The Elephant With A Gun - Elliot Alderson x Reader
Author’s note: Sorry I’ve been on a hiatus! Hopefully I’ll be more active now. My good friend @shitty-fanfiction-i-write came up with the title so props to her. Anyway, here’s a new one! Hope you like it.
“Elliot, wake up!” I shook him awake. “You’re late for work.”
I was still naked from last night, I covered myself with the blanket after he stared at my body for a moment. I’ve been trying to love my body but when he stares it makes me feel self conscious, despite how many times Elliot has told he how beautiful he thought I was.
“I could call in sick.” he suggested.
“I’ll be here when you get back from work. Let’s save that sick day for when we are busy.” I winked.
With a sigh, Elliot got up and got ready for work. He gave me a quick kiss on the lips before he left.
Flipper needed a walk so I threw on some clothes when a heavy pounding came from the door. I looked through the peephole, to see 2 men. They didn’t look very friendly and I knew they were probably here because of Elliot and his hacking. I quickly grabbed my purse and Flipper before I climbed out onto the fire escape.
Elliot always told me to go to the arcade in an emergency like this one. I kept myself aware of my surroundings, making sure no one was following me. I managed to dial Elliot’s number with my shaky hands.
“Hey babe.” he answered.
“There were 2 guys that came by the apartment. I think they were looking for you.”
“Where are you now?” I could hear the sudden change in his voice.
“I’m going to the arcade like you told me.” I answered.
“There is a gun in the popcorn machine.” he whispered. “I’m leaving now, call me if anything happens.”
“Okay. Elliot, just please be careful. And I love you.” I sighed.
“I love you too.” he answered before he hung up.
I boarded the subway with Flipper and I was paranoid. I watched everyone around me and I kept Flipper close to me. I didn’t know who those men were or what they were capable of and I didn’t want to find out. My mind couldn't help but worry about Elliot
I put up my hood as I walked to the arcade, my pepper spray was hidden in my pocket, ready to use if needed. Finally after the some what long walk, I finally got to the arcade. It was dark and cloudy out, it looked as if it was ready to pour any second. I lit a cigarette and took a few long drags to calm my nerves before I went inside.
I let Flipper and myself in with the key Elliot gave me. The arcade was kind of comforting and eerie at the same time. It looked abandoned unlike the time Elliot brought me here. I locked the door behind me, then I rummaged through the stale popcorn for the gun.
I hated guns and I didn’t know how to use it but I took it anyway. I felt safer sitting behind where kids used to trade their tickets for prizes. Flipper slept lazily beside me as I debated calling Elliot or not. I didn’t want to make him panic so I impatiently waited for him.
A few hours had passed when the door began to jiggle, I held the gun tight and held my breath. I let out a sigh of relief when I saw it was Elliot.
“Sorry I took so long.” he apologized.
“Don’t worry about it. You’re here now right?” I smiled, trying to be optimistic.
He pulled a stool up to the counter and set up his laptop. We sat in a brief moment of silence until the clicking of his keyboard resumed. Elliot didn’t say a word about the men or what they wanted. I leaned my head on his shoulder.
“When can we go home?” I sighed.
“You are staying at Darlene’s for a bit.”
“What about you? What is this all about Elliot? Why are these people pounding on your door?” I became seriously worried about his hacking.
I didn’t realize the severity of the situation until now. It made me question everything but I trust Elliot and he would keep me safe. I knew how he struggled with Shayla’s death. He blamed himself for everything that had to do with it.
“I don’t know, I’ll probably stay here.” he answered.
“No. If you stay, I’m staying. If you go, I’ll go.” I blurted out without any hesitation.
Elliot stopped typing for a moment, he was deep in his thoughts, processing what I said.
“You want to keep me safe right?” He looked up and nodded. “Well, I want to keep you safe too.” I explained.
Elliot didn’t say anything, he just nodded when Darlene let herself in. He shoved his laptop back into his bag.
“I want you to leave with Darlene first. Ill be following behind you from a distance. If anything happens you know what to do.” he looked at Darlene.
She nodded in agreement.
“I love you.” I gave him a kiss. “Be careful.” I said as I left with Darlene and Flipper.
“I love you too.” Elliot tried to give a reassuring smile before I closed the door behind us.
Darlene was quieter than normal, everyone was on edge. I desperately wanted to sit with Elliot on the other end of the subway car. He was trying to avoid any contact with me, and I was trying to do the same but I caught myself glancing in his direction.
I followed Darlene in silence, after the short walk we made it to her apartment. It was small and messy but it was cute. All kinds of funky things decorated her home. Elliot came in shortly after us. She set up the pullout couch for Elliot and I.
After Darlene went to bed, we lie awake. The elephant in the room needed to be talked about. Neither of us really wanted to talk about it. But it was clear Darlene and Elliot knew more than they were telling me and I need to know.
“Elliot.” I sighed. ”We need to talk about this.”
