Ohh I'd love to hear your thoughts about Mirrors and what Niall said about it!!
Hmmmm well you know, I think all of them are very aware of how they have many young fans. Of course they’re aware, they grew up along with them, but as that happened they 1) became much more aware of how powerful young girls are but also 2) what kind of issues come with being a young woman? they’ve had so many girls come up to them and tell them how much the band helped them no matter what they’re struggling with, and when you have such a predominantly female demographic you can’t escape it and they show their awareness in different ways.
Now with Liam whenever he tries to express that it goes a bit south rip. Louis is best when he talks to fans one on one because he turns very soft and supportive (and publicly says how thankful he is for us many times) and now also the lyric video, though that was more Recent News but it still helped people. Zayn supports fan art a lot because he sees the importance of making art and expressing yourself when you’re growing up, and Harry will keep defending how teenage girls are the future to anyone who will listen, and of course, there’s the rainbows. They all do it in their own way.
I think this was Niall’s way. Niall is best at expressing himself through song, I feel like that’s when he’s okay talking about things he’d otherwise rather not discuss out loud, and I think he’s very hesitant about this topic because he’s seen how complicated it can be, and he knows he has to thread carefully. But he did know how young girls struggle with body image a lot, and he knows that it’s a sensitive subject (and that it can too soon become something people will critique if not addressed right), and he wanted to do something back for us and he does it like this because expressing himself in song is what he knows best and what he’s most comfortable with. It’s for us, but when he has to explain it, he grows very self conscious again, so he lets the song speaks for itself.
I think this is Nialls way of 1) supporting young women and wanting them to be comfortable and 2) saying thanks for everything and I adore him for it
