Anders Zorn, Sommarnöje, 1886, watercolour on paper, 76 × 54 cm, Private Collection. Source
Translated simply as ‘summertime’, Sommarnöje is Sweden’s most expensive painting ever sold. I simply cannot get over the perfection in Zorn’s painted water; it looks like a photograph! Zorn was an Impressionist and though this particular piece is Impressionist-like in subject, the style is very linear and much less painterly than some of his other works.
