if you want to actually start to end homelessness, you need to give homeless people unconditional homes, including when we use them to do drugs or sit around drinking. either housing is unconditional or it isn’t

someone sitting at home alone, an active alcoholic, squandering your charity, drinking all day is better situation than a street homeless alcoholic. someone using drugs in your charity house is better than them doing the same w no shelter

most of you would not like most street homeless people, I definitely don’t and didn’t when I was street homeless. for every one person who uses unconditional shelter to turn themselves around, someone else will do jack shit and very slowly, if ever, work through the issues that made them homeless, will maybe never be able to live independently. still better than street homelessness, still worth doing. ultimately either you believe that shelter should be universal or you don’t

homeless people actually can’t be rehabilitated if you want to end homelessness. we either affirm the right to shelter for the worst drunken, lying, filthy, cheating, self destructive homeless people that exist, genuinely irredeemable wankers, or we concede that shelter is not a right

I know, you think my generation doesn’t give two fucks about anyone else but themselves. but honestly why should we. everyone we loved left us for someone better, someone with longer legs or bigger bank balances. everyone we respected disappointed us by weaving us in a myriad of lies. everyone we idolised betrayed us. in a generation where everyone is letting everyone down, everyone is too stressed or too anxious, do you except us to care about other people. do you expect us to protect people from drowning when we dont even know how to swim. do you expect us to save lives when we want to end our own. do you expect us to love when our own hearts have been shattered into pieces. do you actually except us to give fucks about anyone but ourselves.

1. Let go of anyone that doesn’t make you feel happy and cut the ties, no matter how good of a friend that person was. If they no longer make you feel good, if they no longer make an effort to stay in contact, make sure to distance yourself. Maybe things will relax in time, maybe they won’t. But don’t waste your time on someone who doesn’t care.
2. Don’t try to run from pain. Don’t shut it out. Face it, cry, scream, throw a pillow at the wall - do whatever makes you feel better, then try to find closure and start over. You can’t outrun pain, it will catch up to you sooner or later.
3. Take care of yourself. You are important. Don’t neglect your own needs because you’re so focused on putting the people you love first.
4. Accept your flaws, your scars and the mistakes you made. Embrace them. They make you who you are.
5. Tell people how you feel about them. I have a hard time taking my own advice, but I know what it’s like to regret not opening up to someone only to be confronted with the situation that you no longer can. There is so much to gain, nothing to lose.
6. Don’t be scared to dream. If there is something you want to do with your life, don’t let someone else’s opinion stop you.
7. Be patient. If I have learned anything this year, it’s that everything moves at its own pace, whether it’s the amount of time your heart needs to heal or the weeks or months or years you need to move on. Small steps, always.
8. Forgive others - and forgive yourself. Forgiving doesn’t equal forgetting, it doesn’t mean that you should accept destructive and abusive behaviour from someone else (or yourself, for that matter). Forgiving sets your soul free. You’ll feel lighter and better.
9. Read more. Books are magical. There is no easier way to escape your own thoughts for a couple of hours than reading.
10. Make time for people you love. Distance means nothing if you keep them close to you in your heart. Talk to them, text them, ask them how they are and what they’ve been up to and also: listen to them. It’s so important to listen.

  • There’s no doubt that he’d be protective if he actually found himself that deep in love. It’d be a passionate protectiveness that (probably) seems controlling but he’s just concerned for your safety.
  • Comes into heavy play when he goes hunting(which is frequently). You’ve gone with him once or twice, and managed to shoot down a few birds to which he was beaming with pride because “I taught her how to do that. That’s my girl.”
    • The funny thing is, the more his relationship progressed with you, the more he found excuses to let you stay home when he went hunting because he was literally so worried that you would be hurt if he took you with him. (Which, you had never been hurt with him before but still, there was always the possibility.)
      • “It’s just a day with LeFou and I.” is usually the most common thing he tells you, and you bought it the first couple of times but after that it became a bit more suspicious.
      • You start holding your ground and tell him that you want to go.
        • He can’t say no to you, which comes in handy with situations like this so before Gaston really knows what’s happening, you’re getting ready to go hunting with him.
          • “It’s just a blur, LeFou. She says she’s going and I can do nothing to stop it even though I’m afraid for her safety. She’s got this sort of…” His nose scrunches in thought, “Spell on me that makes it impossible to say no.”
          • LeFou probably just murmurs to himself, “If she can handle you, she can handle herself hunting.”
  • Who am I kidding he’s probably always worried for your safety and asks if you need to be walked/escorted anywhere.
    • He’ll usually ask it in a subtle way like, “can I come”. It piques your interest, especially when you’re just going to get something from the store a block from your house. 
    • You chuckle quietly, kissing his forehead before saying, “I think I can manage.”
    • He probably just stands there and watches you walk away, his heart beating a bit harder than before. There’s something about you just leaves him completely starstruck. 
      • “It’s almost as if she… She strikes me down like  lightning gracing the Earth.”
        • To which LeFou gags.
          • He’s lowkey jealous and honestly a bit surprised that Gaston has…. Fallen in love.
      • Gaston probably offers his jacket to you whenever yo complain about being cold because he doesn’t want you to get sick. So, if he ever does give you it, you smile gently, wrap your arm around him and continue to where ever you’re going so the both of you are warm because you are also worried about him getting sick(Despite Gaston constantly telling you that he almost never gets sick). (No stress y’all, I’m making headcanons specifically for that.)
  • After some time together, you finally come to realize that LeFou doesn’t like you because he’s got feelings for Gaston himself. 
    • I’m not kidding, there’s no doubt that LeFou is protective over Gaston himself so like? You take it upon yourself to befriend him and you explain, “I love him and I’d never hurt him. Ever. I know you wouldn’t either. Can’t we just put this behind us and try to be friends? For Gaston?”
      • Things do get better, and slowly over time the two of you become the best of friends and tend to gossip every now and then.
  • You know what, while talking about being protective, I see him being exceedingly possessive at times.(Not all the time) More often than not, it happens in the tavern. With people being drunk, they don’t quite realize that they’re staring at Gaston’s girl.
    • Probably notices when someone is looking at you in that way
      • It starts off small and he’ll gives them a glance of warning, a simple, “back off’ sort of stare.
      • If it continues, it escalates. Gaston wraps his arm around you, holds you close, digs his face into your hair if you’re busy with something else. Just to remind you and who ever has your attention that he’s not appreciating the unwanted attention thrown onto you.
        • Gaston knows that you’re not some prize to be won by some drunkard, and so he stays close to you for the rest of the night. If they happen to start talking to you, he’s right on your hip, taking a sip of his drink while he’s focusing all negative energy their way. Of course, it’s something you notice and you lightly brush your fingers along Gaston’s fingers as he’s holding you from behind.
      • If the situation where one of them leans towards you, or subtly touches you while Gason is not near you, there’s always the possibility of extreme measures. Especially if Gaston notices that it’s unwanted(Meaning, you resist or you scoot away from the touch. He’s got a keen eye for this sort of thing). More often than not, it’s small daggers being thrown at them,close enough to pin their jackets to the wall. It happens so fast, it leaves you a bit breathless and a few moments later, Gaston is next to you, digging his daggers out of the wall and growling at the drunkard, “If she wanted you to touch her, she would have said so. No, get out before I personally throw you out.”
  • Binch don’t get me started on jealous Gaston. (JK please do).
    • Jealousy is probably something that happens rarely, considering Gaston is aware how happy you are with him(And call it cocky) he knows that you’re satisfied too. (HAHA in more than one WAY).
    • He gets what I like to call “ugly jealous”. If he notices you chatting it up with someone you’ve known for a while, and you gesture, throwing your head back when you laugh, staring, etc. He’ll get that burning sensation in his chest, watch you carefully to see if you’re flirting or just being friendly(And TBH he’s got no radar for that.He sees being friendly as flirty a lot of the time.)
      • Because he’s probably confused as to which it is, he takes matters into his own hand and doesn’t lash out but will storm his way over there and kiss you flat on the mouth before saying, “I’m sorry I’m late, LeFou—” He looks up and gives whoever you were talking with a rather cynical smile with, “Well, who’s this?”
        You’re left a bit light headed after the kiss and find it hard to speak and so your friend introduces themselves and Gaston feels at ease knowing that they know you’re taken.
        • Don’t get me started on the body language though. Hands on his belt, legs spread slightly, broad shoulders, he needs to make himself seem more appealing than the other. The subtle, dirty smirk as he talks to them. Even the undertone of his voice, which is actually rather husky and needy. 
          • He makes them know that you deserve him and deserve all of him. You’re the only person who deserves him. Gaston simply plays the intimidation card when he’s jealous and has gotten caught doing so many times by you.
    • I’m screaming because he probably likes it when you catch him doing this because Gaston lowkey likes being told off by you? 
    • “You don’t need to do that every time I talk to someone I know. Trust me, Gaston. You’re the only one I love and you don’t need to worry about someone else coming up and snatching me.” you sigh gently, wrapping your arms around his neck and lifting yourself against him so you can kiss his lips softly. He’s happy to respond to the kiss. His lips mesh against yours a bit harder, telling you exactly what he wanted now that he was being scolded. Snuggling his arms around your waist, he now helps you lift against his body. “And you should know better than to do that. It drives me crazy.”
      “I won’t stop doing it, you do know. I want everyone to know that you’re mine and that,” He dips his head and places a rather heated kiss to your collarbone, “I’m yours.”

2. You meet a man who has killed someone and done time for it before. Does this factor into how you treat him? Will he ever truly escape that sin?

3. If you could jump back through time to save a loved one’s life, would you? Despite what it might to do the timeline? To everyone else? Do you believe it is their fate to die regardless?

Discernment Pro Tips

from someone who has been doing it for a hot minute.

With divination in general, whether from yourself or others:

  • If everything you keep using to discern with keeps pointing to no, it’s probably a no.
  • Conversely, if everything keeps pointing to a yes, it’s probably a yes.
  • 99 no’s and one yes doesn’t make a yes.
  • If your answers keep coming back hazy or wishy-washy, there is probably a reason and you should figure that reason out before moving forward.
  • There is nothing wrong with giving a spread to a more experienced diviner and asking for their input on the meaning of the cards.
  • When you ask someone else for input, actually listen to them.
  • Remember that being wrong is not a sin or inherently bad. We’re all wrong sometimes.

Within divination you do yourself:

  • Be aware of confirmation bias. We all have it, and its hard to cut through. Cut through it as best as you can.
  • To counteract the fact that memories can shift and change, it’s better to write down what you think happened before you start to delve into divination or discernment. That way, you won’t inadvertently influence memories or shift things.
  • Use multiple formats of discernment or divination if possible.
  • When in doubt, give it more time. Time is one of the easiest ways to prove if something is legit or not.

With outside divination:

  • If you’re going to get a divination done from an outside source, someone with a proven track record is best.
  • Similarly, getting multiple readings from ppl with proven records is best.
  • You can get a reading from someone without a proven record, but make sure you don’t place all of your weight into that reading.
  • Don’t place all of your weight into any reading. That saying about eggs and baskets is relevant. 
  • Blind readings are always a better bet.
  • Key word: blind. This includes how you phrase your query.
  • “I need to know why my god suddenly hates me” is not a good “blind” query. “I would like to know more about the status of my relationship with my god” or “I would like more insight as to the recent shift in my relationship with my god” is better.
  • Keep in mind that if you’ve placed all of your recent “woo” in a public source, someone can use that to infer information about your situation.
  • If your diviner needs to ask a lot of probing questions before they give you answers, walk away.
  • If your diviner gives you answers, and you tell them that it’s not accurate, which causes them to start bringing out “new information” that diverges from previous answers and wasn’t present before the extra details, walk away.
  • Be careful what information you give after the fact as well. It’s very easy to infer a lot of things simply based off of basic statements. The less information you give, the easier it will be to write the reading off as being accurate and unbiased.

 You watched as Jughead argued with Betty. You didn’t know who side to be on. Betty just wanted to make her boyfriend happy but you knew that this wasn’t the right way. You had been friends with both of them for so long you didn’t know what to do. You weren’t the only one since your brother Archie had the same look on his face as he look at the two. Veronica on the other hand look fine with the situation, she probably had been through this with her parents. The ring of the doorbell interrupted all of your guys thoughts.

“Who else did you invited to this Betty?” Jughead sneered at her not impressed with party at all.

“No one, it was only suppose to be the inner circle” She replied back but as the doors opened your breath got caught in your throat at the sight in front of you. First and foremost was Cheryl and Chuck then behind them was most of the football team and other students from your school. Cheryl smirked as she made her way in.

“Where should we put the keg too?” She asked as everyone cheered. You and Archie sent a look to each other knowing that nothing good was going to come out of this night. It was kinda proven when Jughead pushed his way passed you both to go hide out in the garage. You wonder if you should chased him but you knew it was better to leave him alone to his thoughts. Plus if anything happened to this house you and Archie would be toast.

 It had been hours since the party started and it was getting more hyped as the time went by. People were drinking drink after drink and you were sure if you looked in that keg that there would be nothing left. You figured that it would die down soon since it was getting close to one in the morning but you were proven wrong once again when Cheryl opened her mouth to speak.

“How about we play a game?” Everyone gather into the living room excited to hear what they would be playing. “You know we all have secrets in this house don’t we?” Tons of people nodded at her statement.

“Well how about we spill some of them?” Yours and your friends mouth dropped at what Cheryl wanted to do, she always knew a little too much about everyone. Others in the room didn’t feel shocked what so ever they were all willing to play. Cheryl started to speak, calling out Veronica and her family. Not shying away from any of their feelings towards them but if Cheryl had thought V would say nothing she was dead wrong. Veronica started to imagine what really went on between Jason and her. As you try to hold back a laugh, Cheryl looked a bit stunned not knowing what to say about this possible too much sisterly love.

“My turned now” Chuck announced and he scanned the room, setting his eyes on you for a moment before they landed on Betty. “Why don’t we talk about what Veronica and Betty did to me. More importantly about how Betty has some alternate ego or split personalities. Pretending to be her sister Polly seems like one of them ” Chuck only smirked as he could tell it was getting to Betty even you could see it from across the room. “I’ll tell you one thing Betty or should I say Polly I ain’t Jason, I’m better” You rolled your eyes at his statement, leave it to Chuck to still be the cockys thing ever. It wasn’t like he hadn’t learned his lesson.

“So why don’t we talk about someone else?” Chuck asked not really wanting an answer since he was going to do it anyway. You thought for a moment that Cheryl glance your way but you shook it off since there were so many people here.

“Y/N” Chuck said, making everyone eyes land on you. You tilted your head sideways wondering what Chuck had up his sleeve, trying not to show your discomfort. “Sweet little Andrews” He looked away from you then stared down your brother.

“We talked about Archie love affair so why not talk about yours also”

“What’s he talking about sis?” Archie asked not taking his eyes off of Chuck. You ignored him and went straight to Chuck. Grabbing one of his arms you said

“Don’t do it Chuck. Keep it to yourself” He shrugged you off and continued

“Well you see, your sister isn’t innocent in all of this. Actually I’m surprised you didn’t see her name in the book because she should be in there I put her in there” Archie stood up from his seat quickly taking a seat forward with his fist by his side, ready to hit if needed.

“Slow down there Andrews” Chuck laughed as he put up his hands “I wrote her in there but I’m not the one she slept with. It was-”  You cut him off

“He’s your friend Chuck, don’t do it”

“Friends don’t take each others spot on the team” He huffed and went on “She slept with Mantle, Andrews. Your little sister slept with your enemy.” Gasps were heard throughout the room as the secret was spilled. No one expected it but the football team they knew and now they were all wearing smirks on their face to prove it.

“Is that true?” Archie asked you but you couldn’t meet his eye. You didn’t know if you were embarrassed that it happened or that he found out.

“It wasn’t once either” Cheryl piped which made you send a death glare her way. “You should of came to my parties more often Archie. They always had fun.”

Archie just looked at you with confusion written all over his face. He could tell it was true from the atmosphere in the room, he didn’t need to heard you say it. He just couldn’t believe what you had done. You couldn’t stand being in your house any longer with all of the stares, so you took one finally looked around and went to leave but before you did Chuck spoke up once again.

“Say hi to Mantle for me” He knew that’s where you were going and he wanted everyone else to know.

“Bite me” You shouted before you left. Your hook up was out now and there was nothing to do but only if they knew. Reggie was so much more than a person to get your mind off of things. You loved him and now you were scared of what was going to happen. What would Archie do now knowing that you were sleeping with one of the people he hated. Also how Jughead would react since he was also like your brother and Reggie made it a habit to pick on him. The worse was yet to come.

Reasons why self dx is good from the pov of a professional
  1. Therapists/Specialists are not omnipotent. There are a lot of different mental disorders and disabilities that you could literally study for five years and still don’t know everything about. If you don’t know enough about a condition to see its signs in a person (which many therapists actually don’t because the only thing they really know about illnesses that are less common are the DSM/ICD criteria for it. However, these criteria are not enough for a diagnosis and sometimes even too vague to pick up the signs for an illness in a person. I honestly don’t want to know how many people are misdiagnosed with a common mental condition but actually have a rare one that’s just pretty similar to the common one) than you gonna miss a lot as a therapist. And many therapist do miss a lot.
  2. Therapists are biased. Therapists are only people. Just like normal people, they are not immune against stereotypes and prejudices. Because specialists hardly ever teach you at uni but only in special courses that you have to take in order to specialize as well, we actually learn a lot of stereotypes and prejudices because the people teaching us interpret the information they have in a wrong way because they don’t know more about it. A person who is currently studying to become a therapist needs to be aware of that and do their own research in order to get useful information, however most aren’t even aware of how wrong the things that they’re learning are because they have, like everyone else, the bias to trust people like professors that they actually know a 100% what they’re talking about (even though many actually ADMIT that they don’t know anything about it). This is another bias that’s pretty common in people, widely researched and again not something therapists and specialists are immune to.
    If you, for example, know that autism isn’t common in girls, then you won’t look for it  in girls and are likely to oversee the signs because you think that autism is too rare in girls. And additionally, to recognize autism in girls, a specialist needs to be aware that the symptoms show differently in afab and amab people which again, many “specialists” don’t because that’s not taught in class. You need to teach things like that to yourself or actually specialize on the condition.
  3. Literally every disorder that is known today is still being researched. And probably will not even exist like this in a few years anymore because the research might show that some symptoms are more important than those on the DSM V/ICD 10 that we have right now or they’ll maybe even find out that something that they diagnosed as one condition is actually two conditions (for example, for decades schizoid personality disorder was diagnosed as autism because both conditions create similar symptoms in many points. However, research showed that they differ in very important points and are actually two different conditions. I don’t even want to know how many people were misdiagnosed and mistreated because of that.)
  4. Therapists only have a limited view on their clients. They can’t look inside your head, they can only try to form an image of them by doing a metaphorical puzzle - they  have to look for the small things, the signs and symptoms and put the together in a way that actually makes sense and matches the symptoms of a disorder. If you don’t tell them everything - which you won’t (frankly because you don’t even remember everything when talking to your therapist or because you view some information as useless and don’t give it to your therapist that would actually be vital for the right diagnosis), - you can be sure that there will always be holes in your diagnosis. There will always be something that your therapist won’t take into account. That doesn’t mean that every diagnosis by a professional is wrong, therapists are often right. However, you know yourself better than anyone else. If you realize that you do/feel something that your therapist oversaw, than you are probably right and it might be worth digging into (even though I would advice talking about it with your therapist or someone else who knows you well enough to form an oppinion about it).
  5. Not everyone has access to a mental health specialist. (I should repeat this thirty times so that everyone gets it). Depending on where you life, you might not have enough money to afford a therapy. You might loose your complete health insurance or some of it if you go to a therapist more than three times, even if you’re not diagnosed with a condition (it’s like that in my homecountry). Getting diagnosed or attending a therapist literally makes it easier for people to instutionalize you against your will because speaking up against it gets interpreted as a person “not having insight in their own condition" by neurotypicals (even though they might have last beeen in treatment a deade ago… They don’t care, they say that the said person is insane because they say that they need treatment and when they deny it, it just prooves their point) [you would not believe how many therapists I already met who actually think like this].
    Our society is still hugely biased against mentally ill people. Getting a diagnosis can be expensive or impossible for other reasons. Not in every country you can attend a therapist without getting an official diagnosis (some people might do “off record”-diagnoisis, meaning that they confirm that you have a certain condition but don’t give you a diagnostic paper because they know how this can affect you. However, this highly depends on how the therapist is paid - if they only receive payment for diagnosed conditions, then they have no choice but diagnose you).
  6. Self-dx can be just as accurate and good as professional dx. There are a lot of free ressources all around the internet, libraries and so on that are actually written for professionals. Reading and applying these things is what maks a professional a professional. It’s exactly how you turn into a professional - your professors hand you the ressources, the rest is your own job. It doesn’t make much of a difference if you read all the books that you need for yourself or if you attend courses at college/university. The only difference is that professionals know a lot about other areas of human behavior and thus are better at evaluating how strongly it differs from normal behavior and in which points a person exactly differs. That doesn’t really have a big impact on the diagnostic process though, it’s just important for a general understanding of this weird species we call homo sapiens. If you feel better about it, you can read those ressources, too, but I wouldn’t deem it nesscessary.
  7. Self-dx actually helps improvement. If a person is not able to consult a specialist, it doesn’t really do any good for them to sit around and wait until they have the oportunity to do so (if that ever happens, which is again not the case for everyone). Because mental illnesses/conditions are just like physical ones - if you don’t treat them, they get worse and worse and worse. Mental health issues lead to different neurons firing in the brain, strengthening different synaptic patterns and thus patterns of thinking and behaving. The longer a person uses their synaptic connections, the more intense they become while others that aren’t use weaken. Not intervening means not stopping this process. And depending on how long a person has been following some of those patterns, they might take twice the time to “rewire” themselves or might even be unable to do so ever.
    It is important to treat mental illnesses as soon as possible in order to prevent further damage. Being against self-dx is being against people who don’t have a possibility to get help helping themselves which is frankly the only thing that might save them or give them the chance to live their life how they want to. Knowing about what illness you have is important in order to know how to cope with what. Sometimes it’s even essential to know what you need to cope with in the first place (e.g. my autism diagnosis… I was born autistic and didn’t know that I was autistic. The first thing I had to learn is what exactly makes me different from other people which I couldn’t know because I didn’t even know that I was different. I didn’t know what exactly made me feel bad, what stressed me out, and so on. But finally having a diagnosis, finally knowing what I’m dealing with helped me improve my life a whole damn lot.) 
  8. Self-dx is not a short process. I’ve always known that I wasn’t neurotypical, that’s for sure. However, it took me years to finally figure out which conditions I actually have and which are just results of other conditions I had. In order to do that, I needed to research everything that was somehow related to anything that I could be affected by. Self-dx takes time and extensive screening of information because, guess what, mis-self-diagnosing is just as unhelpful as professional mis-diagnosing. Only that it’s much easier to figure out if you’ve wrongly misdiagnosed yourself and went about it the wrong way than actually getting a specialist to admit that they misdiagnosed you (because therapists actually like to forget that they’re not omnipotent themselves).
  9. No one actually thinks that self-dx should replace professional-dx. Nobody actually wants to deny that professional diagnosis are valid by self-dxing. They don’t want to make fun of a disorder or “try to be edgy by having a mental condition”. Just like od-people don’t have the condition to be cool or edgy. The only difference is that od-people have a sheeet of paper that a human signed and that is saying “you have this disorder, congratulations, here is why I know”.
  10. Neurodivergent people actually know that they are neurodivergent! Everyone who has been diagnosed with anything later in life that they actually had since they were little should understand that not the diagnosis makes you have a condition but that actually having a condition gets you your diagnosis. Everyone remembers signs and symptoms they showed prior to their diagnosis. And it’s the same for self-dx people. Only because they didn’t have the chance to get a professional to check their claim, it doesn’t mean that they never noticed that they are mentally ill or in which ways they are. Neurodivergent people are not dumb. They actually know that they’re not neurotypical. So of course they start to look for an explanation, for a label in order to understand what they’re dealing with! And who are you to decide if the label they picked is right or wrong? You don’t know them. And even if it’s wrong… than they will definitely notice and not stick with it becaue “this condition is so much cooler than the one I actually have omg like autism is far more edgy than bpd”. Nobody who seriously self-diagnosed would say anything like that because that’s not the resaon you put so much effort in your self-diagnosis!! It’s because you want to know what’s going on with you and how to cope with it.
    (Being against self dx is actually further pushing the narrative that neurodivergent people don’t know that they aren’t neurotypical which is frankly such a harmful and toxic rethoric that is used against everyone who says that they’re mentally ill [because how bad can it be if you notice, right?] and those who have made enough progress that they wouldn’t consider themselves ill anymore [e.g. instutionalization, as mentioned above]. What is even worse about the rethoric is that in order to get diagnosed [and to diagnose yourself], you have to actually notice how the condition influences your quality of life. If it doesn’t have any impact on that, then you aren’t considered mentally ill. You probably all see now how this is actually the opposite of the rethoric that many people still push and believe in)

Once you got a grip of yourself, you made your way back outside to the party. You avoided Yoongi for the rest of the night, busying yourself talking to anyone but him. Part of you wanted to demand to know why he always had to hurt you, and what you had ever done to deserve it. Another part of you wanted to crawl under the covers of your bed and cry while eating ice cream. Neither were options at the moment, so you settled for evasion. Not that Yoongi was making that very easy, he kept trying to talk to you. He would catch your elbow and ask if he could have a minute, and you would blow him off every time.

“I’m busy.” You said for what had to be the tenth time that night.

“You’re really not, this time. Please, can you just tell me what’s going on with you?” Yoongi pleaded. His eyes looked genuine, and you realized that all the smiles and laughter from the previous day must have been all a show—maybe so it would all hurt that much more when it was over. You guessed you should have known, from the day you first met Namjoon for lunch you had seen that Yoongi was a good actor. In the back of your mind, a little voice was saying that it was your fault for blackmailing him in the first place, because who wouldn’t want revenge in some way after that?

“Nothing is ‘going on’ with me. Don’t you have someone else you can bother?”

Yoongi’s eyes flashed with hurt, and he dropped the hand that was holding your arm. “I don’t get it, what did I do?”

You let out a sigh of frustration. “I said we would talk later.”

You could see the beginnings of annoyance on Yoongi’s face, which just furthered your own. He was the one who was always going out of his way to hurt you, but you don’t want to talk to him for once and he gets his feelings hurt? It wasn’t fair, none of it was, and you realized you didn’t even have anyone to talk to about it. The only person who knew your whole situation with Yoongi was Jackson, and he had left abruptly several hours earlier. He said something about getting an urgent phone call and ran off before you ever got a chance to talk to him.

Taehyung was waving to you, and you walked over to where he sat slightly reluctantly. He was holding his cat, the one he twisted his ankle rescuing, kissing its head before looking back at you. “What’d he do?” He asked. You weren’t particularly happy with Taehyung at the moment either, as long as he had known you (and your mother) you felt like he should have known better than to repeat what Yoongi said to your mother, but you knew that it must have been an accident. Your mother was good at getting exactly whatever information she wanted out of someone, and if Taehyung hadn’t given it to her, someone else would have eventually.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” You said tersely. Taehyung rolled his eyes at you, scratching behind the cat’s ears.

“You look like you want to punch Yoongi every time you look at him.”

“You know what, Taehyung? Our relationship really isn’t any of your business. In fact, it isn’t any of anyone’s business, so I don’t know why everyone has to know everything about it all of the time.”

“You’re mad at Yoongi, not me, remember?” Taehyung raised his eyebrows.

“No, I’m mad at everyone who seems to think they have some right to know everything about my life. I shouldn’t have to justify everything I do to everyone I know.” Maybe some of your anger was misplaced, but you couldn’t be bothered to care at the moment. You turned on your heals and walked away from where a completely bewildered Taehyung sat. You didn’t bother to talk to anyone you passed by, ignoring their attempts to gain your attention. You passed Jungkook walking up the stairs to go inside, and he caught your eye for a moment.

“Are you okay?”

“I wish people would stop fucking asking me that.” You snapped as you walked passed him.


The bedroom door clicked behind Yoongi, but he didn’t move further into the room. The party had finally ended, and you still weren’t talking to him. He had decided that maybe he should just let you have your space, but you still had to share a room.

You were on your phone when he walked in, and looked up briefly to scoff and roll your eyes before turning your eyes back to the screen.

“Look, if I did something, you have to talk to me. Just being angry isn’t going to fix anything.” He said, trying to contain his own annoyance. You were being a child, and he really didn’t have the patience for it right then.

“Right, like that would do any good. You just want to hear how miserable I am. You’re a fucking sadist.”

The problem with Dan's Insta

And no, I don’t mean what he posts. I mean what people post ON his photos.

Remember guys, Dan has this instagram for himself. And what he posts is what he feels and likes and wants to share.

It’s also true, that with every personal account someone has, that we don’t know all the things going on in their lives. But that doesn’t mean it’s okay to pry or assume.

Assuming is one of the biggest faults we have, admit it. We freak out over implications. We’re humans, we do that.

But it’s a rude thing to go to someone’s personal post and ask about a personal topic. The reason why Dan keeps ladies in his life out of the spotlight is because he cares about them and doesn’t want them to be assumed for being his girlfriends or people from stories he changed names of.

Going to his post, and asking him if the two girls are the two ladies who invited him to an orgy, do you really think he’d wanna answer that? On instagram no less?

That’s like going up to someone and their sister and asking if they banged.

It’s PERSONAL. And even then, what if they are? We don’t know them. That being said, you could be getting them confused with a totally different couple! The possibilities are endless.

My point is, yes Dan Avidan is a 38 year old guy who’s been around comment sections before. But even with his experience, his friends (who btw he also said were FRIENDS. And nothing else) are HIS friends, not ours.

We should be setting a better example for others, by not asking uncomfortable and personal questions out in the open like that. If he were to say it out loud, THEN it’d be okay. Just don’t assume that the ladies in the photo are the lesbian couple. It’s rude and really uncomfortable to ask.

Because that script tease got me thinking.

It seems they’ve done this for ages, planning and then splitting up in the middle of Main Street, going their separate ways on one mission or another. When he allows himself to truly think about it he’s stunned at how quickly it’s happened - there was no slow slide into this life in Storybrooke, no gradual build into their current mode of operation. He was thrown into it but none if it felt sudden; he slipped so easily into the role he’d scarcely realized how abruptly he’d arrived there.

He doesn’t regret a bit of it. Especially not with Emma at his side, though he is forced to part with her on this particular occasion. It’s just another piece of the puzzle, just another way they work together, and the knowledge that they’ll both retire to the same home, the same bed at the end of the evening makes it that much easier.

Truth be told, he likes it. He likes being useful, enjoys righting wrongs in a way that scratches the itch he felt as a young lieutenant, finally stepping into the shoes of the man he so desperately wishes to be. He feels he’s slowly getting there, an admission he hasn’t yet made to Emma - he plans on doing so soon, but it’s a strange thing, to have something driving him that isn’t directly related to his love for her, to want to be better for himself rather than someone else. He hadn’t realized it until he apologized to Belle, played back his words to her in his head over and over.

Perhaps he should speak to the Cricket after all.

Despite all that it’s still Emma, always Emma at the end of the day who truly centers him, and he steps away from her knowing they’ll be wrapped around each other soon enough, sweet and warm between their sheets.

“Hook,” she says, just as he’s stepping away.

When he turns back to face her he’s fighting a smile; she always refers to him by his more colorful moniker in front of others. He much prefers how she addresses him in private, loves the sound of “Killian” on her lips.

“You forgot something.”

He can feel his eyebrow going up despite his best efforts. “What’s that?”

She doesn’t answer, not with words, but her sly smile reveals her intentions as she steps in close, her hands reaching for his lapels as she leans in close and presses her lips to his.

He sighs into her mouth, tilting his head but not daring to push things farther, not with her father a few feet away. But it’s yet another thing he’s so quickly grown used to, a sweet well-wishing from his beloved before undertaking a mission and he’s not about to let the chance pass him by. It’s so easy to get lost in, the warmth of her lips and the press of her palms against his chest.

She pulls away first but doesn’t go far, her lips against his while she smiles, her “There we go” sounding incredibly satisfied.

His grin mirrors hers. “How could I forget?”

  • Your boyfriend, having women like the biggest part of his fanbase, announced a campain on his Tripter account, asking his fans to write on a paper all the abusive and objectifying things they heard from bosses or male co-workers and post a photo, the hashtag made a huge success and he posted on his own account a photo  of you holding your own paper with what you heard.
  • His fans, being the stalkers they are, soon find out where you worked, they gave bad reviews to the company all over social media and threat boycotting the company, they would take the bad reviews once the guy was fired. And that was exactly what happened.
  • You had no idea his fans could be so supportive to you, and you made sure to thank all of them through a video he also posted. “Zen is an awesome person who wants to make all the women in his life acknowledge their own strength.  Thank you all so much!”

Yoosung

  • He was aware of this new boss being a douch, you would always trash talk the guy when you’d come home.
  • But it was mainly things related to work. But then he heard this: “And you should hear what he talked about my skirt, Yoosung! Really…” “What did he say about your skirt, MC?”
  • “Hum? Oh, something like ‘you keep coming dressed like that and I won’t take responsibility on what I’m going to do with you, foxy’ ugh… such a douch, right?”
  • Douch wasn’t really the word he was thinking, and your bluntness about that was… pretty concerning. “MC, we had a seminar at college about sexual harassment last month, you do realize that what he did to you is a crime, right?”
  • You sighed deeply. “Yes, I’m aware of it. But what can I do? He’s my boss! You know what happens with girls that make a report? They lose their job, some bosses are bad enough to make sure they never find a job on similar companies… it’s fucked up as it is, there’s nothing I can do except trying to be away, and I swear I’m trying, okay? Don’t worry!”
  • But he did worry. How could he not? You wouldn’t be able to keep the guy away forever and… oh, he didn’t even dare to imagine that, just thinking about it made his blood boil.
  • Hell hath no fury like a Yoosung protecting MC! He had to make sure you wouldn’t suffer any retaliation, so he send anonymous reports to the HR’s company telling he knew there was a potential rapist working there, and if they didn’t something about it, he would go to the press.
  • When they apparently didn’t take it seriously, he sent what he knew to some shitty tabloid, who actually accused the guy directly of being a rapist. It didn’t have any credibility, but having the company’s name associated to such a low publication like that… there is such a thing like bad publicity, indeed!
  • The guy was fired after all, Yoosung never told you that he was the responsible for it, and you never told him you knew he did that. It wasn’t really necessary keep talking about this when you’re too busy being happy.

Jaehee

  • She’s a woman too, she knows how to recognize the signs of a girl uncomfortable over something like this
  • The shame after being cat called on the street, the concerning about wearing some clothes thinking how they can be used as an excuse if something happens to you, the embarrassment, the guilty… even if it’s not your fault?
  • Jumin Han had a lot of problems about boundaries when she used to work for him, but he was always respectful and intimidating enough not to let anybody even try something with her, who knew one day she would feel bad that you hadn’t the same luck as her?
  • But you have someone even better! An amazing girlfriend who happens to be a black belt in judo and can teach you some personal defense techniques!
  • And if it wasn’t enough, maybe you should consider changing jobs? “But, Jaehee… what if I’m not good at anything else? At least I’m kinda successful there, I don’t know if I’m good enough to… start all over again…”
  • “And do you think I was 100% sure about leaving C & R and starting my own business? Of course I wasn’t, MC! But I had to take the risk…”
  • “I don’t know if I’m brave as you are, Jaehee…” “Well, a very wise woman told me once that it’s not about money, you have to pursue happiness.” “She sounds kinda naïve…” she giggled “You said that, MC!” “Oh, right… yeah, I’m pretty naïve, maybe that’s why this guy keeps coming to me…”
  • “Stop right there! It’s nothing about you, MC! This man is a jerk! And the way I see it, you are unhappy there, so get out! You’re smart, you’re talented, you will find something that suits you pretty soon.”
  • And a few weeks later, you were starting as a barista at her cafe. And you didn’t have a boss, you had a partner, how cool is that?
  • But you couldn’t stop worrying about other girls that worked there, so you made a formal complaint, endorsed by other women who worked there, most of them secretaries Jaehee kept contact with, she knew this could be useful eventually.

Jumin

  • You didn’t tell him, you were scared because you knew what kind of things he could do.
  • He would, idk, buy the company and make you president of it and the guy your secretary. Yes, this was exactly what he would do! And it would be so weird and senseless…
  • But you couldn’t control the gossip on his own company, he overheard some employees talking about that guy who used to work at C & R and got promoted at the company you were working.
  • He remembered the guy, he had to come to press telling C &R wouldn’t condone with women being disrespected and the guy was withdrawn for undetermined time, Jumin didn’t even know he quit during this time and was  already working somewhere.
  • He didn’t think nothing like this would ever happen to you, but he was curious and casually asked about it. “W-why do you ask?” your voice broke as soon as you opened your mouth.
  • “Nothing in particular… I was just curious, do you know him?” “Yeah, we’re at the same department.” “He is your co-worker, then?” “More like my boss…” Hmmm…
  • “MC, is there something I should know?” “N-no?” “MC…” how did he do that? He was collected and calm, his voice was monotone, he wasn’t doing anything rather than saying your name, yet you felt like he could see right through you…
  • “Jumin, I… I don’t want to talk about it…” you didn’t need to “As you wish, MC.”
  • The next day, you went to work and just saw the guy’s room empty. “Have you heard? He got fired and left the country. They say they found some things about him on his previous job at C & R…” one of your colleagues said, you definitely didn’t want to know what those things were.
  • Jumin made the HR department strict their criteria on hiring, he could never let a guy like this enter at his company again and treat the female employees like that. Oh, he did the same with the new company he bought, the one you worked (but no, he didn’t made you the president, much to your relief)

  • You’ve been acting weird ever since you came back from work, you were quiet and he could swear he heard you crying in the shower, this was bad…
  • What could it be that bad that you wouldn’t even talk to him? He needed to know, he needed to help you!
  • He knew violating your privacy once more was wrong, but seeing you like this was breaking his heart, so he hacked your phone.
  • And what he found made him almost punch one of his precious computers, those gross texts from that guy along with a dick pic… that was awful!
  • And when he remembered this guy was the one you’ve been talking about, that weird dude who just got promoted. Saeyoung lost it!
  • “Don’t be mad at me, please, but I hacked into your phone and I saw the texts. Why didn’t you tell me?” “I… was afraid and ashamed, how would you react if I told you my boss sent me a photo of his dick?” “I would be pissed at him, not at you!” he hugged you and comforted you “I’ll make him pay!”
  • “No, Saeyoung, NO! I don’t want to lose my job!” “Hey, he won’t know it was you, don’t worry… we have to do something, MC, today it’s just a dick pic, tomorrow he can be much more direct, you know what I mean?” both of you were sick just to think about this…
  • So Saeyoung just sent the conversation to a person in a higher position than the guy, along with a threat: “If you don’t do something about this, I swear I’ll let everybody know about those contracts” and he sent a copy of what else he found.
  • Next day, the guy was fired, and you got his job. Saeyoung swore he had nothing to do with that and he had proof! He showed you the emails your superiors exchanged talking about how you should have been the one promoted at the first place.

Saeran

  • He knew something was off. You were acting as gloomy and distant a… well, himself.
  • He couldn’t ask you, he was afraid he might be invading your personal space or something like this.
  • But this was torturing him, you were coming from work sadder and sadder everyday.
  • So ironically, he invaded your personal space and followed you to work.
  • Only to find your boss touching your hair, his eyes rovering through your body, and what’s more agonizing: your uncomfortable expression.
  • He didn’t even think, he just caught himself over the guy punching him. “Saeran, stop it! Please!” you cried.
  • “Don’t you see she does not like it? Or you actually enjoy she’s not liking it, you fucking creep!?”
  • “Saeran…” your voice took him aback, he promised he would never let you see this side of him again, but just remembering your uncomfortable face made him see red… he tried to calm down.
  • “I’ll tell you what, asshole. If you don’t quit right now, I’ll make sure to erase this company from internet. I want to see what kind of business survives these days if they can’t be found on Google. Don’t think I won’t wreck this just like I did o your gross face!”
  • “Saeran, don’t do that…” “You are smart and competent enough to find another job wherever you please, MC. But I won’t let this guy stay in the same place with you, so It’s his choice…”
  • “Fuck this! You’re not even that hot, and your boyfriend is a freak! I’m out of this!” “Wise choice, and you’re half right on there, buddy. She is that hot, she is the hottest, actually, and yes, I’m a freak! A freak who will fucking whoop your ass if you don’t get the fuck out of here right now!” the dude went away, letting a trail of blood from his face.
  • “I’m sorry if I scared you now, it’s just… I can’t stay still letting someone treat you like this. I hope you don’t lose your job because of me…” “I’ll be fine as long as I have you” and you hugged him, he was so relieved you could not see him blushing right now.

  • He overheard a conversation between you and probably one of your co-workers.
  • “Yes, he tried to make a move on me again! Yeah, I keep telling him I have a boyfriend, but he doesn’t care, he said he’s the boss and I got to do what he says! I… I don’t know, but I’m pretty scared right now…”
  • He’s so mad, but in front of you he just smiles bluntly. So you two keep at that, both of you know something is really wrong, and just keep smiling trying not to worry each other.
  • But he won’t stay still knowing something bad can happen to you anytime. However, he’s really smooth.
  • So when he stopped by your work to bring you lunch, everybody liked him, even your boss, who invited him to a drink at his office.
  • “You’re the only man in your department, I suppose…” “Yeah, but it’s not as great as it looks, most of these girls are ugly, and the only decent one is pretty dumb, but hey, these are the best type, right?”
  • “I wouldn’t know, I can’t really see.” “Oh, sorry, dude. But yeah, there’s a girl here who’s very hot, but she plays hard to get, you know? It’s only a matter of time, wait and see.”
  • “I already told you I can’t really see.” His voice was low. “But there’s something here you don’t really need eyes to see. That very hot girl is not into you and she has a boyfriend, and you are a sexist jerk who’ll step away from her and from any other girl who works here if you know what’s best for you.”
  • “Or what?” V moved fast, placing his cane against the guy’s balls “Or else I’ll destroy these, since they are the only thing that you can count on to feel superior. Don’t test me.” And he got out of the office, letting the guy squirm in pain.
  • You never knew what made the guy finally back away, but deep inside you knew it had something to do with that day. He never denied or confirmed either.

If you don't mind me asking, what do you think I should know about bpd (and anything else you have, because a lot of people seem to have multiple diagnoses)? Like the basics of what it is, how I can be an ally, and how I can be a good friend if I meet a borderline irl? firstly, being in a system is neurodivergent. you sort of separated the two, idk if u meant to do that.

i think u what should know is that borderlines are people too. people love to condemn us and say we’re manipulative, abusive. in reality, a lot of borderlines have high empathy for others (to the point where it hurts us if we see someone else in pain). we’re not bad people by default.

even doctors and psychiatrists call us abusive and manipulative. the belief actually comes from them. back when bpd was first coined as a disorder, it was seen as “the borderline between psychosis and non-psychosis” hence the name borderline. doctors back then couldn’t understand why borderlines kept ending up back at hospitals treatment after treatment, how we were so driven by emotion, why regular therapy would not work. they concluded that borderlines were manipulative, sought attention, and were on the borderline of psychosis and non-psychosis, deeming us “hard to deal with.”

ive heard so many stories about borderlines being treated extremely negatively back then, to the point where doctors and psychiatrists would give up on their cases, tell them they were unfixable and manipulative. if they wanted help, they wouldve worked for it by now.

thing is, borderlines don’t respond to cbt/talk therapy. psychiatrists failed to see that we weren’t failing on purpose. their treatment was not up to par. from the cbt i’ve worked with, ive noticed that cbt assumes one has a stable identity and is always aware of themselves. borderlines are not.

dbt was created by marsha linehan. dialectical behavior therapy was made specifically for borderlines. it combines elements of cbt, behavioral science, and zen buddhism. and serious…this stuff is amazing. it works. dbt is split up into four modules: mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and emotional regulation.

mindfulness is the teaching of always constantly checking if youre in the present. it is by far the hardest module to master, but it’s extremely rewarding once you understand it.

interpersonal effectiveness is on interpersonal relationships. y’know, because abandonment.

distress tolerance teaches you what to do in a crisis. and it isn’t cbt crap docs hand you and expect you to master in a day. whereas cbt tells you “just breathe, count to ten” when you’re distressed, distress tolerance teaches you three steps: distract, relax, and cope. distract yourself from the situation, relax using your five senses, and cope with the situation by weighing the pros and cons. i use this nearly everyday.

emotional regulation teaches you to do the opposite of what your negative emotions tell you. it teaches you that you are more than your emotions. while you may not be able to control them, you can certainly stop the snowball effect of emotions that trigger thoughts, which then trigger more complex emotions, and more complex thoughts, and so forth.

being a good borderline ally is simple: dont spread needless hate about our disorder, don’t infiltrate our spaces, and advocate for fair treatment.

if you meet a borderline in real life and you are even just a smidgen nice to them, congratulations: that borderline is your new friend. also in retrospect, don’t be mean to them. they will hate you very much.

if you ever become the fp of a borderline, always try to be there for them when they need you. encourage them to talk to you about their emotions. some borderlines are quiet and won’t talk about their negative emotions, even if it hurts.

also, they are constantly afraid of you abandoning them, it is a constant fear. reassure them as often as you can that you do not have plans to. also, don’t ever tell them they’re a handful, or “a lot,” even in a joking manner. they most likely have heard so many borderlines like them being called “abusive” and will wonder if “they are too,” because of their emotions.

well, that’s what i have to say. i might do another thing like this on systems. maybe. depends.

“I’m so glad you agreed to be my maid of honor,” Emma said to Regina.
“I’m still unsure as to what I’m supposed to be doing,” Regina replied, “especially since we’re now doing this today.”
Emma shrugged. “Just be here for me?”
Regina saw the nervousness in Emma’s eyes. She gave her a reassuring smile. “Of course, dear.”
Emma’s face lit up with a huge smile. “Thanks, Regina. I knew I could count on you.”
Snow burst through the door at that moment, barely able to contain herself. “Okay! We only have a few hours until the wedding!” She was carrying a large black bag.
“Mom? What is that?” Emma asked.
“Well I knew you might be busy with other things so I went ahead and picked up a wedding dress,” Snow told her. “David is getting Killian’s suit, because I’m trusting him with the job.”
“Oh, you didn’t have to do that,” Emma said, “I could’ve gone with Regina.”
“Nonsense,” Snow replied, waving Emma off, “no need to worry you on your special day!” Snow moved to unzip the bag.
Regina got up from her position on the couch in Emma’s living room to assist her. There was… a lot. Just a lot.
“Are people even going to be able to see Emma?” Regina asked, trying to take the whole dress in.
“Hush,” Snow scolded lightly, “it’s a dress fit for a princess.”
Regina noticed Emma shifting uncomfortably out of the corner of her eye.
“It looks great, Mom,” Emma said, though Regina could hear slight disappointment in her voice.
“I’m just so happy for you!” Snow practically squealed. “This is all me and your father have ever wanted for you. Your very own happy ending.”
“I would argue it’s more of a beginning,” Regina said. “She does have a life ahead of her with the pirate.”
Snow gave her a look, “you know what I mean.” Snow held Emma by the shoulders. “Now, I’m off to speak to Granny about catering. And your father found a bigger venue, as promised.” With that, she said her quick goodbyes, leaving instructions for Regina to help Emma with her hair and make-up.
“You really don’t have to,” Emma told her after Snow had gone.
“I don’t mind,” Regina said. “Shall we?”
The two ascended the staircase toward the ensuite bathroom connected to Emma’s room. Emma sat down in a chair, while Regina assessed the situation.
“You looked quite wonderful while we were in Camelot,” Regina mentioned, trying to seem casual, “would you like something like that?”
Emma merely nodded, seemingly lost in her own thoughts.
“Are you alright?”
Emma closed her eyes and sighed before opening them, making eye contact with Regina though the mirror’s reflection. “Why am I not excited?”
“Are you nervous?” Regina asked, slightly taken aback by Emma’s sudden candor.
“It’s more a feeling of I’d rather be spending a day with you and Henry than getting married,” Emma confessed.
“Well spending time with me and Henry seems like something you’d do to distract yourself,” Regina said, “you’re probably just nervous and we seem like the safe option.”
Emma turned to look Regina in the eye. “I’ve been trying to get excited about this proposal ever since I found the ring in his chest of things,” she said. “Before he got home, I sat on the floor hyperventilating for an hour.”
“It’s a big step-”
“I know!” Emma exclaimed in frustration, suddenly getting up from the chair. “But this is everything my parents want for me, so why am I not as excited as they are?”
Regina remained silent for a few moments to collect her thoughts. “This is what your parents want, but is this what you want?”
“I mean, I don’t know!” Emma said. “I thought so. He loves me and I’m not really going to get that anywhere else in this town. I have to hold onto what I can get.”
Regina was starting to understand. Emma had been through so many foster homes, but none ever bothered to make her stay permanent. She was never a part of a family for very long. This marriage, for her, was a guaranteed family because she was doing what was seemingly expected of her. If she did the right thing, she could stay.
“But do you love him?” Regina whispered, putting a hand on Emma’s shoulder.
“Enough. I love him enough,” Emma said, looking down at her hands on her lap.
“Your parents won’t love you any less if you decide this isn’t what you want. You know that, right?” Regina told her. Emma, sweet Emma, was going to marry a man for her parents’ sake. Regina couldn’t let that happen. Not to Emma, not to anyone. Not again. “You are allowed to make your own choices.”
“What if they don’t like my choices?” Emma asked quietly.
Regina brushed Emma’s hair behind her ear. “Emma, they’d be silly not to take your side. You’re their daughter and they love you.” Regina saw a blush creeping over Emma’s cheeks.
“What if they don’t like one specific choice I wanted to make?” Emma asked.
“What? Not wanting to marry Hook?” Regina asked.
“Wanting to be with someone else,” Emma said.
“I think Snow White and Prince Charming would be delighted no matter who their daughter ended up with,” Regina told her.
Emma pulled away and went back to staring at herself in the mirror. “What if the person I want to be with didn’t approve?”
“Then he’d be an idiot,” Regina said firmly, much more passionately than she’d anticipated. “He’d be an absolute idiot, because you’re… well, you’re Emma. Beautiful, brave, strong, confident, and a great mother.”
Their eyes locked through the reflection again, both women looking at each other in wonder. Regina was the first to break, clearing her throat.
“So how would you like to proceed?” Regina asked, fiddling with a brush.
Emma stood up and gently took the brush from Regina’s hands, setting it back down on the counter. “Regina?”
Regina looked up, meeting those beautiful green eyes. “Yes?”
“Why do you dislike Hook?” Emma asked.
“You’re too good for him,” Regina said.
“And? Anything else?”
“I just… he… you… you deserve to be with someone you actually love. You shouldn’t marry someone just because your parents want you to, just because Hook wants you to, and certainly not because the town wants you to. You should follow your heart.”
During Regina’s speech, Emma seemed to have drifted closer. “Should I follow it right now?”
“The sooner the better, I supposed,” Regina breathed, mere inches away from Emma.
Emma bit her lip in contemplation before leaning in and kissing Regina softly, holding gently onto her waist.
Regina was slightly surprised, but quickly recovered and returned the kiss eagerly.
When the kiss broke Emma leaned her forehead onto Regina’s and asked quietly, “what does this mean?”
“Whatever you want it to mean,” Regina told her. “It could mean nothing and you can continue to marry the pirate, or it could mean something and… we could move forward.”
Emma held Regina firmly, kissing her again with determination. “Does that answer your question?”
Regina chuckled. “It seems that it does.”
“I can’t marry him, because I’m in love with you,” Emma confessed, “and I think I have been for a long time. So,” Emma pulled back, “Regina Mills, will you go on a date with me?”
Regina laughed, “of course, but first you have to tell Hook. I won’t be a secret and I won’t treat him like that.”
Emma nodded. “You’re right. See you when the commotion dies down?” Emma asked, heading toward the door.
“See you when the commotion dies down.”
Emma smiled and exited the bathroom and out of her house. Regina knew she would probably go to Hook first and then her parents. She thought about going with her for support, but she knew this was something Emma had to do on her own. It would all be worth it in the end. The possibilities were endless and while Regina knew it wouldn’t be easy, she knew it would be worth it. Emma was worth it.
