Hi, I'm really sorry if this is something that you've mentioned or answered before, and I just haven't noticed. My attention span is really, really terrible, haha. I was wondering what umfb!Yuuri's major was? And if he minored in anything? If so, what? Thanks for everything! Also, love your work so much!

I have no idea about the American college system so I don’t really know about majors and minors but I always HC that Yuuri’s degree was in sports science

My mom is currently watching an anti-vaccine documentary that's talking about how vaccines cause autism and ADHD and stuff and it's making me shut down because she told me that "autism never existed when I was a kid" and that "kids are getting autism-esque symptoms overnight" and just stuff like that is distressing me so much and I feel terrible and now I feel like I'm somehow faking being autistic and everything is just bad and I don't know what to do right now. (I'm self-dxxed)

I’m so sorry you were subjected to that. That is some awful ableism to have to deal with.

First, you are not faking. Faking takes conscious effort. If you are questioning whether or not you are faking, then you’re not. As long as you’ve thoroughly explored autism and have concluded that you are autistic, then you are autistic.

Next, what your mom said is a lie. Autism has always existed, we just didn’t always have a name for it. There is actually suspicion that the changling myth was actually a way to explain autistic children as many autistic children suddenly regress and may seem like a different child. Autism isn’t becoming more prevalent, we’re just getting better at recognizing it so there are now higher rates of autism. Further, your mom probably knew plenty of autistic kids when she was younger, she just didn’t know it.

As for how to cope with this, I would advise against trying to argue with your mom on this. Someone who is espousing views like that is unlikely to listen to what their child has to say. Rather than starting an argument that will most likely hurt you, I would suggest engaging in self care. Take a long bath. Stim. Engage with your special interest. Do whatever you can to make yourself feel better.

I hope things get better for you!

one of the reasons mental illness sucks so fucking much is because people around you can literally tell you again and again that they love you, that they think you’re cool and funny, that they support you in every way, that you’re talented or intelligent, and no matter how many times they say it you’ll always cringe and shake your head and say “no, no i’m not, really” but the SECOND someone says one bad thing about you, even just once. You believe it completely.

If you're looking for prompts, some Stan and Dipper bonding is always great! Like maybe playing cards or Stan showing Dipper to box?

Stan taught Dipper how to play Poker, and turns out, he’s really good at it
