I came across this wonderful video on You Tube today while I was looking for inspiration and I wanted to share it with all of you because it’s incredily beautiful, it gave me so many Dean feels, and it includes Jensen Frigging Ackles nailing Simple Man.
Enjoy everyone <3
(PS. Contains lots of spoilers for season 11 and 12)
I lied again, I went and rewatched the bit much later where they’re all separated and singing to each other and Rei’s all “JUST BELIEVE IN YOURSELF LIKE I BELIEVE IN YOU DAMMIT” and Minako’s singing about how she just wants to be with her girls and Usagi’s like “what am I going to do I need my friends” and hahaha kill me i love themmmm
He barely knows where in the city they are, aside from in a park. They’d caught a bus early in the morning, had breakfast with Dalish’s family, but he hadn’t paid much attention to their surroundings, too nervous too focus on anything much besides himself. Even when they’d reached the parade route, even when they’d been engulfed by the crowd, he still had trouble believing this could actually be happening.
Sera had grown up with this, had always known about Pride– the event, the concept, the emotion– and Dorian feels he might understand her a little better now that he finally stands in the center of it.
Pride– now that he’s there, there with other people like him, people who are proud to be like him– is overwhelming in the best ways. He knows he’s being quiet, uncharacteristically so, because Bull and Sera and even Krem keep asking him if he wants water or if he wants to go find somewhere to sit down.
But he doesn’t. He wants to be in the middle of everything, he wants to be engulfed by the noise and the movement, to be surrounded by all these people. He’s never felt so much a part of something. He holds onto Bull’s hand tightly, like he might float away if he doesn’t, caught up in the current of people and his own buoyant heart.
Bull smiles at him, and Dorian smiles back. He holds Bull’s hand in the middle of the day, surrounded by people, and he isn’t afraid. He feels like he belongs.
He feels like– like he knows the people across the street, who are moving through the crowd slowly, like they’re looking for someone.
Livia sees him first. She grabs Gereon’s arm and they all stare at each other between the waving flags and shouting people. It’s like a pocket of silence has opened around Dorian, and he takes a step forward. Livia has her cane, he sees, but it doesn’t look like her cane, because it’s wrapped in rainbow colors and has streamers dangling from the end.
Dorian stops in front of them, his heart in his throat. How they got here, he asks. When did they get here, how did they know he’d be here?
His words stumble over each other. He keeps noticing new things. Gereon is wearing a shirt that declares him the Proud Dad of a Gay Son– he must have bought it today– Livia is hugging him, and the feeling is so familiar it aches– he never let go of Bull’s hand– Felix looks healthy, and very smug– they’re here.
He looks at Bull, whose expression is studiously innocent, and Sera, who’s grinning manically, and then at Felix, who just smiles and wraps an arm around his shoulders, like he’s done a thousand times before.
Because there wasn’t enough joy to be had in Senshi Band, the musicals were recorded from several different angles, giving you EVEN MORE reason to watch them again and again. I haven’t yet watched the whole DVD release (fuck, I haven’t even watched the whole streaming release from like three years ago MAYBE BECAUSE I CAN NEVER GET THE FUCK PAST SENSHI BAND AND EVIL SENSHI CLONE BATTLE), but if you recall, just before The Great Nuke of 2015, I WAS checking it out some of the bits I’d already seen.
I wanted to take this opportunity to remind everyone that in this moment:
Rei AND Ami AND Minako are all gazing adoringly at Mako striking a pose:
And that it’s on the line “my strength will appear”.
Basically these musicals are the greatest thing that have ever happened in the history of humankind.
He never made a comment about Diana not being able to do anything because “She is a woman.”
When he said “I can’t let you do this,” he wasn’t underestimating her powers nor thinking he could control her. He was just stating that Ares might NOT exist so Diana might be after a human being.
HE WATCHED THE ‘SHIELD’ MOVE AND WITHOUT DIANA EVEN GIVING HIM A HINT, USED IT IN THE BATTLE. SHOUTING, ‘DIANA, SHIELD’
when squad said they weren’t worried about Diana, that she could take care of herself, they were worried about him, he didn’t go like “Oh come on i can protect myself too.”
When Diana became angry at Steve because she thought Ares affected him too, he didn’t say anything hurtful, he just pointed where the guy is and literally said “GO THERE.”
When Diana said men are useful but not necessary for pleasure, he didn’t make any stupid comment nor deny it.
He never judged or made fun of Diana for not knowing ‘normal’ stuff, instead he explained them.
He kept his promises.
During “No Man’s Land” scene, although he said noone was able to cross that place, he didn’t mean it because Diana was a woman. He was just simply stating the facts.
However when Diana said “It’s what i’m going to do” and started fighting, HE WENT AFTER HER TO HELP. He could just sit there until Diana finished taking everyone down, you know.
Whenever Diana went fighting, he was always supportive, never said things like “No, i’ll go,” or “Let me come with you.” First shield, then warehouse. He just stands there and nods.
HE FOUGHT WITH AMAZONS.
When he told Diana to stand back and Diana saved him from the bullets, he didn’t become grumpy. Instead he was like “LEAD THE WAY.”
He tried to convince Diana that even if people aren’t controlled by Ares and even if they are pieces of shits, she still needs to save the world.
He literally told her what is important is what you believe in and that somehow became Diana’s motto. When she remembered his words, although she was still so angry and sad because of his death, she embraced love for humanity once again.
