‘Medusa’ Angela Hadrill

This piece was created in response to an amazing talk “Women in Power” by Mary Beard in which, among other things, she discusses the origins of the medusa myth and its depictions in modern design.

Just started using up a small batch of tanned rattlesnake skin i have had sitting around from a trade : ) 
Was saving it to make something simple but durable since snake skin can be incredibly fragile. 
So i mounted little pieces behind a rounded glass cabochon to magnify the patterning and scales as well as offer a nice glass layer of protection for the skin <3
The patterns and textures look like strange planets and cloudy moons!
