Headcanons about Robert’s relationship with Liv as they get older for @dinglemafia
She’s the first person to give Robert a hug after Aaron flatlines. Even though the doctor’s just told them it was mostly a scare and that Aaron should be fine, she clings to Robert for comfort. Robert completely falls apart.
Liv gives Rob a mug with her drawing of him as a monkey printed on it for their first Christmas as a family. Aaron bumps his shoulder and hands Liv another present to open because he spots Rob’s lip quivering.
On her birthday, Robert gives her a beautiful A4 leather bound sketch book with her initials that takes her a few years to fill. Once it is full, she wraps it and mails it to Rob. There’s a note in it saying it’s because she knows she’ll lose it if she keeps it herself, but they both know better. When she’s back in the village for Christmas there’s a framed copy of one of the sketches hanging in Robert’s office and several prints pasted on the walls of the portacabin.
When the three of them move into their house Vic gives them a framed photo she’d taken of the couple, and Chas gives them one she’d sneaked of Aaron and Liv sleeping on the backroom sofa. A few days later Robert notices there’s a third frame, with a selfie of the three of them that had been taken at their engagement party. “Where did this one come from?” “I think Liv stole the money out of your wallet to buy it, actually.” For once, Robert didn’t mind.
Robert is horrible when he’s sick. Whiny, clingy, generally acting like he’s at death’s door if so much as gets a runny nose. (Around Aaron and Liv that is, at most Vic.) So one time, when he comes down with an actually serious flu, he completely forgets he’s supposed to take Liv to the dentist the next day until Aaron mention it that night as he gets in bed. “Robert, don’t worry, she’s 16, she can go on her own, it’s fine.” Thing is, even as an adult, Liv hates the dentist, and adamantly refuses to go alone. So, the next day, Liv is sitting on the sofa in their living room, and a smartly dressed Robert drags himself down the stairs looking like death. “Rob, what are you doing? You’re meant to be in bed!” “You’ve got to go to the dentist”. As soon as Rob lets go of the banister, he tips forward, and Liv has to rush to grab him so he doesn’t land on his face. Chas comes in from the kitchen with a bowl of chicken soup, “Aaron called me to take her, I was just gonna bring this up to you first, ya idiot. Get back in bed!”
Rob might have also travelled down to London once while Liv was at uni. She woke up after a night on the town to find she had a broken tooth, and didn’t want Aaron to know about it, so Robert conveniently had “an emergency meeting” in London.
The first time Rob is referred to as her brother is when she goes to an introduction with a sixth form tutor and he just assumes that Rob is the brother who’s her guardian, because look at them. When they get to the car, Rob comments the tutor is in for a hell of a shock when he actually meets her brother, and asks her why she didn’t correct him. “Well, you are. My brother, I mean.” Rob smiles wide, throws an arm around her shoulders and squishes her against his side.
Robert is the one that teaches Liv to drive. Her first lesson is with Aaron, but he keeps teasing her and she gets so annoyed she vows to never get behind the wheel if he’s in the car ever. So Robert teaches her. She’s a pretty good driver.
Liv goes to uni in London, so Aaron and Robert drive her down on a Saturday, after a big Dingle booze up the night before. Second Dingle to go to uni. (Belle is the first.) When it’s time to say goodbye both Aaron and Liv dissolve into a puddle of tears, and Rob is his regular charming self, trying to lighten the mood. It’s half way up the M1 that he starts crying too. Aaron texts Liv, and she says to tell him he’s a soppy git, but she loves him anyway.
One time when Liv is 24 and living down in London, Rob is on the evening news because the haulage firm, which had expanded over the years, has signed a massive European deal. Liv scares the life out of her flat mates shouting “That’s my brother!” at the telly.
Right before Liv turns 30, she shows up in the village unannounced after a particularly bad break up. She still has her key, but she knocks instead because if no one is home she’s going to the scrapyard or the pub. Robert opens the door and she flings herself at him, hugging so hard she knocks the air out of him. Rob walks them to the sofa in silence, and with an arm still around her, texts Aaron “Liv’s here. Bad break up. Bring ice cream.”
When Robert’s 50th comes up, Liv is living in Prague for work, but she flies back on purpose, because she “couldn’t miss a whole party dedicated to reminding Rob he’s ancient.” She and Aaron decide to surprise Robert and not tell him she’s coming. That night he tells Aaron that was probably the best present he could get.
Rob lives till he’s 86, the stubborn git. Liv is 70, she’s an old lady herself when he dies. She’s lost a lot of people by then, her mum, Chas, the love of her life, many friends and family. But she knows the only thing that can ever hurt worse than losing Rob is losing Aaron.
On this day in music history: April 21, 1992 - “Check Your Head” the third album by the Beastie Boys is released. Produced by Mario Caldato, Jr., it is recorded at G-Son Studios in Atwater, CA from Mid 1991 - Early 1992. After taking a three year hiatus from the music business, the Beastie Boys regroup and return with their third full length release. Following the critically successful, but commercial disappointing reception afforded their previous release “Paul’s Boutique”, the bands third album sees them returning to their punk rock roots featuring more live instrumentation mixed with sample based tracks. The album is well received by critics and fans alike, and marks the beginning of a new peak in the Beasties popularity and sees them broadening of their audience, winning a new generation of fans. It spins off five singles including “So What'cha Want” and “Pass The Mic”. The album is remastered and reissued on CD in 2009, as a double disc edition, with the second disc containing sixteen bonus tracks featuring non album B-sides, remixes and live performances. “Check Your Head” peaks at number ten on the Billboard Top 200, and is certified 2x Platinum in the US by the RIAA.

Just finished my Aaron Livesy Hug Series until he gets some more hugs (which better be soon, he deserves all the hugs in the world) and thought I’d post some statistics of his hugs (for my own personal reference) which I’ll probably update after each part I make.
He’s had a total of 86 hugs so far. 38 of these are from his first run on the show (2008-2012) and 48 have been since his return (2014-present).
He’s had 31 (36.05%) with Chas, 19 (22.09%) with Adam, 11 (12.79%) with Paddy, 4 (4.65%) with Liv, 3 each (3.49%) with Hazel and Robert, 2 (2.33%) each with Cain, Lisa, Ryan, Holly, and Victoria, 1 (1.16%) each with Charity, Gennie, Debbie, Moira, and that random guy.
You just ran off, I didn't know what you were gonna do
Worried I was gonna blurt it out more like, cause I nearly did you know, I was gonna tell Vic
Do you have any idea how bad that would've been? For both of us
I don't care anymore I just want it all over with
I wish we could change what happened Aaron but we can't
I can, by telling people the truth
You think thats gonna make it better? You think Andy's just gonna say thanks? Cause hes not. The only thing we can do is try and find a way to live with this
That easy is it?
No I didn't say it was but its got to be better than this. I'm the only one you can talk to Aaron, the only one who understands this. You're not alone Aaron. If I had to take a beating to get through to you then it was worth it, I don't want you ending up at the edge of a Quarry again
You can go now
No I'm not going until I know you won't do anything, cause if I lost you.... cause if I lost you Aaron I couldn't handle it
You've got Chrissie
Its not enough
I love you
I love you and I can't watch you suffer. So if you want to go tell Andy or Chas about what I did, about Katie then go ahead. Its your choice.
