The computer programmer is a creator of universes for which he alone is the lawgiver. No playwright, no stage director, no emperor, however powerful, has ever exercised such absolute authority to arrange a stage or field of battle and to command such unswervingly dutiful actors or troops.
I saw my life branching out before me like the green fig tree in the story. From the tip of every branch, like a fat purple fig, a wonderful future beckoned and winked. One fig was a husband and a happy home and children, and another fig was a famous poet and another fig was a brilliant professor, and another fig was Ee Gee, the amazing editor, and another fig was Europe and Africa and South America, and another fig was Constantin and Socrates and Attila and a pack of other lovers with queer names and offbeat professions, and another fig was an Olympic lady crew champion, and beyond and above these figs were many more figs I couldn’t quite make out.
I saw myself sitting in the crotch of this fig tree, starving to death, just because I couldn’t make up my mind which of the figs I would choose. I wanted each and every one of them, but choosing one meant losing all the rest, and, as I sat there, unable to decide, the figs began to wrinkle and go black, and, one by one, they plopped to the ground at my feet.
We’re all human and flaws come out every now and then but, if you want to be positive in your day, if you want to be positive in your life, in your job, try and celebrate the little things. If you do something that’s just like, nothing. If you write down your to-do-list for the day celebrate that. Be happy in what you do, be proud of the little things that you do each day, I think. (…) You just kinda have to go out there and just do it. You have to go out there and grab life while you can. Go out there and make the most of the time that you have. Cause you only get one trip around on this big wheel of life, you don’t get a do-over. You don’t get to wait around for the good things to happen. You have to make the good things for yourself happen now. You have to try and be as happy as you can be in the scenario that you’re in. Not always possible, some people have it very very hard to be happy, some people are in completely terrible and rough, dire situations and I very much sympathies with that and that’s- again, there’s a lot more nuance to this. It’s not just as simple as being “Go out there and be happy”. There’s a lot more to life than just being positive but if I can motivate people or give some sort of semblance of advice towards that kind of aspect then I will try my best but just know that it’s okay if you’re not positive all the time. It just means that you’re HUMAN
“Virtual reality consists of a dichotomous paradox, torn between its ontological status which locates it as a part of the real and its aesthetic, through which it demonstrates its difference from the real.” ― Gabriella Giannachi
My editing skills aren’t the best as I only have cheap software and no experience, but here’s some George Crabtree for your dash anyway because we are in the final countdown, only a week until Murdoch!!
