I NEED YOUR HELP. I WANNA UPDATE MY HEADER / ICON ETC BUT LIKE I WANT IT TO FIT MY MOBILE THEME WHICH IS RED WHITE AND BLUE SO DO YOU THINK RED WOULD LOOK COOL?? IDK WHAT I WANT FOR ICON BUT I WAS THINKING TØP OR FALL OUT BOY OR MCR IDK FAM

HMMMMM OKAY LETS THINK.

Well first of all you made me an amazing header so whatever you produce will be amazing.

Red would look awesome. I’ve never actually tried the red aesthetic (I really like it tho). I’ve mostly gone with blue and black before so I reckon you should just go for it if you want to.

TØP would probably suit the red white and blue theme but seriously, any pic would go with it. There are some really great MCR ones out there.

Examples:

Yeah so there ain’t many MCR one’s with red white AND blue but I’m probably just looking in the wrong places lol

Hope that helped x

My dear lgbt+ kids,

Some of you had questions about bi- or pansexuality, so here’s a quick FAQ!

“What’s the difference between bi and pan?”

Bi means “attracted to two or more genders”.

Pan means “attracted to all genders or regardless of gender”.

“Those definitions are a bit confusing to me!”

That’s okay, there’s nothing embarrassing about asking for clarification!

I’ll use some examples to explain them further:

Bianca is attracted to men and women. She identifies as bi.

Billy is attracted to men and nonbinary people. He identifies as bi, too.

Polly is attracted to people of any gender - except for men. She could identify as poly (attracted to multiple genders) or as bi (two or more genders!).

Penelope really doesn’t care about gender. She’s attracted to people, not specific genders - Penelope is pan.

Pete is attracted to girls. And boys. And agender people. And nonbinary people. And.. Oh, they are attracted to every gender. They are pan!

“Isn’t bi only for people who like girls and boys?”

Back when people weren’t really aware that nonbinary genders exist/that gender is a spectrum and not just two set categories, bisexuality was often defined as “attracted to girls and boys”. But nowadays we, as a community, are aware that gender and attraction is not as black and white as people used to believed and so the definition of bisexuality got broader to be more inclusive.

That’s why we now define bisexuality as “attracted to two or more genders”. Those genders can be binary or nonbinary!

Long story short, bi can mean “I like girls and boys” but that’s not the only possible meaning. Remember: Labels are made for people, not the other way around.

“I’m dating a nonbinary person, does that mean i have to identify as pan?”

No. People can date nonbinary people and identify with any label.

“Technically i fit the definition of pan but i feel more comfortable with the label bi. Is that okay?”

Yes! Your label is yours and only you can decide which label is the right one for you.

Many people feel this way because they used the label bi before they learned what pan means and now are already out as bi or already feel so comfortable with the label bi that they don’t feel the need to correct it. That’s fully okay!

Other people prefer bi because the term pan is less commonly known and they prefer to not have to explain their label over and over again. That’s okay, too!

“Can i be bi/pan and asexual at the same time?” and “I met someone who identifies as bi/pan and asexual! Is that even possible?”

Yes. Some people are romantically attracted to two, more or all genders but feel no sexual attraction. That’s not a contradiction!

A term to describe that is “biromantic asexual”/”panromantic asexual”. However, some people prefer to just say “bi asexual” or “pan asexual”.

Some people also experience fluidity in their level of attraction and might sometimes feel no sexual attraction and at other times feel attraction to two, more or all genders. That’s another possible explanation why someone might identify as bi/pan and asexual.

“Someone told me pan people are also attracted to animals and now i feel gross for using the term.”

That’s just something people say to insult lgbt+ people or to paint them as evil. Neither gay, bi nor pan people are attracted to animals.

“Attracted to all genders” (obviously) means “attracted to humans of all genders.”. Don’t let any lgbt+-phobes run a perfectly harmless label for you, my dear.

“I’m bi/pan and currently in a girl/boy relationship, am i still lgbt+?”

Yes! People who identify as bi or pan are part of the lgbt+ community, no matter who they date. You don’t need to be in a same-sex relationship to be allowed to identify as lgbt+.

You are not “betraying” or “invading” the lgbt+ community. I know you’ll sadly encounter people who say such mean things but they are wrong. Your idenity is valid regardless of your relationship status or dating history.

With all my love,

Your Tumblr Mom

So I was just looking at the paladin armour and I noticed something. It’s made up of two parts, right, the white armour and the black bodysuit they wear underneath

So the black part in the middle…that’s the bodysuit. Yes? So basically the armour they’re wearing is a crop top and thigh highs

Dear White People.....

Y’all, really have been trying me lately, so with inspiration from the movie and Netflix show and all shit that has been happening lately, here is a list of things to not do or say to POCs

*DISCLAIMER* THIS IS NOT A RACIST POST! THIS IS JUST AN INFORMATIVE POSTOF THE SITUATIONS THAT POC PEOPLE DEAL WITH! PLEASE DON’T BE STUPID

Dear white people

-I am not a petting zoo. When my hair is curly, don’t randomly come up to me and start touching my hair without asking me. It’s rude and disgusting.

Dear white people

-If I see you with cornrolls, don’t tell that it’s a “style and that anyome can wear”. NO! Having braids isn’t just a style to us, it is our culture and there is a reason for why we get out hair braided.

Dear white people

-Don’t you ever fucking say “well its culture appropiation if you straighten your hair” because now you sound dumb. Here’s a fun fact, POCs can have naturally straight hair too.

Dear white people

-If you support Miley Cyrus on her “transitioning” back to her old self, don’t talk to me, don’t follow, unfollow, I don’t care. I will NEVER support a person who culture appropiated and then talks about is it was just a phase and that she doesn’t do that kind of stuff. It pissed me the fuck of that she could just sit here and “rap”. To us, rap isn’t just entertainment but it is an outlet for us to  give out messages on all of the this we go. She really just disrespectedall that we have done, made it into a shit show to get ratings, and tossed it away like it’s nothing.

Dear white people

-Stop telling me “you talk proper for being black.” EVERYONE TALKS A DIFFERENT WAY SO SHUT THE FUCK UP!

Dear white people

-STOP FUCKING CELEBRATING CINCO DE MAYO, IT IS NOT OUR HOLIDAY!!

Frankly, I don’t even know if Mexico considers it as a holiday, but we should not be sitting here, “celebrating” anothers country’s victory, from a battle they had to fight,

How would you feel if other countries went out and “celebrated” Memorial Day by partying, getting drunk, wearing Trump shirts, talking with country accent, while listening to Taylor Swift.

Yeah, now y’all quiet.

Dear white people

-DON’T FUCKING SAY NIGGA!!!!!! I DON’T CARE IF IT IS THE SONG, DON’T FUCKING SAY IT!!!!!!!!!!

Dear white people

-If there is a post about a POC, DO NOT: Comment, retweet, or reblog, with the comment of “all peopl are this…” NOBODY FUCKING ASKED YOU, AND THAT IS NOT THE POINT OF THE POST! IF THE POST SAYS “BLACK WOMEN ARE BEAUTIFUL” JUST GIVE IT THE CLAP EMOJI, THE HEART EYES EMOJI, THE THUMBS UP EMOJI! THAT’S IT!!!! NOTHING MORE!!

Dear white people

-I’m allergic to watermelon and kool-aid is disgusting.

Dear white people

-My braids do not indicate that I smoke weed. I actually have asthma, so even if I did want to, I’d die.

Dear white people

-”I’m not trying to be racist, but….” THEN DON’T FUCKING SAY IT!!!!! SIMPLE AS THAT!!!!!!!!

Dear white people

-Once you get done asking me “is there anything I can help you find” and I answer with “no thank you”, leave me the fuck alone and go help Debbie in the panty department! I don’t want to see your face while I am in the juniors department, I don’t see you while I’m at the makeup counter, I don’t want to see while I’m at the shoe section. I’m not stealing shit so leave me that fuck alone!

Dear white people (makeup companies)

-I’m pretty sure that there are other names for darker foundations than just food

-Nude colors do not just stop at the pale pinks.

-Please make fondations with yellow undertones, because I am so tired of looking like Trump, when the foundation has an orange/red undertone.

-How hard it to find a POC, to do swatches on them!?!? Like come on! I want to know how it will look like on my skin tone, before buy it!

-I’m going to need y’all to go back to school and you know what Rich, Deep, and Dark look like.

Dear white people

-My race is NOT a fetish, stop it with the ra.ce pl.ay shit!

Dear white people

-My race is NOT A WEAPON! STOP “FEARING” FOR YOUR LIVES!

-My race is NOT A SCAPE GOAT! IF I AM YOUR FRIEND, DO NOT USE MY RACE AS AN EXCUSE TO DO INAPPROPIATE THINGS!

-My race is NOT UP FOR DISCUSION! I am black, native american and caribbean. Don’t tell me what I am because of my skin tone. That goes for all other races and ethnicity.

So is what I have dealt with, within the last month and all my life. I hope you guys take something out of this.

Also to POCs, if there is anything you want to add, feel free to.

Mixed Black African Girl (Cameroonian/French)

I’m a mixed black african girl who grew up and lived most of her life in Cameroon, in Central Africa. My dad is half-white (french) and half-black (cameroonian), and my mom is 100% cameroonian. There’s little to no black african characters in popular fiction, which has always bothered me, and it would be so nice to read about someone like me for once.

  • Culture and food

Cameroon is a country created during colonization, with borders defined by europeans. Because of that, Cameroon is actually made of 200 ethnic groups, each of them having their own language and culture. So the culture and daily habits vary a lot depending on which region of Cameroon you are in. In the big cities, though, everyone is mingled no matter where they’re from. However, so many different ethnic groups cohabiting together often causes tension. There are also a lot of stereotypes about every ethnic group.

I grew up in the central and coastal areas of the country, and I’m Bassa. The Bassa are one of the main ethnic groups in Cameroon. If your parents are from two different ethnic groups, it is decided that you officially belong to your father’s ethnic group. My mother is Bakoko but my father is Bassa, so I’m the latter. When I meet another Cameroonian, two of the first questions we usually ask each other are : What are you (meaning, what’s your ethnic group) ? and Where is you village ?

Villages are very important in the Cameroonian culture. Your village is where your father’s ancestors were born. Even if you’re not born there, you usually have grandparents or great-uncles or family friends living there, and if you have enough money to do so you must regularly visit your village. And usually, when people earn enough money, they send money to their village so that people living there can have a better life, build more houses and schools etc.

Cameroonian food is very diverse, and varies depending on the region. The national dish is Ndolé, a dish made with ndolé leaves, stewed nuts, and meat (fish, beef or shrimps). Other common foods are bobolo and miondo (food made out of fermented manioc), soya (spicy grilled meat on skewers), and plantain. My dad is half-french though, so at home we eat almost as much french food as cameroonian food (crème brûlée, shepherd’s pie, beef bourguignon, A LOT of bread and cheese).

  • Language

There are hundreds of different languages, but the official languages are French and English. Cameroon was colonized by France and England so Northern Cameroon mainly speaks english and central/southern Cameroon mainly speaks french. Most people also speak their ethnic group’s language. I don’t know how to speak Bassa, though, because neither do my parents. When me and my siblings were kids, our dad asked our baby-sitter to teach us, but she could only do so much and I only remember a few words.

  • Beauty Standards

Like most countries, there is a lot of colorism in Cameroon based on European beauty standards. When you’re a woman, the lighter you are, the prettier and more desirable you are considered. Dark skinned women are often mocked and considered not as pretty. A lot of people, mainly women but also men, use dangerous products to lighten their skin. Internalized racism and white beauty standards are very insidious, and a lot of people want to look like white people, including me when I was younger. As a kid I remember wishing i was a pretty blonde-haired blue-eyed white girl like the heroines of the books i was reading. Growing up I stopped wishing that, but I relaxed and straightened my hair a lot, wanting to have long straight hair without realizing that it was still an attempt to look like the ideal version of a white girl. I’m sure that if I had more black female characters to relate to when I was growing up, I wouldn’t have spend so many years hating myself without even realizing I was doing it.

Also, Cameroonians usually consider thick, curvy women to be the ideal beauty standard. But being thin is still an ideal broadcast by the media (especially that american and european media are heavily broadcast and consumed in Cameroon) so most women still diet a lot and go to the gym to lose weight.

  • Clothing

Women wear a lot of skirts and dresses, be it casual or for work. Most cameroonian schools have uniforms and mandatory hairstyles (either cornrows or short shaved hair).

Elderly people often wear more traditional clothes and outfits. The most prominent traditional item of clothing is the Kaba. The Kaba is a long dress made of wax fabric and other materials and is owned by pretty much every woman. The dress looks different depending on the situation : the Kaba you wear when you stay at home is usually very long and very loose, the Kaba you wear during official/formal events is more tight-fitting and stylized, etc.

  • Dating and Relationships

I’ve never dated anyone, but when I was in high school none of my friends ever told their parents they were seeing someone. Having your parents know about and meet the person you’re dating after only a few weeks or months is something that just doesn’t happen (unless someone gets pregnant). It’s when things get serious that you introduce them to your family. Also, a lot of parents would prefer their children to marry someone from the same ethnic group.

Homosexuality is still illegal there, and you can go to jail for being gay.

  • Home/Family life

My parents are still happily married, and I have 3 siblings. My parents are both close to their siblings, and I’m close to mine. Me and my siblings grew up with our cousins, we were always at each other’s houses. I pretty much consider most of my cousins as extra siblings. We have a very big extended family and every day I discover new distant cousins, aunts, great-uncles etc. My dad being half-french, when I was growing up we sometimes went to France during summer to visit his relatives living there.

In Cameroon, most people who have enough money to do so send their children to study abroad once they’ve graduated high school. I’m currently living in France for my studies, and most of my high school friends are also going to college in France, England, Canada, Brussels, South Africa etc.

  • Identity issues

Despite being only ¼ white, I’m very light-skinned. My siblings being much darker skinned, when I was a kid I thought I was adopted (i’m not, it’s just genetics). Cameroon being a black country, when someone is visibly mixed and light-skinned as i am, most people just label them “white”. A lot of people would refer to me as “the white” and it always really hurt me. My family wouldn’t understand why i was so angry and hurt, they’d say “they don’t mean anything by it, it’s just that you’re light” but the fact is it made me feel like i don’t belong. I’m cameroonian, i’ve lived in Cameroon almost my entire life, i’m black, and still some people see me as “other”, they see me as white. And so for a long time, I didn’t dare to call myself black, I’d say “I’m biracial” or “I’m mixed” instead because I somehow felt like a fraud. But I’m black and not white-passing at all, and I still experience racism abroad (but I’m aware I have a lot more privilege than dark skinned people).

  • Daily struggles

So I’m currently living in France. On one hand, sometimes white people are racist toward me, or just totally obnoxious and ignorant, trying to touch my natural hair and thinking that people in Cameroon don’t have computers or whatever. On the other hand, when I randomly meet other cameroonians and we start talking, they always assume that because i’m mixed i’ve lived my entire life in France and i don’t know anything about Cameroon. And there’s nothing wrong with being a child of immigrants and not knowing the country your parents or grandparents came from, but i know that if i wasn’t visibly mixed they wouldn’t question the fact that i know Cameroon and lived there my entire life.

  • Misconceptions

Because of how the media depict African countries, a lot of people think that everyone in Africa is extremely poor and starving, that we don’t have electricity and internet and that everyone lives in huts. Which is so false. We have rich people and poor people, we have huge modern cities and regular cities and small villages with huts, almost everyone has access to a tv and internet, etc.

  • Things I’d like to see less of

Cameroon and other african countries being depicted as poor unfortunate countries where everyone is starving and illiterate and waiting for the generous white people to save us. What we need is for people to see us as the humans we are, and to allow us to grow in peace.

  • Things I’d like to see more of

Black african characters being written as the complex human beings we are. Shy black african characters. Nerdy and hella smart black african characters. Mixed black african characters who struggle with their identity. LGBTQ black african characters.

  • Tropes/Stereotypes I’m tired of seeing.

The “savage”, “uncivilized” african. African characters who are aggressive, dumb and shout all the time. The poor africans in need of saving by white people.

Reasons To Love Svt

  • not so Subjectively the best group ever
  • They were supposed to debut years before they actually did
  • The fact they kept going after something like that
  • Like we get upset when a single members been training for a long time cough sm rookies cough
  • But svt as a group had to wait
  • But when they did debut they were such a hit
  • Like carats couldn’t be more proud
  • They grew in popularity so fast too
  • We couldn’t be more proud
  • The relationships between the members is half the fun
  • They love each other like family so much
  • Constantly looking out for each other
  • Seungkwan feeling bad about his body?
  • 12 other members will be right by his side to reassure him he’s perfect just the way he is
  • Mingyu messing with the filters because he’s worried about his skin color?
  • Someone will be saying he doesn’t need a filter within seconds
  • When chan graduated a good handful went to go see him
  • Like if that isn’t love what is?
  • With 13 members you’d think someone is bound to get left out
  • And not that it doesn’t always happen
  • The members do make efforts to include each other
  • They are always having fun no matter how tired they are or how late it is
  • Turning lights out on each other when they are taking showers
  • Playing rock paper scissors at restaurants to see who has to ask the owner to play their songs
  • You can just tell they genuinely love each other like family
  • Like lets be real
  • If you spent so much of your time with that large amount of people
  • You would totally find someone, if not multiple people that clash with your personalty
  • And i’m sure these guys have had that happen
  • But they’ve worked past that
  • To the point where us fans cant even tell
  • And boy we find out a lot of things lol
  • What Im trying to say is that they are totally accepting of each other and i find that amazing
  • They love their carats so much
  • So so much
  • Like when they each wrote an encouraging letter for students taking the SAT
  • The amount of work they put into making their performances perfect for their carats
  • They’ve been through so much for us
  • They always bow so deeply at their concerts and it breaks me
  • Seventeen in carat land was honestly the most beautiful thing
  • Their carats love them just as much, if not more
  • Like ask a carat what they love about svt
  • And they will either go on for hours
  • And never run out of things to say
  • Or just be so overwhelmed they can’t even say anything
  • Because their love for the boys is just too much
  • Its adorable
  • All of them are super sweet people
  • Constantly encouraging the members
  • And always so content with anything svt gives us like
  • Carats are so sweet

  • All the carrot puns we can make and they make
  • They are literally a giant meme
  • And they never fail to put a smile on our face
  • Idk if yall have noticed but svt has been making an effort to be more active on social media
  • They even did live shows on instagram
  • And they’ve posted so much stuff on all their social media
  • They blessed us with their dance covers of happiness and wild eye
  • Synchronization kings
  • When i first saw wild eye i was so confused
  • Because i thought my video had frozen
  • But nope
  • That was just part of the dance
  • They have such a unique style
  • Like three units but one group
  • And they still all function as one working group
  • 13 members, 3 units, 1 team = Seventeen
  • Hella attractive
  • Like seventeen is just made up of 13 visuals
  • Everything they do is so amazingly aesthetic
  • Their music is perfect
  • That one time we thought we were getting a dark concept
  • And it said Only for today
  • And we were like !!!!!!!!
  • But they literally meant only for one day
  • It was just a black and white filter
  • And we were freaking speechless
  • Lmao that was a wild time
  • But the fact that even the rappers can sing
  • And it sounds like heaven
  • They are all really respectful
  • We’ve all heard stories from staff thats worked with them
  • And there is never anything bad to say about them
  • They cover girl groups in a respectful way and aren’t making fun of the songs like pretty much every other boy group out there
  • They aren’t in it for the fame
  • They just want to make music
  • Cause i mean, lets be real, if their only goal was to be famous they wouldn’t have have ended up at Pledis lol
  • They are super super humble
  • How hype they get with each other
  • They are their number one fans
  • No one loves svt more than svt loves them
  • Its fantastic
  • Freaking Bong Bong
  • Our lovely Kim Bong Bong
  • The fact that bongbongie represents the fans
  • And they have named it genderless
  • And hoshi broke down the stereotype that pretty eyes equals girl
  • Like when will your faves ever?
  • Their stages are freaking lit
  • They go all out
  • Whether youre there at the concert or watching a video of it
  • You’ll get super pumped
  • And you can just feel the passion radiating out of the video
  • Because they put 110% into everything they do
  • Stanning svt is like finding a new home
  • Everyone is welcoming and warm
  • The guys just make you smile all the time
  • No matter what they are doing
  • Their love is neverending
  • And everything is so personal and relatable
  • It feels like you know them personally and not like they are some famous untouchable group
  • Everything about them just makes me smile and they can improve my mood like no other group

Tony Stark, a white male character whose three solo movies alone have made almost $2.5 Billion USD in ticket sales (ETA: You frickers knew that’s what I meant…) and who shows up in or is centered in stories he has no business in, is basically the LAST character that needs a defense squad or legion…

anonymous asked:

ur post about fic & racism in the supergirl fandom really got me thinking (especially about my own biases so thank you) but also like, how there’s this incredibly pervasive but subtle new form of racism I haven’t seen b4 in other fandoms? Like on one hand u have this loud condemnation of how racist monel is & how he was a slave owner blabh blah but no corresponding attention given to the existing Black characters. 1/4

I get wlw not wanting to write m/f fic but a lot of the fandom doesn’t reblog (or make) any of the gifsets, they don’t meta for him they don’t call for more screen time for Mehcad. Same for M’gann. SO many posts talking about how awful monel is compare him to Lena and strangely don’t mention the Black female character who also came from an oppressive society to become a hero? And there are like, idk, 4 people? Who write or post wlw fic with M’gann in it? 2/4

Same with Maggie. A huge segment of fandom decided Floriana is white (even tho hollywood clearly won’t cast her in roles for white women) so they use that as an excuse to exclusively stan the very light skinned white wlw. And the way it carries over to the characters, like, okay Flo is white? but Maggie is absolutely treated like a woc in how parts of fandom aggressively ignore her & find ways to demonize her character while overtly supporting lighter skinned characters ¾

And that same part of the fandom doesn’t ever seem to create content for Lucy or Vasquez either. IDK this isn’t something u can probably explore with stats but ur post really got me thinking and it just feels really gross now bc I see all these posts condemning racism but there’s still this extreme perpetuation of privileging white characters at the same time? & I haven’t seen this particular trend in fandom b4 4/4

Oh, anon, this made my day. I have a bunch of notes waiting in a doc to address the whole Mon-El thing with regard to the racist undertones and the rhetoric used by the show to frame his storyline, and I will do my best to write it before the season comes back again, because I genuinely think they tried to aim high and just … missed completely. (But I make no promises because my thesis defense is on Tuesday.)

To your first point re: fandom attitudes – I was surprised in the early half of S2 when so many people came out of the woodwork making posts in the main tag like “wait, why did they get rid of Kara/James??” because, oh right, nobody acted like they cared for almost twelve straight months. If y’all were so okay with this ship, where were you to acknowledge its social significance when it was canon? Where are you now? Why hasn’t there been an outpouring of tweets week after week at the execs and the writers for sidelining an interracial couple in favor of what we’re getting, especially since the storyline literally handwaved away human trafficking and slavery as minor plot points?

Not only that, when there’s unrealized potential for a non-canon ship there is typically an outpouring of fic in response, and while there’s been a statistically significant amount of new Karolsen fic in S2 because it’s pretty easy to top zero percent, the writing there is not keeping pace with any of the other dude-involved pairings.

And you’re right, anon: it is not possible to prove anything with stats. HOWEVER, thanks to the addition of these new characters for S2, I *am* at the point now where it’s possible to see correlation between character race and fan engagement with different pairing choices. And the bias is there, whether it’s in the het pairings, the femslash, or even the m/m pairings. The whole reason I started tracking fic outputs in the first place was that any attempt to have this conversation last year devolved into yelling and finger-pointing because “you have no proof!” that racial bias is a thing. Except, yanno, all the POC who live with it daily saying that it’s a thing. Well, congratulations y’all: your choices leave digital footprints behind that are pretty easy to follow and chart for everyone to see.

This isn’t actually a new problem, by the way – racism and preferencing of white pairing happens a lot, in almost every fandom. The only difference maybe is that I’ve experimented with quantifying it, which is not something that people usually do when they study fandoms or fan behavior.

It pains me to no end that M’gann has been so overlooked, because her story has just as many dark character beats to it as Lena’s, if not more, plus the added bonus of her sharing a sense of “otherness” with Kara in a way that few other people can. And there is no way the disinterest in that pairing isn’t about race, because there are a whole bunch of ships from S1 between white women who’d never even met each other in canon that have more romantic fics than M’gann/anyone.

And the nonsense about Floriana, which I’ll remind everyone again was started by a white girl, had a demonstrable chilling effect on interest in Sanvers as a pairing. Like. I can actually show that on paper. And you’re absolutely right with what you said above, which bears repeating: Maggie is absolutely treated like a woc in how parts of fandom aggressively ignore her & find ways to demonize her character.

There’s also a treatment of Floriana herself that reminds me uncomfortably of how people went out of their way to demonize Naya Rivera’s personal life whenever she reminded the world she was black instead of just “very tan.” And a lot of the rhetoric people are using to talk about Floriana’s racial heritage is almost verbatim the same as what you’ll find on white supremacist discussion boards about Italian people. I’d love to think this is an accident, but I’ve made some people pretty angry for pointing this out in the past, so I suspect it’s at least partially deliberate.

Lucy was another case that drove me insane, for two reasons:

  1. The vast majority of femslash fans flat-out ignored her as a romantic choice even though there were a whole lot of good reasons to ship her with either Kara or Alex, and a whole lot less negative reasons not to. (And it’s not like Supercat was already dominating the scene before Lucy’s character was introduced. That ship only became popular after the movie Carol came out during the winter hiatus of S1.)
  2. People had the same fight last year about whether or not Lucy counted as a WOC and ultimately insisted that the answer was no. But then people kept on ignoring her anyway like somehow dubiously legal boss/employee relationships, potential treason, and incest were more logical bases for attraction.

Also, to the people who have been like “oh yay we could’ve had Dichen as Maggie, a real WOC” like somehow this would have made the fandom love her more – you’re full of shit. If you mean that, why has there been so little fic about Dichen as Roulette? Like, last year there were a whole bunch of shipfics featuring Livewire. There was Kara/Siobhan. And yet … no dark scenarios of Supergirl/Roulette? No Alex ones? There were even a bucketload of those for each Danvers sister + Max Lord, and this fandom isn’t even that into dudes. You’re telling me no one is interested in this kind of hero/villain dynamic with the Asian chick and somehow that’s not also about race?

tl;dr I suspect that a decent chunk of this problem is the result of subconscious bias, but some of it’s not. And what’s really sad about it is that, for all the talk on Tumblr about representation being important, we’re really doing no better as media producers than Hollywood when it comes to race. If anything, we might actually be doing worse.

“My home is protected” Spell

Hey all witches alike! I just made my very first spell and it worked WONDERS so I thought I would share it with you!

This spell acts like the spell that was put up around the castle in the Harry Potter: Deathly Hallows film. It has sort of a protective dome feeling to it, almost hidden from negative energy.

What you need:

- a white or black candle (both would be ideal)

- protective incense, in this spell I used a mix of Amber, Cedar, Pine and Sandle

- loose sage and a fire-proof container

- Smokey Quartz or clear quartz (again, both would be ideal)

- Blue Kyanite crystal for an extra boost of energy

Arrange the incense in the middle, surrounded by the crystals (placement is up to you!) with the white candle on your left and the sage on your right. Do this near a window that will open close to the entry of your house/apartment. Breathe onto the window and in the fog draw your favourite protection sigil, charge it with your intent, then carry the energy in your hands as you turn towards the rest of the room and hand it to the flame of your candle. Then say:

My home is protected,

nothing shall pass.

As I open this window,

let the smoke carry out the dark…

~open your window, take a deep breath in, then exhale, envisioning all the negative energies leaving your space~

And as I close this window,

let it be a barrier.

Only light can enter now.

As I wish, so it shall be.

~close your window~

When you’re done, let your candle burn and blow out the sage and incense. If you try this, let me know how it works! (:

anonymous asked:

So I reading chapter 90 and just WOW!!!! Is all I have to say. I love that Deku says it can't be anyone but Kirishima. But can you explain that a little more please! But only if you have time.

The timestamp on this ask tells me I’ve been thinking about it for eight hours and right this moment I just decided, fuck it, the day after the anniversary sounds like a perfect moment to lose my shit over chapter 90 again, let’s do this

So the short answer in case you don’t have time for a trip through ninety chapters of the bnha manga is, Kirishima has with Bakugou a relationship unlike nearly anyone else, based on mutual trust and faith in each other’s strength and the firm understanding that neither of them is putting themselves above the other ever, and that made it so that in the group of people present at the moment Kirishima was the only one Bakugou would have willingly accepted help from, so that’s why it had to be him

That’s some great foundation for a mutually respectful relationship if I’ve ever seen one and my heart weeps a lot

BUT I said I was gonna cry about this properly so let’s do this let’s just go back to the beginning of the manga anon my pal I need you to understand why everything about that chapter has me in tears still even though it’s been a year and probably a thousand read-through’s

(this is seriously image heavy I’m so sorry oops)

RFA with an MC who is seeing colour for the first time!

inspired by one of @anyway-i-love-vanderwood minor trio reactions (because I have no requests and I honestly think this is the cutest idea).

I made this an MC with complete colour blindness- also known as achromatopsia- which is the most severe form of colour blindness and results in seeing only in monochrome (black and white).

Yoosung:

✮ you both got your eye surgeries at the same time
✮ he was so excited to see you completely and he was smiling so wide as you both saw each other in the waiting room of the clinic
✮ you haven’t said anything yet
✮ he asks you what you’re thinking about
✮ you just
✮ “your eyes. what colour are they?”
✮ ‘they’re purple’ “I love them. I love purple.”
✮ is blushing so hard and he just hugs you super hard
✮ holds your hand while you slowly walk outside
✮ he doesn’t wanna overwhelm you
✮ gets excited with you as you run around looking at everything
✮ he cries a lil he’s just so happy for you

Jaehee:

✎ you decided to surprise her at work with a really colourful outfit (that, admittedly, looks a little ridiculous)
✎ it takes you a while to get to the cafe because ‘wow! those flowers are so pretty’ ‘what colour is that person’s shirt?’
✎ when she sees you she’s kinda surprised because you don’t usually wear colours because you don’t know what they actually look like
✎ she goes up to you and is like ‘MC your outfit is very… different’
✎ but you’re smile is bigger than your face
✎ and you say that the colour of the walls is very nice
✎ ‘yeah, thanks’
✎ doesn’t realise at first
✎ you just stand there staring at her for a while until she gets it
✎ ‘wait,,,, whAT’
✎ hugs you and spins you around
✎ is super giddy when you tell her you love her eyes

Zen:

✽ is sitting in front of you
✽ you’re looking around like ‘woah wtf’
✽ and he’s like ‘MC look at me! look at me!’
✽ because that’s just what he’s like
✽ you look at him with bright eyes
✽ and then,,, ‘your hair is the same’
✽ is kinda disheartened until you grab his face and just stare really closely at his eyes
✽ ‘woahhhh’
✽ ‘what colour are you eyes?’
✽ he’s super excited and proud when he tells you they’re red
✽ admires your amazed expression as you kinda tilt his head to look at different perspective
✽ is so excited to take you everywhere and loves how excited you get
✽ tries to brag to all his fellow actors that you can now see colour
✽ and they don’t really get it??
✽ and zen just realises how everyone takes colour for granted~~

Jumin:

₩ he paid for the surgery
₩ of course
₩ when you see him you’re like ???
₩ ‘jumin it didn’t work??!’ yikes
₩ he’s like ‘wtf are you talking about i will SUE THIS HOSPITAL’
₩ then the doctor comes in with a colour chart and you’re like
₩ ‘oh,,,’
₩ ‘oHH’
₩ and then look back at jumin and you’re like
₩ ‘your hair and eyes are black,,, you’re still as beautiful as I remember!!’
₩ and he’s just ‘omggg’
₩ holds your hand and lets you drag him around
₩ LOVES WALKING THROUGH HIS GARDEN WITH YOU
₩ IT’S HIS FAVOURITE ACTIVITY EVER
₩ he loves listening to you rant on about all the colours and how pretty they are
₩ even if he already knows
₩ he admires how beautifully you describe everything

Seven/Saeyoung:

⌨  made you a pair of those sunglasses (i have no idea if this would work with full colour blindness but,,, we’re doin it anyway)
⌨  he puts them on you while you’re sitting face to face
⌨  you have your eyes closed when he’s putting them on and then open them after
⌨  you practically lunge at him
⌨  he yells he was not expecting that
⌨  you just kind of stroke his hair and lie on him looking at it
⌨  he is s h o o k
⌨  he thought you were cute before?
⌨  bAM
⌨  cuteness level x38927839257
⌨  he doesn’t really wanna go outside so he’s like
⌨  ‘my monitor is super HD you can just see all the colours in the comfort of our house!’
⌨  you drag him outside
⌨  he decides that it was definitely worth it
⌨  he gets excited with you
⌨  you’re like ‘the grass is so… gREEN?!’
⌨  and he like forgets what the world was like and goes ‘omg yOU’RE RIGHT’
⌨  ‘seven why did you get glasses like that?’
⌨  immediately tries to take the glasses off
