societal woes

freedom of speech
but i still try to watch
my mouth so that
you’re not offended.
freedom is my soul
but we’ve given up nature
to be commercialized
if my soul is up for grabs
i guess my heart is next
if sex sells then my lips
must have a price tag
and if your breasts don’t
fit his fetish i guess
he’ll pay in order to be satisfied
with your body, oh the irony
and they say that nothing’s
wrong in a society where
jail and prison is just another
business that’ll grow as crime rates
don’t stop and as long as we keep buying
someone’s going to get locked up
and we’re not alone, yet
we’re powerless when
we work against each other
if racism is dead then
why was my mother called
a chink recently by a black kid
down the street? children
don’t grow up mean,
we learn subtle cues from our parents,
our role models. money isn’t evil,
but we can make it deadly.
play the beer ads with
the world’s most interesting man
drinking it, i’ll give up my livers.
design a new phone and a new watch,
my wallet, you can have it too
so i can keep up with my friends
and how much fun they’re having
while sharing it on facebook,
there’s nothing wrong with a little love,
but you’ve got to love yourself enough
to see problems in a system.
it’s not perfect, it’s not perfect,
but it must work, right?
and if debt is out of hand
while we have people living
on the streets, are we too screwed
to fix things? in one way or another,
we’ve already bombed ourselves
out of existence. it’s sad really.
supply my heart more chains
and i’ll demand for imprisonment.
less trees for birds to sing,
less forests for tigers to hunt,
less flowers for bees to pollinate,
we’re so far from this place.
we turned earth into a scary place,
and venting about society
won’t fix the pieces inside of me,
or you. i guess it starts with who
we’d want to be instead of who
society says that we should be
and everyone has their share
of problems, we can’t build a bridge
if we’re on fire. we can’t stop world hunger
if we’ve got children hungry within ourselves.
we have classes for world history,
but not a single fucking course
on how to love yourself.
it’s assumed. you were taught these things
at home. like everyone has a perfect home.
you show up to school on time everyday,
you must be stable, you must be okay.
so we have school shootings because
he wasn’t loved enough, a world filled
with constant struggles, we know more
about the Kardashians than we know
who we want to be when we grow up.
it’s sad really. what’s right or wrong
if it’s played in the songs? we’re still
growing, so i guess that’s worth noting.
and i pray that we never stop growing.
we must learn how to love the guy
who worships another god,
even if he’s black that doesn’t mean
that he’s after you, even if he’s white
it doesn’t mean that he’ll oppress you,
even if he’s asian it doesn’t mean
that you should assume he’s chinese,
even if he speaks spanish
it doesn’t mean that he’s a mexican.
it starts kinda small actually,
it starts with the children.
what are they watching nowadays?
what are they really doing on those ipads?
how much are we really teaching them
while we’re rushing to make coffee in a society that’s addicted to caffeine? i’m not better
than anyone, but i can see the problem
even if i wake up every morning
and do nothing about it. just because
we don’t talk about it, it doesn’t mean that it’s not there. oh it’s there. it’s not money.
it’s the people who regulates it.
it’s just business, right?
fuck it, we’ll just make more money out
of thin air. and then one day,
the money’s going to run out.
one day, people will stop using it.
one day, the richest people will become
poor too. one day, it’ll start all over.
and i pray, that one day.
if it does happen, we’ll be given
a second chance to not fuck things up.
if we’re lucky, we’ll learn how to love
even if it’s not worth loving.
maybe rape cases won’t be shrugged off.
maybe skin won’t matter as much
and gender won’t matter too.
maybe social constructs will be
less constraining once we notice it
enough times, confined by our
own self beliefs like as long as
it doesn’t hurt me, it doesn’t matter.
there is a certain kindness
that we lack as a whole,
have you seen roadkill lately?
numb to the sight.
once you’ve been told something
enough times, even lies
start to become the truth.
tell a child that he’s average
and won’t amount to much
and he’ll most likely grow up
feeling like he’s average and
won’t amount to much.
tell a child that he’s special
and unique and he might grow up
feeling special and unique everyday.
it really does start with you.
you can change the world
even if it means you’ll need
to change yourself first.
—  societal woes

Many think that redistribution of wealth is the answer to alleviating our societal and economical woes. I say this isn’t possible without the accompanying wide distribution of connectivity, and education. So long as widespread ignorance persists, there will always be a ruling class and an underclass. Redistribution of wealth and resources will always be perverted under a pervasive undercurrent of complacency. The elite banks on our general laziness, and when they get the hint that we may be waking up to their game, they regroup and aggressively work to divide us … This simple formula always works as many special interests are complicit in this agenda and have been for decades …

It’s high time we start seeing, nurturing and preserving the extraordinary within ourselves … One way to do this, is by treating it as though it were perfectly ordinary before we  predictably turn on each other and collectively pay the price.

New Hampshire State Lawmaker Accused Of Online Misogyny Faces Expulsion

The New Hampshire state Legislature is deciding whether to discipline one of its members for his role in setting up a misogynistic online forum.

Two-term Republican Rep. Robert Fisher, 31, was identified last month by The Daily Beast as the creator of the Reddit community The Red Pill, which champions so-called “pickup artists” and blames feminism for societal woes. (The forum takes its name from a scene in the 1999 film The Matrix in which Keanu Reeves’ character, Neo, is offered a choice between a red pill, which represents reality, and a blue pill, which represents illusion.)

Testifying before a state House committee Tuesday, Fisher argued that his online statements revealed by the Daily Beast investigation — including comments deriding women’s intelligence, detailing ways for men to dodge rape accusations and questioning whether rape itself was wholly bad — have been misreported and misconstrued.

Can I ask why your getting sick of tumblr culture?

I’m tired of everything being a mountain out of a molehill.
These crusades against something or for something that turn out to be totally mediocre.

It’s this celebration of laziness and dread of responsibility that really gets to me.  Like, look how many artists just make cartoons with over 100,000 notes of “LOL, I am too lazy to do any work!  Fuck being an adult!”

Anything related to a progressive stance is met with “I’m crying actual tears!” and gifs of crying women.  I’m just tired of the emotional fickleness of everything here!  Like how people act so surprised at obvious developments and make things seem so much worse than they are.

The thing is, everyone on this site wants to act like an individual by liking the exact same thing!  Everyone acts like the half shaven haircut is this cool underground haircut when so many people have it now!  Make up your own style and be different!

Or how about how fans of stuff won’t discover new things to love and just wait til they appear in a movie or shit?  Hell, how much you want to bet that Mary Jane will suddenly be beloved by fans after they spent years of shitting on her cause Emma Stone Gwen Stacy?  Or how about the fact that I could probably guess most fans on here favorite characters with just a few guesses?

Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of really cool people on here, and there are some great friends I’ve met who I’d love to meet some day.

But I hate this pretentiousness of everything.  That films are somehow cultural landmarks instead of just fucking entertainment.  “We can’t let this Ghostbusters film fail!  Give more money to it!” Are you insane?!  If you like the film, thats great!  But don’t act like a movie is going to suddenly solve all your societal woes!  Don’t act like a few pictures of young kids dressed up as characters are your gage of social movements!

There is so much more this site could achieve with millions of people working together, but they don’t!  They’re just lazy! and instead of creating projects or collaborating, they just verbally harass people!

I JUST HATE ALL THIS PRETENTIOUSNESS!  It’s not making you a better person and it’s not making you happier in life!

I’ll leave it at that for now, but I’m so sick of people throwing parades for just being part of a movement that’s manufactured by companies to eat your money.

Guardians of the Galaxy was a movie unashamedly and sincerely about “The Power of Friendship”. It didn’t try to be a complicated work discussing the plight of the human condition or a satirical demonstration of societal woes.

It was very straightforward: “Life hurts and will keep hurting, but it hurts less when you open yourself up to love and friendship”.

If nothing else, that’s entirely refreshing.
