If you could cast anyone as Clark Kent/Superman, who would it be?
Honestly I loved Brandon Routh as Superman. I felt like he fit the role extremely well, even though he was Superman in not a great movie. TBH I can’t really think of anyone who looked the part more (at least that’s acting now)
Actually I already have that fanfic favorited and I follow the author on tumblr, somekindofacosmonaut! I have yet to read the story because I’ve been busy or obsessing over DA Origins once again but I’m going to very soon.
Thank you for the submission though, I’m glad this story is getting seen!
When it comes to stories, do you prefer magic/fantasy or science fiction? This is a tough one, partially because which one I prefer ebbs and flows depending on how I feel and/or what I’ve been reading lately. So like sometimes I want the hardest of hard sci-fi but other times I want a Dragonlance book. Right now I’m more into fantasy (though I recently read The Martian, and it was wonderful hard sci-fi). But really we need more wizards-in-space stories.
Favorite super hero, and why? This is a super tough question, because I like so many so I’ll just have to give you those. Nightwing because he got me back into comics in college. Green Lantern because Sinestro Corps War and Blackest Night were two of the best event books I’ve read. Original Mayday Parker Spider-Girl because it was basically a spin-off of the Spidey Clone Saga, which despite its detractors also introduced another favorite: Ben Reilly’s Scarlet Spider. Cool design, could have had a really great story if they didn’t over do it.
What room do you imagine is in the TARDIS that we’ve never heard about in the show? I think there’s got to be a vault in the TARDIS that’s locked away from all the companions (and perhaps even the Doctor) that is just filled to the brim with works of art and literature that should no longer exist because of the Doctor’s time meddling but have been preserved by the TARDIS. So like a Pete Best Beatles album or Stanley Kubrick’s Napoleon movie.
Baby names? As I told my cousin recently (because of Madbum’s World Series performance) Madison is a good boy’s or girl’s name. But really it’s hard to get a name that works with my one syllable last name and it’s not some I think too hard about (especially since I don’t see it becoming an issue for a long, long time if ever).
Earliest book you remember loving? Probably the Phantom Tollbooth.
MY OWN QUESTION: You have the opportunity to own a new expansion team for any sport. What sport/league, what is the team name/mascot, what city do they play in, and what would be a spectator chant? Baseball, playing for the National League. Just outside of Boston in Salem, MA (because Boston, like LA, NYC, the SF bay area, or Chicago, could easily support two teams). The team would be the Salem Witches, the mascot would be a black cat with a pointy wizard’s cap, and the fans would yell “more weight” at opposing teams. I would probably switch my allegiance from the Giants in a heartbeat if such a team existed.
When my mum used to say “I’m coming up to your room - it better be clean!” I just used to sweep stuff under my bed and pull the covers down over the side so you couldn’t see stuff was under there, thus creating the illusion of a clean room. Try it.
my mom used to tell me to eat my vegetables so one night I hid my broccoli in a glass of milk thus creating the illusion of no broccoli
this backfired spectacularly when I was told to drink my milk
Difficult one. Twist and shout might be ni the list but Im not sure if it counts as a book, so I’ll go with what I’m reading right now - HouseofLeaves(three words, four links; just to keep the spirit of the book around).
do you mind explaining what your posts about steve rogers being a Nazi are about? I'm not currently reading any Captain America title so feel free to spoil at will.
Since both you and @taquitobrown asked me this question, I’ll answer it as best as I can.
So apparently Steve’s mom was a hydra agent and brought him up as a Hydra sleeper agent. The last page of Captain America: Steve Rogers even features him saying heil hydra! Granted, this is an issue that comes out tomorrow and most of the stuff surrounding it could have explanation, but many people are upset about it, especially jewish fans (as Captain America was a jewish creation created to battle the Nazis when America irl wouldn’t). What’s more, others are upset that Marvel deliberately did such a colossal mistake/controversy just to block out DC’s Rebirth talk, as both issues are coming out tomorrow.
My understanding is that most media watchers believe it was at least partly the awful title that kept people away from the movie. So now it’s being titled “Live. Die. Repeat” or a combination of that and the original title. To be honest it’s a lot more straightforward with the new title.
To be honest, though, I don’t think it’s like Dredd or John Carter; a different marketing approach probably wouldn’t have saved the movie from underperforming at the box office. I mean Tom Cruise has been more hit than miss lately but he’s still tagged with some pretty weak material recently (i.e. Oblivion) so it doesn’t surprise me that it couldn’t compete against Maleficent. It is still a bit surprising that The Fault and in Our Stars took its lunch money though.
Have you ever told the story of how you started drawing? Is there even a story? Or can you not even remember a time when you didn't draw?
I can’t remember a time I didn’t love drawing. Very small me was particularly fond of drawing birds and trees. Birds sitting in trees. Birds flying next to trees. You know, groundbreaking stuff.
Looked a lot like this:
I always loved art class. I scribbled sketches over all of my notes all through school. Crayons and markers were everywhere all the time.
But it’s only in the last few years that I feel like I’ve started to come into my own. I draw with a lot more purpose now. I set aside time for it. I take on bigger projects. And that’s sort of like its own beginning.
So no story really. I still love birds but they still kinda look like that ^ when I draw them.
You can tell a lot about a person by the type of music they listen to. Hit shuffle on your ipod, phone, itunes, media player, etc. and write down the first 10 songs. Then pass this on to 10 people. One rule: no skipping
Not to treat you like some sort of comic book sensei but do you know what the fuck is going on with Miles Morales now? The Ultimate Universe is dead and he's living in 616 now right? But what about his friends and family and all his villains? Since they fucked up with the Secret Wars delays, Marvel haven't really explained how things have changed.
I haven’t read the first issue of his new series, but here’s where we stand with Miles currently
He got on the life raft of the Cabal during Secret Wars (Secret Wars #1)
Left the life raft and met with the Molecule Man, where he just happened to have a burger stuffed in his pants for MM to eat (Secret Wars #5)
Went to the combined Manhattan of 616 and 1610 to tell them that Doom was a lie (Ultimate End #1-4)
Participated in the final battle with Doom (Secret Wars #9)
Was restored in the modern universe as a favor by Molecule Man for the burger, with his father and mother (who was previously dead) restored with him (Secret Wars #9)
Ganke and a few of his other friends were revealed to have been placed in the modern universe with him (Ultimate End #4)
So at the very least, he still has the majority of his supporting cast (the New Ultimates and Ultimate Kate Bishop nonwithstanding, due to Ultimate Kate’s being Hydra and the Ultimates mostly being characters that already existed). I am curious to see if other original characters like Bombshell made it over with him, but everyone else is accounted for.
Baseball’s great stuff. It appeals to me from my game theory/statistics background; you’ve got the strategic stuff (left handed pitcher facing a right handed batter, etc;) and then you’ve got the plethora of statistics (WAR, ERA, OBP, OPS). It’s great fun.
And yeah, the Cardinals just didn’t bring it this game.
I have a vivid childhood memory of shopping with my mum one Saturday. She bought me the Narnia books, and as soon as I got home I started reading The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. To this day, the smell of a new book reminds me of that Saturday.
Well that’s incredibly happy. And the smell of a new book is such a nice thing anyway, that’s even better.
Rules- Always post the rules. Answer 11 questions and ask 11 more. Tag 11 people. Tell them you tagged them.
OMG I’ve been tagged!! This is so exciting!! bleach-heart thank you for tagging me! And the questions are really good :)
1. How old were you when you joined Tumblr?
First time I joined tumblr I was 13, but I got out fast. I actually joined when I was 14
2. Who is your all time favorite character? Why?
I’m not sure. I have this utter love for female powerful characters (Raven, Buttercup) but at the same time I always feel pretty identified with Hiccup (not sure why actually). Although while writing this I think I love almost all the Atlantis characters except for the Commander and the Lieutenant
3. Which fandom scares you the most?
Bronies. Definitely bronies. Not MLP fans, I can deal with the. But bronies scare me. A lot.
4. How are you feeling? What could make you feel better?
MentallyPsychologically speaking I feel awesome. Phisically my throat hurts as well as my neck, and somehow it affects my whole head. I’m running on some pills there are in my country that help with fever and muscle pain so I’m not sure what the hell I have, but if I had more of them it would be pretty cool.
5. Do you own any fandom-related objects?
Apart of having my book collection, I’ve made some SPN related pins, so yeah.
6. Have you ever cosplayed?
Not yet. (I’ve never even been in a con, so there’s that too…)
7. What is your dream job?
IDK. I want to study (and work on) videogames and animation or advertising, but I guess my dream job is either working for some big company or doing something really extreme like skiing or doing rappel or that kind of stuff.
8. If you could write a book, what would it be about?
No idea. I guess it would have a lot of influence of what I’ve read though.
9. What is your favorite fanfiction? (If you don’t have one, explain why)
Piece of fanfic or tag/ship/category? I guess it depends on the day. Although I do have a love/hate relationship with Twist and Shout
10. Where are you sitting while you answer these questions?
The chair of my computer, computer room, my house, Montevideo, Uruguay, South America, The Earth, our Solar Sistem, our galaxy. :)
11. If you could have any of your OTPs be cannon, who would it be and what show?
IDK. I haven’t watched many show, but I’d like to make Destiel (SPN) canon. I would also like to make completely canon a relationship between Captain Malcolm Reynolds and Inara (Firefly), but that would mean another season and although it would be awesome, I don’t think I can deal with it after what happened in the movie (I don’t want to give spoilers, but many characters would be missing and it would be awful)
11 people to tag… Sorry if we’ve never talked, I just don’t know enough people on here…
