Sandy’s Masterpost for writing a Sim Story!
I’m so glad you like my story! But I know how it feels not knowing where to start when it comes to writing, it’s so frustrating. So, below I’ve put together a bunch of helpful links that I’ve either used in the past or believe will be useful to you, and any other aspiring storytellers!
This is everything I could think of nonny! I am by no means a great, or even a particularly good storyteller, but I
hope this post helps you, and others, get started! If you ever want to chat more, come off anon and we can talk story ideas! And that applies to all of y’all! 💖
Shout out to writers out there spending hours, days, or weeks struggling with their stories - struggling to get the words right, struggling to make the story cohesive, struggling just to write
Shout out to writers who pour a ton of love, devolution and time into a story they’re super proud of and excited to share but end up getting little to no feed back on it
Shout out to writers who feel under appreciated in an environment where creative thinking is highly celebrated but so much of that enthusiasm is geared towards artists that they feel lost in the shadows
Shout out to writers who have quit because they felt their writing wasn’t good enough, because they weren’t getting any feedback, because no matter how much effort they expended, they got the same response they did when they started out
Shout out to writers who work their butts off to get exposure, to get themselves known and still end up with little to no recognition
Shout out to writers who stare down at their keyboard or empty Word document and wonder what the point is
Shout out to writers who continue to write regardless. Shout out to writers who need that support and love to keep writing. Shout out to writers who are told their works suck or they’re a terrible writer, and feel so discouraged they want to stop. Shout to writers who appreciate all notes - whether they’re reblogs or likes. Shout out to writers who get excited every time someone reblogs their fic.
Shout out to writers. To those who can spin out a fic easy, to those who have to spend so many stressful hours in front of a computer screen to just get out a sentence, to those who write original stuff, to those who write fanfiction, to all of those who write. A big, loving shout out to all y’all.
Careful, long post incoming. I thought I might warn you :D
So, on thursday my friend was over and we spent a relaxed afternoon together on the couch. We started talking about her ex and then when on to my (non-existing) love life and I said to her: “Well, I have a problem. I have a stupid fan-crush on a japanese figure skater.” She looked at me for a millisecond and then said: “I think japanese men are handsome! And I used to love watching figure skating!” I was sooo excited when she told me! “Do you know Yuzuru Hanyu?” I asked her. She said no, and my hype-modus was actived! “Hold on a sec!” I grabbed my laptop and my brain was working so hard thinking about what the hell should I show her first?!?!?!
I thought it would be good to show her Yuzuru off ice first. So I said: “Here, that is him.”
Her. “Omg, he is cute!” Me:”And this is also him…”
So three pointy-eared adventurers walk into a bar…
First let’s meet our adventurers.
There’s Roisin, an enthusiastic moon elf wizard, who’s looking to become an adventurer.
Then there’s Badger, a gnome rogue and a professor in search of new interesting plants.
And finally Trinket, a drow cleric, who wears a big sun hat and wants to help people in the name of his goddess Lliira.
So, there’s rumors of trouble in a small town. Wyverns at least, and maybe something worse?
Our three heroes arrive to the local tavern, separately. Trinket comes in first, telling that he’s a traveling priest looking to help people. Badger comes in, says she’s heard of wyverns and she’s interested in the seeds they bring. And then Roisin arrives, declaring herself adventurer and wanting to help.
Roisin and Badger get to talking about wyvern hunting, and Trinket offers to help them in the role of a healer.
A local hears the talk and comes to talk to the three. Apparently two kids have gone missing in the past week, and the townspeople are losing hope.
Our heroes decide to take the case!
First they talk to the mothers of the lost children to find suspects. There is of course a possibility that the children have been taken by the wyverns but they also suspects an old lady, who may or may not be a witch living at the edge of town.
That’s where we head first, then! The witch’s house is surrounded by thick wall of thorny plants, but Roisin finds a spot that looks thinner than others and Badger, with some divine guidance from Trinket, gets through it.
On the other side of the plant wall, there’s a garden with shrubbery in the shape of children. Well. That’s creepy. Doesn’t appear to be magical, though.
Trinket avoids the bushes while the other two examine them and goes to knock on the door.
The door is opened by an old lady. She tells that the children came to her place to play often and she missed them. She was shocked to hear that some were gone missing and seemed totally sincere.
She gave us a bell that would help us get past the plantwall next time we came around.
We leaver her place and kinda realized that we forgot to ask anything about the kids… Like their names… Or how old they were and what they looked like. Sherlocks we are not.
So we do that and after getting that info (Sarah and Petey, 12 and 8) we start heading for the tower where the wyvern apparently lives.
We reach the tower the next day. Upon opening the door we get attacked by a bunch of kobolds!
Badger deals with them with her weaponry pretty effectively.
Roisin uses her magic to create a sphere of fire that burns the kobolds, but she also almost dies.
Trinket, rather than using magic, pokes them with his rapier. Oh yeah and heals Roisin. He also tries to intimidate the kobolds, but they’re too busy trying to steal his hat to really notice.
After the kobolds had been dealt with, we head to the top of the tower.
There’s a wyvern’s nest on top of the tower with some corpses that Badger identifies as kobolds. No sign of the children though.
We surmise that maybe the kobolds have taken the children and so decide to check the nearby forest for the kobolds’ camp.
We go to the forest, and hear some noises coming from a camp. Badger, being the sneakiest of us, goes to check it out. There’s kobolds, and some kind of a thing that looks like it might be the stuffed bunny one of the kids had, but Badger checks it out sneakily, and it is not.
There doesn’t seem to be any reason to think that the kobolds had the children, so we decide to return to town. Clearly we have missed something.
We camp the night out at the witch’s garden, cos we arrive so late, and in the morning talk to her again.
She says that she has sensed something odd, some kind of odd magic coming from the town.
We go back into town, combing it with Trinket’s Detect Magic. Mostly things seem normal, but then we spot a woman who we had seen with the mothers’ at the tavern, and she has illusion magic all over her.
We try to approach her, but she closes herself into her house.
So Badger sneakily picks the lock and we get inside.
She accuses us of burgarly and we tell her that the door was totally open, yo. So she tries to attack us.
We keep on the defensive at first, cos we don’t want to harm her, but she proves to be tougher than expected, so we attack her. Well… Roisin and Trinket do, cos Badger has sudden trouble getting her hits to land.
Suddenly she seems to have gotten enough, and turns invisible.
Roisin has an idea where she might be, so we try to corner her with a sphere of fire, Badger and a floating dagger.
Trinket stays to guard the door and feels the woman trying to get him to move, so clearly that didn’t work.
Badger, frustrated on not hitting anything, tackles the woman and we manage to rope her up.
The invisibility spell fades, and instead of a human woman, a green skinned humanoid lays before us.
Badger recognizes her as a bog hag, a creature that strives on other people’s misery.
So Trinket, being a priest of joy, blesses her and she loses consciousness.
The children are in a cage that was hidden by magic until the hag fainted. Badger tries to pick the lock of the cage, but isn’t very successful, so Roisin goes out to get the blacksmith.
The children are saved and the bog hag will be taken to the next town over to face justice. Time to party!!
so i’m going to point yall to my malec fic rec list™ and also give a quick shoutout to some fics that i’ve read (or re-read) recently!! these are all great fics written by awesome people and i suggest you check them out!! :)
Magnus Bane is a famous stripper, used to pretty boys falling in love with him after one dance. The feeling is hardly ever mutual. But when he meets the freshly turned twenty-one year old Alec Lightwood, he can’t take his eyes off him, and they find themselves in love quicker than they expected.
When Magnus gets to Nashville, Indiana to handle his late mother’s will, he doesn’t expect to be forced to stay there for six months. Six months away from New York and lost in the wildness of the countryside.
It quickly appears that he is going to go through six months of living hell.
The fact that he hates the local veterinarian on sight isn’t helping.
finally watched star wars and i tried really really hard, NOT to ship reylo, but i failed miserably. reylo has that dynamic i fall in love in ships; brooding grumpy boy who hates the world and ray of sunshine girl who becimes his world.
- kylo’s attraction/fascination towards rey and her skills(she literally kicked his ass and kylo was so fascinated with her, he wanted to teach her the ways of the force); seriously the way he looks at her with such awe every time, i die a little inside
- how so easily he let his guard down, literally taking off his mask, living him all vunerable towards rey,
- his voice softens when he talks with her
damn, you need to read the novelization of tfa, it’s full of reylo romantic undertones and tension. kylo ren is so drawn to her in so many of ways, he doesn’t even realize it, he can’t fight it
- the way they mirror each other; two sides of the same coin; he’s the darkness in her light, she’s the light in his darkness;they complete each other.
not goona lie, they have many problematic aspects atm, bud GOD they have the potential to be the most epic ship in star wars; so much potential in their characters for development. i can’t help but be intrigued and fascinated by them. i’m already too deep in this ship.
can you please write some minkey wherein key has amnesia and mistakes minho as his boyfriend though in reality he doesn't have one, the rest is up to you as long as it ends happily ^^;; thank you 💖
all 2656 words are hidden after the read more! ^^;; if it isn’t obvious enough, it was a pleasure writing this while i was distracted from real life. I honestly have no idea how it got this long but dear anon, i hold you responsible for leaving me such a fun prompt to write and the monstrosity you’re about to read. thank you for trusting me with this! i hope you’ll enjoy the read! (:
“but the us media isnt covering the refugee crisis so we dont know!!!!!”
sounds to me
like y’all are not reading the news
don’t use the excuse that the media isn’t telling you about this if you don’t even go to american news sites. if you genuinely didn’t know what was going on, that’s okay!! no one expects you to know everything going on in the world!! but dont blame the media for not covering whats happening in europe when they clearly are. and yeah, our media sucks in a lot of ways but sites are actually covering this.
Long, long ago the Gods and Goddesses were curious
of the new planet they created, Earth. When humans began to walk the Earth,
they believed that something was missing. Something that would light up their
path since the planet was shrouded in red dust. So they created a massive ball
of light and when they sent it to the planet, the humans were more than
overjoyed. But the ball of light eventually gave out since it stayed up in the
sky for far too long. Puzzled, the Gods and Goddesses began to discuss among
themselves until a wicked and troublesome God stepped up and proposed an idea.
“Let us make a
Sun and a Moon,” he said, “but it
will each contain a soul of a human to keep it going. The Sun will rise during
the day to keep all living organisms warm and alive and awake and during the
night, the Moon will take its place too cool off the Earth and help the living
organisms to sleep.”
“But what do
you mean by it containing a soul of a human?” asked a Goddess, knowing well
who this God was.
Here, the God gave a smile that hid a dark
intention. “We won’t stay around for so
long, my fellow Gods and Goddesses. We will need something that comes as close
to us and who better than the humans that we have created ourselves. Of course,
they will have to sacrifice themselves.”

Feminism is not black and white. It’s completely normal not to agree with every single aspect of a movement/religion/political idea/etc (I know I don’t).
To add to that: Tumblr feminism is not the only kind of feminism.
Ignore the parts of self-care posts that say “fart all you want”, “take up space, even if it makes other people uncomfortable”, and “talk about whatever makes you happy, if it’s food, music, sex, masturbating, etc.”
To add to that: Sex is private. Nobody wants to know about your sex life.
Porn blogs will follow you if you talk openly about your sex life.
They’ll follow you anyway, even if you blog about kittens and cupcakes.
Don’t feel the need to apologize for being straight, cis, white, or male. Tumblr will make you think you’re the scum of the earth, but you’re not. Nobody should apologize for the way they were born.
If you send anonymous hate, that person can still find out who you are.
Don’t believe everything you see on here–especially if the claims in the article seem completely exaggerated but Tumblr collectively loses it’s mind over it. (see: Republicans trying to make a dress code for the first family). Tumblr is not the best educator. Some things may take research.
To add to that: Posts (especially with images) will sometimes have a user pointing out the inaccuracy/falseness of the claim, but then someone will remove the comment to continue reblogging the incorrect version. (see: Man crashes car after seeing two women in shorts. The car wasn’t even crashed).
Do not be afraid to post your opinion. Any angry anons you receive are just upset that you don’t think exactly the same way they do. They’ll pass.
