MOVING HIATUS !!!!

Guess, just a heads up, I’m going to be away from now until Friday/Saturday due to sorting out our old house so don’t expect any new replies from @verydoctory @childrenoftiime && @knightedscientist. I am taking my dying laptop with me, and most of my replies have been written, just not typed I’m just sorry it’s taking a while. Hello! I tried going to therapy and it helped me (mostly to vent because we couldn't advance that much...) but when I told my mother about that she got mad and told me that I was still at it (she thinks that I fake most of my MI's) and I had to quit. No one in my family will care or try to believe me so I can't seek help from them. Do you guys have advice on how to talk to them, or my mother? I'm very bad at talking/interacting and I break down if they stare at me that much. (Tag as 4xd) Thanks.

Hey Anon,

I’m sorry your family isn’t supportive of you trying to seek help. The stigma surrounding mental illness oftentimes causes us to suffer in silence because people are misinformed about what mental illness is and how we can’t really make it go away.

There are many ways how you can start the conversation so I’ll be giving you a lot of ideas and feel free to stick to the ones you like best or think are doable. You don’t have to talk to the entire family at the same time, you can talk to them separately or only with who you feel most comfortable with.

- Talking to them while they’re driving: This sounds like a stupid tip but is one of the most useful things my therapist suggested. Studies show that children have some of the most honest and meaningful conversations with their parents when they’re in the passenger seat/ backseat of the car and their parents are driving. In this way they won’t be able to stare at you because they’re driving  and you don’t have to stare at them either, which can make it easier.

- Practice what you’re going to say: In front of a mirror, record yourself, while you’re taking a shower. Rehearsing saying something out loud makes us more confident and in control for when we have to say it in front of a person. You can also think about the possible reactions your family may have and prepare yourself for them.

-Visualize: Cliche but it helps. Imagine yourself having the interaction with your family. Imagine yourself saying what you want to say confidently and everything turning out well. Think about any hurdles you may encounter and visualize yourself dealing with them.

- Have some resources ready: This is really helpful because resources can do some of the talking for you and can fill up any awkward/uncomfortable moments. Kati Morton has some excellent videos explaining certain mental health problems for parents and our helpful resources page is also worth a look. You could also print out some leaflets or fact sheets. 

- Writing them a letter: If you don’t feel like you can express yourself fully out loud, write them a letter. A lot of people, including myself, feel more comfortable expressing themselves in writing and that’s perfectly okay. It doesn’t have to be dramatic or super emotional, it’s just writing out what you want to say and giving it to them to read.

- Ask someone to help: The first thing that comes to mind with this tip is to ask your GP. They can not only guide you to the appropriate mental health resources but also explain what mental illness is to your family. When an authority figure says something parents are more likely to believe it. Other people who could help are teachers, school counselors, a pastor or religious figure within your community. 

- Tell them what they need to know: It’s difficult to share everything at one go and apart from draining us can leave our family overwhelmed and at loss for what to do. Especially if you think the interaction will be uncomfortable, tell them only what they need to know and what you need for them.Tell them what you’re feeling, why it’s bothering you and why you think therapy would be useful. If they ask questions and prompt you, sharing as much as you feel comfortable with at that instant is perfectly acceptable.

I see your Frat Boy Vitya headcanons and I raise you:

Yuuri Katsuki being dragged to his first frat party after line three years at college spent just trying to blend into whatever wall is nearest. This is never going to happen and Yuuri thinks it’s because everyone is just amazed at how little of his shit he has together.

(They aren’t. “Fucking LOOK at him,” sighs many a sexually frustrated undergrad while pining loudly in Yuuri’s direction. Yuuri scuttles away with his hood closed almost completely around his face.)

Yuuri arrives at the party and immediately finds The Dog.

“There’s a dog here,” he tells Phichit, and spends the next three hours sitting on the floor with the dog.

“How are you?” he asks the dog very seriously as the dog slowly licks his shoulder. This is a Premium Dog. “Yes, good. Is my shoulder tasty? I’m so glad. I’m so glad you find my shoulder tasty. Whose dog are you?” The dog’s tags are in Cyrillic, which is really weird. Yuuri squints at the tag and finally says, “Whoever Binktop is, he has a really good dog.”

“Makkachin,” someone says eventually, and the dog gets up and goes to the interloper. 

“No, come back,” Yuuri whimpers as the dog leaves. He doesn’t go far–the guy who called him is standing on the edge of he crowd wearing Chinos and Gucci sunglasses.

They’re inside. At night.

“Are you Binktop?” Yuuri asks him blearily. People have been bringing him drinks the whole time he’s been sitting with the dog and he doesn’t know what that’s about. Probably they feel sorry for him.

(”I brought him a drink, Chad,” says a certain dejected brother of Iota Sigma Upsilon. “He took it but he looked like he was going to cry. All he said was I don’t need your pity. I don’t understand?”)

“Excuse me?” asks Binktop. There is some sort of expensive imported cider in his hand. He looks down at his dog as though he will know the answer.

Yuuri points at the dog’s tags. “Binktop. His owner.”

“Oh,” says Binktop. He bends down to show Yuuri that, on the backside of the tag he’d been looking at, the same information is listed in English. “No. Viktor.”

Yuuri frowns and squints. “You look more like a Binktop to me.” He holds out a hand for Makkachin the Dog and waits until he comes to sniff it. “You have a really good dog, Binktop. He’s a great dog.”

“You’re that figure skater, right?” Binktop asks, crouching down next to his dog. “Yuuri Katsuki?”

“Yes,” Yuuri sighs dejectedly. “That’s me.”

“Sick,” Binktop says.

“Yes, I am,” Yuuri says. “Do you have a bathroom, Binktop?”

He and Binktop spend half the night on the floor of the president of Iota Sigma Upsilon’s en-suite bathroom. Yuuri doesn’t know why Binktop chose to bring him to this bathroom, but it’s the one they’re in. Binktop doesn’t really seem interested in leaving, either. He holds Yuuri’s hair for him and listens to him talk about his family. Makkachin the Really Good Dog is there.

“It would probably be a good idea if you stayed here tonight,” Binktop says slowly after several hours of this. Yuuri stopped puking a awhile ago, thankfully. “I don’t know who you came here with, or where you live. I don’t think you do either.”

“Okay, I’m just gonna–” Yuuri climbs into the shower and curls up at the bottom. “This is good. I’m gonna sleep here, okay Binktop?”

“You could–I mean, if you want–my bed is softer.”

Yuuri glares at Binktop over his shoulder.

“No! I swear, no funny business. I’ll crash in Chris’ room. Or Micky or–someone, I promise.”

“Hmm. Okay.”

Binktop helps Yuuri get into bed and leaves a bucket next to him and makes him drink a glass of water. When he tries to take Makkachin with him, Yuuri tosses the covers back and says, “The good boy stays,” and Makkachin hops up. Binktop looks at Yuuri like he’s stolen something from him. The dog, probably.

(”I’m in love,” Viktor says to Chris later that night, swooning on Chris’ floor. “He stole my heart, right there!”)

Yuuri finds out later that Binktop is, in fact, Viktor Nikiforov. Viktor Nikiforov whose parents are major benefactors to the university. The gym where Yuuri trains is called the Nikiforov Intramural Sports Complex.

Viktor Nikiforov is the president of Iota Sigma Upsilon.

“Oh shit,” Yuuri whispers to himself.

“Do you want to go to breakfast?” Viktor Nikiforov asks him, looking a little less douchy in the light of day. Now that he’s not dressed up for a party, he’s wearing normal-person clothes, jeans and a university sweatshirt. His hair is ungelled and he looks nice and handsome. “I’ll walk you home first so you can change.”

“Okay,” Yuuri says softly.

Yuuri goes to breakfast with Viktor Nikiforov and then goes back to the Iota Sigma Upsilon house, where Viktor skillfully eats him out and announces that he intends to become Yuuri’s boyfriend.

The brothers of Iota Sigma Upsilon hoot and holler at Yuuri and Viktor’s wedding when Chris gets up with a microphone and says, “Let me tell you about how Yuuri and Viktor met! It started with a party and a dog…”

Small tips that make a (healthier) difference

Hey you! I dare you to try your best to follow this checklist tomorrow! But hey! Not so fast. Why not try it again the next day (and every day after that)? Sometimes it’s the smaller changes that can in fact help improve our health and wellbeing, especially when we think we’re short of time. School stressing you out? Everything is going to be ok. Try a few little things here. Tick everything off that you completed! Tell me how it goes for you!

This was a spontaneous post and I’ve found that I’ve been making errors in my posts recently! Plz correct me bc I am an egg. Hope u like it anyway.


Morning:

  • Wake up as soon as you do naturally or when your alarm goes off. Make your bed! Open the blinds!
  • Get out of bed and s t r e t c h – all the way from the very tips of your fingers to the tips of your toes. (Trust me, this feels good)
  • Set your intention for the day. This might be weird for some, but try it. Example: Today I will be productive. I will be focused on my tasks and I will take the time to relax when needed. It doesn’t have to be as complicated – Example 2: I can do this. Remind yourself again.
  • Eat breakfast. A MUST. Try my favourite: eggs (poached, scrambled or fried) on toast with avocado or baked beans. Yes. We are on a roll today.
  • Drink one full glass of water within the hour of waking (don’t down it all in one go though!).
    • Add 1/8 of a lemon to this. Lemon is great to alkalise the body and getting that digestive system of yours goin! This will flush out toxins in the body and support your immune system too!
      • Side note: Wait half an hour before brushing your teeth after this (or maybe do it before) because lemons are acidic after all and can probably do some damage to your shiny whites.
  • Try having a water bottle by your bedside and beside you throughout the day as a constant reminder to drink water as you see it. Trust me, this has helped improve my water intake a lot.
  • Organise your day. What are your plans? What are of priority and what are not? Try brain dumping this, and then organising each task/item into a list, categorised in importance. This will help decrease stress throughout the day and easy referral back to this list.
  • Dress in some lovely clothes! Your fave sweater and some cool black tights? 100%!! What about that pretty skirt you like with a nice top? HECK YEAH!!!

Midday:

  • Lunchtime! Eat again. Wholesome foods are an absolute must whenever you can.
  • Aim for 3-4 cups of water by lunchtime (inclusive of the glass of lemon water you had this morning).
  • Remember that intention you set this morning? Say it again.
  • Throw a compliment at someone. Be genuine. This will have a butterfly effect. If someone throws one at you to – don’t disagree! Say thank you. You rock, don’t doubt that.
  • Are there any ticks beside those tasks on your checklist from this morning? I hope so!
  • Throw in a random burst of exercise! In public too – who cares! Pick one of these: 50 starjumps! 3 sets of 10 squats! A quick walk around outdoors!

Arvo (/Afternoon… Straya):

  • Hit that 3pm slump? Same. Here are a few ideas to get you going, especially coming home from a long day:
    • NAP! 15-20 mins. No longer. No less. Be strict here or your sleep pattern might go funny and we don’t want that. (And groggy headaches are gross)
    • Exercise! This is so fundamental to our health and wellbeing. Try out short pilates videos (no equipment) here (that as living proof, work) or some really cool yoga videos here, here, and here. Yoga is great. Try this daily. Or take a brisk walk for 30 minutes  = wake up your brain, pick up your mood AND burn some fat. C’mon, go get your shoes!
    • Have a healthy snack, such as those listed in this great post by @tbhstudying. Get your brain and bod going, my friends!
  • Write down your to do list for any work, study or event related things that you need to complete this afternoon. Set out all your equipment, sort out your papers from the day and get organised!
  • Clear your (bedroom/bed/desk/floor/work/closet) space for 5 minutes every day. I’m guessing that you’ve started to pile a few things here like I do. This will save you time and help maintain cleanliness, staving away from the complicated stress that comes from having to reorganise just about everything which we all know to hate when we’re busy with other things.
  • Have you had your 5th and 6th cups of water of the day yet? Get to it!
  • Sit up straighter and you’ll look more confident and feel more confident. Your back will also be very grateful for this.

Night:

  • Continue all your extra to-dos. Get this done. You can do it!
  • Make sure to put something in your body guys. I’m talking food here by the way… don’t let that sentence mislead you! This is especially important for those of you probably thinking “I’ll just eat later” or “I’m not hungry”.  Eat. EAT NOW. PleASE.
  • Spend some quality time with your family. How’s their day been? Tell them about yours too.
  • Glasses of water No. 7, 8 and beyond should be here.
  • Prep your meals, lists, notes, outfits, etc. for the next day. Getting these things sorted now will help you get it out of the way and save you time!
  • Settle down a little. It’s time to wiiiind doooooooownnn. Read a book. Scroll through Tumblr (aaayeee!) – but not too deep into the pits okay guys. Watch a little TV.
  • I know a lot of posts say to switch off 1-2 hours before bed. If you’re literally glued to your electronics, try switching off 5 minutes earlier every day and replace that with something else. What about doing your prep items for the next day (listed two points back!!)? Or, do get those pesky chores out the way.
    • Side note: Cleaning your room often will help freshen it, get rid of itchy dust and decrease the chances of bugs and other smol random things to crawl around your room. (If that’s not a little motivation then I’m not sure what is…). It’ll also keep your space maintained so you don’t have to do it all at once. *Shudders* Plus the likelihood of those gross germs from the world hanging around and building up in there is a no-no.
  • Sleep! 7-8 hours. Your body will thank you for it. CRUCIAL for healthy brain and body function. Plus your mood and skin will improve (i.e. gOODBYE EYEBAGS and hELLO GLOWING SKIN).
    • Side note: I see you reading this at 12am when you should be sleeping. I see you.

I hope this has helped you guys a little or at least inspired you to make a small change to your daily routine! Try doing a few items here (e.g. glass of lemon water, sitting up straighter, 8+ cups of water) and record this on a habit tracker! The smallest changes often have the greatest effects!

Hey guys! Really sorry for the lack of new comics - I’ve been hella busy lately. My schedule is a bit all over the place right now, but I promise that I’ll do my best to post at least once a week!

VOMIT WARNING (I know some people don’t like that, so just a warning)

Because I’m spiraling into a Voltron writing obsession, here’s another college AU, based loosely on my own experiences ayyyyyy *finger guns*

“So I was thinking we could-” Keith started, but was once again, for what must have been the hundredth time today, cut off by Lance.

“-Hey, have you guys seen that video?”

Keith and Hunk groaned in frustration.

Shiro sighed. “You did it again, Lance.”

Keith let out an exasperated sigh. “Lance! You can’t keep-Lance! I’m talking to you. Will you pay attention for like, FIVE minutes? Or even TWO?”

Lance snapped his attention back to Keith. “Hmm?”

Keith clenched his jaw, frustration bubbling in his chest. Lance was completely unable to focus. On ANYTHING. He had been distracted and disruptive all day, bouncing off the walls and going off on tangents that were completely unrelated to what anybody was talking about.

Keith was exhausted just trying to keep up with him. Even Shiro, ever patient Shiro, was growing frustrated with him.

“What’s WITH you today?”

“I…uh…too much coffee, I guess.” Lance said, glancing around uncomfortably before hopping out of his seat and grabbing all his stuff.

“Lance, what’s going o-”

“-I have to go do homework!”

Keith, Shiro and Hunk watched as Lance hurried off.

“What…was that?” Hunk asked. “I mean he’s always been…crazy but not like THIS.”

“Uh…coffee, apparently.” Shiro frowned.

Lance burst into his room, his heart pounding in his chest. He was just annoying everyone, but he couldn’t help it. He tried, he tried SO hard, but he was completely and totally unable to focus.

He had completely forgotten to take his medication this morning, and he didn’t realize it until nearly five PM, and by that time it was too late. If he took it now, he wouldn’t sleep that night, and he needed to sleep.

He knew it was a lost cause, but he was going to try and get some studying done.

Instead of studying, he found himself spinning in his desk chair, staring up at the ceiling to count the tiles.

While he was spinning, some Velcro from one of his projects caught his eye, and before he knew it, he was taping half of it to the wall, and half to his hands.

Keith walked in right as he was about to launch himself off the bed and onto the wall.

“Lance!”

“Yes, roomie?” Lance asked, bouncing up and down on the bed lightly.

“What the hell are you doing? Get down!”

“I wanted to be SpiderMan.”

“You wanted to be spider-get down!” He cried, throwing his hands in the air. “I thought you were studying.”

“I was going to…but then I got sidetracked.” He said, slowly coming to a standstill.

“Okay, this,” Keith said, gesturing from the wall to Lance, “is NOT a good idea. Seriously.”

Lance sighed. “Yeah I guess you’re right - hey have you seen that video?”

Keith pinched the bridge of his nose. “I don’t…you need to be a bit more specific. What video are you talking about?”

“The…uh…guy who ate weed brownies and thought he was dead. Ooh! There’s this really good show on Netflix. The Flash, have you heard of it?Season one isn’t great, but it gets better. Have you watched it?”

Keith blinked. “No, I haven’t. Lance, are you alright?”

“Peachy. Why?”

“You’re all over the place, man.”

Lance’s face hardened, and he got off the bed and went to sit at his desk. “I told you. I had too much coffee.”

“Um…okay.”

Keith sat on his bed, facing Lance. 

He watched as Lance struggled to calm himself enough to focus. 

He watched as Lance tapped his pencil on the desk incessantly and rolled back and forth in his chair while he stared at his laptop. He must have gotten up fifteen times to go walk to their mini fridge and walk back to his seat.

Then, Lance straightened in his chair and pressed a hand to his stomach. A grimace crossed his face and he stood up.

“Lance? Are you okay?”

“Stomachache.” He bit out, gritting his teeth as he climbed into bed.

Keith frowned. “Are you going to be sick?”

“I don’t…maybe.” He groaned.

“What happened? You were fine literally a minute ago.”

“I’m fine. Leave me alone.” He groaned, curling into himself as tightly as possible.

“Lance-”

“-I’m FINE. This happens a lot. Leave me alone.”

“What do you mean?” He demanded. “Do you need to see a doctor?”

Lance let out a heavy sigh. “I have…nnngh…I have ADHD.”

“That…what does that have to do with your stomach?”

“I forgot to take my meds. This is a side effect.”

“Oh shit.” Keith said, his eyebrows shooting up. “Do you need anything?”

“I just need to…r-ride it out.” He groaned, gripping the blankets and writhing in pain. Sharp, stabbing, cramping pains were shooting across his abdomen in waves.

“Are you sure?”

Lance just groaned in pain, pressing his face into the pillow.

“Okay, I’m calling Shiro.”

“No-”

“-it’s not up for discussion, Lance.” He said firmly.

Lance whimpered in pain, squeezing his eyes shut.

Keith dialed Shiro’s number, keeping his eyes on Lance.

“Hey, Keith.”

“Shiro, we need you over here.”

“What’s the matter?”

“It’s Lance.”

“What happened with Lance?”

“He has a really bad stomachache…he’s writhing in pain in bed and I don’t know what to do.”

“Does he have a fever?”

“I don’t-Lance, do you have a fever?”

“No, idiot. I don’t have a fever.” Lance spat. “I’m not SICK, you don’t need to call Sh-Shiro…I’m f-ngggh.”

Keith rolled his eyes. “He doesn’t have a fever.”

“Give him something for the pain, I’ll be there soon.”

A wave of nausea rolled over him, and he got out of bed and made a b-line for the bathroom.

Lance slammed the door shut, and leaned over the toilet to empty his stomach. When he emerged from the bathroom, pale and shaky, Shiro was there.

“Are you alright?” He asked, pressing his hand to Lance’s cheek.

Lance batted his hand away. “I’m fine.”

Throwing up almost always brought relief when this happened. He felt mostly better, his stomach still hurt but it was nowhere as bad as before.

“You’re not fine.” Shiro said, shaking his head. Lance groaned, thoroughly irritated at all the attention he was getting.

Keith pursed his lips. “He says it’s a side effect from not taking his medication.”

Shiro frowned. “What? What medication?”

Lance clenched his jaw. “I have ADHD. I forgot to take my medication and that’s why I was so unbearable today.”

“Lance, you weren’t-”

“I annoyed you…I know I was.  I knew when I kept cutting you off.  I know how annoying I get when I don’t take them…I tried really hard to stop…to be normal, but I couldn’t.  I’m sorry.” Lance said, his eyes filling with tears. 

“Look,” Shiro started.  “I’ll admit…I was getting frustrated.”

“Me too, but dude, it wasn’t just that you were annoying.  We knew something was up, you’re not usually this…uh…”

“All over the place.” Shiro supplied. 

“Yeah, that.  You’re not usually all over the place like this.”

“We were just worried.” 

Lance looked at them.  “You were?”

Both Shiro and Keith nodded.  “Yeah.”

Lance sighed.  “I don’t really tell people,..ever.”

“Why wouldn’t you tell us?” Shiro asked. “We’re your friends. Did you think we’d judge you?”

“Well…yeah…kind of.” Lance muttered, bringing his eyes to the floor.

Keith shook his head. “Why would we judge you for that? So what? What…uh…is ADHD?”

Lance rubbed his forehead. “Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. I can’t focus, basically. Look, as much as I’d love to continue this…health lesson…I’m exhausted.”

Shiro nodded. “Yeah…thank you though, for telling us. We don’t think any less of you, you know.”

Lance hung his head, rubbing the back of his neck. “I appreciate that, thanks.”

“Get some sleep, feel better.” Shiro said, clapping him on the back. “Call me if you need anything else.”

Keith walked him to the door as Lance got back into bed. “Thanks, Shiro.”

“Anytime.”

You aren’t deserving of it because you raised your voice or said harsh words.

If we have ruined anything between her and Magnus, we’re soooo sorry, but it was Isak who started everything. You should me mad at him, it’s so important that we stand together as a bus.

NOORA: I just thinks it’s so weird that Isak would make a hate account on Sara. Like.. Why?

EVA: He’s probably pissed at her for some reason. I don’t know what’s going on in Isak’s head, but I actually thought he’d changed. Apparently now. I’m really disappointed.

VILDE: What are you writing?

EVA: You can stand together, we’re out. We won’t be on a bus with people who hate.

CHRIS: We’re without a bus again, then.

EVA: She’s saying..

CHRIS: I know about a cheap van we can buy.

VEA: “Hello! We have to talk before you drop out of the bus.” What is there to talk about? If you make a hate account, I don’t want to be friends with you. There’s nothing to talk about! Don’t you agree? People are totally crazy!

VILDE: I think it has something to do with that Trump being the president.
