too

Hi there!!!

So an anon requested a masterpost about a new semester, so I kinda made this… :D also, this is a collab with Chinmay from @studyruels, be sure to check his masterpost about maintaining a routine during the semester here!

To start your semester or school year well, you need to make sure everything is neat and organized.

  1. Clean your room. Clean your desk, bookshelves, wardrobe, wipe the surfaces. Either donate or throw away things that you don’t need. Sort out your books, textbooks, papers, pens… throw away pens that don’t write anymore, put your papers and notes in folders, binders…
  2. Organize your PC files! This is so important and everyone (and I’m no exception ahaha rIP) neglect this. If you work with your computer a lot (and I’m pretty sure most of you do), organize your files into appropriate folders so you can quickly find them. Believe me, it’s awful searching for a document you made a while ago and you forgot where you had saved it. Pro-tip - try to have less things on your desktop, as it slows down your computer ^^
  3. Buy a planner/ set up a bullet journal. Or you can try both of the systems :D I recommend this one because it really comes in handy to see everything you have to do written in front of you. Carry it with you and write down every event, exam date or due date, write your homework, plan out your days and study sessions… plus you can make it pretty too~~ :D you can find out more about setting up a bullet journal here.
  4. Buy your supplies as soon as possible. This one goes with the “clean your room” section - if you have your supplies beforehand, you can organize your room better, find the right place to keep them and so on. Moreover, you don’t have to rush after the semester starts with finding the texbooks, finding a place in your shelves, tidying up you room….

  1. Try to study everyday. Or like almost everyday (it’s good to have some break days in between so you relax). It’s important to revise your material after class, so you don’t have to stress before the exams too much.
  2. Take your own notes. Whether typed or handwritten, find out whatever works best for you, just take some notes please. I guarantee that you will regret it if you don’t.
  3. Read your textbooks and supplementary material the teacher gives you. You don’t have to read those before the class or so, but don’t procrastinate, don’t.. how do you say it.. neglect them, these are really important, too. (and it really comes in handy to take notes from these materials)
  4. Don’t hesitate to ask for help when you need it. Especially when you don’t understand what’s going on in the class. The teachers are there to HELP you to TEACH you, so take advantage of that and ask them when you don’t know ;)

More about studying and study methods here ^^

  1. Sleep. sleep sleep sleep don’t be like my classmates who just don’t sleep and make me worry about them just sleep at least six hours. Eight hours is ideal, but at least six pleas (of course, this varies from person to another, so just find what works for you). You don’t have to go to bet extremely early or wake up extremely early, just get some rest.
  2. Drink water. Stay hydrated!!!!
  3. Eat. Do not skip meals. Eat your breakfast. Try to make your own healthy lunch. Eat fruit! Eat cakes and chocolate and ice cream and rice and vegetable soups~ I mean like don’t diet too much, don’t overdo it ^^
  4. Remember that not everything is about studying. Relax, read, surf the internet, spend time with your family and friends.

Best of luck during your new semester/school year/term!!!

Thank you all so much for your lovely and supportive messages, I am trying to respond to everyone who messages so please bear with me.
I genuinely didn’t think this would get many followers barring friends and family, it was my way of letting Tom have a memory book of sorts. I am overwhelmed by the love shown and it means such a lot.
I will of course keep it updated with bits and bobs and let people know what he’s up to.

Thanks once again x
