Adrien isn’t sure what to do with himself at school. Marinette
is sitting behind him, most likely taking notes on the lesson he can’t focus
on. Marinette is sitting behind him, with the perfect view of the back of his
head. Marinette is sitting behind him, completely oblivious to the fact that
he’s Chat Noir. He wants, quite desperately, to turn around and talk to her.
The problem, as he found out earlier that morning, is that Adrien and Marinette
aren’t all that close. He doesn’t know how to initiate a conversation with her.
When Madame Bustier lets them work on a worksheet in small
groups, Adrien jumps on the opportunity.
“Hey Marinette, Alya, do you want to work with Nino and me?”
Nino looks at him, surprised, but Adrien ignores him.
Instead, he gives all his attention to Marinette, who isn’t even looking at
“Sure!” Alya elbows Marinette. “You’d like to work with
Adrien and Nino, right Marinette?”
“Uh, y-yeah. Yes. Of course,” Marinette stutters, nodding
her head vigorously. She finally looks his way, locking her blue eyes on him.
He throws his most charming smile at her but she looks away before he thinks it
can really work its magic.
“I am Groot,” Peter said dutifully. He felt like an idiot, but there were only a limited number of ways to while away quiet nights on the ship when neither of them could sleep. If it was him and Gamora, or him and Drax, they could spar, but he’d only tried sparring with Rocket once. It took weeks for the bite marks to heal.
Rocket’s oddly expressive – for a raccoon – face wrinkled in an expression of disgust. “Do you even hear yourself? That is nothing like what I just said.”
“Dude, that is exactly what you just said.”
“No, I said ‘I am Groot’ and you said ‘I am Groot’.”
“Which is … the same?”
Rocket stared at him for a long moment, then pointed at his snout. “Read my lips: I am Groot.”
“Was I supposed to repeat that, or …”
Rocket showed some teeth. Peter shut up. There was a moment of silence and Peter was just about to put his earbuds back in and quit with the language lessons when Rocket said suddenly, “Quill, if I say, 'I am Groot,’ just like that, what do you hear?”
“Is this a trick question? Especially the kind of trick question that’s gonna end in you pissing on my bed?”
“That was only once, and you had it coming –”
“No, for the love o’ cheese, it’s not a trick question. Just say 'I am Groot’.”
“I am Groot,” Peter said. “I feel like a complete jackass right now, in case that was your intent – hey, where are you going?”
“Jus’ need to get a thing!” Rocket’s voice trailed behind him.
Peter flopped back down in the chair in the mess and put his earbuds in. He was actually getting sleepy, and considering going back to bed, when Rocket jumped up onto the table in front of him with something clutched in his paws.
“What’s that?” Peter asked, sitting up. He palmed off the Zune and took off the earpieces. He had to hand it to Earth tech: the new music player was a lot more convenient to carry around than his late, lamented Walkman.
Rocket’s device was a thin, flat screen about the size of a hardback book; he had it clutched with a paw on each side while readouts rippled quickly across it.
“Okay, now say 'I am Groot’,” Rocket declared, studying the screen.
“Come on, man, do we really have to go through this again?”
Peter sighed and slouched in his chair. “I am Groot.”
Rocket’s ears pricked forward. “I am Groot,” he said, and tapped the display with his paw, causing the tiny, scrolling lines and numbers to freeze. “Did that sound the same to you?”
“Well … yeah?”
The flat pads of Rocket’s fingers danced across the display, and he laid the screen on the table between them. “Know what you’re lookin’ at?”
“Squiggly lines,” Peter said automatically.
“Did your mama drop you on the head a lot as a baby, Quill?”
“No, but Yondu did occasionally.” Peter rested his elbow on the table and his chin in his hand. As much fun as it was to mess with Rocket, he did actually think he knew what the raccoon was getting at. “That wiggly line is some kind of … uh … noise – wiggle – curve, right?”
“That’s real precise.”
“I was abducted from Earth before we got to algebra in school. Cut me some slack here.”
“Excuses, excuses. I was raised in a cage and my mother had an IQ of 3.” Rocket touched the display, zooming in on it. “Point is, I don’t think it’s just that all a’ you two-legged bunch is too obtuse to understand perfectly clear speech –”
“– like I used to think. It’s more like, my ears hear at higher and lower frequencies than yours do, so I get different overtones. Put simply for the simple, I can hear things you can’t.”
Peter leaned forward, intrigued. “So, wait – you mean all this time, all his 'I am Groot’s sound different to you?”
He realized what he’d said as soon as the words left his mouth, and got the flat 'I am dealing with morons’ look from Rocket that he’d instantly realized he had coming. “How am I supposed to understand him if they don’t, Quill, I ask you?”
“Okay – point – but … so why does it sound like 'I am Groot’ to the rest of us?”
“It sounds like 'I am Groot’ to me too.” When Peter glowered at him, Rocket held up a paw. “No, I ain’t messin’ with ya. This time. No, that’s what the translation unit picks up, 'cause it ain’t so smart about some of the less humanoid languages. It’s just, I hear it like …” He hesitated and waggled his paw. “It’s like your music, right? All those up and down tones at the same time. Groot can do that. Your throat, my throat, can’t.”
“Singing?” Peter said after a minute. “Groot’s singing?”
“I refer you back to the part about bein’ dropped on your head.” Rocket pursed his lips and let out a sharp whistle, making Peter jump – there was still some part of him that couldn’t quite hear whistling and not expect a death arrow to follow an instant later. And he might not be the only one, because Rocket stopped abruptly, closed his mouth, and then said, “Quill, do this,” and hummed softly.
It wasn’t really a tune. “You just want me to hum?” Peter asked. “Like, generic humming?”
Rocket curled his lip and the hum became more of a snarl.
“Right, humming,” Peter said hastily.
The funny thing was, the instant his soft hum of response hit the right harmonics with the note Rocket was humming (and the raccoon did have a good sense of pitch; Peter had always suspected so) he understood exactly what Rocket was getting at.
“Ohhhhh. When Groot talks, it’s like a symphony. Is that what you mean? And the 'I am Groot’ part is the part in the human audible range.”
Rocket’s ears and tail went up cheerfully. “Yeah, ezzactly. He’s tryin’ to communicate, it’s just he didn’t get any farther than 'I am Groot’ when he was learning. It’s as hard for him to do the talkin’ part for the translators as it is for you and me to do his kind of talk. He can hear us just fine, though. Actually to him, understanding our talk is dead easy.”
“So how do we understand him?” Peter asked. “Can you, I dunno, juice up the translator so it picks up a higher range of frequencies, or something?”
“I dunno. That’s not a bad idea.” Rocket tapped his claw against his teeth before picking up the screen thing and hopping off the table. “Have to think on it. Don’t wanna explode your heads or anything.”
“Yeah, well, on that lovely note, I’m goin’ to bed.” He actually was tired enough now to fall asleep in spite of the inevitable nightmares (the bitter cold and darkness of space; Ego’s face dissolving in his hands; his friends crushed by rocks or blown apart). The music helped as it always had, a melodic bulwark against the dark, wrapped gently around his heart – but it could only do so much.
Rocket grunted absently as he trotted off, already engrossed in figuring out the problem.
The thought occurred to Peter as he wandered back to his quarters, thumbing idly through the songs on the Zune, that these sorts of mechanical puzzles served the same purpose for Rocket as his music did for him: something to make his mind go quiet.
The music did that … and so did letting Gamora beat the stuffing out of him in the ship’s small exercise area. Or getting language lessons from Rocket. Or –
“I am Groot?”
Peter jumped as small hands grabbed hold of his pants leg. Groot shimmied quickly up to perch on his shoulder.
“Hey, little buddy.” Peter opened the door to his quarters and left it open so Groot could come and go as he wanted. Or so he could hear if anybody got into a fight or whatever. He flopped wearily on his unmade bed, careful not to dislodge Groot. “You know, I’m not sure how much of this you can understand right now, but Rocket’s teaching me to speak your language.”
“I am Groot?”
“Well, to understand you more than speak it, I guess I should say.” He was lying on his back now and he couldn’t really see Groot except out of the corner of his eye, but he could feel the little tree shifting around in the hollow where the collar of his sweatshirt rested against his neck.
“I am Groot,” Groot said insistently, almost in his ear. Small hands patted at the side of his face and his earlobe.
“Yeah, yeah.” Peter pinched one earbud between two fingers and held it where Groot could get at it. The little hands took it out of his fingers. Peter settled himself comfortably as Groot squirmed somewhat ticklishly against his neck, and sorted through the songs. “How 'bout Elton John tonight, buddy?”
“I am Groot,” came the sleepy answer.
“You know, little guy,” Peter murmured, as the first strains of the music began to play and Groot snuggled comfortably against his neck, “whether or not Rocket can get his new gadget working, I think we understand each other just fine, don’t we?”

It is somewhat inspired by the Ed Sheeran song Shape of You - and maybe a little by the video too.
“Fuck,” she breathed out, instantly drawing Jensen’s attention. He was sprawled out his couch, waiting for Y/N to return to his side. It was movie night and she hadn’t bothered leaving the room to take the phone call. Jensen never eaves dropped and even if he was to overhear something it wouldn’t matter. There was nothing to two of them hid from each other. Literally nothing.
They had both been single for a while and some drunken night they had come to the conclusion, that helping each other blow off some steam when either of them needed it was much prefered from picking up some random dude or chick at a bar.
“If you want I am game,” Jensen teased her, throwing her his best Dean smirk, making her eyes roll so hard he was sure Jared would hear it across the hall from Jensen’s apartment.
“It’s not funny, Jensen! They offered me the part. I’m gonna be Wonder Woman,” she complained, making Jensen shoot from the couch and wrap her in his arms, spinning her around the air not caring one bit about her objection.
“That’s amazing Y/N/N,” he laughed putting her down but not releasing her from his hold, “what are you so worried about?” Jensen gently stroked her hair away from her face, studying her face and trying to figure out why she wasn’t over the moon about this. She had a tendency to overthink things. He knew that. He literally spent 2 hours on the floor of her bedroom leaning against her bathroom door trying to talk her out after the first night they had slept together.
Very clean but she has a huge stack of medical books on her desk built like a fortress.
Always fretting over her roommate to make sure they are taking care of themselves, exercising, eating healthy, sleeping at a decent hour (honestly when you are in college wtf is sleep)
Always a great study buddy during exams or needs general advice
The room has to be clean and follow a specific aesthetic on both sides of the room or else it will drive her crazy.
Cleans and moves items around every day so the space looks “presentable”
Generally very quiet and distant but it doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to be your friend. She just isn’t the best at socialising at times.
Loves having cute small plants in the room to give it some…life, haha.
Very energetic roommate who insists on spontaneous outings whether that is going to McDonald’s at midnight or going to one of Lucio’s parties
Pretty clean room overall but she often leaves her hoodies scattered all the place. Girl can’t stay committed to one jacket in a single day.
Instantly become BFF’s with this gal as she is very open and LOVES to talk about dating or gossiping.
Insists that every Friday you and she go out to have a girls night. It could be anything that the two of you like whether that be shopping, watching a movie, getting a pedicure, a n y t h i n g.
So. Many. Bloody. Posters. All colourful of her favourite video games and K-Pop stars.
She is very cool as a roommate but beware you will have to stay up late every night when D.Va streams and is playing video games. So noise may be a problem.
Has a terrific fashion sense and will always hook you up with a cute outfit depending on the occasion (she will dress you up for a party or a date, no matter what)
She isn’t the one to go to for studying as she is the master at procrastinating. Somehow she does everything last minute and gets decent grades.
You barely see her that much in residence or on campus since she is either working out or practising with her competitive team.
Kinda like a big sister figure who is totally down to crushing some guys who were being dicks.
Because she isn’t around much, the room is relatively clean and barely do you have to remind her to do her part of the cleaning. She always takes her vows seriously.
The closet space is full of Zarya’s weights, sports balls, and other equipment.
Pretty shy and has the cutest smile. Like you want to engulf her in a hug upon meeting her and omg you were so lucky to have her as your roomie.
She is always so positive and an early riser. While you might feel a bit dead inside this girl has brought you a cup of coffee to see if it will give you that wake-up call.
A great study buddy when needed. She knows everything about geography and various sciences. This girl always gets straight A’s in everything she does.
Loves buying you cute small gifts when you are stressed. Bless her soul <3
Has so much tech in the room that it looks like a hacking centre rather than a bedroom.
While she might look a bit shady she is pretty darn cool and will be brutally honest with you.
Always has some random person in the room. Often times she is helping them get back at another person for their douche behaviour. Sombra is like the avenger for all broken hearts.
Does this girl get any sleep? Or leave the room? Whenever you get back from a class, Sombra is always seated at her desk doing god knows what. When you remark on her hermit skills she just laughs and says, “You don’t even know half of what I do sweetheart.”
Really clean, simple, minimalistic look space.
A polite and honest guy overall. He isn’t really into parties but isn’t a hardcore introvert who stays in his room all day.
Always willing to help and always knows when something is on your mind. He just sits in his seat and watches you carefully before speaking if you are alright.
That guy who will always invite you to go to the dining hall with. He just wants you to feel comfortable and included <3
Like Jack, his room is pretty average and simple but carries his go to basketball, small weights, jump rope,
I swear this man have so many pairs of sweatpants. That’s all he really wears so the laundry basket is always full of his dirty sweatpants.
Really chill and can be such a tease and a pain. But if you are stressed or pissed about something this guy will insist you two go out to town or exercise that toxic out of your system.
Did I say that he gives great advice and is the perfect wingman? This guy knows how to make chicks soon and he always has a guest over.
So much anime posters and one inspirational quote is plastered on the door. Despite his weebness he is really cool and inspirational to others!
The room always feels so clean and calm. Genji always makes sure that a nice scent of peppermint is circulating in the air.
Wakes up very early in the morning and is so quiet about it. Like if you had a busy night he will make sure the next morning that he is extra careful to not wake you up.
Will unexpectedly bring you a cup of tea every day. The flavours vary and it is always exciting to see what he brings the next day.
Dude’s got cool lights attached around the ceiling and glow a faint light that isn’t too harsh for the eyes.
So excited and hyper to be here! Honestly, this sweet guy is asking all kinds of question such as where you from, your name, what program you are in etc.
Encourages you to go to parties. He is little too great at persuading you to join him. But the night always ends on a good note so who cares.
Always asks for your opinion on his demos. If you don’t like it, he will work on it again until you are satisfied with it. Seems like you got a good music taste.
The room is like military clean on the first week but afterward it is pretty messy, with McCree’s shirts and pants littered all over the floor that didn’t quite make it to the full basket and more dirty clothes.
If you need a friend to binge watch a tv show or movie series, this guy is so down with it. He likes to just sit back, share a case of beer and have fun.
He snores very loudly at exactly 4 AM and it drives you crazy. The cowboy on rare nights does have bad nightmares and when you wake him up to ask if he is okay he will just smile and shrug it off.
Probably spends most of the time in the common lounge room as he likes to sit back and talk to anyone who may be around. Literally brings the floor together with his cheesy jokes and natural charms.
The room looks like a bomb went off….oh wait a bomd did just go off!
Crazy messy that honestly it is probably best that you burn the room and start all over (don’t give Junkrat any ideas now!)
Junkrat is rather wild but when he isn’t doing something dangerous he is just fun to be around. Dude always has the most wicked sense of humour.
This guy barely studies but in certain courses he is brilliant. No one on the floor expected this kid to be really smart at something. Don’t be deceived by his wild looks.
Looks like a space station. Kidding. But he does have a poster of Albert Einstein.
Has the biggest stash of peanut butter tucked away under his bed that no one knows bout except his roommate.
A gentle fellow who always encourages you to reach your potential. He is amazing at teaching and giving very heartwarming lectures about working hard and doing what you love most.
Is the floor representative and all the RA’s in the residence building loves him for his optimistic attitude (plus he doesn’t break the rules…unlike Junkrat).
Title: Better Books. Pairing: Implied! Beast!Prince Adam x Reader. Words: 1,522. Rating: K.
After scanning the shelves for what seemed like hours, you had finally found the book you were looking for. Laughing softly in victory, you figured that Adam must have hidden it from you to assure that you didn’t read it again. You could hear his voice inside of your mind, ‘There are better things to read than that.’
You held the book in your hands close to your chest. Rubbing the spine gently, you felt somewhat conscious of the blue eyes lingering on you longingly from across the spacious room. Whether out of nerves or slight curiosity, you let one of your feet dangle from the ladder in the library, swinging around slightly so you could look back at Adam with a tender gaze. He was perched in a chair, sitting in what little sunlight was leaking into the castle from the overcast sky outside. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the sort of warm sunlight that soaked into your skin and made you feel a little more happy and optimistic. It was a dreary sort of sunlight that would bounce off you and create somewhat negative vibes. Fortunately though, you strode around with your own positivity the darkness that seemed to mindlessly drape around the entire residency.
By the time you looked back at him, he tried his best to seem completely invested in the book instead of the back of your head, but you knew better. It was something new between the two of you and has become more and more frequent. The stolen glances, as if it were forbidden to actually look at one another and allow yourself to be caught doing so. You had only stumbled upon the castle a month ago, and between then and now, he has actually warmed up to you surprisingly well. After all, it had only been a week or so since he felt comfortable telling you his name so you didn’t have to stumble around what to call him exactly.
Stepping off the ladder with a small ‘thud’ as you jumped onto the marble floor, you studied the book in your hand and made your way to the seat across from him. Adam noticed of course, watching you from his peripherals as you sauntered your way towards him and sat down.
Adam cleared his throat, setting his book down in his lap. “What’ve you got there?” He inquired, using his head to gesture to the gently worn out book in your hands. If he moved just right in his spot, the dim sunlight coming in through the large windows shined off his horns, somewhat reminding you of how water shimmered in the light.
You seemed a bit shameful when you answered quietly, “Romeo And Juliet.”
“Uhck.” He murmured softly, scrunching his face in mind disgust, “Have you not read that enough? It’s such a tragic story. The romance, the pining, the unforgiving end. That book will be in three pieces by the time you’re done with it. There’s so many books here, why choose the same one over and over?” Adam’s curiosity was legitimate. He never saw the wonder in romance like you seemed to. To him, they all seemed the same and never seemed to have the absolutely ideal ending.
You laughed quietly, “It may be. At least it’s a book that you don’t seem to care about. I’m sure I could set it on fire and you’d probably be very happy that I did.” Shrugging your shoulders, you rubbed the spine once again and answered simply, “It’s a bittersweet tale. I like that it’s not perfect. That’s what makes it enjoyable. Anyway, why does it matter what I read? It’s not like you’re the one reading it.”
He nodded his head in agreement. Thankfully, he wasn’t the one reading it, but he still argued, a bit more innocent and playful this time, “Perhaps, I can show you another story that’s just as good.”
“I dare you to show me one that I’ll love more than this one.” You held the book up and sat it down on the table to your right. “You’ve read everything in here, so I’m sure you can find one.”
Adam stood up, completely towering over you before holding a paw out for you to take. You smiled at him, accepting the help and let him lift you from your seat. “I accept your challenge. I’ve got just the book.” The smile he gave you was the gentlest thing you had encountered and left your heart swimming in an unknown feeling. You wanted nothing more than to see that smile for the rest of your days. Adam hesitated, but eventually let go of your warm hand before striding to the left. You followed closely, biting down on your bottom lip.
What was the feeling in your chest? It was as if someone had lit a thousand candles and let them burn inside of you. You denied any previous thoughts of adoration for Adam, telling yourself that you couldn’t possibly feel anything more than forced friendship for someone who was keeping you here. But at this point, the sensation in your heart was making you question your own words. There was no doubt some sort of attraction between the two of you. The hidden gazes, the gentle strokes of your hand against his arm while you pass him books.
If he let you go, who’s to say you wouldn’t want to willingly stay here with him? You would stay. Even if he didn’t ask, you would stay. But, why?
“Here.” His voice boomed you back to reality. Swallowing softly, you looked up at him with reddened cheeks before letting your gaze drop to the book in his hand. Taking a shaky breath in, you took it from his hands and studied it carefully. It seemed a bit more worn than ‘Romeo and Juliet’, the spine exceedingly bent at the moment, stirring you to ask, “Have you read this a lot?”
“More than most books here. It’s one of the books my mother used to read to me when I was a child.” Adam admitted softly, letting his icy eyes admire your reaction to the book. “It’s the only romance I can actually bear to finish.” He said without thinking. “You see uh— I never finish them, usually. Romances, at least. I leave them off in the ideal place, almost….”
“Afraid of ruining it with the actual ending.” You finished his sentence for him. Adam seemed astonished that you had actually understood. Pressing it to your chest, you sighed and whispered to him, “You’re taking an opportunity away from yourself though. If you never read the ending, you’re not reading it in the way it was intended to be read. Some…” You clutched the book a bit harder, something he noticed as your knuckles were turning while, “Some stories have a happy ending that are so out of sight that you need to keep reading on. You can’t let one bad ending be the reason why you can’t enjoy other endings.”
There was no fighting your words because as Adam let them sink into his mind, he came to realize that you were completely right. He opened his mouth, ready to discourse but couldn’t find anything to say. He couldn’t. He was in such a position that you words were undoubtedly true. Before the curse, his ending was a bad one, though he prolonged it for as long as possible. It took a sharp turn and seemed even worse for a while before you came waltzing into his life, giving the slightest shimmer that perhaps even he could have a happy ending in a story otherwise full of despair, darkness and hate.
“Let me know what you think.” Adam said quietly, looking at the book in your hands. “I hope… you like it.”
Reaching up, you pressed your hand to the right side of his face and completely captivated his attention. The affection was sudden and seemed to leave Adam completely defenseless as you smiled sweetly at him. It was a tender stroke and reminded him of the last time that he had actually been touched so affectionately. It had been years. If it weren’t for the dramatic height difference, he could look at you eye to eye and if given permission, he would have kissed you. Just to see a response, to see that if getting his hopes up wasn’t just a waste now that there were only a few more petals left on the enchanted rose.
Adam was certain he could kiss you regardless, catching you off guard. The nagging voice inside of his head worried that you didn’t want it though, and so he refrained as best he could and tilted his head towards your hand.
You let your hand linger on him for much longer than needed, eventually bringing it from the side of his face to his wide shoulder before walking back to your spot in the small amount of sunlight. It was his time to follow you back. Sitting down, you stared up at him and gave a warm smile, “I’m sure I’ll love it.”
EYYYYY. Thanks for reading! Reblogs and likes are appreciated! :D
He glanced at his wife, her breathing steady and quiet, her
body outlined by the light of the moon. Rowan had been away with Aedion for the
last week, overseeing Terrasen’s new recruits, and he had spent hours making it
up to Aelin earlier that evening. Considering how often she moaned his name,
and the marks on his back from her nails, he figured he was forgiven.
With a smile, he pulled up the thin, white blanket to her
bare shoulders, and kissed her forehead gently.
“I love you, Fireheart.”
As he stood, he swore he heard her mumble Buzzard, but when he looked back,
eyebrows raised, she was still sound asleep. He pulled on his pants with a
chuckle and grabbed a blanket from the chair by the fireplace on his way out
The creaking of the stairs had stopped, and the
pitter-patter of small feet were now heavy on the main floor. Wrapping the
blanket around his broad shoulders, Rowan silently took the stairs two at a
He found her by the window, watching the city-goers walk by
their private residence under the streetlights. She had her chin perched on her
knees and her arms wrapped around her legs as she sat on the window sill, her
golden hair a mess and her pajamas rumpled. She was clinging to her white-fur
blanket, the one she was given by Gavriel the day she was born.
He leaned against the door frame, watching her, admiringly.
He thought back to the first time he held her in his arms, bundled in that same
blanket, when terror and love and utter joy flooded him. He remembered looking
into the eyes of his firstborn, his daughter, and knowing he was in trouble.
She had put him through hell since the day she’d been born, and she was only
four. There was a lot more hell to go.
And he loved every minute of it.
“Didn’t your mother tell you to stay in bed?”
The small figure jumped at her father’s voice, her cheeks
turning pink as she turned to face him. “Maybe….”
The silver-haired fae crossed his arms as he tried not to
smile, and failed. “Ana.”
When her lip began to wobble, he ran to her side and pulled
her into his arms. Once her small arms had wrapped around his neck, and her
head was lying on his shoulder, he sighed.
“Are you mad, daddy?” she asked.
Rowan sat down on the cushioned couch that sat in front of
the fireplace and wrapped his blanket around his daughter. “No, why would I be
“Mommy gets mad when I get out of bed,” she said,
He laughed. “Mommy doesn’t get mad. She just wants you to
get a good night’s rest, that’s all. So you can grow big and strong.”
“Does mommy get mad at you when you get out of bed?”
He pulled back and looked into those curious, pine-green
eyes. It was the only trait she’d gotten from him. “Yes. So, don’t tell her I
was out of my bed, and I won’t tell her you were out of yours. Deal?”
She held up her pinkie in answer, and Rowan wrapped his
“Deal,” she giggled, and fell into his chest.
“Why can’t you sleep?” he asked her, after a minute. “It is

He held up his hands in defense.
The little girl sighed. “Uncle Aedion told me a scary story.
Aunt Lysy got mad at him, but he thought it was funny.”
Aedion and Lysandra had taken Aliana to the square earlier
that afternoon for lunch, and to find a dress for Friday’s gathering.
Apparently, Aedion liked to add his own fun to the agenda.
“Scary story?” he brushed her hair back behind her ear.
“About snow leopards.”
“Yeah, about how they eat little girls with-with blonde
Rowan made a mental note to kick Aedion’s ass tomorrow when
they met for their early morning workout. “Uncle Aedion was just joking, Ana.”
She frowned. “Well, he’s not very funny.”
The corner of Rowan’s lips tugged upward as the little girl in
his lap yawned.
“Go to sleep, Ana,” he kissed the top of her head. “I love
“Will you stay?” she asked, pine-green eyes growing wide.
“Of course,” he promised, pulling her tighter against his
Another yawn escaped. “Love you, too, daddy.”
They sat there, just the two of them, in silence as he
patted her back, giving her the comfort that only he could.
“Hmm?” he asked, realizing he was dozing off.
“Can I be a bird like you?”
It took him a moment to realize she was talking about
shape-shifting, and the thought made him laugh, breathily. “You can be anything
you want to be, my Little Fireheart.”
But, when he didn’t get a reply, and he looked down at the

A small flame rose, and grew, from within the fireplace.
Rowan glanced toward the door frame and gave its occupant a
soft grin. He whispered, “I thought I wore you out.”
She rolled her eyes, but there was humor there, and love. “I
came to see why I was the only one in bed.”
He held out his free arm, and before he could take another
breath, she was there, lying her head against his shoulder and taking her
daughter’s feet into her lap.
“She’s getting so big,” she sighed. “I don’t understand why
she thinks I’d be mad to find her downstairs. Remind me to kick Aedion’s ass,
by the way.”
Rowan chuckled. “I’d be scared of you, too, Majesty.” Aelin
stuck her tongue out at her husband. With a smirk, he continued, “How long were
you standing there?”
“Long enough to come to the conclusion that you two must
keep a lot of secrets from me,” she narrowed her eyes as if to say liars.
He shrugged. “A pinkie swear cannot be broken.”
She nudged him in the ribs, then continued to rub his chest
with her finger in lazy circles to the sound of his quiet laughter.
“She’s perfect,” Aelin whispered, as Rowan’s eyes closed. “I
still think that, every day, just how perfect she is. She reminds me of you.”
“She’s just like her mother,” Rowan whispered, back. “Yes,
she is perfect. And beautiful. And kind. And smart.”
As he opened his eyes, he caught the tear that had fallen
down his wife’s cheek.
“There was a time when I didn’t think I would ever have this
life,” she whispered. “There was a time when I dreamt of this life, with you.
Sometimes, it feels like a dream after all that we’ve endured.”
“I often have to remind myself that it’s not,” he kissed her
head as the flames in the fireplace grew. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
“To whatever end.”
“Always,” she smiled. “To whatever end.”
Aelin fell asleep a minute later, and Rowan sat there,
holding them both tightly, lovingly, admiringly, until the flames turned to
embers, the logs turned to ashes, and sleep consumed him.

The young mother hums gently late at night, soft singing leaving her mouth and whispering comfort words in between to the small bundle in her arms.
Her son hiccups, his initial crying fading away and leaving behind only quiet sniffles and the occasional whimper. The brunette smiles to herself, patting herself in the back for avoiding a late night crisis with her youngest child.
“There we go, sunshine,” she whispers under her breath, dropping a quick kiss on her son’s head as the baby nuzzles his face closer to the crook of her neck, “Thunder scared you, huh?”
The baby just whimpers, hiding himself further down in his mama’s protection. Mrs. McClain could still hear the rain raging outside the living room’s window and she hopes it doesn’t wake up the rest of the household.
It takes her about ten minutes to realize that her son is not going back to sleep anytime soon, and while she knows the decision she’s about to make will probably come back to bite her in the butt next morning, she shrugs and bounces the baby in her arms to catch his attention.
“Alright, buddy, seems like a long night for us,” she declares tiredly but her blue eyes are bright and playful, her smile only growing when her son’s eyes, so familiar to her own, look up at her with innocent curiosity, “How about we dance?”
Her son blinks, a small hiccup making him jump in surprise and getting his mama to giggle warmly as she wipes away the tear tracks on his chubby tanned cheeks.
“Taking that as a yes.” She shrugs, readjusting her baby in her arms one more time before she starts moving around the room, her dancing falling into gentle steps as she starts over her humming.
It doesn’t take much before her son is giggling and squealing in delight, a big toothy smile on his face as he looks down and sees her feet moving around gracefully.
Mrs. McClain smiles fondly when her son beams at her and pushes her cheeks together, babbling something that is still incoherent in her ears but she still nods approvingly for his sake.
“Yeah, that’s right, Lance! This is called dancing,” she praises gently, kissing her son’s cheek lovingly, “Do you enjoy dancing?”
A giggle followed by a soft excited pat in her nose answers her.
“Taking that as a yes.”
Blue eyes stare in awe as the form of his mama and older brother move around the living room.
The furniture had been pushed away earlier, giving the pair more space to practice, and that’s where Lance sits right now, on the top of the couch on the corner, eyes shining with excitement as he follows their moves.
His mama is currently laughing, her head shaking in disbelief at the tactics of her oldest son as the fifteen years old tries to dip her back dramatically. Mrs. McClain just slaps him playfully in the arm before tugging him back to the proper posture.
Strong arms suddenly grab him by the armpits, lifting him up in the air. “Dirty feet off the couch, champ.”
Lance tips his head back to see his papa’s amused face and Mr. McClain arches an eyebrow at him. “Grandma will go nuts if she sees even a dirty spot on her ancient couch, you know.”
The five years old smiles sheepishly, hands covering his mouth as soon as his papa drops him back to the ground carefully. “Sorry, papa.”
“It’s okay, bud, at least you had socks on.” He reassurances, ruffling his light brown hair roughly and offering a smile before he nods to the pair in the middle of the living room, “So, what’s happening here?”
“Mama and Tony are dancing!” Lance announces excitedly, raising his arm to point at the pair as he tugs at his papa’s jeans, “Mama is so pretty, papa! Look how she moves; she’s like a princess, or a fairy or -”
Lance beams. “Yeah! Yeah, like a queen!” He exclaims happily before turning back to the scene in front of them, smile wide and giddly.
Mr. McClain hums to himself, grinning knowingly as he sees the way his son stares at the still dancing pair.
“Do you wanna try it out, Lance?”
Lance blinks at him, eyes narrowed in confusion and making the adult to chuckle.
“Dancing, son. Do you wanna dance with me?”
“I dunno how, papa.” Lance bites his lower lip unsure, looking up at his dad nervously but the adult just smiles softly at his son and holds out both of his hands towards the child.
“It’s okay, son,” he comforts gently, “Just take my hands, I got you.”
And just like that, Lance’s face breaks into a bright smile.
Small feet cover his own two feet, his dark socks making a fun contrast with his son’s neon blue ones and Mr. McClain starts swinging them gently, his big hands wrapped tightly around his son’s to keep him up.
The comparison between his hands and his son’s small ones is comforting and yet scary. It reminds him how small his son is, how precious he is and how much he wants to protect him from everything that could harm him.
But he can’t. There’s a world out there behind their door and Mr. McClain knows his son will have to face it sooner or later. He just hopes he’s able to teach him everything he may need to know, everything that will make his journey easier.
A loud laugh shakes him out of his thoughts and he looks down, catching his son’s bright blue eyes looking up at him with a blinding smile. Mr. McClain allows himself to drop his shoulders, tension leaving him as he smiles back.
There will be time to teach Lance all he may need to know.
“Okay, now, you are going to lead, ready -? Woah, hold up - Ow- Careful with your heel, son -”
can I request todoroki and bakugous reaction when their s/o brings home a stray puppy they found on the streets and wanting to keep the puppy??
These idea is precious. I love this so much. All I can think of is you bringing home a puppy that looks just like the boy. [Admin Denki]
“What are you doing?” Todoroki asked, looking up from his book as you tip-toed into your apartment.
“Uhh. . . nothing.” You murmured, keeping your back turned to Todoroki as you hunched over.
“Are you alright?” Todoroki rose a brow, not familiar with seeing you like that before.
“Oh, I’m completely-”
“Arff!” Both you and Todoroki froze as the sound of panting filled the room.
“You’re hiding a dog in your jacket, aren’t you?” Todoroki set his book down, uncrossing his legs.
“Maybe. . .” You muttered, sitting in the entranceway. A small, fluffy puppy jumped out of your arms, circling the room.
“Why? Why would you bring a stray dog home? And a puppy? They’re a lot of responsibility.” Todoroki lectured you like a mother.
“I know that.” You grumbled. “It’s just. . . she reminded me of you.” You said, letting the black puppy crawl into your lap.
“How? I don’t have black hair.” Todoroki said in confusion. You picked the puppy up, sitting on the couch next to Todoroki and placing the puppy on his lap. The puppy put his paws on Todoroki’s chest, licking his cheeks. The puppy had one brown eye and one blue eye.
“Oh.” Todoroki mumbled, petting the puppy’s head. She wagged her tail, turning around in a circle before hopping off and running around the living room again.
“What do you think? Can we keep her?” You asked.
“We’ll go to the vet tomorrow. If she’s not chipped. . . I guess we can shelter her.” Todoroki decided, surprised when you wrapped your arms around him.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you!” You squealed.
“Get rid of it.” Bakugou glared at the dog and the dog glared back.
“Stop being a buzz kill. Look how cute he is.” You picked up the dense puppy. He was built like a baby tree trunk, having a stocky body and legs.
“He’s fucking ugly. I don’t want a dog. It’ll shit everywhere.” Bakugou scrunched up his nose. The honest reason was that he did not want competition for your attention. A clingy dog meant less sex or less time together. He glared at the dog, who barked back.
“I don’t get it. You two are so much like each other. Jealous, angry, humping my leg.” You smirked at the last part.
“He fucking humps your leg?!” Bakugou yelled.
“C’mon, he’s a dog. As soon as we get him. . . fixed.” You whispered the last word.
“I don’t want the puppy. Just bring him to the pound or something.” Bakugou shrugged.
“You monster!” You shouted, dramatically. “We’re keeping him.” You crossed your arms, marching off. “Now, I’m going to the pet store to get food, so behave! He better be here when I come back!” You shouted, slamming the front door. Bakugou and the dog bared their teeth.
“Asshole. He’s just a puppy. I don’t get why he’s being such a. . . a. . . a Bakugou.” You grumbled, carrying a big bag of dog food in your arms. You walked back into the apartment, but stopped in the doorway. Bakugou was curled up on the couch, the puppy sleeping underneath Bakugou’s arm. The dog snored, curling into Bakugou’s body.
“If you say a word,” Bakugou murmured, eyes closed. “-I will murder you. . . figuratively.” He corrected yourself. You put your hand over your mouth, having to keep yourself from squealing.
requested: please can you do imagine where y/n is on tour with shawn and he proposed to her and then before the Q&A it’s cute and fluffy and shawn goes to Q&A and fans ask about y/n so she goes to shawn and fans see ring and ask about it and shawn is talking about it and y/n says something like “you told it first. you owe me a dinner cute ass” bc they made a deal about who spills the tea about proposal 😊 also sorry for my English bc I’m from Poland 😊
AHH THIS IS SUPA CUTE I LOVE LOVE LOVE
also teen mendes helped me out again 😂😂😂 what would i do without her
“y/n!” shawn burst through the doors of the tour bus. you were laying across the small couch, not really having much to do while shawn was at sound check before his q&a. “come with me m'lady.”
he stretched his hand out to help you off the couch as you giggled at his cheesiness.
“where are you taking me?” you asked, following him out of the now empty tour bus. he led you away from the venue he was due to perform at in 2 hours, and into a small park area.
“let’s take a walk or something, i feel bad i have to perform on your birthday.” he apologized, again. you knew deciding to join him on tour would mean he would be performing on your birthday, and you were okay with it.
“shawn, its fine honestly. as long as i get to see you, i’m fine with it.”
he shook is head, “well i’m not fine with it. it’s your birthday y/n, it only comes around once a year! we’re gonna take a walk.”
you just nodded, interlocking your hands and letting shawn pull you along. thankfully it was a nice day here in new york, the sun was shining as you walked along the deserted pathway.
you loved that even with his busy schedule, shawn always tried to take some time in the day to spend with you. no matter what he was doing.
“i love you,” you sighed, thinking out loud.
he chuckled, “that was random but i love you too,” he kissed your temple.
you admired the scenery around you, the trees were decorated with little fairy lights for when it got dark and there were many gardens full of flowers as you walked along the path. you decided that this place must be busier at night.
in the distance, there was a lady walking her dog coming your way. even from afar, you could tell the dog wasn’t on a leash. shawn noticed too, hoping the dog wouldn’t run to him or else his allergies would act up.
“shawn! that dog is adorable!” you exclaimed, “i so hope it comes here.”
as if on cue, the dog runs towards you barking happily.
“hi!” you crouched down, meeting the small dog. it jumped on you multiple times, excited to see someone new. “aren’t you a cutie?”
the owner of the dog soon caught up to her runway dog, “i’m so sorry, she likes to escape sometimes. there’s usually nobody here at this time so i bring her without the leash.”
you were too busy playing with the puppy to answer, but shawn was quick to answer the elderly woman.
“oh no worries, as you can tell my girlfriend loves dogs. we don’t mind.” he said, smiling down at you and the dog.
“oh it’s very clear, she’s adorable. so what brings you to this path at this time of day? it’s normally empty.” the lady tried making small talk with shawn while you were pre occupied. he told the lady why he brought you here, speaking in a low voice so you wouldn’t hear him.
“okay girl, its time to go.” the woman called to the dog. “this cute couple needs some alone time.” she picked the dog up from your hands as it whimpered, not wanting to leave. you didn’t want it to leave either.
“bye! thanks for letting me play with your adorable dog.” you said as the lady continued in the opposite direction of the two of you.
as you walked along the path, shawn shoved his free hand in his pack pocked. sighing in relief seconds after.
“everything okay?” you asked, raising an eyebrow.
“oh what? yeah,” he said. “i was just checking to make sure i had my phone.”
you nodded, knowing fully well his phone was on the bus still, but you said nothing of it. it was probably nothing.
shawn released his grip on your hand, suddenly stopping a few feet behind you. you hadn’t noticed at first, you were to engrossed in the scenery around you.
“y/n,” he called, you barely heard him his voice was so soft. you turned around, greeted with shawn on one knew in front of you. you covered your mouth with your right hand, tears already welling up in your eyes. he grabbed your free hand quickly before beginning to talk.
“i was gonna do this tonight on stage but i couldn’t wait another minute. y/n when i first saw you at geoff’s birthday party i was left speechless because you were beyond gorgeous. i asked you out that night and lucky for me you said yes and i will never forget that. you gave me a chance and showed me beautiful things i never would’ve seen without you, when i fell in love with you it felt like magic and i want to make you feel the same now will you give me another chance but to let me show you unimaginable things this time and marry me?”
you simply nodded, not being able to form proper words or sentences right now. you held your left hand out for him to slip the beautiful ring on, as he did. both your smiles were probably the widest they have ever been.
“i love you,” you finally managed to get out, smashing your lips onto his. once you pulled away, he pulled you into him, kissing the top of your head multiple times. you stayed in his embrace for what seemed like hours until your phone started ringing.
sighing, you pulled away from shawn to check the caller ID. it was andrew, most likely looking for shawn. you put it on speaker before it connected.
“y/n where is shawn?” andrew asked, “he needs to be at the q and a in 30 minutes!”
shawn’s eyes widened, completely forgetting about the q&a.
“sorry andrew, we’ll be there. we just took a walk for a bit.”
andrew sighed, saying goodbye and hanging up the phone. you stuffed your phone into your back pocket and reconnected your hand with shawn’s.
as you walked, you admired the ring that now had a permanent place on your left hand. it was stunning, it was exactly what you wanted.
“do you like it?” shawn asked, noticing you admiring it. “if you don’t we can change it.”
“no,” you smiled, shaking your head. “it’s perfect. i love it, it’s exactly how i pictured it to be. i’m glad you didn’t wait until later to do this.”
“me too,” he smiled. “but are we gonna announce it right away?”
“well everyone on the team is going to see it, but maybe we could have a little fun with announcing it.” you smirked.
“oh yeah? like what?”
“well,” you grinned, a plan was already forming. “whoever spills about the engagement first before announcing it, owes the other person a dinner.”
“oh you’re on!” shawn exclaimed.
you arrived at the venue quicker than expected, the two of you entering through the back and finding your way to shawn’s dressing room.
“sorry i’m late!” shawn said as the two of you burst through the doors. “we got a little distracted.”
you blushed, smiling at the ground.
“i’ll say,” geoff interrupted. “y/n is that new?” he motioned to the ring shawn had placed on your finger only minutes ago.
shawn nodded, “i couldn’t wait until later, she was playing with this dog and i just had to do it.
the crew in the dressing room congratulated the two of you multiple times. you told them you weren’t announcing it right away when they tried to take videos of you for instagram and snapchat.
“i hate to break this up,” andrew interrupted. “but shawn you have to go to the q&a.”
he nodded, quickly kissing you before exiting the room with the rest of his team leaving you alone in the dressing room.
not even 10 minutes later, geoff appeared at the door, letting you know shawn wanted you to come out there. apparently the fans had asked about you.
you followed him to the small room where the q&a was being held, the room erupted in screams once you walked in.
you shyly waved, unfortunately you already forgot about the ring and you waved with your left hand.
“hey, a few of them wanted to say happy birthday.” shawn said, wrapping his arm around you as you stood next to the table where he sat.
“thank you.” you blushed, not enjoying having this much attention plus almost 100 cameras on you.
shawn picked a girl near the front to ask a question.
“this one is actually for y/n,” she said. “is that an engagement ring on your finger?”
you looked at shawn, hoping he would answer. mostly because you didn’t like to talk in front of so many people, but you also wanted a free dinner.
“it actually is,” he beamed as the crowed erupted in cheers yet again. you listened as he told them the details of what happened, so much for keeping it a secret.
“also shawn,” you butted in once he finished the story. “you told first.”
his eyes widened, “oh shit, so much for that.”
“tough luck,” you patted his chest. “you owe me a dinner babe.”
Pairing: Ethan Nestor x fem!reader, fem!reader x best friend!Amy and best friend!Kathryn
Word Count: 1570
Summary: Requested. I adore your blog. Can I request an Ethan x reader where the reader is a YouTuber and won’t do the smash or pass challenge bc she has a crush on Ethan so Kathryn and Amy and the reader are having like a sleepover and they do that to the reader and when they mention Ethan she gets all embarrassed and says smash and admits she has a crush on him and Ethan overhears and then fluff happens. Sorry if this is too specific but I love your fics!!
Warnings: Swearing! A little inappropriate! Please watch out, innocent eyes!
If there was one place that was a more accepting environment than anything, it was the youtube community. Despite some hate, there was always people who created a loving place where everyone was invited and could be themselves. This was especially true for small channels, such as your own. And especially when you collaborated with other small channels.
This week, yourself and Ethan, from Crankgameplays, were doing a small play through of Would You Rather. It was a silly thing, sitting across from each other reading the questions which prompted more specific thoughts than you imagined. The twist, however, was if you were in the majority of votes, you got to draw whatever you wanted on the other persons face without lifting the pen; and vice versa. However, right at the begging, you had to establish some rules.
“Ethan!” You yelped, pulling far away as you smacked his arm. He was practically red in the face as he laughed, the jumbo liner in his hand shaking. “You cannot draw a dick on my face!”
“This is what you wanted! You practically forced me!”
“By what? Putting the pen in your hand?!”
In the end, you forced Ethan to turn the two circles into a heart, one that took up the top half of your face, straight down the middle. As the game continued, the drawings went from goofy to more and more detailed, yourself and Ethan turning into walking canvases. In a particularly detailed drawing, you were drawing gears that looked like they were coming out of his face, you grabbed his face, practically pulling him against your chest so you could get a better angle. Standing over him, concentrating so hard you didn’t notice Ethan’s face progressively getting redder by the second, completely eye level with your throat and collar bones. Or, more importantly, the dip of your shirt.
“There!” You sat with a huff, falling back into your chair with a smile. You couldn’t help the fur between your brows as you finally took notice of Ethan’s red face. “Hey, you okay?” Ethan gave you a big smile, nodding slightly.
“Yeah, just a little warm. Mind turning on that fan for me.” A light blush filled your cheeks as he gave you a genuine smile, stirring the feelings inside your heart. Once the fan was on, the video resumed without a hitch. Turning to the camera, tears practically streaming out of your eyes as you observed the detailed mustache you drew on Ethan, you began to do your outro.
“Thank you all so much for being here! I’ll see you in the video. Aaaaaaand….Signing off!” With a single salute, you were about to finish the recording, but Ethan was quick to throw his arm around your shoulder, pulling you into his side. You began laughing as he shook you around, tickling your sides, trying to add another drawing to your face that you just knew would get your flagged. You always loved recording with Ethan; not just because the feeling he gave you deep in the pit of your stomach, but because he could easily distract that feeling with the side splitting laughter that always left you clutching your sides.
You spent most of the rest of the day editing the video. It wasn’t originally supposed to go up until the following day, but you just couldn’t help it. Filming with Ethan always gave you the best content. You couldn’t help the smile that spread across your face as your picked pieces of the footage to put in the final edit, watching as you goofed around, playfully nudging and joking around. Yet, there was this one part that you couldn’t take your eyes off of. It was when Ethan has suddenly got very warm within your room, his face going red. On the screen, you were out of camera, only your body in the frame. Ethan’s eyes were completely forced forwards, glancing between the curve of your neck, and the dip in your shirt. You felt you cheeks heat up, doubt swirling in your mind. Yet, nothing could hide the truth from playing right in front of you.
He’s still a young adult, you thought, he’s attracted to every woman in a low cut shirt.
These thoughts, however, didn’t stop you from watching the clip over and over, analysing every detail of it. In fact, you were so engrossed in it, that you didn’t notice Kathryn sneaking up behind you. With a small jump, she placed both of her hands on your shoulders, nearly making you jump out of your skin.
“Eep! Kathryn!” You quickly minimized your screen, spinning in your chair so fast you forgot about the huge headphones covering your ears, which caused them to rip right off your head. “You nearly gave me a heart attack!” Kathryn, however, didn’t notice, as she was practically hunched over with laughter. “Jerk.”
“Come on, don’t be like that. I was just coming to ask if you wanted to watch a movie with Amy and I.” She didn’t have to ask you twice. You needed a break, something to take your mind off the blue haired boy that constantly invaded your thoughts. Nearly sprinting to the living room, Amy was already there, warm sweater wrapped around her, and a blanket draped over her legs. She had a cup of tea in her hands, which she daintily blew on before taking a sip. You swear, you’ve never seen such a soft, swan-like human before meeting Amy. However, her quiet and gentle moment was destroyed by yourself and Kathryn barreling into the room, jumping onto the nearest couches with bowls of popcorn and your own assorted beverages.
It wasn’t until half way before the movie before Kathryn spoke of the video she had spotted you studying.
“So, you and Ethan made a video, huh. Looked pretty interesting.” She lightly snickered to herself, taking another sip of her drink. You blushed bright red, angrily glaring at her. Amy, of course, immediately caught the tone in her friends voice.
“Ooooh. What video would this be, hmm? Something for your fandom to latch onto?”
“It’s nothing like that. Ethan was just watching me draw on his face.” You tried to be nonchalant, you really did. But around your best friends, you couldn’t hold together the lie. “Okay, I caught Ethan on video checking me out. But, before you say anything, I’m a hundred percent sure it’s because he had nowhere else to look. Really, its my fault. I didn’t even give the poor fella a chance.” Amy hit you with her skeptical look, while Kathryn scoffed next to you. “Look, it doesn’t even matter anyway. Even if he did, there’s no way he would ever return my feelings.” Amy and Kathryn were immediately at full attention, both turning their bodies so they could look at you directly. Amy opened her house, ready for questioning, but the voice that came out was not hers.
“You like me?” All three of you whipped your head around, a very surprised blue boy standing at the archway, a single cup of ice water clinking in his hand. You immediately stood, blanket falling from your lap to a puddle around your feet. “You actually like me?”
“Ethan! Oh my god. No, wait, you got it all wrong. When I said return my feelings, I meant like feelings of friendship and trust!” With each rushed word you stepped closer, trying so hard to fix your mistake and salvage your beloved friendship. However, Ethan just continued to stare, his eyes trailing your every move.
“So, you don’t like me?” Your mouth opened and closed, trying desperately, but you couldn’t make him unhear everything that you had said as he walked past your girls night to the kitchen. With a defeated sigh, you simply hung your head and nodded. There was three beats in the next second. One, a footstep. Two, a clink of glass on glass. Three, your gasp as Ethan forced your head up to place his lips upon yours. You had no hesitation before kissing back, wrapping your arms around him, pulling him closer, closer, closer. By his arms, his shoulders, his hair. He pulled as close to him as possible, kissing the breath right out of your lungs. The shock on your friends faces were completely ignored as you continued to kiss. Finally. Finally, he was yours.
flapping- feeling your hands bounce and your wrists twirl and your fingers flick in and out and in and out. Wiggling your arms, feeling gravity weigh down on them, feeling your muscles send them flying high. Kicking up your legs, curling your toes and shaking your feet, feeling so happy that your whole body flaps with it
twirling- spinning and spinning, seeing your hair in your face, watching your clothes billow out and twist around, wrapping your arms around yourself to go fast, or stretching them out and feeling the air rush over them
rocking- swaying and tilting and flowing, slow at first, then faster and faster. Leaning forwards and back, moving your body in big circles, small circles, triangles and octagons and all sorts of shapes.
hair twirling- the feel on your fingers in your hair, the soft, cool stands sliding between them, the pleasant pressure on your scalp, making little ringlets, tight twists, braids, twirling the hair until it’s a ball atop your head. Letting it go and watching it uncurl
singing- closing your mouth and humming, letting music vibrate through you, letting it build in your chest and poke through your lips, seeing how high you can go, how low you can go. Opening your mouth wide, belting out songs, whispering them, who needs to talk when you can sing?
repeating- feeling your lips stretch and scrunch up to make words, your tongue press against your teeth, hearing how lovely those words sound when they come out of your mouth, how soft or bright or bubblegum flavored. Mimicking until everything around you is pleasant words and good sounds and your ears and mouth are filled to the brim with happiness
oral fixation- rolling beads against your teeth with your tongue, the metal cool and clicking. Sinking your teeth into silicon squares and dragons, gnawing on plastic with your molars, denting wood with your canines. Sucking and chewing on your shirt collar, rubbing your tongue against the fabric
tapping- making drums out of everything around you. The loud, hollow sounds of tap, tap, tapping on the washing machine, the pretty clicks of running your fingernails over glass. Drumming your fingers on the fabric of your clothes. feeling them bump, bump, bump on your shoulders and chest and legs
pressure- wrapping your arms right around you and squeezing until everything is just right. Heavy blankets, layers of jackets, holding your pets in your lap and feeling the pleasantness of it all pressing down on you. Hugs, a friends head on your chest, weighted blankets filled with rice that sound so pretty when you shake them
shaking- legs bouncing, up and down, up and down. Clenching your muscles till your arms vibrate a mile a minute. Hearing your chair bump the floor as you move, watching your hands flutter and fly so fast that they’re blurrs
making sounds- clicking. feeling your tongue press against the roof of your mouth, moving fast and quiet or slow and loud. popping, sucking in your cheeks, puckering your lips. Hissing, letting the air squeeze past your lips. Going from high to low, low to high, making your mouth a symphony
jumping- bouncing. Popping up and down on the balls of your feet. jumping from leg to leg, knees bent, hair flying up and down, feeling your heart soar and fall with gravity. Big jumps, so far off the ground you think you might never come down, until you do with a satisfying bang! Small jumps, like a little ballerina on their toes, landing soft and fast
