so you can as well have a coloured one

anonymous asked:

I'm not an expert on genetics, so I'm a little confused on your last post. I thought it was quite possible for a child to have the eye color of one parent and the hair color of another parent. Not trying to contradict what you said, I'm simply curious.

Well, it is possible, definitely. I’m not an expert either, though I did some DNA centered biology in high school… What I know about eye and hair color is that a lot of genes play a part in them, so you can for example have two parents with brown eyes have a child with blue eyes, if the necessary genes exist in their DNA. I guess that similarly, the possibility of not only one but two children inheriting the exact genes necessary to have each other parent’s colours is extremely slim.

In any case, my problem is that so many people do it in fics and stories it’s ridiculous. Even Suzanne Collins did it in The Hunger Games and I was like 😒

The Gaston Curse

*Curse to knock someone off of their high horse and make them feel the pain they have inflicted upon others and/or you*
**pretty strong curse as most of the few curses I have written are, so beware and keep track of the reversal in case it is needed**

Ingredients:

-a jar or container of some sort that seals well
-red candles (optional but not absolutely necessary) (you can change the colour if you wish red just reminds me of Gaston so-)
-a small piece of bread or something that can get mold (or has mold if you have something like that around-)
-Something that can rot (I usually use a part of a banana peel)
-Salt water (think of putting salt in a wound and the sting that it brings, especially in deep wounds)
-two pieces of paper
-Pen to write with (permanent marker works better or water proof makeup if you have any)
-Scissors

Directions:

~on one paper write the name of your target very clearly, then below it write what they have done wrong or what quality of theirs is the worst (write them pretty close together no space in between)

~ on the other piece of paper write out Gaston, then underneath that write down a quality that the target shares with him. (preferably the worst you can think of, like his ego, his anger etc)

~use the scissors to cut around the words, cutting as close as possible without cutting through the words, imagine boxing that person in tightly, making it hard for them to escape the energy of the spell

~put the papers into the jar, folding them if necessary

~put the mold catching object into the jar along with the rotting object

~ you can add some additional things if you wish (cigarette or incense ash, rusted nails or pennies)

~ pour the salt water into the jar, enough to cover most of the objects

~Close the jar and shake the contents a bit, putting all of your negative energy into the jar

~ if you really want you can make lyrics to the Gaston song but rather than naming good qualities, name bad qualities of the target as you shake the jar. You can think it, say it or sing it whichever works for you

~If you have a candle lit, pass the jar over the flame (but be careful not to scorch the jar or burn it or anything else!! remember your fire safety!) imagine it sending your energy it the target

~if you did the above step, seal the jar with the candle wax

~put the jar in a dark, isolated space and do your best not to come into much contact with it

~put up wards and such if needed

~remember post cursing cleansing etc

**In order to reverse or remove the curse simply retrieve the jar, and bury its contents as far from your home as possible**

daiso highlighters review! firstly, these daiso highlighters are very comparable with the zebra mildliner. as you can tell all the colours available are also offered in the mildliner color range. unlike the mildliner, these highlighters are only one-sided, it doesn’t have the fine tip that the mildliner has. i’ve not tried them a lot yet so i’m not sure how well the ink dries up. they do not ghost or bleed through paper and i use muji’s loose leaf paper. the major difference is the price, these highlighters are from daiso so it’s $2 for a pack of 5 while mildliner costs $1.95 each. if you’re looking for an alternative of mildliner definitely check them out, 10/10 recommend. (there are a total of two packs in this picture the first 5 and the last 5 respectively)

OKAY, SIT DOWN AND LISTEN UP YOURE ABOUT TO LEARN A THING OR TWO ABOUT HOW TO LOOK EXPENSIVE

•When in doubt wear it in black, white or grey

• Have at least one outfit that makes you feel like a BOSS ASS BITCH whenever you need a pick me up where it. You don’t even need to wear it out if you don’t want to, wearing it around the house will make you feel killer

• NEVER buy something you will only where once or with that one pair of jeans

• Don’t leave the house with sweatpants or leggings and jumpers on unless you are going to workout. It will make you feel like crap all day. Don’t get me wrong you have the right to be comfy but just make sure that what you wear makes you feel like a million dollars and other people will notice how damn fine you are.

• Have a colour scheme for your wardrobe and stick to it. If everything can go together you will never not look put together and classy.

• Don’t waste your money on trends they are trends for a reason - THEY WONT LAST

• If you want to look expensive buy clothes that fit you or get them fitted.

• Clean lines look chic and beautiful IRON YOUR DAMN CLOTHES

• Know what looks good on you and what you look good in, bear in mind that they may not be the same thing so have outfits that do both as well as one or the other. Cover all your options

• Become confident flaunting what you got, you look amazing.

• DONT THINK THAT SPANKS ARE SHAMEFUL. STOP SLEEPING ON THEM. THEY ARE THE SHIT. LOVE THEM AND USE THEM.

• Don’t make rash decisions when it comes to buying clothes make sure it’s good material and truly looks good. Sleep on decisions they may be the best one you ever made.

• MAN MADE MATERIALS LIKE POLYESTER LOOK CHEAP CAUSE THEY ARE. Save your money and buy 100% cotton or linen or silk or satin etc. Don’t buy man made materials they look cheap and don’t last.

• Dress for the life you want. It works. Honestly.

Witches Being Misunderstood is an Understatement

As I research this brilliant topic of Wiccan practices, origins, and history- lm learning of how stereotyped Im raised to believe witches and witchcraft alike are. Here’s some examples and rebuddles of what I mean…

“DEVIL WORSHIPPER”

Who has ever claimed that was the point… Because I do not follow Christian beliefs to a T doesn’t make me a worshipper of satan. These claims were made by Christians who believed the worship of ANYTHING besides “God” (the big guy in the white robe) is their devil.

“Dont do black magick on me!”

Anyone who has ever been remotely freaked out thinking we would curse their soul or ruin their lives with magic, has obviously never read the Wiccan Rede… what was it again? “An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will”? Huh…

“Eye of *animal*, Wing of *bird*”

These ingredients aren’t literal, at all… Although my young, shameless self believed it to be, these are just names made up for herbs, plants, and flowers that are ingredients to remedies witches didn’t want abused.

“Why don’t you carry your broom to fly on?”

This one makes me laugh. Woman used to literally ride broomsticks… maybe it’s a long story but people wanted to use an LSD like ointment and it was most affective on arm pits and … genitals. So they would lather up the broom handle and well… ride the broom into the night causing hallucinations. Weird shit right?

“You’re too colourful to be a witch”

How? Did I miss the dress code assembly? Because I can wear whatever the fuck I want. Being Wiccan is positive and peaceful and colours have magick their own. If a witch does decide to wear only black, good for them- black means protection, safety, and grounding (amongst other things).

“Where’s your black cat?”

Cats were once worshipped as symbols of multiple goddesses. In the beginning of the agricultural age, people brought cats with them where they went to ward off mice. Kittens were even wedding presents. Men went to war and women were stuck with the cat and were often widowed… since the woman lived alone- she was also likely to be accused of witchcraft. The Pope also claimed cats were satanic (?) so cats were burned alive - just like witches… but then the mice and rat population went sideways and here comes the Black Plague! Jokes on you - “Whatever you do shall be returns to you three times over”.

So here’s my explanation on stereotypes through research and the ability to look things up and not assume. These are based off of personal experience, first reactions… I also stuck to Wiccan beliefs along with my own personal thrown in the first one (sorry). There are witches out side of Wiccan who do worship Satan and that don’t follow the Rede but this is all biased. Correct me if I’m wrong anywhere here- I apologize already!

Blessed Be! )O(

Kuroo.

  • Black on black. No tie, open two-buttoned suit jacket that hugs his waist, the top two buttons of his shirt are undone. Tailored wingtip derbies, black and matte- polished to perfection.
    • He’s actually the one who dislikes wearing suits the most (I mean, have you seen the guy, he literally looks like he throws on whatever he has lying on his bed).
    • Oh, but if you challenge him, or if the need arises- he’s going to be the sexiest guy in the room because he sure as hell isn’t going to lose at anything.
      • Hours of research and a lot of changing rooms is not going to be for nothing. If he’s going to suffer, he’s going to do some real damage before he goes (namely to your short-circuited brain and perhaps severe blood loss via nosebleed).
    • He tried the red and black combination once, until a girl actually came up to him and asked him which host club he worked at, and he’s stuck to black from then on.
    • Those undone buttons on his shirt? Collarbones. They’re so sharp that they can slice through paper, and it makes his neck slimmer and his smirk all the sexier.
    • Everything’s been absolutely tailored at least twice, and it’s so on purpose. Can you imagine those legs- miles and miles of slim height and oh, he knows you’re staring. He’ll wink right back.
      • Now that he thinks about it, he’s never had to buy his own drink before, and thus Kuroo’s legendary alcohol tolerance was born.

Opened up Critical Role-based art prompts on twitter and got “Gilmore gets a pet” and “Gilmore has a baby dragon” so I combined the two! I wasn’t sure which colour I preferred so here are both!

I love your blog and your fanfics. ❤ was hoping if you could write a sort of one-shot of Jon's POV if Dickon tried to flirt with Sansa! Maybe even propose her lol

Thank you so much, hun!!! *_* You’re way too sweet to me! I’m just a trash blog haha <3 Bless you though. Thank you!!

And for you:

The air was still, quiet, a stark difference from the storm that had raged through the night. Jon hadn’t been back longer than a sennight and yet he could already feel the calmness of Winterfell weaving through his skin and settling into his bones. It was a few days till he would have to leave for the Wall, but sunrise after sunrise, Jon found the necessity of war to fall idly on his mind, his desire to stay here more pressing than ever. It wasn’t simply the calm, the serenity that blanketed over him, but something more unbidden and confusing.

In the aftermath of Daenerys’ siege on the Lannister army, many of the men burnt by her dragons had somehow escaped into the river, floating down until they were found by travelers. One of them happened to be Dickon Tarly, and when news came of Randyll’s execution, Sam had written to Jon to take his family in, pleading that they weren’t safe in the Reach. There hadn’t been a question in his mind. Winterfell would house the Tarly’s and offer them sanctuary while Daenerys and Cersei waged their war, but Jon had never anticipated, never fathomed that in doing so he would be placing Sansa at risk.

No, he begrudgingly admitted, she was in no danger, but the way Dickon looked at her, like she was the sun rising after the Long Night, Jon loathed it. Sansa had been through so much, endured so much at the hands of men, and he would be remiss to let her fall prey to another, even if Dickon appeared as honourable as his brother. It didn’t matter. When it came to Sansa, nothing mattered more than her safety.

“Lord Dickon,” Sansa greeted as she stopped just at the bottom of the staircase. Jon was supposed to be training the younger soldiers, but he paused, sword held tightly in his hand, as he watched Dickon stride up to her.

“My lady,” Dickon bowed his head, and when he lifted it back, there was a bright, fond smile on his face. “I pray that you are well this morning?”

“I’m perfectly well, ser,” she answered, returning his smile with one of her own, and gods, it even looked genuine. Sansa inclined her head and tentatively touched Dickon’s wrapped arm being held up by a sling. “Are you well? Are your injuries healing? I can send for the maester if it’s troubling you still, my lord.”

Dickon laughed. “I am as well as I can be, my lady. And I must say it is entirely in thanks to you.”

“I have done nothing, Lord Dickon,” Sansa said, ducking her head, pink tingeing her cheeks. Jon prayed it was from the cold, but there was no wind today, no nipping frost to prey on exposed skin.

“Forgive me, but that’s simply untrue,” Dickon said earnestly. He reached for Sansa’s hand and held it in his. “You cared for me when I thought I was on the brink of death. My mother calls you, my Winter Angel.”

Jon threw his sword down to the ground with a loud clatter and walked towards them, body and mind warring with one another as one felt ready for war and the other warned of disastrous repercussions if he were to act on that hostility. Sansa caught his eye instantly, so always attuned to him in a way that made his heart race, and a pretty frown settled on her lips.

“Jon,” she murmured, just as Dickon turned around.

“Your grace,” he bowed. “I hope the preparations for the war is going well.”

Jon resisted the urge to growl in response and nodded curtly. “It’s going fine, Lord Dickon.” But he wasn’t looking at Dickon, he had eyes for only one and she was staring right back, concern, confusion and irritation flashing through those summer blue eyes. “Sansa, I need…” But he hadn’t an idea what he needed or why he was standing here before them, and so the words trailed off, empty and unfinished.

“You need?” Sansa prompted, continuing to watch him carefully. “Jon, are you well?” She stepped forward, past Dickon, and laid both of her hands over his forearm. Almost immediately, his body relaxed, the tension easing away under her touch, like a winter rose blooming for the first time. He caught one hand with his other.

“I need to…” He was aware of Dickon watching them curiously, but he didn’t care. He needed Sansa to come with him, anywhere, away from everyone, just so it was just them two again, like how it used to be before all of this. “Can we speak in private? I need to discuss urgent business with you.”

“Oh,” Sansa said, surprised colouring her face. She then nodded and turned towards Dickon. “Well, I hope you have a fast recovery, Lord Dickon. Good day.”

Dickon smiled, bright and clear. Gods, Jon hated him.

“Yes, my lady. Good day to you both.”

He watched the taller man walk away, waited until he disappeared back into the castle, before looking back at Sansa, who had a knowing smile on her face.

“He is not a bad man,” she said gently. “He is a good and honourable lord with a kind heart.”

“He fought for the Lannisters,” Jon immediately countered moodily, his brows furrowing in annoyance.

“And yet you pardoned him and offered his family sanctuary,” Sansa replied just as haughtily. “I could find a worse match.”

Match?” Jon repeated, his anger growing now. “And when did we start speaking of matches, Sansa?”

She rolled her eyes and tore her hands from his, before walking away. “I am a trueborn daughter of House Stark, am I not? And he, a trueborn son of House Tarly? It would be a good political match.”

“And would you live in the Reach?” Jon demanded, grabbing her wrist and turning her back around. “Would you truly leave Winterfell?” He paused, breathing heavily. “Leave me?”

Her eyes narrowed, lips pursed tightly. “You have no right to judge me for thinking of matches when you are out there making your own!”

“What are you talking about!” Jon shouted, causing the men on the yard to turn and stare at them. He growled under his breath and tugged Sansa along until they were hidden in an alcove at the far end of the courtyard. “What match am I making?”

“Lord Davos said that you were showing great interest in the Dragon Queen,” Sansa answered coldly, eyes challenging him to contradict her.

Jon shook his head, too shocked to find the right response. “I have no interest in Daenerys. How can I be interested in another woman when all I can ever think about is…” Jon stopped, startled by his own admission as shame coloured his cheeks. “Forget it. It’s nothing. I have more important matters to attend to. Go back to your Lord Dickon.”

He made to leave but Sansa held him back this time. “Finish your sentence, Jon.”

“Sansa,” he warned. “Let me go.”

“Finish your sentence,” she repeated angrily. “You cannot yell at me then not explain to me why. That’s not fair!”

Jon growled, fighting a losing battle, as he twisted their hands so he could grip her instead. He crowded her back up against the wall and leaned in close. “How can I be interested in another woman when all I can ever think about is you?” he whispered, his breath fanning across her skin. “Is that what you wanted to hear? That you have me this twisted up inside? That I can hardly go a day without thinking about you, desperate to just be near you? Do you know how I loathe myself for having these thoughts?” He was breathing heavily, chest rising and falling rapidly, as he continued to stare at her.

For the longest second of his life, Sansa said nothing, did nothing, but stare back, and then slowly, her hands ran up his chest. “Then let us be twisted together,” she murmured, as her hands curled around his neck and pulled him to her, kissing him lightly. “Because you are all I think about as well, Jon Snow,” she said against his lips.

Jon sighed into her, holding onto her hips as he continued to kiss her as lovingly, desperately and wantonly as he could, while knowing that there was now a new reason why he didn’t want to leave Winterfell. How could he now that he knew what she tasted like?

Gods save him.

you should make a "pets for the zodiac signs" post!! please make libra rats or dogs because they need social interaction and are nervous

dogs are really sagittarius to me, like… big dogs because sagittarians need to be on their feet so something they can run around with and burn lots of energy, and sagittarius has that general unconditional love and that free, active lifestyle. same with aries

scorpios and cats. well cats know they are goddesses and therefore may be a bit more content in the presence of an underworld god like scorpio. idk. scorpios just have that sleuth cat thing. mysterious. private. so do leos. leo is the big cat in the jungle. one they can worship is worshipping an element of themselves.

virgos… anything that doesnt make a mess? is easily manageable? lol. thats probably not true. virgo rules the 6th house and the 6th house rules domestic, small animals and pets. they like giving care to something fragile or incapable. but not birds, i know too many virgos terrified of birds, and bugs, crawly things. something tender.

cancers respond well to cuddly and protective pets. like a dog that will always come back for cuddles and stay in their bedroom guarding them. even a little one will do, cancers like to feel safe. aquarius…. aquariams… because they are so fascinating, and you can do all lights and wacky decorations in there, and the colours and intrigue of sea life for aquarius can be enlightening, aquarius is the sign of dolphins, but a pet dolphin would be difficult to have

gemini needs a parrot. the reason is obvious. somebody they can yak to all day and all night, and someone that will yak back to them. what more do they need. capricorn is the unicorn, capricorn and a pony, or a horse, the feeling of the wind as they gallop through the wind toward mountains. and horses are probably so hard to look after capricorns have the responsibility factor lol.

libra… peach faces, or parakeets, or little birds that will swing to them, little birds that sit on their hands in balance, making music and chirpy sounds, rainbow colours, blue, pink, and beautiful. i have visions of taurus with a deer. i dont think you can have deer as pets. but they have that hallow, misty, eerie beauty, in fog in the dawn, now thats taurus.

pisces out of all respond to pets the most, doesn’t matter what one, dog,  that unconditional comfort, that hug that can come whenever and forever, the companion that never judges, has a listening ear, represents something higher and peaceful because it is non verbal.

Musical Touken Ranbu - Yume Hitotsu [ユメひとつ]: CD Version - Jacket Scans!

So I decided to scans these as well because they’re sooo pretty! And the colour does look more vibrant in person! And again, I’m sorry for the lines and such in these ones also >_<

I also had to cut off bits on these too because my scanner isn’t actually big and it didn’t fit all of it in, so I’m sorry again!
And I thought I would share these also xD

(After working out how to adjust the colour, I have changed them to those instead)

PLEASE DO NOT REPOST THAT SCANS!

(They have been watermarked, but you can save these to your computer/phone)

cute but subtle ways to dress little!
  • PATTERNED SOCKS!! Whether they’re cute animals, or little drawings, or just pretty colours, they’re bound to make you feel little! No-one will notice them unless you pull them up high.
  • Overalls! Wear them over t shirts, sweaters, anything! They’re actually pretty fashionable at the moment, and they work for all genders :)
  • Headbands and bows! I’m in love with headbands right now - I have a collection of adorable headbands, some of them are plain, but some have little bows and flowers, 10/10 would recommend. Also, hair clips and barrettes are awesome!
  • Ribbons! You could tie them into your hair, around your braids or ponytails, or even into your braids - it looks super cool! And there are bAJILLIONS of colours and designs, you can get them from dollarama for basically no money!
  • Some more things you can do with ribbons: tie them around your wrist to make a cute bracelet! You can also replace your shoelaces with your favourite ribbons to spice them up a little.
  • LOTS OF COLOURS! Just mix and match, throw in the entire rainbow into your outfit if you wanna!
  • Hairstyles: if you have long hair, you can try out fun things like pigtails and braids!
  • If you shop online or go to places like gap kids, you can find kiddie clothes that are big enough to fit you! You can find things like cuddly shirts or sweaters with bright colours and cute drawings, or character t-shirts, and it’ll just look cute, not necessarily kiddy!
  • Cute little accessories! For example, I have some cute ear muffs for the winter that are super fluffy and have little panda bear faces on them! You can get gloves and earbuds like this too!
  • Funky tights! i have some rainbow striped ones that i always wear with skirts and it makes me feel super little! You can get ones with patters and stars and hearts and designs that look amazing! You can also do this with leggings.
  • Sparkly nail polish!
  • Heelies or light up sneakers, if you wanna!
  • Do you remember sillybands? Well you can still get them online for barely any money, and they look so cute! When you’re wearing them, they just look like colourful elastic bands, so it’s not super obvious
  • if you’re carrying a bag with you, decorate it with stickers and buttons and keychains! You can make it all pretty and jingly :)

I hope you find these helpful!! I’ll be posting similar posts this week :)

Representation: Make Your Own, Vote with Your Wallet

Here’s a comic that I drew up to explain my grievances with these counter-arguements I’ve seen popping up. I’ll write more in text here.

I don’t want to stop anyone from making their own games. Making games is a hard, incredibly rewarding creative task, and you should never stop making games, ever. You want to see a game that is totally your thing, your own brainchild go out into the world for people to enjoy? Do it. Make that game, and share with the world more culture than ever before. There is nothing stopping you from making your own game except time and effort.

But one person’s games, that’s just one voice in a million. As a gay person (and I cannot speak for anyone else but my own gay self), I grew up without any gay protagonists, with the constant background radiation of “Straight Is Normal”. Every romance, every love interest, every single character who wasn’t a joke or a villain, straight. I couldn’t share a part of me that was vitally important to me, and nobody knew what being gay meant, since there were no positive gay characters in the media we were consuming. If I made a game with a gay main character, that would still be one game in tens of thousands. It wouldn’t reach a wide audience, and there wouldn’t be the presence in media that is sorely required. I would need to have a marketing campaign, and millions of dollars I don’t have to reach the audience who really needs this representation.

Because this isn’t about one game, this isn’t about any particular game. This is about culture in general. Children will grow up playing straight leads and create straight leads in their own games. They won’t think “Hey, maybe I should make this lead gay” because that’s not what they grew up playing. We imitate what we’ve learnt, and we create building blocks with which we craft stories. The gun toting veteran soldier is always male, the princess who needs saving is always female, the hero is always straight and always gets the girl.

But what if we made sure that wasn’t the case? What if the hero had a gay love interest, what if the princess was a dude, what if the gun toting vet was a lady? What if we explore these avenues, construct a more complex narrative and not just rehash the same narratives we ourselves played as children?

We shout loudly for this to happen, decry wasted opportunities because we need to. Because if we don’t bring it to the attention of the people making the games, nobody will. We cannot remain passive consumers - “only play the games you like” only counts if there are games that represent us - and if there are parts of those games we find hurt us, we can still love those games and recognise the hurtful bits. I do not want to boycott games with problematic elements - that will ensure only bad games get made. How do you make money speak the necessary things we have to say?

(As a footnote, I will explain how money talks. Money is a language all of it’s own, and it is a very simple language. If you give someone money for doing something, you are saying “I support the thing you are doing”. If you do not give them money, you aren’t really saying anything, as it could be anything from “I don’t support this at all!” to “Eh, I wasn’t invested enough to lay down money” to “I wanted to support you, but I couldn’t.”. Now, if someone made a really really good game, but it had an insulting or degrading depiction of your group inside it, and you really liked the game, would you buy it? Would you not buy it? If you bought it, you are supporting the status quo - they will continue to do anyway. If you didn’t buy it, they might think “Wow, we need to not do a game like this ever again” and not even consider that the problematic elements were the problem. Money is too crude of a language to get this across.)

So, we are left with the only avenue that is viable for us: Actual Dialogue and Critique. Where we are free to say “I really liked this game, but it had problematic elements in it”, and discuss the things that went wrong in the game. Now, critique is not the same as censorship. With censorship, you remove the media from the public’s eye as soon as possible, so that their eyes are not offended by it. I do not want this. I cannot stress enough that I do not want this. Censorship is a regressive and counterproductive tactic, which does not help us learn from our mistakes and missteps. If we censored every piece of art that had mistakes, we would stagnate.

Critique, on the other hand, is the honing of skills and behaviour through discussion of the implementation of such behaviour. Just like an artist can recieve critique on anatomy,a writer can recieve critique on representation. A poor artist draws what they think something looks like, a poor writer writes what they think something acts like. And just like a poor artist can avoid drawing body parts they have no skill in drawing, a poor writer can avoid including people they know nothing about. Representation is simply another way we can improve the quality of our games - with proper representation comes richer, more varied casts.

I want to stress again that critique is forward thinking, not backward thinking. When we say, say, that Assassin’s Creed: Unity has four identical white males and that’s boring and samey - it is a critique of the game itself. It is a flaw that perhaps Ubisoft can learn from, and if we didn’t point it out, they would be none the wiser about it. Ignoring flaws is just as bad as censorship - both ways we learn nothing about it. Would you like to see a game industry filled with nothing but grizzly Doom Marines? If nobody pointed that out, the industry would blindly make more Doom Marines, because that’s what would sell. But once we’ve pointed out the samey Doom marines, or the four white lads, future games can be made that have an eye to this critique, and it can only benefit everyone. Sure, there will still be problematic games, but we are only human, and we are still allowed to enjoy those games. But I think the game industry can be better, and it needs to be told where it is going wrong. Those games that it creates, they will still exist for you to enjoy. They will always exist, and they will be fun.

I know you want creative freedom, and I do too, but the industry makes a profit from creating games geared with marketing and not just a little cynicism. By having better representation, we open up avenues for more voices, more varied creators to have their say, not just the ones that “sell at the moment”, as executives, the ones that are really in charge of the creative decisions, are a frightened and conservative lot. If we show them that no, we won’t stand for this lack of representation, they will have to reconsider their cynical and conservative marketing avenues. And we can’t do this by money alone. Money can only take us part of the way there, and for the rest of it, the vast majority, we need…

REAL FUCKING DIALOGUE.

I bet even some of you out there are still skeptical, like, why do we even need better representation, games are fine as they are. I’m not here to tell you that you can’t enjoy games. I’m not here to tell you that games aren’t important, or aren’t art, or should be a lame minority rainbow, or that all games should be Captain Planet and the Planeteers, where social consciousness is the deal of the day, all day, every day. I think that would be terrible. But what I do want? I want gay heroes to be just as normal and ordinary as straight heroes. I want black heroes to be unnotable and accepted. I want female heroes, I want trans heroes. I want characters that stick in people’s minds as normal. There is no “Special Snowflake Patrol” wanting to make every hero be an intersection with every marginalised group.

I just… want to be normal. I don’t want to have to shout, or campaign, or point out Straight White Male Protagonist #6753 as being yet another wasted opportunity.

I want to be normal. I want to be able to walk down the street with my boyfriend, holding hands, without people recalling all the regressive stereotypes that they have seen in the media and informed themselves about my sexuality.

I want to be normal. I want to be the hero sometimes, I want to be the villain sometimes. I want great gay romance, I want terrible gay romance.  I want to pick up a straight-to-DVD animated movie and sometimes see gay characters just existing, being gay, without it being notable or anything.

But that will never happen if I just make my own media and just passively consume the media that most closely fits me. Not existing in media I enjoy is not good enough for me. I refuse to be a passive consumer. This solution needs

DIALOGUE.

And if we need to get a little loud to be heard over the roar, well, that’s just what we’ll have to do. Why not join in, so that we can fix this problem sooner, and we can all rest and enjoy making our own games, while enjoying games made by teams of people with far more money than we’ll ever see in our lifetimes? After all, it must be great to see a big budget game with a romance that you can connect with. I wish I could play one!

And even though I’m gay, and not a person of colour, female, or transgender, I still want them to feel the same thing I’m striving for. That’s what equality is all about. I’ll help them, they’ll help me, and if you help as well, to strike up dialogue, to critique, to discuss and deconstruct, we’ll get there.

We’ll get nowhere just passively consuming. Let us

TALK.

UPDATE: My good friend Samael inked the comic for me! It looks much better now!

Basic Makeup For New Gurls

I’ve been getting a lot of messages recently asking about how I ‘look so pretty’. Believe me, I love compliments as much as the next gurl but trust me when I say this; it’s the watercolours, not the canvas.

I don’t have a naturally pretty face. I don’t say that in a “I’m ugly, please tell me otherwise” way… I simply have a blokish face. It really is the makeup that makes all the difference.

I started this blog all those years ago to do two things:

1. Be accepted as a crossdresser genderfluid individual.

2. To help others with the same goal.

It’s been a long time since then, and I like to think that the first is complete and the second is ongoing. At the same time, it’s really easy to forget how much I had to learn when I started out. Everything that comes naturally to me now would’ve been alien to Jess 7 years ago.

With that in mind, I thought I’d compile a handy guide to getting started with makeup. I’ve written similar posts before but I feel like it’s worth going more in-depth for such a key subject.

This week I’m going to cover the base parts; concealer, foundation and powder. I’ll go into detail about lips, eyes and others over the coming weeks.

The Canvas

Ask any artist and they’ll tell you the same thing; you can’t paint on a spoiled canvas. The same goes with your face; if it isn’t clean and ready to paint on then the final effect isn’t going to look as good as it could.

Start by throwing some aftershave (yes, aftershave) on around your beardy areas. This helps to close up your pores after you’ve shaved and means you won’t get oily foundation underneath your skin. It won’t make too much of a difference to the final look but you won’t get a rash/spots afterwards!

Concealer

If, like me, you’re an extremely hairy individual, then you’ll need to add a little bit extra to your makeup routine. If not, just skip the first step.

Take a concealer stick and apply it in tribal marks across your beard shadow; make sure to remember the neck as well! Blend it in with your skin until it’s all even; It should look like your chin, cheeks and neck are a slightly lighter colour than the rest of your face.

After this, take another concealer stick (you can use the same but I prefer using two different brands) and apply it in the same fashion to your whole face. Use your fingers to blend this in the same manner as before.

The reason you add two layers of concealer is because you need to hide your beard shadow. Adding the single layer just to your bearded areas will make your face look slightly unbalanced, whereas adding two layers will hide the shadow and then match the new tone with the rest of your face.

Foundation

There are plenty of tutorials online on ‘How to apply foundation’. I’m going to cover something a bit more specific: How to get the right foundation for YOUR skin.

Applying foundation is the same as concealer, apply to face and blend together, nice and simple… as long as it’s the right colour.

I know there’s going to be a fair few people who don’t like my solution, but it’s worked for me time and time again.

Go to your local makeup shop and speak to an adviser. When they ask who you’re buying foundation for tell them “YOURSELF”. Yeah I know, it’s probably a bit scary, but it’s the best way to get the foundation that will best suit your skin colour. Don’t hide behind a girlfriend/friend, tell them it’s for you. They don’t need to know you’re a crossdresser; you could be an actor or it could be for a fancy dress party. As long as they know you’re the one using it then they’ll get you the best foundation for you.

Powder

You will be applying your powder on last. I don’t mean after your foundation and concealer, I mean after literally everything else. But seeing as it’s part of the canvas, it’s getting mentioned here (also there are a lot of gurls who can get away without doing the lips/eyes/others).

Treat your powder like your foundation, you need to get the right colour. Fortunately there aren’t as many powder colours so you can usually do it by sight without having to ask anyone (although if you’ve already asked about the foundation then you might as well ask about the powder).

Once the rest of your makeup is done, take a large brush and swirl it into the powder in circles. When you apply it, brush it lightly over your whole face. You’ll probably need to do this a few times to make everything look even.

The purpose of powder is to hold your makeup in place and to give your face that matte finished look; it’s also one of the steps that a lot of crossdressers miss out on.

Sorry that I don’t have any pictures to go along with the makeup routine! Once I’ve written all the makeup posts I’ll put them together as a ‘quick-guide’ with pictures and everything!

Make sure to come back next Monday where I’ll be covering Eye Makeup!

Part 1Part 2

Alright.

Okay.

Keep your shit together, girl.

He is only wearing a whiteish-creamish coloured suit with a baby blue shirt.

You’ll be fine, honestly.

But then his tanned skin and bright smile, his amazing emerald eyes and his mind spinning scent!

Holy cow.

I was one lucky gal as I saw Harry coming out of the bathroom, fully dressed and ready to go. He washed his hair so his curls were all over the place but it was so sexy and adorable at the same time I honestly didn’t know how he managed it all.

“I swear I don’t know how I got so lucky,” he said as he walked over to me, sneaking his arms around me and kissing my neck right up to beneath my ear then across my jawline. “You look bloody stunning,” he complimented me which made my heart flutter and cheeks flush red.

I didn’t even realise I closed my eyes and my lips parted as he pressed open mouthed kisses on my skin and his hand was squeezing my bum here and there. Being so close to him just allowed me to inhale his typical Harry smell which yes indeed it included the minty flavour or scent or whatever of his chewing gum that never seemed to leave his mouth.

“I love your ass,” he whispered in my ear as he pressed a whole lot of new kisses onto my skin. “I also love you. Like crazy.”

“I feel like we’re on our honeymoon,” I chuckled then a sigh left my lips as he nibbled on my earlobe and dragged his tongue down the side of my neck. “You’ve gotta stop this, now.”

“Do I really?” he murmured into my skin as he held me closer to his body.

“Behave, mister,” I said weakly, not being able to control myself as he took over me just by kissing my neck and gripping my ass.

How was he doing this?

“Alright-alright,” he gave in as he pulled away. His usual side smirk was still on his face then he laughed which caused his eyes to crinkle and his dimples to deepen in his cheeks. “I’d love to come back here with you for, like, a month.”

“Are you crazy?” I looked at him with wide eyes as I took my phone out of my bag. “I don’t have the expenses to afford a whole month in Hawaii.”

“I’ll pay it,” he shrugged like it was no big deal. Which I understood. He was a multibillionaire. Of course he could afford it.

He could’ve bought the entire island if he wanted to with all the money he had.

“Alright, whatever,” I laughed it off as I walked past him. “You can’t just say stuff like this. I hate it when you pay for all my stuff. You didn’t let me pay for my own plane tickets because you wanted us to fly first class.”

“So what’s wrong with that? I can afford it. I want to buy things, nice things, for you; I want to spend my money on you. I love you, of course I spoil you.”

“You spoil me too much, though. You don’t have to win me over with your money you have already won me over with your personality and I just want you to know that you are enough for me. You are an amazing man, I couldn’t ask for a better boyfriend than you and I truly mean that from the bottom of my heart.

You honestly make me go crazy, like, absolutely nuts. I cannot keep my hands off of you and I think you already know this but I can’t stop looking at you either. You are honestly the greatest, kindest, most humble guy I have ever met in my life and I’m so freaking grateful to have you. I’m so damn blessed.”

His eyes kept looking into mine as I rambled on about how much I loved him or something along those lines. I didn’t even know what I was saying because the words just left my mouth and I was hoping and praying that nothing silly was spoken by me.

“Right, this is final,” he said slowly as he nodded and swallowed. “I am for sure, like, 100% taking you to Hawaii for a whole month and I am paying it all. We are flying first class and you will not bring any money, not even your bank card. Like I am literally going to pay for everything for you.”

“Like hell you will! Calm your tits, pal. Just cause I tell you how much I love you and how amazing you are, which you should know anyway, doesn’t mean that you can just become my sugar daddy. I am not giving you sugar for money although it comes in handy sometimes…” I joked around which caused him to laugh with his head back and hand on his stomach.

It was the prettiest view and the most angelic sound I have heard that day. I loved making Harry laugh and smile and happy.

He deserved the best and I was determined to give him the best. Even if I couldn’t be considered as the best.

**

The dinner was on the beach, the sun was still up so it gave us enough light to see each other and be able to have food outside. It was lovely as we heard the tides of the sea crashing on the sandy shore and the slightly salty yet extremely fresh smell filled my lungs.

Harry was sitting on my right side while Lily was on his left side, talking his ear off which I found rather funny. Especially when he could barely control himself so his hand gripped my thigh a bit firmer as his it was resting there.

He leaned over to me when the little girl got up from the table and left with her mum to go somewhere, his nose slightly nuzzling against mine as a quiet sigh escaped his lips.

“If we ever have a daughter I do not know how I’ll cope,” he said chuckling and I joined him. He pressed his lips against mine in a soft kiss and pulled away just to do it again several times after the first one. “I love you.”

“I love you,” I smiled as my eyes fluttered open just to look right into his shining green ones.

Before I fully moved away from him I kissed his cheek which caused him to blush a little and I found that adorable. I didn’t know why he blushed whenever I kissed him but I loved it like I loved him.

“What would you like to name our daughter?” I asked him suddenly as we were both leaning back in our chairs, the people at the table were all in deep conversation about something.

“Hmmm,” he hummed, putting his elbow on the arm of the chair he was sitting on as he leaned his chin against the side of his index finger. “I don’t know, I think-, we are most probably going to change it right as she’ll be born. Y’know how random we are,” he laughed.

“Right I think we would and will probably end up doing that,” I agreed. At that point I didn’t realise we were talking like it is going to happen but to be honest we had a good relationships and I didn’t see anything that could possibly damage our bond in the near future.

Anything’s possible for us. We have the chance to create a family together in the future and that makes me excited.

“But, urm, something special I think,” I said finally, after he thought about it a bit. “I’d definitely want something for her that would suit her and a name that would be special and unique.”

“As special and unique as Bear Payne or…” I grinned at him which caused him to widen his eyes and it was the funniest thing ever. Then I clocked on. I just shaded his best mate’s son’s name and I didn’t even mean to do that. “I mean that’s not actually what I wanted to say.”

“Oh my god,” he continued to laugh as he covered his mouth with his hand. Then he put the other one over his hand that was already on his lips and his whole body was shaking as he made fun of me making fun of Liam’s son’s name.

But I didn’t really.

I thought it was cute and of course a bit unusual but definitely unique. I think it was mainly his girlfriend who decided on the name so I can’t really give all the credit to Liam for giving his son the name he got in the end.

“Stop it, Harry,” I punched his arm with my fist but I didn’t actually hurt him. This got him though because he stopped and put on a fake hurt face which made me laugh. He was honestly so goofy and playful, sometimes it just made me wanna have kids with him as I wanted to see him with them. “So, what about our daughter’s name then, huh?”

“Okay, let’s talk like adults then,” he said as he cleared his throat and a big sigh left his lips. “I would probably like to call her, um, Maya or something.”

“Maya or something?” I asked back as my eyebrow arched up higher than I could have drawn it as I was getting ready.

“I like Maya, it’s, well, I think it’s different. What do you think? Do you like it?”

“I mean it’s a pretty name but I’m not too keen on it,” I told him my honest opinion. “I’d rather call her something more-, I don’t know. Something more umpfh if you get me?”

Umpfh,” he repeated. His eyes slowly looked into mine and I already saw his smirk growing bigger and bigger. Then before I knew it his head was leaned back and he was laughing his ass off. “Right, describe this umpfh for me, please, pretty girl.”

“You’re just making fun of me, you deserve no explanation,” I told him with a serious face expression but deep down I was dying from the laughter I had to hold back.

God why were we such a goofy and childish couple? We didn’t take anything seriously, we laughed most of the time that we spent together and basically we were both just a mess as soon as we saw each other or started talking.

We could be texting and when I type out that “I’m crying I can’t cope I’m pissing myself” I’m actually like that. Some people just text that stuff, I actually feel it and do it. I mean yeah, Harry is funny…

But I’m hilarious.

I think I laugh at my own jokes more than Harry does. But then again he laughs at his own jokes too. And sometimes we laugh at each other’s – well, okay, we laugh all the fucking time I don’t even know what I’m trying to say anymore.

We’re funny and end of.

I’m probably going to get so much shit from tumblr for this but why the fuck do people take pride in something they have no control over like skin colour or sexuality etc? I mean, well done for being born and shit but just because you were born a certain way isn’t really any reason to feel pride.

Pride should be felt through something you’ve accomplished, reading a long difficult book, learning a new language, being able to cook that one complex dish you always wanted to make. (However concerning the LGBT community, you can take pride in gaining courage to come out, there is nothing wrong with that at all. but being proud just because you’re attracted to the same gender etc isn’t really an accomplishment)

When you take pride in something as simple as skin colour, gender, sexuality then you must not have really done anything great enough to take pride in so you take pride in something you didn’t even do. (Also I’ve noticed only certain people can be proud of who they are. I’ve legit seen the LGBT community drag down their own allies who said they were happy / proud as heterosexuals),

Idk, can we just be proud over things we’ve actually accomplished? Now I just wait for the anon hate lmao

Bearded Steeb’s head

A summary of Not So Tiny Bearded Steeb’s head:

The Captain America unmasked heads that I own. Surprisingly the one with the least wonky eyes is the one I paid full price for. The other two were bought at Toyfairs. I chose to use the last head because damn are those eyes not painted right.

I have doubles of Steve in his Civil War suit (the reason I decided to do this custom in the first place.) I ended up using Not So Tiny Injured Steeb just because his suit is slightly lighter than the none “battle damaged” version and I like the darker version. While he is harder to get (being part of a three pack) I bought him for less at a Toyfair.

I cut off the front of the fringe as it sticks out too much. After removing the paint with nail polish remover (I do have proper acetone but I find the nail polish remover is not as harsh and it works well enough on removing the paint on faces) I scrubbed the head clean and sculpted on it using the Tamiya Quick Dry Type Epoxy Putty. I learned the hard way NOT to use it when my heater is on as it becomes a sticky mess. I have used Aves Apoxie but I find the Tamiya Putty sticks to plastic easier and isn’t as fiddly once you get the hang of it. It also doesn’t sink down as easily. To sculpt I used a small awl. Some people use toothpicks but I find they go too blunt too quickly when I use them.

Sculpting the hair was a challenge as I’m not very good at figuring out how short hair falls.

Comparing the before and after.

I realized one side of the hair was bigger than the other so I added more volume to even it up.

Late night painting the skin.

Mixing up the skin tone was a pain but eventually I just settled on one. Then began the challenge of painting eyes.

I decided to have the eyes look slightly up so that Bearded Stee would forever be glaring up at people from under his brows.

Painting the hair was very annoying. This was just the base coat.

I attempted to dry brush the hair and added some colour to the lips as well as very, very lightly adding some shading to the cheekbones, under the eyes and in the brow furrows. Honestly he’s so tiny you can only really see them right up close but I will know it’s there.

Walking my 4 year old home from kindy today, he remarked that I should have a pink flowy dress “because girls like pink.” While I went through a pink phase as a kid, it’s not a colour I’ve worn much at all since then.

Me: Where did you learn that?
Son: I don’t know. I just learned it.
Me: Well, some girls like pink, but some boys do, too. Daddy has pink shorts, doesn’t he?
Son, thinking: Yes! And I have pink pants, too!

We chatted about it a bit more, and agreed that colours are for everyone. Even so, I can’t help but notice how deeply the social conditioning to this effect runs with little kids. A few weeks ago, he answered a quiz for father’s day where he said that his dad’s favourite colour was pink, and thinking back, there’s been one other time since then when he’s asked me if pink is for girls, resulting in a variant of the same conversation we had today. Which makes me think that someone at his school has reacted to him saying his dad likes pink by trying to tell him that it’s a girl colour.

Gender rules: fun times!

Since I uploaded the lineart and you have seen the horrendous doodle as well, I might just show you the step-by-step process of my mammoth project.

Seriously, why do I do always make it so hard on myself and decide to draw on such a big canvas that you can see every little mistake? Am I a masochist and just don’t know it yet? Probably.

Excuse my rambling. This is basically just the basic colouration for Lest and Krul, their most prominent features being their sharp eyes that pierce the dark surroundings with ease.
