Yesterday I found myself wondering who I’d add to the MCU if I was to make and all-female Avengers team. Then the answer came naturally. No one. The MCU has all it need already.
Pepper Potts as the Superior Rescue Betty Ross as the Sensational Red She-Hulk Jane Foster as Thor, Godess of Thunder Sharon Carter as Agent 13, the Most Wanted Spy in the World Natasha Romanoff as Black Widow, the Russian Avenger Wanda Maximoff as the Scarlet Witch, Mistress of the Mystic Arts Helen Cho as Mastermind Excello, Seventh Biggest Genius in the World Hope Van Dyne as the Wondrous Wasp Maria Hill as Director Hill, head of S.H.I.E.L.D. The nameless Dora Milaje as Okoye
↳get to know me:favorite female characters → the ghibli girls “Many of my movies have strong female leads – brave, self-sufficient girls that don’t think twice about fighting for what they believe in with all their heart. They’ll need a friend, or a supporter, but never a savior. Any woman is just as capable of being a hero as any man.”(– Hayao Miyazaki)
I work at Hot Topic and today I was checking someone out and her phone started ringing. Her ringtone was the Yuri On Ice theme song.
As soon as the first note played, myself and multiple other employees recognized it and next thing you know there are various Hot Topic workers running to my register absolutely BELTING OUT THE THEME SONG.
The woman silenced her phone but my coworkers KEPT SINGING. Then the woman joined in, as did I, and some random other customers.
THAT, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IS HOW ANIME BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER. THAT IS ALL.

If you’re a privileged person trying to combat your unconsciously prejudiced views of the world, absolutely congratulate yourself when you notice you’ve made progress–but don’t expect other people to put their energy into giving you a pat on the back. You are working on being a better person because you owe that to other people.
“I wish people wouldn’t just see me as the Asian girl who beats everyone up, or the Asian girl with no emotion. People see Julia Roberts or Sandra Bullock in a romantic comedy, but not me. You add race to it, and it became, ‘Well, she’s too Asian’, or, ‘She’s too American’. I kind of got pushed out of both categories. It’s a very strange place to be. You’re not Asian enough and then you’re not American enough, so it gets really frustrating.”
the original adventure time animated short turned 10 years old today! (january 11th 2017)
i drew this in celebration! a couple of these characters you might notice weren’t in the pilot. i used an old unused design for bmo (when they were named ‘raye’) and based marceline off of the original series pitch design!
So Chibiusa is 900 years old but her parents never notice her weird thing about her father?
Much as I’m hating Black Lady sucking face with her future father (AND OH I DO), I do see where it’s more complicated than that. Or at least In how I’m choosing to interpret it, let me say. I have absolutely no confidence in Takeuchi’s writing nuance, and so don’t know how much of this I would say is incidental and how much is intentional.
In the context of 900-year old Chibi-Usa (MY ETERNAL FAVE), Black Lady has really only improved on the situation in one way: physically. Her body is adult, but her emotional maturity is still about eight years old. I don’t know that many of Black Lady’s actions don’t stem from a child “playing” at being adult now.
You hear things like “I’m going to marry daddy when I grow up” from little kids, and it doesn’t mean they literally want to bone their dad, it’s a child’s lack of understanding of different forms of love and the nature of a marriage, and a bunch of shit they literally can’t understand yet because they’re a child.
So as much as I’m against 900-year old Chibs (AND I AM), and as much as I want to throw up when I see them kiss (AND I DO), I don’t see it as Chibs having “a weird thing about her father” (and this isn’t even necessarily her father in her eyes because it’s Mamoru, though I agree her renaming him Endymion is intensely wtf) so much as just Chibi-Usa being very young and very alone and very confused and trying to act like she thinks she’s “supposed” to act now that she’s suddenly become “an adult”.
HAVING SAID ALL OF THIS
Even if this WAS Takeuchi’s intent – something I am not at all convinced of – I think she did a piss poor job with it. Black Lady has been fanatically devoted to Wiseman throughout this, which dulls the personal edge from any of her actions, making them seem more “because I’m evil” than “because I am Chibi-Usa and this is how I’m hurting”.
Chibs hasn’t shown this jealousy over or need to “claim” Mamoru at all. She’s really been nothing but sweet to Usagi and doesn’t seem to mind Mamoru spending time with her at all. Her motivations here would actually make more sense if she and Usagi had been bickering over him, though gods know I loathe that shit and would never invite it.
The impetus for Chibs running away and being caught by Wiseman in the first place was driven by Pluto, and yet none of this is about Pluto. I feel this is the greatest misstep in the whole thing. Black Lady hasn’t even brought Pluto up. She immediately targeted Mamoru and then seemed satisfied, but that’s an avenue she never had to fight to win. Mamoru willingly gave Chibs everything she needed whenever she needed it. It feels to me like, once again, the conflict has to be turned towards keeping Usagi and Mamoru at its center, by default making it NOT about Chibi-Usa, which feels the saddest fucking thing of all, frankly.
I REALIZE I’M GOING WAY OFF-TOPIC HERE I APOLOGIZE. Just, to my eyes, story would be so much more dynamic and interesting and with 100% less deep-throat father kissing if Black Lady had turned her attention to the one person Chibs felt the most betrayed by, the one person in all the world she thought was hers and only hers.
Wendy knocked on the Mystery
Shack door. She was expecting Stan to
open it, but to her surprise, it was Soos.
“Hey, dude!” Soos said
excitedly, pulling her into a hug.
“Hey, Soos,” Wendy said,
attempting to break from Soos’ intense embrace.
“What are you doing here? Aren’t
you supposed to be spending Thanksgiving with Abuelita?”
“Nah, she went on a day trip
with some of the other ladies from her Bingo Night,” Soos said.
“Oh. That sucks.”
“It just means I get to spend
Thanksgiving at my favorite place on Earth!”
Wendy looked the ramshackle dwelling over.
“…That’s one way to describe the
Shack,” she said slowly. “Mr. Pines said
that he had a lumberjack emergency and I was the cheapest person he could find
on short notice. What’s going on?”
“Oh, right. The ‘lumberjack emergency’,” Soos said,
making air quotes. Wendy squinted at
“Seriously, dude. What’s going on?”
“Come on in, you’ll see,” Soos
said gleefully. He moved aside so that
she could walk into the shack. Wendy
walked in carefully. Within a few steps,
she had been immersed in a cornucopia of holiday scents.
“Did Mr. Pines spring for
holiday-themed candles or something?” she asked. “It actually smells…nice in here.”
“Please,” someone scoffed from
the kitchen. Wendy looked over. She couldn’t decide whether to be amused or
confused by the sight of Stan Pines in an apron and large oven mitts. “Everyone knows that scented candles are a
conspiracy by the EPA.”
“Uh…what?” Wendy said. Stan waved a gloved hand.
“It’d take too long to tell you
right now. If you want, I’ll tell you
over turkey, though.”
“Turkey?” Wendy looked back and forth between Stan and
“Haven’t you figured it out,
yet, kid?” Stan asked.
“Figured what out?” Wendy
asked. Soos looked at Stan eagerly.
“Can I tell her?”
“Yeah, sure. I gotta check on the sweet potatoes,” Stan
said, turning his back and going into the kitchen.
“Sweet potatoes?” Wendy muttered
to herself, confused.
“Dude, it’s Thanksgiving at the
Mystery Shack!” Soos enthused.
“Well, yeah, today’s
Thanksgiving. And we’re at the Mystery
“Hot damn,” Wendy said
quietly. She frowned at Soos. “Why?”
“Last year, Mr. Pines overheard
you say that your family doesn’t do ‘traditional Thanksgiving’.”
“Yeah, chopping down the largest
sycamore you can find, carving it into an animal, and then hunting your own
dinner is pretty different from watching a football game. Or whatever it is normal families do.”
“Mr. Pines also heard you say
that you weren’t gonna be doing the Thanksgiving thing your family does this
“I said that a month ago! He remembered?”
“I have to help him find his pants
when he loses them, but he remembers something I said to Tambry a month ago?”
“Yeah!” Wendy looked over at the kitchen. She could hear Stan humming. Humming.
“But why is he doing all this? He’s a grumpy old man; he shouldn’t be making
us dinner.” Soos put an arm around Wendy’s
“Dude, he’s like a candy. Hard on the outside, soft on the inside.”
“Uh-huh. I don’t buy it. Why is he really
doing this?” Wendy said, crossing her arms.
“You wanna know the truth, dude?”
“I think he’s lonely.” Wendy blinked.
“Yeah. He gets like this around the holidays a
lot. And around June, for some reason,
too. I think he misses spending time
with his family.”
“Then why doesn’t he call them?” Soos looked at her. Wendy blinked, realization sinking in. “You think that we’re his-”
“Maybe I’m imagining things,”
Soos said with a shrug. “But he’s always
been there for me. Even when he pretends
to not care, it’s pretty obvious he does.”
Wendy thought back to the little things that Stan would do sometimes,
like giving her a raise to “get the IRS off his back” at around the time her
family was low on cash. Or “cleaning out
his fridge” when her dad worked long hours and no one at home could cook meals.
“Huh. I never noticed that before.”
“Don’t tell him I told you,
though. He likes to pretend he’s a tough
guy, when deep down, he’s a sap just like the rest of us,” Soos said
“Soos, Wendy, get in here! The turkey’s gonna get cold.”
Honestly, as weird and niche as JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is, there’s such a wide variety of locations and genres in each part, that it’s almost impossible to find something in it that doesn’t really resonate with you.
-Part 1 we got superpower kung-fu mixed with classic horror all set in Victorian England
-Part 2 we got ancient Aztec sci-fi mixed with Nazi conspiracy sci-fi with more kung-fu set in various locations (mostly Italy) around WW2
-Part 3 we got 1980′s version of Around the World in 80 days, and from here on out everybody now beats the tar out of each other with imaginary friends
-Part 4 is a slice-of-life/action/comedy/murder mystery set in one town in Japan in 1999
-Part 5 is set in 2001 in Italy and focuses on a FABULOUS squad of mafiosos trying to rise up in ranks in their gang and overthrow the kingpin
-Part 6 is a prison drama set in Florida in 2011. Features a (badass rad) female protag with some other badass rad ladies.
-Part 7 is an AU/reboot set in late 1800′s America and is about a horse race across the continental U.S.
-Part 8 continues the AU/reboot in Japan in 2011 after the Tohoku Earthquake. Mostly a mystery with action, comedy, and drama interwoven. Largely regarded as The Weirdest One (and it’s not even done yet).
All this variety and it still manages to be one cohesive story, with characters and elements from previous parts making returns and other callbacks to show that each part is connected in some way, and built upon one another.
Hey there, I'm looking for some Dark Dramione fics preferably with a HAE but that's not necessary. What do you recommend?
So these are my dark(ish) dramione:
Without Her Letter A decision is made to protect Muggle-borns from the continual war by not inviting them to Hogwarts. This was, perhaps, not a wise choice. Hermione Granger was certainly not amused.
