Soho Harry

Harry Styles just completely captures everything that is soho NYC and I just don’t understand how he doesn’t spend more time there? Imagine the pictures we could have if he was there everyday.

- gazing at art, galleries and street.

- morning runs at Central Park

- getting some morning tea from the leafy Nomo

- the aesthetically pleasing back drops of cobble streets and exposed brick

- having a earthy lunch at The Smile

- going to pristine bars after sundown

- stumbling back to his studio apartment that sickeningly resembles an urban outfitters

Donald Judd’s 101 Spring Street, New York
“Art and architecture—all the arts—do not have to exist in isolation, as they do now. This fault is very much a key to the present society. Architecture is nearly gone, but it, art, all the arts, in fact all parts of society, have to be rejoined, and joined more than they have ever been.” – Donald Judd, 1986

I really love your blog!!!! Are there other shows that you could recommend besides SKAM?

Aw thank you sweets!🌻 And yeah I do have a few I can recommend!

The Get Down
Short summary
The Get Down focuses on 1970s New York City - broken down and beaten up, violent, cash strapped – dying. Consigned to rubble, a rag-tag crew of South Bronx teenagers are nothings and nobodies with no one to shelter them - except each other, armed only with verbal games, improvised dance steps, some magic markers and spray cans. From Bronx tenements, to the SoHo art scene; from CBGBs to Studio 54 and even the glass towers of the just-built World Trade Center, The Get Down is a mythic saga of how New York at the brink of bankruptcy gave birth to hip-hop, punk and disco – told through the lives and music of the South Bronx kids who changed the city, and the world…forever.
Personal opinion
This show man. This show is so so good and my absolute fave as of right now! It wasn’t that long ago since I saw it for the first time but I in fact heard about it last year in the summer when it first got released but didn’t got myself to watch it and tbh I REGRET IT SO MUCH THAT I DIDN’T! And it’s written by Baz Luhrmann (!!!) and one of the executive producers is in fact Nas and he has even made some of the music for the show! And damn, the music itself!!! It’s so good and I even have the soundtrack on quite a lot! Overall, I totally recommend it to see it! You won’t regret it one bit and also a big plus for the poc representation and the history of hiphop!!

Dear white people
I couldn’t find a good summary of this but it’s also really really good! It tackles a lot of important issues regarding racism and violence towards black people especially and the representation in this is also really good! If you want to learn a thing or two about society, racism and privilege then I totally recommend this show! There’s 10 episodes and each episode is 30 min so it’s goes by quite quick if you’re interested in something that’s quite quick to watch!

Breaking bad
Short summary
A high school chemistry teacher diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer turns to manufacturing and selling methamphetamine in order to secure his family’s future.
Personal opinion
This show is one of my hands down favorite of all time. It was my high school show that I would watch after school and damn the storytelling in this is just beyond words. It’s because of shows like these that I want to write my own. The suspense, twist and turns kept me hooked through all the seasons till the very last episode and wow, I’ll never forget how empty I was when I finished it. I’m quite eager to rewatch it again and hopefully I will once I’m done with the gazillion other shows that I have to watch!!

Orphan Black
Short summary
A streetwise hustler is pulled into a compelling conspiracy after witnessing the suicide of a girl who looks just like her.
Personal opinion
AHHH another show that’s one of my top faves and also an inspiration for me as a writer! And I feel pretty much the same about this show in the way I did with Breaking bad. The twists, turns and suspense killed me when I watched it the first time!! Another great amazing show with an amazing talented cast and… sigh if you’re into scifi then you’re definitely going to get hooked at the very beginning!

I know these recommendations is quite different from Skam but these are the ones that I have near and dear to my heart! It’s literally my top favorites and I hope at least 1 of them will make you appealed to watch! They’re all available on Netflix as well if you happen to have that!! All the love and thank you again for your kind words!!
