According to Wikipedia, this is a list of notable performances in the Hard Bop subgenre of Jazz. I’ve listened to and/or owned almost all of these at some point in my life, and I never realized that they could be grouped together like this.
If you’re curious about Jazz in the 50s and 60s, you could pick any record off this list and find out if you’re into it … but I’d recommend Blue Train or Maiden Voyage if you asked me to narrow it down to just two.
Today is the 30th Birthday of one ugly mother$&%*er! On June 12, 1987, PREDATOR was released theatrically!
I still can’t believe that
Jean-Claude Van Damme
was the first choice to suit up as the PREDATOR! Footage of the
Belgian actor performing in costume does actually exist. Rumor has it, the original alien suit was hotter than a Mickey Mouse costume in July in Disney World. Stan Winston was called in to re-design the creature. Kevin Peter Hall replaced JCVD and the rest is history!
Imagine introducing your boyfriend, Carisi, to your father, Munch.
——— Request for anon ———
“Hey, doll, ya’ almost done with that report?” calls you from your final touches to the report, forcing your eyes up to catch Carisi checking his watch. “We’ve gotta’ leave or we’ll be late to dinner with your dad.”
“What time is it?” you ask, glancing back down to quickly scan the report for anything missing before you had to leave the precinct.
“Ten till eight,” and he’s holding your coat, offering it to you as you get up. You easily read the look on his face. After all, you had been dating him for the last few months.
“Nervous?” you sigh, a smile eating at your lips as you reach out once in front of the elevator to intertwine his fingers with your own.
Carisi lets out a chuckle, “Ah, a little. I know his opinion means a lot to you, so I really want him to like me.”
“Trust me, you’ll do just fine, even if he does pick on you a little bit, first.”
“Like father, like daughter, then, huh?” he teases.
