Hello my name is tumblr, and I get offended at everything. Literally everything. Whats that? You mess up someone’s pronouns by accident, even though this was your first time ever talking to them? YOU ARE BEING OFFENSIVE. You slightly disagree with an opinion on tumblr? CLEARLY YOU ARE THE ANTI-CHRIST. You post your own opinion about a popular topic with actual facts regarding it. DEATH THREATS AHOY.
The hipsters:omg look at this picture of a potato i took i put it in instagram and now it looks like a picture of a potato from 1973 but it's actually from 2012 and it's a metaphor for the plight of homosexual youths in iran and my hair is ombre no it's not dip-dyed or two-tone it's fucking ombre but you wouldn't get that because it's not mainstream
The fangirls:OH MY GOD TOM HIDDLESTON LOOK LOOK WATCH HIM WALK WATCH HIM TALK WATCH HIM CONVERT OXYGEN INTO CARBON DIOXIDE THAT'S CALLED RESPIRING AND MY GOD HIS ASS LOOKS BEAUTIFUL WHEN HE DOES IT CAN I GET PREGNANT FROM THIS???!!!! MY OVARIES MY WOMB MY FALLOPIAN TUBES
The social justice bloggers:no your opinion about the price of fuel doesn't count because you're a white cisgendered male, it only counts if you're a transgendered bisexual homoromantic beautiful woman of colour, DON'T THREATEN ME, CHECK YOUR PRIVILEGES OR I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU YOU BIGOT, I HATE ALL THOSE OF YOUR KIND, YOU'RE ALL THE SAME AND OMG JUST DIE IN A HOLE shhh don't speak, I'm right
Always remember that the people that harass you and make racist, misogynistic, ableist, transphobic, etc., comments on your posts are NOT the ones you’re trying to reach. Those are anti-SJ trolls and they have already made up their minds and will not listen to reason.
It’s the people out there who are on the fence, who are still inquiring minds, the ones who most often don’t even leave a “note”, THEY are the people you’re trying to reach. In fact, any anti-SJ backlash you face is almost always a sign that you’ve hit a prejudiced nerve and are doing something right.
So please do not lose hope. Keep on fighting for social justice no matter how many trolls surface from the nasty depths of the interwebz to try to stomp you out of existence. Bc the more they whine & moan, the more you can be sure that you are disrupting the white male supremacist (etc) status quo and promoting positive social change.
Personally, I plan to continue advocating for social justice for as long as I am able. I hope that you will all join me in solidarity!!!
Normal Human Being:*writes a funny post. It says something that can be mildly offensive, but it's not threatening anyone, and is mainly to give my followers a laugh*
Social Justice Blogger:HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT YOU IGNORANT HEATHEN. EDUCATE YOURSELF!!! STOP BUYING INTO THE LIES OF THE CIS WHITE MALE SUPREMACY AND THINK FOR YOUR SELF. THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF THE SEXISM, RACISM, CLASSISM, HOMOPHOBIA, TRANSPHOBIA, SIZEISM, LOOKISM, AND PRIVILEGE EVERYWHERE. EVERYONE SHOULD FEEL SAFE AND THIS POST MAKES ME FEEL UNSAFE. KILL YOURSELF.
Normal Human Being:Are half of those even real words?
I don't believe you're actually trans because you're not a social justice blogger. You need to be more active if you really want to be trans.
I’m sorry, what?
What the hell does social justice blogging have to do with my gender identity?
Just because I’m not thrilled about the idea of calling cisgender people or heterosexuals “oppressive scum” and wishing they would all die doesn’t mean I’m any less transgender than those who post things like that.
I don’t believe in hate, no matter who it’s directed at. And I certainly don’t believe that hating and preaching hate against an entire group of people will make anything more equal.
My thoughts are that if Martin Luther King Junior didn’t need to post hate against white people to drastically improve racial equality in the United States, then why should LGBTQA people have to preach hate towards cisgender heterosexuals to fight for equality.
I’m not saying all cisgender people are accepting and equality preaching allies, but I’m also not saying that they’re all disgusting oppressive assholes. Most of my friends are cisgender, and many are heterosexual, and they are perfectly kind allies to me and have offered me a lot of support and help as I’ve gone through my transition.
I offer love where I receive it.
And this doesn’t make me any less of a transman than I am.
