Cora was trying to come up with some words to make this situation better. She looked to Arnold, who was holding his hands up in defeat. This made Cora roll her eyes and wonder what she saw in him.
“Rylan, calm down. I know you don’t mean this. Otherwise you wouldn’t have invited me to come!” Cheyenne tried to reason with him, her attempts being less than persuasive.
In fact, it was making Rylan angrier by the second. “I don’t get it! I don’t understand you Waites girls! Or any girls for that matter! You think it’s okay to try to take advantage of me because I’m a nice guy. Then there’s the fact that my girlfriend, the girl I’ve been in love with most of my life, refuses to be seen in public with me!”
Sophia, having just joined the scene, instantly jumped to the defensive side of things. “Rylan!”
“No, I’m done. I’m not going to be some play toy for you or your sister anymore. Don’t worry, no more secrets to tear you up, Sophia!” Rylan shook his head and started to stalk off.
Cora, trying to fix everything that was going wrong on this camping trip, walked over to Sophia with a blank look on her face. “You need to talk to them, both of them. A lot of this could have been avoided if you had just been honest.”
