People out here acting like Belle was this suppressed Disney princess who needed the live action remake to make her a strong independent princess. YeAH, NO. like, listen, I love a lot of the things they did to Belle’s character in the new movie. They really fleshed her and gave her more backstory that the original movie didn’t give her. YEAH. But okay, in the process of that they also somehow took away a little bit of the warmth and kindness and weakness that is in Belle, despite her independence and tough strength.

Belle in the live action didn’t laugh and dance along during Be Our Guest, she didn’t weep and mourn the loss of her father and freedom, she didn’t fear what her life was becoming. In the original, Belle takes her father’s place willingly. She doesn’t try to escape. She’s self sacrificing, compassionate and kindhearted, and there’s moments in the live action where that falls flat, if it’s even there as it is.

ANYWAYS.

It’s not about Emma Watson’s Belle or her acting. I like Emma Watson’s Belle. I can’t look at her and see Belle from the beloved original, but she is definitely Belle, and she makes Belle her own. Overall, I like her fresh take on the character, and I’m grateful for her portrayal. But because of the little things they took away from Belle’s character in the live action, she’s not completely Belle, in my own personal opinion.

Does that make any flipping sense? I doubt it.

I guess what the point of all this babble and incoherent opinions is this. Belle was already a strong female character for girls to look up to. That’s the point I’m trying to make. Everyone’s acting like SUDDENLY she’s worth something now, because she’s being portrayed as a bit tougher and stronger. Which, okay, great. But don’t take away the fact that when Beauty and the Beast came out in ’91, Belle was a very different princess than the others had been. She, and, well, Ariel too, really broke the mold of what the Disney princesses were, and literally paved the way for the princesses to gradually stand on their own more and more.

(I love Walt’s Original Three and am not saying they aren’t princesses who don’t stand on their own they are all so so important and strong and I will kick anyone who fights me on this. I’m talking about Belle right now though)

So, like, admire Emma Watson for the new things she’s brought to the table, the way she brought more depth to an already beloved, strong princess, while still appreciating Belle for who she already was, who she always has been.

Can you imagine Steve’s reaction when he broke into the Raft and saw Wanda in that horrific condition? The shock collar and straightjacket, her quiet demeanour, and her pale face with redness around the eyes? It’s so much like Bucky’s control under HYDRA that I bet Steve completely flipped.

Because Steve took Wanda under his wing: he (along with Sam and Nat) taught her how to be a Superhero, how to read the situation and how to stay safe. He believed in her, knew she could control her powers – Steve trusted Wanda with his life when he jumped into that building. He owes her his life when she stopped Rumlow’s bomb from exploding on him.

Steve looked out for her wellbeing throughout the entire movie: checking on her after the Lagos incident, turning off the TV to make Wanda stop torturing herself with the footage, with the vitriol the media was spewing about her. Steve ordered General Ross to stop playing the Lagos footage. He wouldn’t let them control Wanda through fear, or use her for fear, like HYDRA (and the media) did with Bucky.

So when Steve heard that Tony had locked Wanda in the compound and had taken her choices away – that Tony even dared to call her a ‘Weapon of Mass Destruction’? He was pissed. Because Wanda’s just a kid and they’re treating her like a ticking bomb, like they treated Bucky – locking him away, treating him like nothing more than a weapon. Tony’s side made Wanda feel so terrible about herself that she was too afraid to do anything, thought it was better to hide away… again, much like Bucky at the start of CW.

Steve sent Clint – the one person Wanda will listen to – to go get her, to talk some sense into her like he did in AoU. It was on the same vein as Steve had said: casualties are part of war, and if they don’t find a way to live with it, then no one gets saved. To make amends for herself, she has to get off her ass and fight. And she does; she has Steve’s back, and he has hers.

tl;dr: Steve loves Wanda. He’s incredibly protective of her, he believes in her, and he feels connected to her; they both chose to let their government experiment on them to help their country. Steve refused to sign the Accords because he knew they would do something like this to her – since Wanda’s power is within her, locking her up is the only way the government can control her. She is the weapon, so she can’t be free. Bucky was treated much the same way, both by HYDRA and the US government. And Steve knew this. The parallels between Wanda and Bucky are so strong in this story, and Steve was doing everything he could to make sure Wanda didn’t suffer the same fate.

So to see Wanda like that… you can bet Steve freaked out. He’s not leaving her with Tony and the government – Wanda’s coming with him to Wakanda. He’s not going to let them control her. And after this? I’m betting she won’t let them, either.

The problem is that Eren is ridiculously handsome these days.

Sure, Levi had always acknowledged that the kid was kinda cute, especially after he’d started growing his hair out and learned to control his temper better. That had been it, though, and since back then Levi had still been his Captain, he’d never really even allowed himself to dwell on such things. But now when he’s retired - and growing soft with age, as Eren himself had claimed once with a twinkle in his eyes - he’s become painfully aware of just how attractive he finds Eren.

He’s sitting amongst tall grass and wildflowers, more focused on admiring the line of Eren’s broad shoulders than paying attention to what he’s doing with his squad. Since he can’t deny a single thing from Eren, he’d naturally agreed to come along and watch them train. It would be really helpful, Eren had said, worrying on his bottom lip with his teeth in a way that had been horribly distracting to Levi, because even though he’d now officially been promoted to Squad Leader, he could use some feedback on his training methods.

They’ve been at it for what must be hours now, and Levi’s quite impressed. Maybe he really is old and soft, because he’d have allowed at least one break somewhere in between. Eren’s more strict than he would’ve imagined, even tense at times, and Levi’s not at all envious of his squad members.

It’s quite nice, in a way, sitting in the sun and merely allowing time to pass. That’s a luxury in and of itself, he thinks, being able to stop and smell the flowers, both figuratively and literally. He’s plucked a freshly blooming daffodil from the ground and is twirling it in his fingers when Eren seems to have decided it’s finally time for a break.

Without hesitation, Eren comes to him, leaving his squad to cool off amongst themselves. He plops down on the ground next to Levi, a little out of breath but still no less gorgeous. There’s a small frown resting over his features and Levi wants to kiss it away, to press his lips against the crease in his brow and the downturned corners of his mouth.

“Hi,” Eren says and manages a wry grin. “How am I doing so far?”

Levi tears his gaze away from the shining green of Eren’s eyes and instead turns to watch his squad members, most of whom are also on the ground, trying to catch their breath. “Well,” he starts off and intends to go on, but apparently that’s already enough for Eren.

“Really? I don’t know,” he sighs, taking a hand through his unruly hair. He’s discarded his jacket long ago and rolled up his sleeves, and Levi finds himself hopelessly transfixed by the firm muscles in his arms. Not to mention his hands, dear God, those broad palms and long skilled fingers that Levi’s imagined touching him all over so many times that he’s lost count by now.

To top it off, Eren towers over him by now, having grown several inches over the years. That’s completely unacceptable to Levi. This is Eren, his Eren who’d he’d vowed to protect, the perpetually angry and squeaky-voiced kid who’d looked at him like he’d hung the damn moon. His Eren is not allowed to be this attractive, because Levi honestly cannot handle it.

Eren is in the middle of rambling about something when Levi realizes he hasn’t been listening at all. He’s fidgeting in place, that much Levi registers, hands clenched into fists and his stare darting back and forth from Levi’s face to his own feet as he talks. There’s something trapped in the green of Eren’s eyes that reminds him of a panicked animal, and Levi wants nothing more than to soothe him and tame him.

“Hey,” he interrupts, making Eren stop abruptly. “It’s okay. Breathe. Relax.”

It’s a horribly clumsy attempt at comforting him, but Eren’s shoulders do drop a little. “Yeah. Okay,” he repeats with a long exhale. “Sorry. It’s, uh, you being here just makes me a little nervous.” It’s all said in one hasty breath, almost fearfully.

Levi blinks. “It’s okay,” he repeats, and having ran out of things to say, reaches out and hands his daffodil to Eren. “Here. Take this.”

It’s silent for a while, but Eren does extend his hand and pluck the flower from his hand, his face questioning but also a little hopeful. “What?” he asks, as if he hadn’t quite heard right.

“It reminded me of you,” Levi says and opens his mouth to explain further, but when nothing comes to mind, he closes it again. “Make sure you don’t crush it, though. Maybe train your squad a little less intensely.” He’s not sure if Eren can manage that for even a fraction of a second, being less intense than he usually is, but for the sake of his overworked squad members, Levi sure hopes so.

“Thank you.” Eren’s lips are curving into a tiny smile, and it’s the most beautiful thing Levi’s ever seen. “I’ll try to take good care of it.”

“I know you will,” he says, more to himself than to Eren since the kid is already up and ready to continue,  newfound enthusiasm in his voice.

One of the members of his squad outright whimpers when told to get up and resume training, another one actually has the gall to talk back at Eren, but none of them even mention the delicate daffodil now tucked behind his ear.

When you told yourself you weren’t gonna look at spoilers but :’))

one of scorpius and albus’ many first kisses in many infinite universes.

It was like breathing.

It just so happened that Scorpius had beautiful and soft platinum blond hair, irresistible already as it was, but of course it was getting long. The extra length caused one strand in particular to hang loosely in front of his face as he studied the history of magic textbook on the desk before him.

It was driving Albus mad.

Scorpius hadn’t even made an attempt to adjust it; he was much too focused on his studies. He was usually so perfect, so neat, that this out of place strand made Albus incredibly uneasy. This lock of hair, of course, led to Scorpius Malfoy’s bright ocean eyes that were on the brink of being silver. Now Albus was distracted by the whole of him. Scorpius Malfoy.

It happened quickly.

Albus couldn’t take it anymore, so in the moment, he took it upon himself to gently tuck the loose strand of hair behind his ear. Scorpius tensed up at the sudden contact, turning his head towards his friend.

It shouldn’t have been a big deal.

They were just mates after all; a mate looking after another by quickly fixing his gorgeously soft hair that he had been staring at for several minutes prior to adjusting it and nearly getting lost in those beautiful eyes that he had grown so accustomed to over the years. Just platonic; friendly stuff.

It took them both by surprise.

Albus had just been looking so intently at him, so it was only natural that Scorpius happened to look back. So what if they both stared for just a bit too long? It’s not like they needed words to communicate after all. Everyone they knew joked about how they had a true psychic connection. But if they did, then why didn’t Albus see it coming?

It was a kiss.

It had taken Albus a bit to realize that the mysterious force bringing him down to his friend’s lips was Scorpius’s hands around his collar. It started so quick, but as it happened, it was so slow, but firm, and with meaning. At first, Albus hadn’t even realized it was happening until he felt the smoothness of Scorpius’s lips glide against his. His eyes closed.

It was strawberries.

Strawberries. A fruit he had never particularly associated with the blonde boy until this moment. It was almost like muggle lip balm, like the kind his sister Lily would always make him smell whenever she got a new flavor. But this one was incredibly wonderful, and fresh, and innocent.

It was like breathing.

Perhaps this was why Albus was so surprised when he had to break away from him a breath. Though, when he did this, he didn’t distance himself far from Scorpius. “Sorry,” he felt as just a whisper on his lips, though he hadn’t opened his eyes yet. When he did, he was met with Scorpius’s own, which were energized but unsure. This alarmed him. “Don’t be,” he responded so simply, yet so surely, looking down to his lips, pink and swollen. He did that. And as he pulled him back in, he was determined to do it again.

It was like breathing.
