Per the icon commish question: How long does it take for you to make one? That should be a key to the amount changed, really.

It takes me a whole day (in hours of actual work) if we don’t count the fixes and extra details a person might want.

And I take a couple of extra days so i can sketch it properly and stuffs

Interstellar (Spoilers...ish)

Just watched Interstellar and I have to say it was the most fascinating piece of crap I’ve ever watched. It was like they wrote 3 movie scripts and couldn’t decide which one they wanted to go with so the crammed it into one movie. There were at least 3 times where I was like okay this feels like it should be the natural end to the movie and then I noticed…the fuck there is an hour left!?

The narrative structure is just awful. It was like listening to a really old man tell a story you really wanted to hear but he keeps getting side tracked and throws in lots of unnecessary details and keeps going off on inane theological tangents. Like he describes in detail which roads he took to get to the place for an hour before telling you what happened there. It keeps you watching but it’s frustrating. You want to shake someone and yell at them to get to the point.

All of this while simultaneously filling it with nonsense that will challenge the suspension of disbelief of even the most forgiving science fiction fans. Some shit about love and gravity being the answer to a question nobody explained properly. Robots and “ghosts” and time dilation… people in different galaxies in different times communicating. Oh and a mysterious paradoxical “them” that is trying to guide and help for some reason. Lot’s of pedantic human self worship.

The dialogue was awful; so much jargon that you have no idea what they are doing… but you know it’s super important because everyone is freaking out and the music is telling you to care about it. Pacing was terrible and had people you didn’t care about dying randomly and in stupid ways.

There were too many central themes. Survival of humanity, advancement of humanity, exploration, love conquers all, getting back home/reuniting with family, contacting mysterious beings. And speaking about reuniting with family does nobody find it odd how much he cares about his daughter and how little of a shit he gave about anybody else in his family…including his son, his grandchildren…some of whom die apparently which we only know because it’s casually mentioned in passing and then never mentioned or talked about again.

There are plot lines that made it seem like it was the ending of a different movie within this movie (Fucking Christopher Nolan). They could have cut Matt Damon and his role right out and it would have made no difference and yet they spent so much time on it.

And to top it off it a deus ex machina ending that makes no sense and ruins much of the narrative build up.

It’s a movie that couldn’t decide what it wanted to be so it went with all of the above and hoped people would interpret it as deep and epic when all it was is nonstop foolishness compounded on nonsense and drawn out way too long. It’s a movie about the end of the earth and trying to survive…no wait it’s about trying to find a new planet to live on…no wait now it’s about colonizing and starting fresh on an even different planet…oh wait now it’s about saving the earth again. Okay forget everything you’ve been watching so far now it’s about obtaining data by plunging into a black hole for some reason and blindly hoping it helps the earth in some way because fuck you math or some shit I dunno I’m just a writer. Okay it’s about both the survival of earth and the colonizing of a new planet…but none of that is important we’re just going to show you the end result of one…and the start of the other before ending the movie because fuck you that’s why.

Some fascinating concepts and ideas though. If this had been two or three different movies with the focus in the right places it could have made for 2 or 3 great movies. But instead we got a hard to swallow plot smoothie. It’s the kind of faux intellectual scientific epic I can see Big Bang Theory fans insisting was a really smart exciting movie. Reminded me of everything wrong with Prometheus.

i think one really cute detail is that Viktor used to wear gloves

at basically

every

competition

but once Yuuri gave him the ring

he stopped

Viktor Nikiforov is good and pure and so in love with Yuuri he’s so sweet my teeth are breaking apart

Kiss me in public. Put your arm around me so people know I’m with you. Call me babe in front of our waiter. Pull me in because I’m just not quite close enough to you. Make me watch that one tv show that’s your guilty pleasure. Tell me your biggest fear and I’ll promise to protect you. Kiss me at red lights because if you don’t then I’ll kiss you. Show me the one song you can never listen to without crying. Don’t hide the tiny details about you. Because I’ll remember every one of them.

Wait, people seriously doubt the assumption that Victor can’t speak Japanese?

Honestly, I’m baffled that people find it so hard to believe the likely possibility that a Russian man who had never ever anything to do with Japan can’t speak the language.

But alright, if you’re one of those people (or if you just want to read a detailed explanation supported by scenes from the anime), let this be a “Victor and Yuuri actually communicate in English” Masterpost.

Hopefully by the end, we’ll all be able to laugh at this scene. (And maybe even stop rejecting the one logical and realistic aspect of you know, communication between people from different countries.)

I shall see you under the cut.

MC in the clothes of the RFA guys
(There is nothing underneath those clothes so you can let your imagination run wild ヽ(´▽`)/ )

I wanted to draw the different MCs, but I couldn’t choose which one to pair with each guy, so I just used the long haired MC

For the people who asked what happened to Jaehee

I just watched the scene from episode one of Yuri on Ice again where Yuuri is skating Stay Close to Me while Victor is… i want to cry it’s so good. They put so much detail into the differences between Victor and Yuuri’s expressions.

Victor looks very tired, sad, like his heart isn’t really in it at all. Obviously he’s skating beautifully, but he doesn’t feel what the music is saying, a lover’s plea to stay close.

Meanwhile Yuuri has a little smile on his face as the song reaches its climax. He, who has every right to be sad and depressed after big losses, managed to find joy in skating this song and showing it to his childhood crush. He might not be skating it as flawlessly as Victor, but you can see on his face that he feels what the song means. I absolutely can’t wait to see how they’re going to bring this back around at the end of the series based on how well Victor and Yuuri’s relationship has been developing so far. Yuuri is learning that he’s allowed to ask someone else to stay close to him, while Victor is rediscovering what it was that made him love skating. I still hope we get to learn more about Victor because there’s so much to him that we don’t know, but I have a feeling that everything in the series is going to tie back to this eventually.

Ok but you guys remember how in his first day of competition, Yuri’s thoughts just keept going back and forth to Victor, to the reactions he may be showing, what he would expect him to do or try in the moment. YURI’S ALWAYS LOOKING FOR WAYS TO PLEASE VICTOR.

And after it ends, he just can’t seem to wait and see his reaction, like a small child wanting to be praised.

But the thing is that there’s a really brief scene in his second routine, where the camera focuses on a detailed sequence of steps and then, seconds later, Victor is shown smiling.

AND JUST LOOK AT THIS.

IT’S SO DETAILED…

EACH AND EVERY MOVE LOOKS SO FLUID. And Yuri’s skating in a way for this not to go unnoticed, because he knows Victor will like it.

Then we get to see Victor, and his current smile just turns into one filled with fondness and affection AND I JUST CAN’T DEAL WITH HOW ADORABLE THIS IS… BECAUSE HE KNOWS.

He knows all those steps by heart, he knows every little perk, trick, and art behind each movement. He knows Yuri’s changing part of the routine by following a distinct pattern of jumps, but whether or not he approves of that, he gets that Yuri is still trying to please him, just like the first time, and no other than Victor would have been able to figure out the words being said through such actions at that moment because he’s the one who created the routine.

Victor understands Yuri’s urge and restlessness to improve, because he has felt the same way countless of times, he’s been lecture by Yakov in the past for the same reasons, trying things that might seem reckless. And he knows that Yuri has not forgotten what is that he wants from him, what he is expecting from his performance. Yuri is greatful, he is so greatful for all what Victor’s done for him, he is repaying that with his skating, and that final smile shows that Victor knows.

How Yuri On Ice has destroyed “National Stereotypes”

Watching the episode 8, with the apparition of all these new characters I HAD to write this post.

And Finally tell everyone what I really think: Yuri On ice, in only 12 episodes, is literally DESTROYING the biggest barriers of our time. A sistematic and slow consumption that simultaneously is so NATURAL… So RIGHT that is shocking:

Yuri on Ice is RECREATING the Anime scene, episode by episode.

But in this post I want to speak particularly about only one of these surpassed obstacle: The social cultural one

Since the first trailer I have noticed how this show was different: a sportive anime in which the personages are from different country??? My first thought was: “Ok this could be revolutionary or could fail and be another national stereotyped anime”

For me this was a very IMPORTANT detail, because since I was a child I was affected by national stereotypes, I don’t like them and they don’t like me.

(I know that is stupid but really piss me off that In EVERY tv shows, films, tv series, anime There are only two kind of italian:

  1.  the half-aged man with black moustaches who is a pizza maker Or a mafious.
  2. The stupid guy who is filtratious and too lazy to do anything)

Substantially if this kind of stereotypes have only comical intent, I laugh and enjoy them.(Look about Hetalia, this anime intentionally exaggerate to make satira)

But with my horrors with the pass of time I realized that these categorizations are assimilated for real to my person…only because of my country.

So I found myself in strange and uncomfortable conversations like:

“Oh you’re italian, so you don’t wake up before 8 a.m.”

“C'mon you are so lucky! Italian guys are so pretty, and are very flirtatious!”

“AH italy, mafia, Berlusconi!”

“What this is your brother? Is he adopted? , italian don’t have red hair and fairy skin!”

My brother when has realized he was adopted ( this was very rude lol)

When I had this kind of discussion I was ALWAYS literally Shocked… at the point that I was really conditioned about my nationality and I always omitted where I were from.

The same happens with other countries as well!

I’ve always heard this kind of things:

“I went to Canada this summer, the boys are really kind but they’re not hot enough” (wtf maybe the boys who YOU have met)

“Mmh Russian boys are rigid af! They are so cold and all alcoholic!”

“Americans are black or white” (???????)

“I wouldn’t marry a Swiss. They are precise and rich but too haughty”

I know Phichit-kun… I had the same reaction.

In my opinion, this way of thinking creates a big GAP between different cultures so … even if in a first moment stereotypes can be funny, they’re a WRONG SIGNAL for general public.

But…Yuri On Ice is totally different from others shows.

The character’s characterization doesn’t refer to the normal national stereotypes but RESPECT every national identity and culture.

We can notice how every personage first of all is a HUMAN BEING but at the same time has precise cultural references.

So we have

GRUMPY AND NOT LOVE-INTERESTED ITALIANS

But even if they have their own personality, they didn’t renounce to their national identity.

For example let’s analyse this scene:

Viktor offers some chinese food to celestino who kindly refuses, saying that is not “his kind of food”.

We all know that Viktor  convince him and in the final scene we have a drunk Nikiforov

and a poisoned Celestino.

lol look at the shrimp near his mouth

Viktor in fact usally drink liquor and he seems to be used to it, without be an Alcoholic!.

While Celestino is not used to eat different food likes chinese food ‘cause maybe he is too much attached to italians’ (n.b.I don’t know if it is a casuality but this manner for real affect a lot of us, we are truly convinced that italian food is irreplaceable )

BUT this way of act is not EXAGGERATED, THEY ARE OF COURSE CONDITIONED BY THEIR CULTURE BUT THIS EFFECT DOESN’T DEFINE THEIR CHARACTER.

I just liked this gif…

In conclusion for the first time I feel comfortable watching a show in which there are a lot of different nationality.

Thorough Yuri On Ice we can KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN US AND EMBRACE THEM. We can appreciate ourselves for what we are and learn about others naturally without prejudices.
And I really like it.

It’s not about giving the guests what you think they want. That’s simple. The titillation, horror, elation. They’re parlor tricks. The guests don’t return for the obvious things we do, the garish things. They come back because of the subtleties, the details. They come back because they discover something they imagine no one had ever noticed before. Something they’ve fallen in love with. They’re not looking for a story that tells them who they are. They already know who they are. They’re here because they want a glimpse of who they could be.

*wheezes* (Please click for better quality…!!)

Very late, but I wanted to get this dang thing finally over and done with ;A; For Day 4 of Voltron Week: Day Off/Vacation. The Paladins have some time off so Allura starts teaching them one of her favorite Altean pastimes: dancing!

Meanwhile Coran… the little princess he took care of is not so little any more, and all these Altean dances bring back memories and it really hits them both that they are the last to pass on their traditions to others…sorry my thoughts got a bit heavy– also! First time drawing Coran!!

So, i know that episode 9′s last scene killed us all, but i want to take a moment to appreciate the rest of the episode, because there are so many lovely scenes and details.

Take this one, for example

This is Yuuri right before he begins his free program, he’s already on ice, ready to start, but looking at his face it’s clear how proccupied he is. And then we get this

His eyes fill with tears.

He doesn’t actually cry, so from the outside nobody can tell, but we get this beautiful shot from his point of view, so we know.

We know how much is going through his mind at this point, how much pressure he feels, especially since he already has anxiety. Because he has to do well to qualify for the Grand Prix Final and this is his last chance to do that (at least until next year). Because he wants to do well to make Victor proud, to make himself proud. Because he’s thinking that soon Victor will leave him, and if he doesn’t qualify that day will come even sooner. Because he misses Victor just being there for him, as a coach, as a friend, as a lover.

And yet despite all this, he still manages to skate well, not perfectly, sure, but I think it shows just how much Yuuri has grown from episode one, how much more confident he is in himself now and how he’s willing to put himself out there. Victor’s love has shown him how much strength he has always had.

This shot alone has so many feels. I think it’s details like this one that make this show so beautiful.

Here’s me trying to portray the normal/dark sides of each character (minus V+Unknown cuz they ain’t playable yet) In the order I played them, weirdly enough…

These didn’t come out quite the way I wanted them to, but I rather like them anyway. ^^ I will also reblog the submission for a more detailed description of things, but here’s the separate photos (I could only submit them as one)
