sorry for the terms

Comic dub of an Overwatch fancomic by @nikanono - featuring the voice of @totalspiffage as Tracer and Widowmaker! Sorry, I indulged a bit; both in terms of promoting a friend’s work as well as quoting a song from Persona 4 for the outro. The two may be related in more ways you can imagine! Or at least the one way. Ahem. You can also think of this as a sem-sequel (kinda) to “Realization”, so that there’s a happy ending (kinda?) yaaaaay~!

If you enjoyed that, why not support me on ko-fi or watch some of my other Overwatch comic dubs?

kia ora :) i'm still pretty new to socialism n i don't rlly understand what labour aristocracy is. googling it it seems to be workers on higher wages who aren't in poverty but from your discussion it sounds like it is more about settlers and colonialism. is it both? sorry, i'm a little confused

Kia ora, labour aristocrat is a term used by Lenin to describe segments of workers who are sufficiently bought off by capitalists or invested in bourgeois ideology that they cannot be relied on to participate in class struggle. An example would be, for instance, very highly paid workers, or police officers. When it’s applied this way, I think it can be a really useful concept. However, the term is often misapplied to argue that instead of describing a specific segment of workers who can be identified by their specific material position and function in a class society, instead all workers in imperialist nations are labour aristocrats. A connotation of that misapplication is that certain races are considered labour aristocrats, and we can’t build solidarity or engage in collective struggle with people of these races, which imo is ahistorical. The idea that all white workers are labour aristocrats who will fuck over brown workers the first chance they get because imperialism exists just doesn’t describe what happens in practice - the construction unions in New Zealand, for example, enforced a work ban which prevented the dismantling of a Māori land occupation camp. They had nothing to gain from that as settlers in this country, but they did so because of class politics and cross-racial solidarity. I think that’s the kind of thing we should encourage, and anti-materialist applications of the concept of a labour aristocrat prevent that from happening.

I was sooooo confused because usually the acronym MAPs in fandom means "multiple animator projects" and I had no clue why that would be banned or what it had to do with pedophiles.

I’m so sorry that the term was taken away! I wish that’s what MAP stood for these days!

8r8 promoting all my crew to the rank of Captain, regardless of how long they have worked on 8oard and have spent attempting to showcase their worthiness of receiving that position.

Clearly, no matter their life experience they are deserving of all the same position. Sorry, long-term, loyal workers who shovelled and 8led their way through gaining my respect 8ut that new air-head that 8arely knows what the 8ack of their own hand looks like is 8eing elev8ted to the same status as you without putting in as half as the sweat and effort the others in higher more qualified ranks have.

So about those space orcs...

I’ve seen a lot of posts about humans pack-bonding with frankly everything, no matter how big, scary, threatening, lethal or oozy.

But you know what I haven’t seen?

Humans entrusting their young to their pack-bonded friends. Because that’s a thing we do. We entrust our children to our friends. We entrust our children to our dogs. We befriend the biggest, meanest, scariest shit, and then we dump our defenseless, hasn’t-even-got-a-fully-fused-skull-yet offspring on them. Half for shits-and-giggles, half because it’s cute, mostly because children are exhausting and we need a nanny.

honestly, what I think would be great for like the opening scene of the Raven Cycle tv series is this:

It starts off with an aerial shot of a quiet night and the interstate has no cars. The shot zooms into the sign on I-64 that says Welcome to Henrietta. It’s dirty, and you can still see remnants of the spray paint over it. Then it goes off into all the places that make Henrietta.  Slowly go over Nino’s where there’s a crowd of kids and it’s hustling and bustling with activity. Then show Aglionby, which is quiet, except for a few lights in dorm windows on. Go to Monmouth, and in the corner of the shot, you see a shadow of a boy. Then Boyd’s where you see just a lone bicycle outside, and a teenage boy hunched over a car through the window. Go back to the streets, it’s quiet, but then suddenly the revving of engines is heard and a white Mitsubishi and a black BMW speed into the shot and then over the horizon in a flash of screeching tires and red lights. And to finish off, it goes to the churchyard, in the distance you see an orange Camaro, and then goes to a stone wall and starts the show with Blue, like it does in the books.

All while Southern Nights by Glen Campbell plays to give the illusion of a normal rural town before anything is found out (which we as readers all know, but if anyone watches the show without any prior knowledge of what goes down it would be great)

Hey, if you’re not indigenous, don’t just go ahead and define what “two spirit” means. No one needs your “mix of male and female” shit. It’s our identity - we get to decide what it means for us.

This has been a PSA.

Visibilly hurt. Like he would be trying to hide his tears “I am sorry, baby I really am” he’ll say before pulling you into his arms.
