some people think they are so clever

Mars in Fire signs
People with their Mars in a Fire sign (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) are quick to assert themselves. They are the type to get angry easily and you will see their temper flare up. More than any other Mars sign, it’s the Fire sign Mars who can resort to violence when angered. They have lots of energy to burn and it can lead to spontaneous adventures and impulsiveness. One thing they hate more than anything? Boredom. They have to be doing something with their time. The Fire sign Mars are prone to becoming reckless and can often find themselves getting in a lot of trouble.

Mars in Earth signs
People with their Mars in an Earth sign (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) are patient and strategic. They are not very aggressive individuals and can be patient with anger. They prefer to spend their time being productive and usually working on their long term goals. They can be very successful people because they’re always on-the-go and they set realistic and achievable goals for themselves. The Earth sign Mars do not mind getting their hands dirty every now and then because they understand and value the meaning of hard work and dedication.

Mars in Air signs
People with their Mars in an Air sign (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius) spend most of their time and energy into mental pursuits. They are knowledgeable and can be social butterflies as well. For some reason, they do attract a lot of people because their energy is contagious and fun. They aren’t quick to anger, but best believe they can give a fierce tongue-lashing and a cold shoulder. The Air sign Mars are the types to “think before doing” and so they develop this cleverness to them. They may miss out on opportunities because they sit and ponder too much, but there are times where opportunities come knocking at their door.

Mars in Water signs
People with their Mars in a Water sign (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces) are indirectly aggressive. Often times, the Water sign Mars at their worst, have trouble containing their anger. Since they are attached to their feelings, they won’t do something unless it feels right with them. They are capable of achieving their goals, but only if it sits right with them and if it’s going to be long term. The Water sign Mars often do need a little push. They have an incredibly strong intuition and no one knows whats best for them like they know whats best for themselves.

Homestuck Meta Theory

Alright, so I know there’s a lot of people disappointed with the ending, again, I sound like a broken record by this point. And don’t get me wrong- While I love the ending, I would still love to see more of the characters and the story! I just feel it’s a good end as it is. I’ve made a lot of theories about what the End means and everything about Act 7, but all of the things I said, about the Jujus, about becoming freed from Paradox Space, it made me think about the rest of the story, and I believe it has made my entire idea of what Homestuck is change.

So the big question here is, what IS Homestuck? Most people, including me, when talking to someone who knows nothing about it, will speak about the story, the 4 Kids playing SBURB, and the subsequent destruction of Earth. And then mention its huge amount of references towards programming languages, popular culture, storytelling in itself, and it’s self-referential nature. But this Ending has got me thinking that maybe the reason why so many people have been disappointed in the End is because they got Hussie’s intentions wrong.

We tend to reference how the humor and the nature of Homestuck’s narrative is a little extra onto the story, and while it is true the story itself and the characters have drawn a big part of the Fandom, I thought… What if the important part of the Narrative isn’t the Story, but the Meta elements.

As soon as I made connection, everything about the ending began to fall into place. I have commented before that I feel Act 7 is like being shown the Good Ending of a video game without seeing its Neutral Route.

The Kids have Earth, and Juju Vriska uses manages to flip the ending so that instead of being trapped by Paradox Space’s rules…

They manage to ‘End’ the game properly and get their Happy Ever After.

All while Caliborn is shown getting his power of Immortality, and while we’re left ambiguous about what happens to Vriska and Lord English and everyone in the Dream Bubbles…

Another thing people have complained about is the Character Arcs.

They say how ‘different’ the timeline is. What was the point of Rose’s alcoholism if then Vriska just swats the drink away and it never had any relevance anymore? Terezi’s relationship with Gamzee never happened. Dave and Karkat got together? The Game Over Timeline is bad, everyone agrees that people dying is never good, but they also claim that suddenly having all that Character Development changed made them unable to relate to some characters anymore.

And of course there’s always the mention of how Vriska, even though she’s an abusive 8itch, ended up being somewhat of a heroine, or at the very least not seemingly getting too punished…

That’s where the Narrative itself told us there was something off.

DAVE: rose we dont have fuckin “arcs” we are just human beings

Many have mentioned it, about how not having a closure to certain character arcs referenced this portion, the notion that the characters didn’t have an arc. The same way she then references Jade breaking Endgame ships and such. Rose’s power is Light, and her information source comes from the same place as SBURB and Skaia. It’s a game. Of course she’d have the notion that all of them have to fit certain predisposed stereotypes or their stories have to follow a certain pattern- Rose is looking at their lives since SBURB started as it has been. A Story.

But Dave is having none of it. Dave is beyond the thought that all they do has to follow a set pattern, and claims they don’t have character arcs. This might sound like a clever device by Hussie so he didn’t have to explore more of each of these character’s lives and he could close the comic leaving some loose ends but, there’s more.

Hussie? As an entity? Exists within the story. This would be all fun and dandy if it were a couple of stupid references and memes. And that’s what many people think! Most of his appearances in canon have been a joke, really. But…

Hussie joked about his influence on the comic, when his bot-self was about to mess up with the Kids in the Yellow Yard, but eventually didn’t do it. And yet? His fight with Vriska. His interactions with Caliborn. Everything pictured above? Hussie is a physical entity that follows the same rules as everyone else in Paradox Space and can influence the story. But he’s not a self-insert. He IS the Author. He is the one who wrote every of these characters and continued the story. He’s not another character, he’s himself, in the Homestuck Universe.

And then it began to dawn on me, that perhaps the Meta aspect of Homestuck was a bit more than Fourth-Wall Breaking fun and references to real life stuff. Of course, this train of thought led me to another main plot device that has never exactly been explained to its full extent. Jujus.

There’s the Sucker…

The Crowbar…

The House Juju…

A lollipop that could change character’s personalities, making them immediately make up for aaaall of their mistakes without a care in the world, start alchemizing new weapons, and end up exactly where they needed to be.

A crowbar that can break other of these mysterious devices, and more importantly, has been shown to be able to interact with the Website itself, which seems to be its own physical entity as well!

A house that gave John the ability to change the story, and that ended up being used against the Big Bad of the entire comic.

A puppet that trapped the Souls of various characters and became the gateway for the Big Bad of the comic to become who he is.

A mysterious pair of rings that oh so conveniently appear and disappear on characters, and leave you wondering what they really do, but clearly shown to at least be able to revive someone who, by no other means in the story, would have been able to get back to the world of the living.

Jujus are mysterious, when you look at them from the perspective of the characters. They have no beginning, no end, they just appear at some point and do a loop through time, ending up exactly where they appeared first. They are powerful artifacts able to change reality itself, with no explained origin… But we are no characters. We have seen what these things do on the comic through its entire lengths.

Jujus are plot devices meant to alter the Meta of the comic. They are not things that make sense in a true physical reality. They are artifacts that alter the rules of the plot. Because that’s what the plot is. A story. Because Homestuck is not real, and it acknowledges this.

Or at least… It was supposed to acknowledge this. Many have also claimed that the last updates were so disappointing, compared to Cascade, as Cascade managed to solve so many plot points, but this last one felt empty of everything. Plot. Character Development. That’s where Jujus and Hussie come in.

Hussie dies, in his own comic, a comic that acknowledges him as the actual AUTHOR of the events taking place. And later, we see…

Caliborn, the young version of Lord English, acknowledging Hussie’s death, as he takes the rest of Act 6 and makes it his. Through the use of the Command Prompt, through his own drawings, he begins to write his own story.

[S] Cascade had so many plot points resolved, and these last updates didn’t. Because that is the point. Ever since Act 5 ended and Act 6 started, Hussie has begun to lose control of the story. He was killed by Lord English, the big bad, who also took control of the narrative. Vriska acknowledges a narrator speaking, and forces the narrative to shift back to her opening the Juju chest out of frustration. The command prompts, John’s retcons- At this point, Hussie is no longer in control of his characters.

The Game Over timeline was bad, but it felt like it had more Character Development. That is because it was a not-retconned Timeline. The characters had struggles, the plot moved on forward, some people was possessed, it was all prime material for a conflict and a resolution afterwards! But Aranea’s intervention made it a Doomed Timeline. A Bad End. We all know how Doomed Timelines work, so everything that happens there would have been totally irrelevant. But John didn’t want to accept that. Roxy was still alive, and sad. And Terezi wanted him to fix things up. So instead of acknowledging he was in a Doomed Timeline, like Roxy did? Roxy, who saw her mother-daughter die in her arms, and claimed there might be nothing left for them. And meanwhile, John just managed to get his powers ready, zapped back in time and solved everything.

New problems arose in the new Timeline, sure, but not as many. And a lot of the character arcs were suddenly shoved back. Rose no longer struggles with alcoholism, Karkat doesn’t chase after Terezi, and becomes Matesprits with Dave after mellowing down. Gamzee, one of the biggest dangers, is shoved back by Vriska until he’s barely relevant anymore.

And all of this might just be me trying to find an explanation to the sudden loose ends not being tied. But I think, all of this, was meant to express more than Hussie rolling the story back or changing the story to fit other things. No.

We go back to Dave’s words. We’re real people, we don’t have arcs. We are real people. In a comic, where the author is a character, and that always acknowledges it’s a comic? Dave saying they’re real people is big. It was taken as a joke, because they are characters, come on! Right? … Right?

Well of course they are. But that’s the thing. Up until Act 6, all of the various characters were nothing more than that. And even during the Game Over Timeline, they were nothing more than that. But Hussie’s death, the ghosts, no longer relevant, trying to fight back against Lord English? Caliborn’s acknowledgement of a story and trying to take control of it? And finally, John’s powers.

The House Juju gave John something more important than being able to change the Timeline.

The ability to make Selfcest canon.

Wait no- That wasn’t it.

The ability to alter the plot to his own whims.

John’s zapping doesn’t follow the rules of Paradox Space. It allows him to change the timeline as he wishes and it still be the Alpha. Not only that, but he can also warp out of the story itself, sending people and things to the background of the website.

It’s when Vriska starts to try and find this Juju that everything about the narrative begins to shift gears. John now can change the plot. Which means he is not adhering to the rules that bound them all anymore. He can go back, bring people who were dead back to life, save his friends, and aid them get a better ending.

And in this new timeline he’s changed? Everyone seems a bit different. They have gone through different things, and are as confused as anyone else about what is going on. This is the moment where these characters stop being characters.

This isn’t a story about Four Kids playing a Game, getting involved in Shenanigans and trying to live a happy ever after as villains try to plot on destroying them and reality. Homestuck is the tale of the characters from a webcomic, becoming self-aware, and escaping the grasp of the author and the narrative.

I don’t know if this is what Hussie intended, and if it is, at what point he planned to start leading the story this way. I might just be crazy and be reading too much into this? But as I see it? It closes every single loophole in this story.

Doomed Timelines are meant to be nothing. They are meant to fade, and not be relevant anymore. But the ghosts are having none of this. They WANT to be relevant in this story again. They create an army, and head off to defeat the biggest threat in the entire comic.

Caliborn knows reality itself isn’t as it seems, and tries to make his own story within it. He strives to become almighty, and then begins to destroy and rend reality itself so he can make way for his own rule.

Vriska knows she’s in a story, having interacted with the very Author and the command prompt! But she is not trying to change the story- All the opposite. Vriska follows the rules of the story, closes loopholes from what she has seen, but tries to be the one who causes everything. She wants to be in the spotlight of this tale. She creates Bec Noir just because she had seen it in her screen. And knowing this is a story, she goes off of her way to find methods to defeat each of these villains, at any cost. Because in a story, once she defeats these big, powerful foes, she’ll be a heroine, and everyone will regard her so highly, she’ll be over everyone else. Just like she wants.

John? I don’t think he knows he’s in a story. But he has the power to alter it. And after he begins to mess with the timeline, the rules of Paradox Space begin to shatter around him and his friends. Time loops, Rules, Plot, why would they care about how a story goes, if it’s not a story, it’s their lives. They just want to be happy and get away from this cycle of destruction and death.

I’d even go as far as to say God Tier Calliope knows this. If her Land and her Earth were anything like Caliborn’s, she might also been in contact with the command prompt. Perhaps the fact her entire mission was a self-sacrifice to collapse the Green Sun represented how she, too, saw Paradox Space as what it was- A construct that kept these characters trapped as that. Characters. And the only way to escape its grasp was the erase its very existence, using Lord English’s destruction to tear a hole through the comic, and destroy it.

In this way, everything that happens towards the ending makes perfect sense. There are hundreds, thousands, who knows how many timelines, in which every plot hole will be closed. But we’re not following these. It would be easy to cause, say, the Condesce to wake up. Because of her immortality curse given by Lord English. Or the Draconian Dignitary get to the Frog Lily Pad. Something happens, interrupts the kids from entering to the new Session, and bam! Suddenly more plot! Their entrance to the Universe is blocked. Terezi worries about Vriska, so they begin to plot a way to help her defeat Lord English. The black hole in the Session that likely leads to Caliborn’s land becomes relevant, and they all have a trip to beat up Caliborn. Something happens to Calliope, her ring has ended up in Caliborn’s hands as well, he traps the kids, the Alphas beat him up, all loops are closed, we have a bittersweet, predictable ending. And this has happened. In many timelines before. Over, and over. Perhaps the one we’re following isn’t even the Alpha, for that very reason.

But it doesn’t matter. I talked about how the Jujus were a way to alter the plot, and let’s go back to this, and look at my theory about the Kids Souls being Trapped for all eternity in this Juju. The moment Caliborn uses this Juju, he kickstarts the entirety of the rules of Paradox Space. These kids we follow through the story, are trapped in a plot, with rules dictated by narrative that they HAVE to adhere too.

Then the ghosts decide that this is bullshit, and that they, even after death, want to still be relevant. Instigated by Vriska and Meenah, and aided by Aranea’s mind control, they manage to find a way they can alter the plot once again, a Juju. John touches this Juju, and suddenly he gains the power to alter this plot as well, and begins his and his friend’s journey to escape the clutches of Paradox Space and the comic itself.

John was trapped in the house all along. So of course, shoving his arm through it? He managed to grasp at the other side. He got a taste of what it was to be free. And he gained the power of changing the plot as a result.

Then, Vriska becomes alive again. She’s relevant, and bashes down on her ghost self. Ghost self that had at one point tried to make herself relevant, even though since she’s dead she shouldn’t be. This way, Vriska proves that, while she acknowledges the story as a story, and wants to be always present and in the middle, she never sees it as something she has to escape. She has no character development, because now, in this timeline that John has changed, she’s free to do whatever she wants, she’s her own person without a character arc, but doesn’t find the need to become said person. She doesn’t want to change, she wants to keep following the plot, and take down the big bad.

So Vriska takes the house Juju from her alternate self, goes against Lord English, beats up the Author of the comic itself as a last Fuck You, and then uses the Juju towards him. And this is when Alive Vriska makes her big mistake. By following this plot, this story, the Juju house crashes behind her…

She’s on Lord English’s side of the house. Because both of them know the comic is just that, a story. He knows about the narrative, and the author. So he kills the author, and becomes the big evil that must be defeated. Meanwhile, Vriska knows about the narrative, and the author, so she beats up the author and tries to become the heroine.

Caliborn and Vriska could very well strive to break free of Paradox Space in other ways, but instead they do what they do best- Be themselves, and fuck shit up in the process. And it’s this mentality that in the end, as the House Juju appears, tells us that both of them have been doomed. Doomed to be trapped in this Collapsing Paradox Space there’s no escape from.

Except there is an escape.

Because the door opens. It opens for the Kids and Trolls on the lily pad. And it opens for the Ghost Army and everyone else in the Bubbles. These are people that have been living aside from the story for a long time. The ones that are alive in the Session have had John change everything and the events happening after make them question Paradox Space itself. And the dead ones or the ones just stuck in the Furthest Ring? They fear being forgotten. They fear being erased by the collapsing Paradox Space, and had faced Lord English to try and become relevant once more.

Of course Condy’s curse didn’t wake her up. Of course DD didn’t appear. The moment the Juju appears, the story is done. There is no more plot. Because it’s not a story. The ones wanting to follow the plot are now seeing it crumble, seeing everything end. And the ones that wanted to become relevant against Paradox Space- Why would they need to even follow the rules? They are trying to escape them.

The Plot Holes are part of the plot in itself. John and everyone else didn’t need to fill it up. Because they are not part of the story anymore. We didn’t see their character arcs close. Because they are not characters anymore. They are not characters anymore. They don’t need to show us they have grown- Or maybe they haven’t even grown. They are always growing, learning. But now, they have escaped this evil Universe that trapped them and forced into cruel and crueler situations. They have escaped to a peaceful realm. They don’t need to keep following the story. They are happy and free to live their lives however they want.

They are finally happy.

anonymous asked:

Hey could I maybe have some advice? I have a gem character who is a coal. Her whole thing is that coals are like worker ants that periots use to mine gems for the kindergarten. So it's just a fan character I made for fun. That's not really what I need advice on though. My issue right now is people don't receive her well because coal is not a type of gemstone and "it doesn't fit with the lore" even though it's just a fan character. So is there a way I could change her to fit expectations?

My advice? Keep your original idea. I think it’s very clever and clearly something you put a lot of thought into. Fancharacters are made for fun, they do not need to be canon-compliant and it’s not anyone’s place to come at you and demand you change it. If they personally don’t think coal should be used as a Gem, that’s fine, no one is forcing them to making one. But it’s not their place to say no one can do it.

But if you want something more concrete to shush naysayers trying to ruin your fun, it’s worth noting that there are already canonical Gems that are not, in fact, gemstones. Including Pearl (not actually a gemstone, or a stone at all), Lapis Lazuli (a rock, not a gem), and Bismuth (a metal). So saying that using anything other than gemstones for Gems “doesn’t fit with lore” doesn’t even hold true in regards to the show’s actual established characters.

Further, the crew have always been very adamant that fans should create fanworks and fancharacters however they see fit. And, in fact, Ian Jones-Quartey even tweeted that any mineral is fair game for Gems

(here)

Anyways, you do you. Ignore the folks just trying to wreck your fun. They’re absolutely in the wrong here, not just in that they don’t have authority to tell you what to do, but also in that the show’s rules don’t even agree with their assertion.

loki · the trickster god of mischief

Loki is known as the tricker God, he is not evil, nor is he good, he lives in Asgard even though he is from Jotunheim (the land of the giants). he loves to make trouble for anyone and everyone especially for the Gods and Goddesses in Asgard. Loki is both cunning and clever and he always comes up with new ideas to annoy and bring people in the uttermost embarrassments. Loki just loves to prank people in all the ways he can think of, aslong that he think it is funny. After he brings someone in trouble with his pranks, he often saved them so he would look like the hero of the day. Loki has an amazing ability which is a quite useful skill for him, he is able to shape shift into almost any living being. In some separate incidents he appears in the form of a salmon, a mare, a seal, a fly, and possibly also an elderly woman. After Loki had made one prank to many for the Gods and Goddesses in Asgard, he was placed in a cave with a poisonous snake above his head. Loki’s faithful and loving wife Sigyn, stayed with Loki in the cave and held a bowl over his head to catch the poison from the snake.

Doctor Spencer Reid was a very strong person. He was so brilliant and clever, often thinking of and about things other people wouldn’t. He solved crimes you couldn’t even think about without feeling disturbed. But although Spencer was strong, sometimes work was too much for him to deal with by himself. Sometimes he needed you to help him fall asleep.

Tonight was one of those nights. He’d dealt with a particularly difficult and sickening case, and all he could think about was you all day. He missed you. He needed your gentle touch and sweet kisses to comfort him.

And so, he drove home in a hurry and sulked into the bedroom where you laid over the covers, your glasses on your face and a book in your hands.

“Hey,” you muttered, kissing him before he laid his head on your stomach and pulled the book out of your hands, tossing it to the side. “you okay?”

He nodded, but gulped and looked up at you with sad eyes. His chin rested on your belly. You gave him a concerned look, “What is it, Spence? Something happen?”

You smoothed his hair away from his forehead. He let out a quiet, tired sigh and shook his head. “Nothing happened. Just had a tough day.” he told you. He turned his head away from your face to rest his cheek back on your stomach and stare off into space for a few minutes, his arms around you in a tight embrace.

“Okay.” you replied simply. You continued to run your fingers through his hair, and the two of you sat in silence for a while. You didn’t want to push him to tell you anything, because you knew he would if there was anything to say.

“Sit up for a sec,” you told him after a few minutes. He did so, and you took off his tie and unbuttoned his shirt, revealing the cotton t shirt underneath it. He took off his belt and got out of bed for a second to change into sweatpants.

You felt bad for him, he looked so tired. “Come here,” you smiled softly, pulling the blankets back and sliding under them. Spencer smiled back sadly.

He got under the blankets, and you both shifted around until he was laying with his head on your chest and long legs tangled with yours. Your one hand rubbed his back while the other rested on the side of his face. It was the only way you knew how to help him right now.

“Thank you.” he mumbled tiredly. You nodded, “Always, love.”

He was asleep in minutes, and soon after that, you turned off the lamp on the bedside table, kissed his head, and drifted off yourself.

A few hours later, Spencer woke with a start. Sweat glistened on his forehead as he frantically looked around the room, but he calmed down when he saw you sleeping peacefully beside him.

He didn’t wake you to tell you about his nightmare. He simply nuzzled himself back under your arm, kissed your stomach through your shirt, and fell back asleep with the comforting notion that you were safe and sound.

Some quick musings on the new update

thelostspecial.com

Here is the text, with my first thought comments in bold:

I was going to draw this out longer but the truth is, I’m bored.

OK

There is no Lost Special. There never was, and there never will be.

And you know this objectively?

Once again, in their need to keep this midnight train going, TJLC fans created something out of nothing.

Even if that is that case, why do you care?

Seeing this obsession with “The Lost Special,” even though series 4 was clearly over, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to run a sociological experiment with a vicious fandom in denial.

Steven brought it up, not us.  Also, even if the series is over, that doesn’t mean it’s over.  They’ve repeatedly said they have through series 5 mapped out. It was only in December 2016 they started hinting at “we don’t know, this could be it.” Sure Jan.

My poorly assembled website took not more than twenty minutes to cobble together (as some people rightly pointed out) and very little effort to maintain.

This is a lie.

“By the pricking of my thumbs (something wicked this way comes)”- I edited an ominous message into the code and title, referencing the Macbeth quote used in The Six Thatchers. It was strange to see how many people didn’t recognise the “pricking” quote and even criticised the website because it allegedly didn’t call back to Sherlock in any way- except that I was directly quoting a series 4 episode.

Except most of us did recognize this?  What about your dancing man code reference to Unto the Breach?

Watching fans defend how shoddy the website is, in their need for thelostspecial to be real was especially funny. It was also funny to see the people who guessed the website was fake and said as much, but didn’t even care because they desperately needed something to hold onto, with Sherlock over.

Whichever, why do you care?  Why would it be funny to you?

Then there’s the people who clocked that thelostspecial.com wasn’t “real”… and yet never question their own dedication to TJLC and/or the existence of a fourth episode of series 4, concepts entirely created by Tumblr.

The lost special site was only one of hundreds of indications something is fucky.

Anyhow. Next, I threw a random bunch of numbers and photos out there to see how people would scramble and react, and you didn’t let me down. Mostly I chose the first photo I found of a character that I liked the look of, in Google; there wasn’t real logic. I re-used some images out of laziness. I used an online generator to make the Dancing Men/Henry V code post.

So the meanings we found in everything, tying it somehow back to Sherlock, or ACD canon, or anything else were all coincidences?

What do we say about coincidences?

40, 27, kra, the various “hints” you think you found on the website and found countless possible meanings of, they were chosen at random. Even the elephant photo was chosen at random. It wasn’t until after I edited it into the main website photo that I discovered the poor thing was named Mary and had been shot and executed for killing a man (on 9.13.16. Everyone overthought that one too much.)  So I used that info because it was serendipitous. “The universe is rarely so lazy?” Friends, the universe is often lazy.

“They were chosen at random.”  “The universe is rarely so lazy?

Sure Jan.

When I added a black image with five pixels of colour to the website, you did not let me down. People played with the image until they became convinced it was QR code spelling something out. It was just five meaningless pixels of nothing, created in MS Paint.

Yet you did the whole thing in 20 minutes.

The static gif was taken from a YouTube video of TV static from some movie, with an old Moriarty close-up thrown in.

We know, 28 days later.  With Moriarty loaded in.  Again, whole thing in 20 minutes.

The photo of John and Sherlock sitting in the watery 221B, I got it from Farfarawaysite.com, and scaled it down a little because the photo was large. That’s it. I didn’t change the proportions in any way, or alter the colours, or add anything to the photo. Anything you saw in it, you imagined. I left the big black header on the website as a hint to keep your eye on those, since the thing I changed on 2/11 was in the similar Twitter header.

”That’s it. I didn’t change the proportions in any way, or alter the colours, or add anything to the photo. Anything you saw in it, you imagined.”

Like Murderous Mary being photoshopped into the back picture? Sure Jan: http://whimsicalethnographies.tumblr.com/post/156824256785/221bloodnun-whimsicalethnographies

I changed the plain black header of the Twitter to a black one with a word embedded in it. The profile photo was changed to a plain black photo with XX hidden in it. No one bothered checking it, though clearly the account was active again, so I changed the profile photo to show the Xs, as a hint to look deeper. Finally people found the “clue” today, not that it matters. The word spelled out there is another blind alley that leads nowhere.

Then accept all our follow requests.

MMTE: The source code message was a hint toward Murderous Mary the Elephant, which some of you guessed but no one looked for it.

murderousmarytheelephant.tumblr.com

(Don’t bother trying to access it, there’s nothing in there.)

DON’T LOOK NOTHING TO SEE HERE, EVEN THOUGH THERE’S A PASSWORD.

There was no set schedule for changes to thelostspecial. I used intermittent reinforcement to keep people frustrated but coming back for more. That’s why I added and removed things at unexpected times. There is no pattern.

Ok?

For people wondering, wow, why would anyone take so much time to do this? Well, I didn’t. Creating the plain black squares with a few letters, throwing a message into the source coding,  and uploading the new website photo of John and Sherlock took maybe 5 minutes. Creating a side blog with no posts and keeping it private takes one minute.

Except the photoshopping you DID do as established would have taken more.  Even searching for the first image you found would have taken time.

Overall, it takes less than twenty minutes a week to do this, once it was set up, because really? You do all the work for me. You all did what TJLCers do best- you took a bunch of random data, inflated it into something much more complicated than it really was, and created your own narrative out of it. Even knowing it might be nothing, and was probably just a fan-made site, you’ve still allowed yourselves to get worked up over it and allowed yourselves to hope. You’re reading into nonsense and finding clues where there are none, and naturally most of those “clues” pointed exactly where you wanted them to point to. Confirmation bias at its finest.

Well all I get from this is that we’re smarter than you are.

Learn from this.

Stop falling into conspiracies. Trust yourself when you can see that something isn’t real or likely. Alternately, find something that doesn’t make you feel sad or heartbroken.

Seriously?  “Trust yourself when you can see that something isn’t real or likely.”

Instincts are to be trusted, John.

Also, my instincts have gotten me into a pretty good place. I’ll keep trusting them, thanks, and they tell me something is fucky.  We’ve seen this episode before.

Goddamn you’re arrogant.

A few final notes:

“And in conclusion *jerk off motion*

I was somewhat entertained by the several dozen times people attempted to reset the password for the website and access the control panel. If I was petty, I would’ve logged your IPs and reported you to your ISP. (Don’t worry, I didn’t. I don’t care that much.)’

You cared enough to look.

I didn’t send the “mole” anons or any other messages on Tumblr. I think other fans decided to join the game. I imagine they’ll continue until they get bored, too.

Read: I can’t say why everything else is fucky too.  Must be more people like me.

The only twitter account connected to thelostspecial.com is twitter.com/thelostspecial. I have no idea who runs the “contact” twitters but I’m positive they’re fan accounts. (If you think BBC-sanctioned accounts would post like that, I have a bridge to sell you.) As for my twitter, I set up the thelostspecial twitter account, followed some BBC-related accounts and left it alone for a week while TJLC fans went wild trying to suss out who I was following. That’s all I did with it.

Then accept my follow request.  Seriously, YOU’RE SO CLEVER I need to follow you to learn your secrets.

I didn’t start thelostspecial Instagram account. Someone else did that, I don’t know who.

Nobody asked.  Actually, I didn’t even know there was an instragram account.  Did anyone else know?

And if you enjoyed hunting, try a legitimate online riddle game, such as Amnesya.com for a challenge! All the fun, none of the TJLC and fandom “fucky” business.

Well, since you brought up “fucky business,” why are they screenshots of the Shrewd Living posts in the “Museum?” Did you do that too? Wow.  In charge of a scam website.  Oh, you don’t know about that?  Then why put it in there?  Why, John?

Nah.

Sherlock Series 4 is over. This is the end.

Thanks for playing TheLostSpecial! Goodbye and God bless.

Seriously, we’ve seen this episode before.

WE’VE SEEN THIS EPISODE BEFORE.

I get so annoyed when people think the Sorting Hat goes after what you are like. No, it’s about what you value. See: Neville, who probably as a then-coward, admired bravery most. See: Hermione. “Books! And cleverness! There are more important things; friendship, and bravery.” Which is why all the tests have some wrongly posed implication, too: that they evaluate how you are. They should say beforehand, “don’t answer what you would do, but what your ideal person would.”

“Now… you asked me to construct some more ciphers for you. I am sorry, my lord, but I must have misunderstood your requirements. What was wrong with the first ones I did?”
Vetinari sighed. “I am afraid they were unbreakable, Leonard.”
“But surely–”
“It is hard to explain,” said Vetinari, aware that what to him were the lucid waters of politics was so much mud to Leonard. “These new ones you  have are… merely devilishly difficult?”
“You specified fiendishly, sir,” said Leonard, looking worried.
“Oh yes.”
“There does not appear to be a common standard for fiends, my lord, but I did some research in the more accessible occult texts and I believe these ciphers will be considered ‘difficult’ by more than ninety-six percent of fiends.”
“Good.”
“They may perhaps verge on the diabolically difficult in places–”
“That is not a problem. I shall use them forthwith.”
Leonard still seemed to have something on his mind.
“It would be so easy to make them archdemonically diff–”
“But these will suffice, Leonard,” said Vetinari.
“My lord,” Leonard, almost wailed, “I really cannot guarantee that sufficiently clever people will be unable to read your messages!”
“Good.”
“But, my lord, they will know what you are thinking!”
Vetinari patted him on the shoulder.
“No, Leonard. They will merely know what is in my messages.”

Sansa, Smart

So. Sansa. I hear some people think she’s not very clever. This is a view shared by several characters in the books.

But there’s no reason the readership should share those views. Sansa is a very clever individual who makes increasingly good use of several skills she started the series with, and develops greatly as an observer and an actor over the course of the story.

Putting everything under a cut, for reasons of four books of brainpower.

The best ENTP rant/description you’ve never heard

Here’s my take with all the dirt. An ENTP looks great from the outside because we make you laugh, we give you true insightful criticism, we know all about your interests, and really “understand” you -we know logically why you feel like you do, even if you don’t. We find creative “why didn’t I think of that” solutions to not only your life problems but your computer problems too. We can charm your grandparents, your parents, and your friends. We can party with the extraverts, and sit in silence with the introverts. We can talk Trek with nerds, and Baudelaire with artsy-fartsies. You probably didn’t notice us in high school because we were in our embryonic pseudo INTP/INTJ morph. But you got surprised when you saw us back from college break and though we looked different (aka more desirable). We seem now just oh so dreamy and exciting.

But all that takes a -lot- of energy. It’s a performance we put on tailor made, on the spot, just for you. Eventually we get tired and the mask slips off. That’s when you think we’re shallow or self-centered, but the truth is, you misunderstood our performance for personal interest. (And maybe we did too — it’s easy to lose yourself as a method actor.) But we’re just as cold and analytical ruthless as the other NTs: We don’t nitpick you apart like an INTJ, or categorize your usefulness like an ENTJ, or test your mental capacity like an INTP. We understand you by (subconsciously) pushing all your secret buttons…for good or bad. Maybe you fell in love with us, but now your angry and conflicted because you don’t understand why we’re suddenly being cold and distant. We’ve retreated — because while we’re good at faking emotion, and logically understanding why people feel a certain way, we’re really terrible at actually handling emotion. We get overpowered by it and annoyed by the illogicalness of it. ( Besides, we’ve already found a new shiny.) Now you hate us…but here is some consolation. We have a built-in nemesis and he’s a real bastard.

We turn that critical wide-ranging eye on ourselves. You can’t see it from the outside, but were utter perfectionists in our heads and we relentlessly measure ourselves against the realistically unachievable. Somehow we can’t find the same easy solutions to our problems as to everyone else’s, and we become mired in too many possibilities, haunted by how inadequate our own creative efforts seem to us. We at once believe our own hype, and ruthlessly condemn ourselves. We’ll may you our creations (probably something ½ finished). We secretly want your praise, like an 8 yo child. We don’t accept your garlands though (unless you’re an expert we respect) — because we’ve already judged ourself against Perfection and came out wanting. If you tell us you think it’s good, we won’t believe you. For what you mistook as bravado and arrogance, is really very wry, very sarcastic self-mortification.

We can stagnate in our mess of ideas, with no external system of organization to help us move forward. We have brief mad rushes of energy —back, forward, right, left, a random walk of ideas with a net movement of zero. If you’re really smart, being an ENTP is a double curse…because your ideas are loftier, your movements more wide-ranging, your internal critic all the more perniciously accurate. You stand on the shoulders of titans, glimpsing something wonderful across the jungle of possibilities, and sketch out a map.

But then it happens: SJ reality. They turn off your water because you forgot to pay the bill. A check bounces because you didn’t know how much money you had in the account. You burn dinner because you’re suddenly obsessed with typing out a manifesto on a blog. You tell a friend you’ll meet him at 7:00 and show up at 9:00. You forget to call your mother on her birthday. You put off simple annoyances (like depositing a check) for weeks. Your mighty creative intuition gets mostly employed to talk your way out of the stupid jams your procrastination landed you in. People with lesser talents, pass you by and you make excuses: (The internal critic says it’s because your stupid and lazy). You don’t get the promotion because while you have a lot of good ideas, you don’t follow through. You’re unreliable. You have no problems expressing your boredom with your job or critiquing your boss publicly in front of his superiors, not realizing the implications. SJ boss now -really- doesn’t like you. You get A’s in some college classes and F’s in others — but all your NT professors still think you’re intelligent, even the one’s giving your F’s, because they’ve fallen for your charms and excuses.

But people like you — they think your unique, clever and entertaining, because you are. They give you chances. So you pick yourself up, dust yourself off from your failures, and try again. Maybe you get your self another brilliant ENTP friend and start Apple Computer. Or write Candide. Or invent Quantum Electrodynamics. Or host the Daily Show. Maybe tomorrow. Or Next week. But what you’ll probably do, instead of working on finishing a paper your supposed to be readying for peer review, you’ll spend an hour typing out a cathartic blog post that’s maybe more about your own insecurities than being an ENTP.

So is ENTP the best of all the types? Hell yes it is. =)”

A new rant

There is something that has started irritating me…

It is most reasonable if some people who are fans of the fourth series need positivity in their dash and try to find only blogs that are pro-S4. I can totally understand it, that’s what I would do too.

I expect though some understanding for those who didn’t like S4. It came to my attention that lately some fans have started demonizing us because we don’t like S4. “Oh, you ask why some people hate S4? Because they are Johnlockers so obsessed and entitled that can’t accept that the plot isn’t what they thought it was about. Because all they care about is their gay ship, not the show. Because some people only care about a character, Moriarty, and demanded him to be alive forever. Because they think they are cleverer than the writers. Because they are toxic and hateful anyway”

While there are toxic people in this fandom, that’s totally true, perhaps you pure s4 enthusiasts should examine also other possibilities for the majority of the disappointed fans such as:

  1. Because they invested a lot of time in appreciating and loving and studying that story with all their heart for years and suddenly it was a whole new different show
  2. Because the promos built up expectations that were never met
  3. Because there were so many plot holes that it was almost hard to believe the new episodes were written by the same people
  4. Because the writers left without explanation things that had happened since TRF - 2012!
  5. Because the writers destroyed what made that show popular - the dynamic between the protagonists and the most fascinating characters
  6. Because they used cheap tricks to lure back fans of certain characters  or plot points

Surely I am forgetting many possibilities but I should remind you that the fourth series has been gloriously dragged by critics and made the lowest viewing rates and has the most negative reviews in Imdb and Rotten Tomatoes as long as in many other platforms. I guess all these are entitled Johnlockers who can’t see their ship sunk.

Even the cast and crew has avoided to support the last series. Louise Brealey hasn’t even watched the last episode, Arwel retweeted a list that wasn’t exactly kind to S4 etc etc

In short, you can unfollow and search for those blogs that fit your needs but generalizing and saying all those disappointed fans are just whiny little fucks whose ship didn’t become canon is extremely offensive to me and many other people. Some people here have done an extensive analysis of what they saw in this show, they’ve spent hours and energy and passion on that. And also I know some people for whom this ship meant the world for various reasons and not all of them are hateful and toxic.

So if you want to love Series 4 and enjoy watching it without negativity, unfollow people, block people, do whatever you want except make easy and wrong assumptions. Perhaps you want to protect your own fragile positive opinion about S4? I have seen some pro-s4 posts starting with “I know that S4 was full of plot holes but I still adore….”

Well if you have reached that level of astonishing patience for that show, good for you, just don’t expect that everyone should.

{.}.{.}.{.}.{.}.{.}.{.}.{.}.{.}.{.}.{.}

I paced back and forth, surprised I hadn’t yet worn a path into the floor. Since before dawn I had been awake, alone to deal with all the thoughts racing about in my head thanks to the news that had come from the Summer Court.

I had been sitting in the garden, just opening my first bottle of brandy for the night. It had been foolish of me to do so, but earlier that day I had visited the cabin where Feyre and I had stayed for a bit, grasping at anything that would make me feel close to her even if just for a few moments.

I had taken all but one step into that cabin and seen the eyes she’d painted, the shadowy purples and blues and pearl hues of Velaris at night, seen how she’d been able to capture everything we were with nothing but a few brushes and some paint—and completely lost it.

Everything came back to me in a rush, and I remembered that that was the table I had first fucked her on, that was the pot she had cooked that soup in…the one that had sealed our Mating Bond, that was the bed on which we’d made love. She was everywhere. She had come to this place, having walked into it a stranger and left with every crack and crevice screaming of her presence.

So I returned to Velaris, feeling utterly hopeless with that aching in my chest and I was screaming—roaring down the bond. Waiting for her to respond. Waiting for anything, anything to reassure me that everything that had happened in Hybern had been an act. That she really was still alive, and still loved me as fiercely as I loved her.

I was going to get excessively drunk that night—an activity I usually liked to invite Cassian to join in on, but that night was one for drinking alone— hoping and praying that the alcohol would dull my senses, that it would fight off the nightmares I could feel clawing at the back of my mind. For the first time in a long time, I was scared. Frightened out of my ass that I would lose myself to the terrors that haunted me at night—the ones that had been slowly awakening from their slumber ever since Feyre returned to the Spring Court—and I would lose control and not be able to come back.

And then Tarquin had suddenly appeared, and though I had given him access to Velaris what seemed like moons ago but had truly only been no more than a few months, he startled me in a way I never allowed myself to be.

His face told me all I needed to know. Something serious had happened.

I only smiled grimly and motioned to a chair, another glass appearing on the small table. “You may as well get comfortable.” And then he’d gone on to tell me of things that I’d already known, things I hadn’t, and things I wished I had never heard and could erase from my memory.

A soft knock sounded, and moments later Azriel entered. He took one look at me and only said softly, “Rhysand.” It was a question I didn’t have a solid answer to, so I only shook my head and ordered him to sit. “Something’s happened.” I nodded. Azriel seemed to steel himself, his jaw setting and eyes hardening before he encouraged me to go on. Once I had told him everything, he merely asked, “So when will you tell the others? Do you wish for me to inform them of this?”

“I plan to inform them only of what I have deemed absolutely necessary for them to know. But I do not want you to tell anyone of this, Az. Not even Mor.” He scowled, but didn’t protest. He know I was right; If there was any one thing in this world that was his weakness, it was my cousin. Even if he refused to acknowledge it.

“When will you tell them?” The Illyrian warrior sat back in his chair, seeming to understand the gravity of the situation at hand.

My thumb and forefinger rubbed absently across my lips before I murmured, “Soon.”

There was another knock on the door, and I muttered for the rest of the Inner Circle to enter. They were all unusually quiet, even Cassian who was always known for cracking some joke or other. But they joined me, taking their seats around the table.

Almost in unison, the five members of the Night Court looked at the unoccupied sixth chair, the chair directly to my right. I looked at each of my friends in turn; one visibly shaking in anger, one staring somberly at the empty spot, one wearing a grim expression, and one wearing no expression at all.

Mor was the first to speak. “Have you heard from her?”

She needn’t specify whom she was referring to. Feyre had been absent from the Night Court for nearly eight months now. In all that time, I nearly never heard from her. Sometimes there would be whispers, or she’d send me a fleeting image of herself while I slept. Sometimes they’d be ones of her reading, other times they’d be ones that sent my blood roaring through my veins and had me wide awake for the remainder of the night.

But whenever I attempted to contact her, I got nothing. No matter how much I screamed I was met with nothing but silence. She wasn’t blocking me; I knew what that was like. If she was blocking my advances, I’d feel that steel wall of adamant she preferred to use. I used to receive it with a mixture of pride and frustration, but now it only made me worry. And now, I’d much rather be met with that impenetrable wall than the empty void I was now left to deal with. It was like I was standing on one end of a dark tunnel, screaming into a darkness that was never ending.

I knew she was more than capable of taking care of herself, knew that she must be unharmed because if she was I was certain I would have felt it and would have rushed to that great, gaudy castle like a bat out of hell, High Lord of the Spring Court be damned.

“No.” The word rang throughout the room, echoing off the walls and filling me with a sudden, desperate need to be beside her. “But that’s not what we’re gathered to discuss. Feyre is fine, I am sure of it.”

“Yes,” Amren cut in softly. “Feyre spent years single-handedly caring for not only herself, but for her entire family.” She paused, making eye contact with each of us as she said, “I’m sure our High Lady is able to look after herself for a while.”

“Damn right she is,” Cassian heartily agreed, but sighed. “Still, I miss her all the same. She was the only one who recognized true beauty when she saw it.”

A devilish smirk graced my lips. “Thank you for the compliment, Cassian, but I believe we have more important matters to discuss.” The Illyrian warrior only glared, though there was a hint of amusement in his eyes.

“Speaking of which…Why, exactly, are we here?”

I smiled “Can’t I just have wanted to see all of you?”

Mor snorted, waving a hand of dismissal. “Oh, please. Cut the shit.”

“We are here, my dear cousin, because there’s been word on some new…developments regarding Jurian and the King of Hybern.”

“Finally,” Mor exclaimed, excitement glittering in her eyes. “Go ahead and sign me up. As lovely as it is has been being stuck in this city with all of you, I’m dying to get out of this damned house.”

“Now before you jump on the bandwagon, Mor, it goes without saying that this will be extremely dangerous. Any spies who’ve dared travel into the Sarguin lands has never been seen or heard of again.”

“Not to mention,” Amren drawled, filing away at her nails so that they became wicked sharp points, “We’ve all got death warrants sitting on our heads from some of the most powerful people in Prythian.”

Mor only grinned, “Then it’s a good thing we’re not going as spies,” she said. “Isn’t that right, Rhysand?”

I only nodded. Mor was too damn clever for her own good.“I need all of you,” I continued, “If you’re up for it, that is.”

“Well I, for one, am offended you’d even think I’d say no.” Cassian placed a fist over his chest. “I will do all I can to help, or die trying.”

“For Feyre,” Mor agreed, placing a fist to her heart. I could have sworn there was a slight bobble in her throat as she swallowed.

“For our High Lady.”

I noticed the change in the room moments before I heard, “Are you talking shit again, Cassian?”

{.}.{.}.{.}.{.}.{.}.{.}.{.}.{.}.{.}.{.}

As one our heads whipped towards the open balcony. For what seemed like an eternity we all just sat there, barely breathing and not believing what was before us.

Feyre stood on the balcony, dressed in a peach colored dress with elegant rose-gold embroidery—typical Spring Court fashion. Her hair was swept back with snow white pearls and beads, a diamond necklace winking at her throat. All of it was utterly ridiculous to be wearing in the middle of the afternoon, and she looked more like she was about to hold court than just be walking about, but—

She was smiling, and it appeared that she had not been missing meals as she had been when she had first been at the Spring Court. Her skin held a healthy glow to it, her posture showing not even a whisper of neither defeat nor sadness.

And her eyes.

Cauldron damn me, tears ran down her cheeks as Mor ran to her, crushing her in a hug. They clutched each other, Feyre’s face buried in Mor’s shoulder as if she herself couldn’t believe she was really here. And then my cousin must have said something amusing, for Feyre laughed, sniffling before turning to the rest of them.

They all hugged and greeted her, Cassian probably saying something that was more than mildly inappropriate, but I could hear nothing over the roaring in my ears. My blood raced through my veins, and I wasn’t sure I was breathing at all as she at last turned to me.

A lie.

This was all a cruel, impossible lie. She wasn’t here, she couldn’t be here in Velaris, in the Night Court and so close that I could close the distance between us in half a breath before I would be in her arms.

But then I felt a tender caressing down the bond, my senses awakening as if they’d been asleep all this time and I was just now realizing it. And everything was screaming that this was my mate—my mate. My Feyre. She was here. And I was here and—

Rhys,” she breathed.

And I shattered.

A broken gasp expelled from my lips and then she was there, right in front of me. Feyre was so close that our breaths mingled, and all I could do was stare at her.

Her hand reached up, cupping my cheek. I leaned into her touch almost instinctively, clutching her hand. I was absolutely certain that if I were to let go for even a split second she would disappear again and I’d never hear from her just as I hadn’t these past eight months.

I swallowed, “Feyre.” The room was utterly still and quiet, perhaps because the rest of the Inner Circle had made a sudden yet gracious disappearance. “Feyre,” I said again because I wasn’t quite believing this.

“Yes,” she nodded, swallowing. “I’m here.”

“I can’t believe it. Tamlin would never…Why—How—?

She stiffened almost imperceptibly at the name, a gesture that would have gone unnoticed by anyone else. “Tamlin doesn’t know. He and Lucien left a few days ago to meet with the King of Hybern and refused to take me with them.”

It didn’t surprise me. Tamlin, the stubborn bastard, would never change his ways. It seemed he still thought of Feyre as a precious, porcelain doll, the typical damsel in distress that couldn’t handle anything other than hosting parties and bearing children. The thought had my jaw clenching in anger.

Feyre gently squeezed my hand, pulling me from that dark place I was close to entering.

“And they haven’t hurt you? You’re truly okay?” I had to know. Eight months without hearing anything from her had me slowly losing my mind. What if something had happened and I didn’t know?

She nodded. “I had to refrain from communicating with you, Rhysand because…Because there are things that I’ve had to do that I would never want you to see or know about.” Feyre swallowed, tearing her gaze from mine as if ashamed.

I had a very good guess as to some of the things she had to do to keep up the facade that she was still infatuated with the High Asshole of the Spring Court, and I couldn’t deny that the images that flashed in my mind made me want to go find him and play with his mind until he’d need that lapdog Lucien of his to wipe his ass for him, but I could see that Feyre was upset. I could tell that despite knowing that what she was doing was invaluable to the future of Prythian, she felt disgusted at herself for having done these things.

So I pulled her closer, my fingers gently tipping her chin up to meet my eyes. “Feyre, there is not a thing in this world that would ever tempt me to think of you differently. What you have done, what you have to do…believe me, I understand it all.” A tear raced down her cheek, but she kept her gaze on me. “And if I could take your place I would. In less than a heartbeat, I swear I would.”

My thumb gently wiped the tear away, though it was quickly followed by another. “I’m sorry,” she softly apologized.

I shook my head. “There’s nothing to apologize for.” And just because i couldn’t stand to see her cry I added, “Although, if there is anything you should be apologizing for, it’s those naughty little images you tended to enjoy sending in the middle of the night.”

Feyre laughed, a full, head-tilted back laugh that filled both the room and my soul while taking my breathe away. “Are you saying you didn’t enjoy them?” She lifted an arched brow. The question was a territory I’d have to tread lightly on as although there was amusement lighting up her eyes, there was a much darker emotion hiding in them as well.

My arms circled around her waist, trapping her so that she was nearly flush against my body. I lowered my lips to her neck, breath fanning over her skin before reaching her ear. “Oh, I very much enjoyed them. Would you like to know why?”

“Enlighten me,” she purred.

“It’s because, Feyre, darling, I got to make up a bit of a list every time you sent me one of those images. A list of all the things I’d do to you once you returned as retribution.”

“Oh really?”

“If my memory serves me correctly,” I purred, my grip on her tightening, “I promised that  the next time we had a moment to ourselves, I’d fuck you.”

I pulled back, meeting her eyes. All trace of amusement had vanished, leaving behind only lust. A corner of her lips lifted slightly and I braced myself before she said, “I believe there was mention of a wall.”

I was a breath away from replying with an equally venereal retort when a thunderous BOOM! sounded, so loud I could have sworn the walls shook.

Immediately, one name came to mind.

Tamlin.

100% there are teachers at st Bart’s that think butler is artemis’ step dad. Pre series butler was definitely the only one showing up to parent teacher night and the teachers probably just assumed that butler married Angeline, got divorced after Juliet was born, and then stepped in to raise Artemis at some point (bc it’s canon that Artemis looks very similar to his father). Artemis corrects people initially but eventually like??? He comes to the conclusion that Hell Yeah Butler is dad 2.0. “Butler come to my parent teacher night so u can hear how clever I am. Tell me which of my teachers u hate bc I despise all of them and have my notes ready for when we Talk Shit”

shounenchild  asked:

Hi I'm dying over here. I didn't realize that some people didn't know that every single character's name in Dragon Ball is a pun??? The families even have trends. All the Son's are food, Briefs are undies, the Piccolo line is instruments, Videl's family is gods/religious, etc. That's also what makes Pan's name so clever! She's a food for the Gohan and the Sons (Bread), a god for Videl and the Satans (Pan was a greek god)- she's even an instrument for her father's mentor, Piccolo (a pan flute).

Haha yeah exactly!!! :D thanks for detailing all of that! I really like how the names all have themes!

people who don’t like the rushed feel and jagged story line of Sana’s story are justified in their complaints tbh.

like, i get that this is the last season and julie has to wrap up the loose threads and round up certain characters’ archs and whatnot. but. it’s so bitter that it had to be done at SANA’s season, you know? because it’s eating away at the time that could be spent at her, and making the fandom wrapped up in everything that seems to be.not.about.her.

and i always have this niggling thought in the back of my head that this season wasn’t specifically written for me, a muslim arab girl living in norway. like, wohoo, it’s great representation and all, but it’s also like……. like the fact that the news decided to report about how julie andem had done research within muslim communities by first and foremost interviewing an ethnically norwegian woman who had converted to Islam. it might not be true, but it’s just the fact that the news decided to focus on that part, as if interviewing a muslim immigrant or with immigrant background (read: not white) would somehow be less legitimate.

it’s like the fact that when we got a whole new squad introduced to us, five beautiful boys of color, somehow the only posts that got around was theories about their connection to even.

it’s like the fact that some of you think that it’s clever that the season is focusing on everyone else beside sana bc she’s so attentive!! and perceptive!! and always put others before herself!!

like, narratively, it can be defended that this is actually quite clever. a lot of white/non-muslim people seem to be angry and sad and feel empathic towards sana, so when she finally has enough, people will actually side with her rather than villanize her, as you’re all so prone and fast to do with characters of color.

but that’s just what i mean. this constant push to sideline sana in her own story to listen to whites and reassure them, to be a shoulder for everyone to cry on, while she’s breaking apart inside, feels like it’s specifically directed towards the white viewers to reassure them of sana’s humanity. and it’s a nice touch too, to show sana’s vulnerable side. but i don’t need that reminder, i know that us muslim girls are not the meek stereotype people project on us, or only the tough exterior sana shows. but it goes to show that the main drive this season is to drive the fact that muslims are people too? which is not a bad thing!! i don’t know how else it could’ve worked bc white people just can’t wrap their head around the humanity around poc i guess.

ahaha, it’s so ironic that the tagline that’s been pushed around has been; how will sana balance norwegian and muslim culture? when i’m a norwegian muslim, those things are not separate, stuhfgup

and the fact that every friend around her is white is so………………………………………. unrealistic. holy fuck, 1 of 5 people in oslo is not white. the biggest groups of immigrants are from Poland, followed by Somalia, Sweden, Iraq and Pakistan. why the fuck do we not see sana hanging out with any muslim girls? you know, some nice girls that could maybe show some empathy for her struggles? she does go to masjid, and it’s not like oslo lacks muslims lmao. i wanna see her interact with jamilah and the hijab police again. why are they called ‘the hijab police’? (why are they the only black girls we’ve seen in this series, and also immediately villainized when introduced? Somali girls probably make up the largest percentage of hijabis in norway, time to give them some positive rep too, chop chop!)

i want to see sana play basket. want to see her play once in physical ed. and destroy the other team. want to see her talk and hang out with other girls of color at grønland, eating burger at max while talking about the new Beauty and The Beast live action. want to see her sit against the wall in the masjid talking to other girls as they wait for the adhan, complaining about school and grades and food and classmates and stress and clothes, because holy fuck, do they not sell clothes that are not see-through or half-revealing for women anymore?

want to see the fandom to see and appreciate her as her own character, not only as “savage queen” (what a fucking caricature, also see: subtext racist) or the one who helps every other white character.

i want to see her narrative be completely and wholly her own.

I know my post is kinda long but you can edit in a readmore for me if you want. ^ ^; ♥ It's just that it's only gained three reblogs so far and I think it'll gain more of a following if someone with some influence reblogged it. ^ ^; ♥ Plus I've never done this before and I haven't really gotten any feedback so like I'm kinda scared? ^ ^; ♥ That I'm being ableist to myself? ^ ^; ♥ For trying to think of a clever way of coding a character with my own disability "mewman style" and (2)

I don’t know if it works or if my writing is just bad or what anyone is thinking when they see it, especially other people with disabilities and it’s making me worried and all I can really do is throw headcanons out there because I don’t have any “evidence”, only Eclipsa sitting and I feel really silly because all I can do is make up a story so that people will constantly want to draw her that way and I don’t know if I’m offending anyone in trying to make a metaphor for my own disability(3)

and I know we’ve never talked, but I feel like I’ve been acting like this, jealous brat towards you the entire time and maybe that’s why ppl didn’t reblog the ask I sent you when I asked? Because they didn’t like my tone and now making the actual post about it and sending these asks is only gonna make things worse? ^ ^; ♥ I dunno, maybe I’m being paranoid. ^ ^; ♥ But I’d just really feel more comfortable if I had some more feedback an’ reblogs. ^ ^; ♥ I mentioned starbutterflyisautistic and (4)

marcodiazisatransgirl and they haven’t responded and I’m too afraid to put the Disabled Queen of Darkness post in the main show tag, because it’s gross. ^ ^; ♥ And now I’m feeling discouraged because Eclipsa’s tags are being bombard with (still) abled bodied (skinny) fanart of her and of course the “TOFFEE IS ECLIPSA’S SON AND ALSO THE MONSTER!!” bull gonk and I’m just like “/This/ is what I stayed up for? For you to ignore me?” And I even got an ask basically complaining it was harder for(5)

(7)like, HE was was the first thing that officially put this show OVER Steven Universe for me, when I thought it already WAS bc Star her was already so relatable to me as a disabled person, which is why I love the autism headcanon.♥ But Toby himself didn’t get any cute side character appreciation posts, no fanart as far as I know, nothin’. And what’s more? I THOUGHT I’D NEVER SEE HIM AGAIN. But who do I get to see in the final? Not only Toby, having a good time, BUT ANOTHER KID IN A WHEELCHAIR?

AS IF I HAVEN’T CRIED ENOUGH ALREADY?! AND THEY GET TO BE THE “BAD KIDS”?! THE “IMPERFECT KIDS”???? Just having a fucking party on THE ROOF???? LIKE IT’S NOTHING???!!!! LIKE I WANT TO ASK DARON HOW DID THESE FUCKING KIDS GET THESE TWO OTHER KIDS IN WHEELCHAIRS ON THE ROOF?! Because the abled bodied bad kids care about accessibility for their Cpunks, that’s why. I just … it was a magical moment for me, okay? I’m dying my hair back 2 blonde so I can be an actual Star on Wheels ♥ (Continued ♥)

Daron Nefcy treats me like a person. ♥ She not only got my tastes both mentally and atheistically, but then a kid in a wheelchair happened, and he’s black. ♥ And all he wanted was a remote to his wrestling, and he played that girl in order to get it. Did you see how fast he came out of those waterworks? That was a set up, Janna was in on it. He was was one of the gang and I couldn’t believe this was actually happening. ♥ Then, in the final, I get to see him AGAIN, along with another cpunk(con)

that include wands used as joysticks and Eclipsa’s chapter symbol on HER wheels as well. ♥ People know they should do it and this is the first time in a fandom I feel comfortable asking for it and theirs canonical characters on the show so there’s no reason not to give me art and fic for it. Especially Eclipsa, whom we have no way of knowing she’s abled bodied. LET ME HAVE MY DISABLED QUEEN OF DARKNESS,FANDOM. STOP DRAWING HER SKINNY AND ABLED BODIED!!!! LET HER BE LIKE CHERRY IN A CHAIRY!!!!

Honestly I really really hope they do go this route, especially with the possibility of Eclipsa turning out to be a positive role model for Star and many, many hints that the ‘Queen of Darkness’ may not be as bad as the reputation Mewni has given her.

I want to see a female Doctor Who. I want to see someone with 900 years of experience of presenting as a white man, suddenly having to navigate the world as a woman. I want The Doctor to walk into an emergency situation and start taking control as always, and being dismissed out of hand, and being totally thrown by it. I want the Doctor to realise that even with psychic paper people are going to be suspicious and questioning of their expertise. I want to see The Doctor being mistaken for their assistant. I want to watch The Doctor, as they realise that people didn’t just listen to them because they were clever, or right, but because they presented as a man. And come to terms with that, and fight back against the institutionalised sexism, whilst also fighting aliens I guess?

So yeah, I was watching some first season New-Who today and just thinking “I wonder how this scene would have played out if The Doctor were a woman.” and yeah. Food for Thought.

On the Necessity of Phil Gasmer

I recently saw someone suggest that rather than wasting time on Phil Gasmer, we should have been introduced straight-away to Evil!Rip Hunter.

I very strongly disagree with this.  Because Phil Gasmer serves a very important narrative point in Rip’s story arc.

Phil Gasmer shows us exactly who Rip is when everything’s been ripped away from him.  It shows us that even without his knowledge, his experience, his wit and composure, Rip is a kind, courageous, clever and honorable person.  And that at his deepest core, he loves his team.

We really got to meet Phil Gasmer in the span of a day, or maybe a few days, depending on how long the Legion had him before they got the disc.

During that time, we saw that he was making a movie of his experiences with the team.  That he’d made Sara, or well “Sandra” the lead.  We know that Jax, or “Max” also had a very significant role.  And if Jax’s reaction is any indication, the rest of the team was treated favorably as well.

Even when he has no idea who they really are, “Phil” imagines his team to be his heroes.

Then during the course of the episode, he is terrorized, falsely arrested, and kidnapped out of an interrogation room by a man pretending to be his psychologist.  He is knocked out and abducted and told everything he believes about his life is a lie.  While they insult him to his face, by the way.

And then still, when the team is caught in the lurch trying to get the spear, he steps forward.  He walks willingly into danger to help these strangers.

We needed to see Phil Gasmer.  Because we needed to see who the core of Rip Hunter actually is.  He might be anxious, he might be bumbling and clumsy, but he is so brave and wonderful.

And we needed to see him because we needed to see exactly what Eobard took away from Rip.

Evil!Rip isn’t courageous.  He’s not a coward of course, but he isn’t courageous.  He doesn’t push through fear.  He doesn’t seem to feel enough to be afraid in the first place.

Evil!Rip isn’t honorable.  In the first five minutes, he lured the team into an ambush, shorted out Gideon, the Waverider, and Firestorm.  Neutralized Ray and Mick, and shot Sara point blank.  The most you can say about him is that he didn’t shoot her in the head, for an instant-kill.

Evil!Rip got to keep the intellect and cleverness.  But he lost the kindness, compassion and his love for his team.

And really, given some people in this fanbase, we had to see Phil so that we wouldn’t see any arguments about brainwashing revealing who Rip really is.  We saw Rip stripped down to who he is at the core BEFORE Eobard recreated him.  Evil!Rip is a facsimile.

I’ve said before that I think Legends season 2 is providing us with an amazing deconstruction of their lead character.  First, we see him at his best.  (Out of Time).  Then we see some examination of his strengths as a leader by watching Martin take his place (JSA).  We get to see how well he’s trained his team, by watching them function without his direct oversight (Shogun through Chicago Way).  We get to see him stripped down to his core, without memories, recourse, or support.  (Raiders of the Lost Art, Legion of Doom).  And now we see exactly how scary he would be without the traits that make him human.  (Turncoat).

Phil is a vitally important part of this entire process.  And I am glad to have gotten to meet him.  :-)
