The level design of the second area in Sonic the Hedgehog, Marble Zone, has a much greater emphasis on careful planning and precise movement in comparison to Green Hill Zone. By placing these two styles of levels in direct contrast to one another, the game is preparing players for the more common combination of both elements in future (such as in Star Light and Labyrinth Zone).

Let’s Play Sonic the Hedgehog!

So I decided I wanted to try my hand at something that hasn’t really been popular in, like, 10 years. A screenshot lp! Although i’ll mostly be doing this with GIFs instead of screenshots because it’s more dynamic. The first game I’ll be playing is Sonic 1 for the Sega Genesis! Let’s get started shall we?

Oh man, that brings me back. You know, fun fact, this thing right here actually took up an eighth of the space on the game cartridge. Yeah, no joke. Also full disclosure I am playing this on an emulator because I get the best picture quality this way.

Look at that shit-eating grin. Dude KNOWS he’s better than Mario. Yeah I said it. Sorry not sorry bros.

Aw man I love this game. So much. Check out this flawless jump. All right, this post is getting long. Stay tuned for the next one!

Also I just noticed now that the mouse is on the screen. Sorry about that. I’ve already recorded the whole game so there’s nothing I can do about it now. It won’t be there for Sonic 2 tho I promise.

DOES SEGA CARE ABOUT SONIC THE HEDGEHOG ANYMORE!?!?!?!?!? Sonic The Hedgehog (2006) Sonic And The Secrete Rings (2007)

Everyone thought that my previous post game (Shadow The Hedgehog) was the downfall of Sonic (Which I personally liked the game) BUTTTTTTTT this game however…..makes me cringe.  Ladies and Gentlemen, introducing one of the worst Sonic games of all time, put your hands together for a game that is not even fully playable (no joke), Sonic the Hedgehog!!!  You’ll be asking yourself now, WAIT, didn’t you like Sonic The Hedgehog and also….wasen’t it your second post you did for Tumblr!?!?!? YES and No.  I did do Sonic the Hedgehog back in 1991 for the Sega Genesis. (which was awesome) BUUUTTTT this sonic game however is Sonic the Hedgehog for Xbox 360/PS3 in 2006.

Sonic The Hedgehog Sega Genesis 1991

Sonic The Hedgehog for ps3/Xbox 360 in 2006

The first of the many problems with this game is that the story tries to take itself to seriously with Sonic trying to save a princess from a tyrant ruler with very confusing plot elements compared to the simple Sonic formula of getting chaos emeralds before a mad scientist uses them to take over the world.  In this game it tries to tell a very complicating story that makes no sense to begin with as Sonic has to protect a character that dosen’t look like she belongs in the game, its stupid!

This looks so wrong.  How does this character fit with a big blue hedgehog, I don’t think it works.

The biggest thing this game faces is the incredible amount of glitches/bugs that are present throughout this game.  They’re is some sections in this game where you have to glitch in a level in order to pass the level, it’s that bad :(

(for anyone who doesn’t know what a glitch is, a glitch is a malfunction in where it was not planned to cooperate the way it does.)

the glitches include sinking through floors, standing still while moving, and walking upside down with no momentum!

This game should not exist

The next game is equally as bad called “Sonic and The Secrete Rings made for the Wii in 2007.  Just like Sonic 06, a lot of glitches and in my opinion a lot worse controls!!! Both of these games are equally as bad in my eyes.

Sega makes a weird comeback with the Sonic Franchise that includes a Knight, a Werewolf, and Aliens!! STAY TUNED!!

Sonic the Hedgehog: 25 Years

So today is the 25th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog. On June 23rd, 1991 the blue blur debuted on the Sega Mega Drive. Now I may have been born in 1999 and I’m pretty sure the first Sonic game I played was Shadow the Hedgehog (Please don’t judge me) I consider Sonic to be my personal hero. Yeah, good old Mr. Needlemouse is my hero! How? Well, I think today is the perfect day to finally explain why I look up to Sonic the Hedgehog.

My favorite hobby is helping people. And I’m pretty sure Sonic was the influence for that. Now I’m mainly talking about the Archie comics when I say this, as I consider them better than the games. Sonic is always saving people. Whether he knows them or not, hates them or loves them, he’s always saving the day with a smile.

Ok these aren’t a lot of examples but hey its enough for me. Sonic is the hero, but like all good heroes, it doesn’t stop at the smile. Unlike most of the games, he has other emotions other than cocky.

But he never gets discouraged, Sonic bounces right back and is ready to kick some ass!

There’s not much else I can say. Sonic is a good guy and I look up to him. I have other people I look up to , Walt Disney, Theodore Roosevelt, Bruce Lee, but only Sonic stands up above the rest for this reason. Happy Birthday to Dr. Eggman, Scourge the Hedgehog, and of course, Sonic the Hedgehog!
