I’ve been working! I mean, screaming! I mean- WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE.

Anxiety from doing A Dumb Thing today kept me from sleeping despite not getting any sleep the previous night, so I’m doing this. May as well make the nerves be productive if they’re going to ruin things as usual. Doesn’t help that I’m about to begin day 5 out of a 7 day stretch at mind-numbing day job. People are burning up my brain with nonstop chatter: I just want to be left alone to work on this so I can finally get on with things.

Only on the second eagle illustration. And as usual, I have not yet started on the ever important bird portion of it. So. Slow.

hello! im (somewhat) a beginner artist, and people tell me i have talent and a lot of potential, and so i wanted to step it up a notch. im not very involved in the artist world, i sort of create and admire works from afar. but i came upon yours and other artists style, and i have a few questions! how do you do your art? is there a program you use? i only draw/paint on sketch paper and canvas, and i have no idea how you guys are creating yours. i'm very out of touch and could use some intel😊

It’s great that you are trying to level up your skills! I’m not really sure where you are at now, but I really benefited from playing with a lot of different mediums. Painting and working with chalk pastels have probably had the biggest influence on how I work digitally. Also, take advantage of YouTube. There are tutorials for everything.

My method depends a bit on the piece and my mood. Usually I will follow this general pattern:

1- Produce a series of rough sketches/thumbnails (pencil or digital)
2- Pick my favorite(s) and take some photo reference if necessary.
3- Do a more detailed sketch to get a better feel for everything (pencil or digital).
4- Proceed to the final painting. My final illustrations are all produced with a Wacom Intuos and Adobe Photoshop.

Sometimes, however, I will do a rough sketch and just dive into the final. This was the case with my Rhysand portrait (shame on me), and he was pretty hideous in the early stages as I was figuring things out.

I hope this was helpful! <3

This was such a special afternoon ❤️

Too many photos of my face but my best friends were gems and took photos of me EVERYWHERE! You all know I love my show (and I know I’ve been a bit vacant recently but my distance at the moment has nothing to do with my love for ED) and have loved it for over 20 years so to get to walking through the village was so so special, to spend actual time seeing everything I wanted, to hear how it all works even down to the clever gardener having to glue leaves on the trees to match seasons and the remote controlled smoke for the chimneys… it was so lovely.

Everything felt so tiny but those photos with the phone box in the background felt SURREAL to me. Walking a little way through the village and looking at all the houses was so fun but it was when you turned and looked up the street that it was really kind of magical for me.

I got to see so much I didn’t even think about from Sarah Sugden’s & Carl King’s graves (had a bit of a moment at both!), the bridge of tears, inside the vets, got to sit in the church and inside the village hall and I had a sit on Val’s bench. We were allowed into the garage for a short while too but it was set up for filming but nothing spoilery. I spied the two tubs they used as seats for the “wedding”!

The tour guide laughed at me when I asked if Rob’s Porsche was around (so many of the cars were) but apparently it’s off elsewhere :( also the blue van wasn’t on site either because I wanted my photo with that too! Managed to get to the bottom of the mystery of all of the barns though (aka the bread barn etc) and which is which. Seeing the old Wishing Well set was such a MOMENT for me too, you all know the dream is to cuddle up with Alfie on those crochet blankets!

All in all, it was a gorgeous afternoon. I was like a giddy child and couldn’t stop smiling. The village is beautiful; it’s so so pretty (especially the flowers around Beauty and Bernice) and finishing off the tour with a cheeky walk down the road to see Wishing Well and the back of the scrap yard (they aren’t on the tour so you can’t visit them) was fun!

I miss you all and I hope to be back in the next few weeks. Feel like I have so much to offload about the show and get excited about (LYDIA❤️) but in the mean time, sending lots of love to you all.

Had a fabulous time in Tokyo, it was exhausting but absolutely thrilling. I didn’t get a chance to get any good pictures wearing my jacket there. My husband doesn’t have the patience to watch me flounce around for photos 😅
But here are some close ups of the details. The characters are Japanese for “truth”. As I have mentioned before my original idea for this jacket has change since I first started it. This final outcome is wonderful, but very different from what I imagined.

THAT photoshoot

Ok so I just unearthed some new details about the infamous crazy fashion photo shoot and guys, I just had to share.

First off there’s an interview that goes with it.  An interview about David’s personal fashion. And just, you have to go and read it, It’s so perfect. I’ll wait.

He is, he says repeatedly, not a shopper. "I do that typical male thing of finding one thing and doing it to death, like Paul Smith suits.“

So:

  • Vindication! haven’t I been saying this!
  • Documented evidence that
    • The Paul Smith thing goes back at least to 2006.
    • At least some of those older suits are PS
  • Not a shopper, totally supports my theory that he just does it in one bulk spree.

Also weird coincidence, look at the photographer:

That jumper’s Burberry incidentally. Which leads me to my next discovery.  Check out the Burberry Prorsum Spring/ Summer 2006 look book.

(with some details from my cosplay photos)

but you always see them together…

Because that’s how it is supposed to be.

Good morning❤️ here is a mini and very lazy home tour, remember I’ll be updating most likely this weekend because we get our laundry room gear and our dining so I’m excited! For the most part every room is done, I do believe we have some new paintings coming in as well! And Es bed? It was on back order so I don’t remember! Her first big girl bed !

For some photo detail. The first photo is the living room and in the back is a second living space and Sam knew exactly what he had in mind for it 😂 he ordered stuff too but hasn’t told me, lol he says you’ll see, I’m excited to find out lol The second photo to the left is Es room it’s much more full than it looks but I thought this was was extremely cute to share as a sneak peak The third photo to the right is Ellises room, very simple and homey, has a comfortable feel and fourth photo to the third two on the left is Sims room which was the first done seeing we had all of her stuff the first day, but we love it! She’s very pleased with it as am I, Next to Simplicity’s room to the right is our room (Sam and I) and it’s just the window view and Sams small work space and the babies crib because we thought it was getting warm when we took this photo but it’s supposed to go from 72 and sunny to 22 and snowy this weekend.. oof, love the snow though! And the last photo on the bottom is our bed area which above it you can’t see is a windowed ceiling but allows us to close it off if we don’t want it open, I’m pretty In love with this part.

Thank you for reading I hope you have a wonderful Friday !
