sometimes records

I am trying to write a poem about my loneliness
But the page just seems to insist
on staying empty.
But loneliness isn’t emptiness
loneliness is the lead ball in the pit of your stomach
and the feathers tickling the back of your throat
loneliness is the itch you cannot scratch
it’s feeling far too much
far too little.
Loneliness is an all consuming enigma
of the past
of a past
Of a past you’re trying to forget
Of a past you can’t help but regret
Of a past that shoved you into the position
of isolation in which you reside
In which you’re going to die.
And sometimes solitude becomes gratitude
but the demolition of the monuments
that used to be perched on my ribs
left nothing but dust
and I am no longer grateful.

I used to build shrines in my heart to girls who would
never quite love me.
But that was never loneliness.
Unrequited love is a social activity because broken hearts
scream louder than all the wind in the world
howling together.
Despite the rain and miserable weather
I could fill myself up with love even though no one
would ever reciprocate
even though I always had to compensate
by giving more than I had left in me.
I would clutch my chest and rip out pieces of my heart
on which metaphors for love and birds and bones
and sadness and stars
would rest.
I could gift these to those who smiled.
Because nothing cuts into loneliness like affection
or attention
or the smile of someone who has no
reason to.
I suppose I never had a reason to.

I am trying to write a poem about the rain.
They say that people are nothing like rain
nothing like snow
nothing like autumn leaves
because people do not look beautiful when they fall.
A phrase I could never quite wrap my head around.
Because to me falling is dancing
and dancing is writing
and writing is cleaning your body of the toxins
that well up behind your eyes
and hide behind your liver
and pump fluid in your lungs.
What isn’t beautiful is hitting the ground.
The snowflakes will dissolve and the rain
will be absorbed by the greedy earth.
The leaves will rot
and you’ll be taking shots
Until your heart falls out of your chest.

Loneliness is falling
and falling is dancing
and dancing is writing
and I am trying to write a poem about my overwhelming
fear of touching the solid ground.
I am trying to write a poem about falling
Because I reside in free fall
and my heart falls for the snow
and the snow falls for the rain
and the first rule of gravity is everything
must fall
So we fall
And I fall
and you fall.

—  Fall (Emf)

This is an illustration of the differences between a record company, a record label, a distribution deal and an imprint.

The music industry is made up of RECORD COMPANIES. There are three of them, with unequal shares of the market. These record companies own RECORD LABELS, who make the vast majority of decisions regarding the artists that they sign.

Sometimes record labels will also have IMPRINTS. They’re a bit like record labels, except the record label that owns the imprint will have a degree of say in how the imprint is run, who they sign and how much money they get.

Sometimes artists will have DISTRIBUTION DEALS. This gives them more freedom over the kind of music they make, how they release that music, and means they usually aren’t committed to making a certain number of albums. Only high value artists have distribution deals (Beyonce has one.)

Harry Styles is signed to Columbia, which is owned by Sony, and has a distribution deal through his own Erskine Records.

Liam Payne is signed to Capitol, which is owned by Universal, and has a distribution deal through his own Hampton Records.

Niall Horan is signed to Capitol, which is owned by Universal, and has a distribution deal through his own Neon Haze Records.

Louis Tomlinson appears to be signed to Syco, which is owned by Sony, and appears to have an imprint label called Triple Strings.

Get yourself some roommates who have Star Wars discourse screaming matches on a regular basis. Yes I sometimes join in.

zadjatheifrit  asked:

What was it like getting your first gig as a director on a show like Ducktales, and what does it mean honestly to be a director?

Hey! Like doing anything for the first time I was in complete denial that I could direct and thought I was going to get fired everyday. After about two months I got into the groove of things and found out I really LIKE directing! The multitasking, the collaboration, apparently I’m into that shit. Unfortunately I had to leave DT early bc I was moving on to develop my own project full time.

Your second question interests me a lot. Most people think a director for feature film and a director for TV do the same things. They don’t! I don’t know what it’s like to direct a film but here’s what my situation was like on Ducktales: I was one of 3 directors. I had a team of 3 (awesome and amazing) board artists that I was supervising; making sure their separate scenes flowed into one cohesive episode. My boss, the showrunner Matt Youngberg, basically does what I do on a macro scale. He supervises the directors and makes sure all the episodes flow into one cohesive series (plus attends an atrocious amount of meetings). I don’t write, though I may suggest changes if some problems arise. Luckily we have a super collaborative team where we have an open dialogue with the writers. I also spend a lot of time with editors figuring out the timing of everything. (That’s a part of the process I really love. If you’re thinking of directing start stock piling a music library! Your future self with thank you!) I do a million other tiny jobs but my main goal is making sure my episodes are fun.

Every director prioritizes different things and every show defines a director in a different way. Many shows have Assistant Directors. (Ducktales doesn’t.) Some shows don’t even have directors, they have storyboard supervisors, different name for the same job. Sometimes directors are also writers, sometimes they attend records, sometimes they board sometimes they don’t etc etc. But no matter where you are you always have the same goal: to make your episodes CLEAR and ENTERTAINING. Everything else is secondary.

Hey guys! I know I said I’d be writing more but I haven’t posted anything! I was out of the country for a little bit and then went on a family vaction, but I am back! I know this isn’t a full blown one shot, but it’s better than nothing (And I had so many ideas sooo!)

I hope this is what you had in mind and that you like it! If not please let me know and I can try again!(:

~~~
Tony Stark:
Most people would think Tony liked to dance like he’s at the club. Your back pressed close to his front as you swayed mindlessly to the beat. However, Tony’s favorite way to dance with you was ballroom style. His parents had forced him through cotillion when he was younger and the art of ballroom dancing had not been wasted on him. Tony loved the way he got to twirl you around the dance floor, making you feel like a princess. He enjoyed the way everyone would stare at you as if you were the most beautiful person in the room (because you were, especially in that stunning dress Nat picked out for you). But most of all Tony loved the way he got to look into your eyes as he made you laugh and drew you closer.
Steve Rogers:
Steve was not much of a dancer. Sure he had gone to clubs, and (never, ever tell Tony this but) even took a few lessons throughout the city, but Steve just couldn’t dance. On undercover missions he was actually forbidden from dancing in order to prevent another Johannesburg incident. But in the quiet of you guys’ apartment, whether on a lazy Sunday afternoon or the middle of a Tuesday night, Steve would hold you close as y’all swayed aimlessly. Sometimes you would have the radio playing modern music (from Ed Sheeran to Beyonce), sometimes Steve would be listening to his old records, and sometimes there would be no music at all. Steve would hold you as close as he could and slowly sway around the living room, your head on his chest listening to his steady heartbeat, while he placed soft kisses to the top of your head.
Bucky Barnes:
Bucky loved dancing like he had back in the 40′s. At first his memory was a little hazy but after watching a few videos and trying it out a few times Bucky realized his muscles remembered exactly what to do even if his brain didn’t. Bucky loved the feeling of getting to go somewhere and feel like he fit in. To be perfectly in sync with those around him as he melted into the music with the perfect partner. He loved the chance to impress you with his moves as he spun you around before pulling you in close again, giving you little winks or short kisses on the forehead or nose, before spinning you out again. Bucky also couldn’t deny that he enjoyed the fact that for once when people were staring at him wide eyed and open mouthed they were staring in awe of his skills and in jealousy of the beautiful dame he had with him.
Bruce Banner:
Bruce was hands down the most awkward dancer you had ever seen in your entire life. Every time you guys tried dancing it ended up with your toes being stepped on (and once you even got a bloody nose when Bruce accidentally got off beat during a line dance and his hand hit you square in the face). But for some strange reason Bruce was really good at square dancing. Clint had dragged you guys to square dancing in Bryant Park one day and while Bruce had been reluctant at first he was surprisingly very good. It probably helped that he was getting constant instructions on what to do while also getting to follow what everyone around him as doing. Whatever it was, Bruce was soon taking you to as many square dances as he could find, loving the fact that he was able to take you dancing and NOT have to patch you up afterwards.
Clint Barton:
You name a dance and Clint could do it. He could two-step, waltz, foxtrot, every dance Clint had been trained to do it perfectly, able to blend into any crowd so he could go undercover. But even though he was an expert at every dance and was able to blend into any room of dancers, Clint stood out when he swept you into a tantalizing tango. He would lock his eyes with yours and lead you around the room, other couples jumping out of the way as Clint would twirl you out and bring you back in before sweeping you back so far your hair tickled the ground. If Clint was honest he had never really cared for the tango before he met you, but the old saying “it takes two to tango” had become his favorite line since finding the perfect person he wanted to tango with.
Pietro Maximoff:
Pietro loved club dancing. He loved the fast beats and the vibrations of the floor as he held you close and moved to the rhythm of the music. Pietro also enjoyed getting to hold you close and show you off. His hands would grip your hips as he pressed you close to himself as everyone around you guys shot jealous looks your way. On top of the fast music Pietro loved that he got to hold you body close, allowing him to steal kisses whenever he wanted, not having to wait to press his lips to your forehead, nose, neck, etc. While most people would say that this type of dancing was too impersonal (what with the sweaty strangers around and the music so loud you can’t hear yourself think), but that was one of Pietro’s favorite things, that he didn’t have to think about the lyrics to the music or running into the people around him, he could just get lost in you - your body and eyes and the way you made him feel like he was the luckiest man alive.
Thor Odinson:
Thor loved the traditional ballroom dancing of Asgard. The elegant dresses that his mother would get made for you, made him beam with pride as all of Asgard stared at you with wonder. He loved getting to teach you the elegant dances of his people- happy to be teaching you something for once instead of the other way around. The rich music was just soft enough to let him hear you counting under your breath as you tried to concentrate, only for it to be broken when Thor told you how happy he was that you were here with him. Thor loved getting to show you his world- knowing that one day you would make a wonderful queen.
Loki Laufeyson:
Loki was a very graceful dancer. His slender body was made for grace so when you first met him you would assume he enjoyed the more traditional types of dancing like his brother. However, Loki really loved line dancing. The Cha Cha Slide, the Cupid Shuffle, etc. For someone who usually hated “stupid Midgardian” things Loki always got a kick out of the synchronized dances. You remember the night he made you stay up so you teach him all of them (the furniture in you guys’ apartment being pushed against the walls to give you more room). Loki’s eyes would light up as he scurried to the dance floor to clap his hands and wiggle his shoulders around. After finally asking him one day why he loved it so much Loki admitted that he enjoyed blending in for once and just being in sync with those around him.
Sam Wilson:
Sam liked simple dancing. The slow swaying and shuffles seen at weddings and during slow songs at Tony’s parties. The slow movements allowed him to relax into you, not having to worry about stepping on your toes or running into other couples. And the fact that there was no real rhyme or reason to the motions meant he could focus all of his energy on talking with you. Whether y’all were joking about the people around you (leading to Sam’s favorite feeling of you laughing as you tucked your face into his chest), or you were staring into each other’s eyes as you talked about your own wedding some day. Sam just loved that he got to be with you, physically as well as emotionally and mentally as you shared those moments he would carry with him for the rest of his life.
Scott Lang:
Scott loved to do random dance parties with you- managing to make the most embarrassing dance moves ten times worse. It didn’t matter whether you were at a party with music or shopping in the middle of a crowded target, Scott would take your hand and start “dancing” like a maniac. He would do things like the sprinkler, the lawn mower, the shopping cart, anything you see awkward nerdy people doing in the corner by themselves at parties Scott had perfected as an art. You should be embarrassed but instead you would just jump right in making everyone around you either burst out laughing or look away out of second hand embarrassment. Cassie would pretend to hate it when you guys were in public but as soon as you got home she would join right in.
T’Challa:
T’Challa enjoyed doing the native Wakandan warrior’s dance. It was a complicated dance that looked more like a planned fight with the swift movements that brought your bodies so close, but never quite completely together- it was stunning. It had taken him months to teach you the entire thing but the finished product was worth it. It was a dance that only the Black Panther knew and T’Challa had been taught by his parents when he was growing up so you were very honored to have been taught the dance. While it wasn’t really something you could just show off at a club or one of Tony’s parties, it was something you guys did when hosting parties in Wakanda for fellow government officials. And even though countless people had asked you how to dance the beautiful ritual you knew it was a secret you would share with T’Challa until you had your own children to pass it down to.
~~~

I hope you guys liked them! I tried to make them a little longer to make up for my constant absence!

Also requests are CLOSED… BUT I have gotten a few requests for the soulmate stores so f you guys had any ideas revolving around those (for Clint, Pietro, Loki, Tony, Bruce, Scott, or T’Challa) please send them my way! I would love to hear you guys’ ideas!! Ok love y’all!(:

THE EDGE OF SEVENTEEN TAG
Re-imagine your legacy founder as a teen! Maybe even on prom night?

Well, Bunni isn’t a founder, but she’s like… The founder of my life, so…
This is probably a picture Thaddeus took on some old space station (after getting that sick tat) on one of their rebellious teen runaways.

I was tagged by @kismet-sims && i tag… anyone who wants to! i dunno who hasn’t.. im bad…

Next we have the Cesaire’s new pad, which is also in the Arts Quarter (if you look closely you can see Emma and Lotte’s place next door!).

Why study, when I could write minifics and snippets?

A wall.

Shiro and Ulaz sprinted around a corner and right in front of them… a wall.

Smooth, featureless, twentysome feet high, guardrail at the top of it. Separating the walk they were on – down here – from the walkway they needed to be on – up there

… And Shiro’s jetpack already out of action (that seemed to happen entirely too often. Should get that looked at).

… And (because of course) the armor’s grappling hook already jammed, due to earlier unfortunate circumstances, which had forced it to bear too much weight.

“Shit.” Catching his breath, Shiro chuckled at Ulaz, “So. What’s your jump height?”

“Roughly my own height. More with a running start, but not enough for this.”

Damn. “Yeah, mine’s only about chest-level.” Was a bit of a forlorn hope anyway. Galra were big. Big meant heavy, meant unfavorable strength-to-weight, meant need another plan.

Shiro darted forward to place an experimental hand against the wall. No dice, someone on Team Empire must have been taking notes. Shiro anticipated he’d probably just knock himself out before he managed to melt handholds into this.

God, a fucking wall. They had – Shiro checked his mask display – twelve dovashes, to get where they needed to be. Which meant that in twelve dovashes, one tick, Shiro and Ulaz would have officially been thwarted by one of the oldest, simplest defenses in the history of all civilized society.

“Okay,” he clapped his hands together, pointing them at Ulaz, “back against the wall.”

“What?”

“You, boost me up.” Ulaz was pretty strong, he could probably do it. “Then you,” he double-checked, “wallrun, corner, wallrun.” Shiro pointed to the wall next to them, then to the corner, then to the adjacent source of this trouble. “High as you can get, and I’ll reach down and grab you.”

Ulaz stared, “You think it will work?”

“… Sure. Yeah, Matt and I did it at the Garrison, when we were climbing the outside of the Mess hall. It’s fine.”

Ulaz stood, back planted against the wall, reaching out both hands.

Shiro stepped back. He had maybe three strides worth of a run-up. Cramped but good enough. He stuck his head around the corner. Still clear.

Yeah, it’ll work fine

Then one deep breath. He nodded to Ulaz, and one step – two – three – and Ulaz boosted him up hard enough he felt his spine bend.

It carried him just high enough to close both hands over the top.

Shit, no need to put me into orbit!

What was that? ‘Thank you, Shiro, for getting my boney ass up here?’

Hand over hand, he walked himself sideways until he reached one of the struts, supporting the railing. Then he hiked himself up, got his elbows over the top, and he was there.

Lying on his stomach, he wrapped his right arm around the support (brief visions of it getting ripped off his elbow made that decision), then stretched the other down as far as he could.

“Okay, go.”

Ulaz took it at a run, caught the side wall, then caught the corner, then came across, headed straight for Shiro.

It actually took two tries.

But on the second try (kicking gravity right in the face), palm met forearm and held fast.

And then the yank.

Hero momen– oh fuck!

Shit, don’t let

Good thing Shiro had his other arm anchored, because godfuckingdamn, Ulaz was heavy. Odds were not favorable for pulling him up with one arm (unless he wanted to also throw his own back out) Shiro just grit his teeth and concentrated on holding on, and let Ulaz deal with hauling himself up.

Ack – climb faster – fuck, are you –

You twig – just – hang on –

Shiro owed Matt a(nother) apology.

Ulaz hooked a heel over the edge, then finally he was up. Shiro flopped over like a dead fish, before slowly hauling himself upright. His whole arm was tingling, from aching shoulder all the way down to his buzzing fingers.

Am I lopsided? Shiro, I think I’m lopsided, is one arm longer?

Probably. Come on

Seven dovashes left now. Ulaz pulled Shiro the rest of the way to standing (by the other arm, thank God).

And they were off.

Much, much later (after they’d made it with an entire dovash and a half to spare, thankyouverymuch), safely back at the Castle, Ulaz was doing Shiro the wonderful favor of gently massaging the life back into his shoulder.

Totally uncalled for, to be honest. He hadn’t sprained anything (and if he had, this wouldn’t be right anyway). Sure, it had felt pretty shitty but Ulaz, though heavy, hadn’t actually done any damage. Shiro was fine.

But given the butterfly kisses brushing along the nape of his neck, and given Ulaz’s warm (blessedly warm) hands, fat chance of Shiro mentioning that fact.

I’ve been toying with this idea for a little while, and yesterday I decided I’d finally give it a shot.

But only if you guys want it.

If this post gets 150 notes, I’ll post a survey for y’all to choose a song for me to sing and then I’ll give you a video of me singing it.

If it doesn’t, sorry but no lol. Maybe some other time if I’m ever feeling confident again.

mirandatam  asked:

If you still want prompts - something with Celebrimbor and fiber-crafts? (I'd lean towards humor, but could be angsty if you're more in the mood for that)

The stitching was astonishingly fine, the tapestry’s weave giving way to finely embroidered detail. Celebrimbor could not quite make out the craft of it; the intricacy of the threads was familiar enough, but when he glanced away, the picture seemed to shift, as if the light was changing, events now seen from one angle, now another.

It was his own hand that was raised to inlay the ithildin, the moon glancing down, Narvi gesturing beside him, the holly-saplings by the water with a dark gleam to their leaves. He thought, for a moment, the scent of leaves and stone and clear night air was around him; then the memory left him, and it was only a picture, still upon the wall.

Death was like that. After a moment, he could smile, reaching up to let his fingers hover over Narvi’s woven shoulder, where a heavy-ornamented braid lay crookedly.

“It was a pleasure to weave,” a woman said beside him, her tone fond, and Celebrimbor glanced round. Or directed his attention to her. The body remembered its expressions; he found it difficult to think of himself otherwise.

The woman was at once more solid than him, and less so; she wore her form, but there was something of the veil about it, as the lesser gods, who might carelessly put bodies on and off. He thought her of their kindred, for a moment. Then recognised her.

“How does it work?” he asked, helplessly curious. “Great-grandmother – “

Míriel Þerindë smiled, and set her own fingers to the threads, which rippled at her touch; as if she had dipped them into the pool of the night sky shown there. The moon gleamed as he watched.
