take me home, country roads
i hear her voice in the morning hour
she calls me
the radio reminds me of my home far away
and driving down the road i get a feeling
that i should’ve been home yesterday, yesterday
country roads, take me home
to the place where i belong [🌿]
I hate that people say Gerard capitalizes on his grandma's death with Helena? Like it's obvious that the song means a lot to him, and Mikey, and he's very proud of it and I'm sure it was hard for him to release that and sing it at the concerts. I think writing a song about her death was a way to cope and him sharing the song was very special.
Yeah, people find a way to find problem in Gerard’s music no matter what.
One of my peeves is that people accuse him of “trivializing” this or that issue in his music. They say he appropriates mental illness in Maya the Psychic. They say he trivializes rape in You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us In Prison.
But my question to those people is: how do you even know he can’t relate to those issues?
People seem to accuse him on the belief that he shouldn’t write what he himself hasn’t gone through. Yet he himself had said, in regards to you know what they do to guys like us in prison, “I havent been raped in prison but i can relate”. he alludes to the fact that he did go through something of that sort.
Who are you to say he didn’t?
Or to what extent he has experienced mental illness?
And honestly, even if he didn’t, there has never been a rule in music that you can only write about what you yourself have gone through. No one is trying to fact check Freddie Mercury to make sure he really was a “poor boy from a poor family”. Maybe Gerard had close friends that had these experiences. Or shit, maybe thats just what he felt like writing about.
But YET, when we can’t find meaning in Gerard’s lyrics, people complain that they make no sense.
Similar to when I talked about those people, I can only remind others that we don’t know Gerard’s entire life story. You shouldn’t assumed this or that never happened to him, just because he hasn’t talked about. Gerard is actually a relatively private person, and I’d bet that there’s plenty we don’t know.
Day 5 – Tell us what is your favorite song and the meaning of it for you
Although I have some other songs that I absolute love, NO COMPLIANCE will always hold a special place in my ♥ because it was the 1st Delain song I have ever heard and the one that turn me into a fan! :)
Hi everyone, With 5 days left until the final deadline, I feel like I still need more people to get involved in this project. Not for me, or for the video’s purpose, but simply because I feel like 5SOS deserves the biggest support they can get, especially for a song that seems to be so important/meaningful to them.
I’ve had some incredible support here on Tumblr and Twitter as well, and for this I’m so thankful. Honestly, you guys are amazing. But now it’s time to reach out for more people ♥
If you’ve stumbled upon this post, everything about this project is explained in this (extremely) long post here - but if you need a quick summary, here’s the thing.
What’s the project about? It’s basically a video to promote She’s Kinda Hot and show the band what the song trully means to us.
How do we take part in this thing? You just have to send me videos at firstname.lastname@example.org
What videos? what should I do? To make things a little easier, I’ve set up three categories. You can either pick one, or two, or just make a video for each of them. It’s up to you.
1. They say we’re losers… This is basically you telling us about something you’re insecure about, or something you’ve been told before that definitely hurt your feelings/confidence, something you’re being judged for etc. You can either talk or hold a piece of paper with your confession written on it.
2. My shrink is telling me I’ve got crazy dreams… Do you have that ONE crazy dream that everyone around you might think is out of reach/unrealistic? tell us about it. Whether you want to walk on the moon, be a rockstar, touch Luke’s nose or just be happy , tell us about it. (again, you can either talk or hold a piece of paper)
3. We’re Alright though. Now it’s time to have fun! this is the part of the video when we show the world that no matter what we’ve gone through, no matter what people say, we’ll be alright. The main part of this category is to be yourself and have fun while listening to the song. So if you can cover a part, sing, play an instrument, lip-dub to your favorite part, dance, go crazy, that’s cool, just HAVE FUN. And finally, I’d like everyone to hold a piece of paper saying “I’m alright” so I can end this video on a happy note :)
That’s about it really. Videos shouldn’t be longer than 10sec so I can fit everyone. Deadline is August 6th (but I can give some extra time to whoever needs it) - thank you so much for being part of this. Thanks A LOT to everyone that has already sent me videos… You’re every kind of awesome ♥
*skips every song on shuffle for a solid 2 minutes*
*lands on taylor swift song*
oohhh OH WHAT A COINCIDENCE! HAhahahAH GUESS WE HAVE TO guess WE HAVE TO LISTEN TO THIS SONG NOW I MEAN its shuffle what are we gonna do I guess we HavE TO A COINCIDIENCE NOT THAT I WANTED OT hahahaAHHA AHAHAahahahaI WAS RIDING SHOT GUN WITH MY HAIR UNDONE IN THE FRONT SEAT OF HIS CAR
The bad: Much of it just kind of felt flat to me. The ending felt rushed, and only about half of the songs worked. I mean, I’m a huge Chenoweth fan, but I found her song boring and unnecessary. the final song was completely tacked on, and how dare Ortega remix and add rap to Be Our Guest!!
The good: The rest of the songs worked, the four main kids did a good job, and over all it was still a fun film. I am actually looking forward to the sequel that was hinted at, though I don’t know if I will watch the animated series.
permanent vacation sounds like a big FUCK YOU from 5sos to any adult who ever told them they couldn’t make it in life as performers hence the “well i say 9-to-5 is overrated”, and they are showing with “destination: permanent vacation” the rockstar lifestyle is their final goal. to be preformers for life and make their living doing what they love while influencing young bands hence the “imitations are taking over radio stations” to be like 5sos and try for the goal of making it into the “new generation” of pop-punk
