Witch Tips for City Witches

City Witch Tips for all of my fellow witches stuck in apartments, dorms or other city areas.

  • If you can’t burn incense you can make your own sprayable incense by mixing alcohol (usually vodka or rubbing) with essential oils and a bit of oil, spray in the air to act like incense
  • If you are unable to go outside for whatever reason to get rain water (in my case just no where to collect it safely), fill a jar or glass with regular water and keep it near a cracked window to charge it with the wind, sound and scent of the rain outside. Same goes for storm water
  • Trapped in city and unable to get ocean water? Sea salt mixed with rain/storm water can be an excellent substitute
  • To continue on with water substitutes, if you can’t collect snow crushed ice from your fridge will suffice
  • Low key warding/protection you can use: spray moon water, salt water or sprayable incense about your apartment or dorm, place sigils under doormats, furniture, inside cupboards, etc; place crystals about hidden or out in the open, sweep and dust out the door or towards windows
  • If you need melted wax to seal a jar or for any other magical purpose, but can’t burn candles, by a wax melter and melt that wax and imagine the light from the burner acting like a flame (plus they are rather cheap, I got mine for 25 bucks)
  • Need stars in your craft but too much light pollution? Glow in the dark stars on your ceiling or wall can work just as well for visualization. Print out pictures of your favorite constellations or planets and place them up on your walls or on your altar. Live video feed of the night sky can also be easily found on the internet
  • Bath magic is amazing for low-key ‘in the woods’ witches. Use teas, milk, oils, herbs, bath bombs, bubble baths, salts, etc that relate to your intent. It is also a good place to meditate if you have roommates or family around that would disturb you otherwise
  • If you do for whatever reason need to burn a candle, birthday candles are small, melt fast, and don’t create a lot of smoke or smokey scent
  • Sigils are another great low-key form of magic. To boost them up, use color magic related to the color you draw them in, write them using quills made of feathers related to your intent, use colored paper, rub a drop of essential oil on them, charge them with crystals or in your windowsill
  • You don’t have to burn sigils to activate them, which is hardly an option when you are in a dorm or apartment. Other options are: Shredding them, erasing them, soaking them in a bath or shower, using body heat or your own pulse, etc
  • Miss having the outdoors and plants around? Windowsill gardens can really help. Small plants you can consider keeping in your windowsill or counter-tops: succulents, cacti, bamboo, lemongrass, basic, rosemary, mint, rosemary, mosses, aloe, snake plant, pothos (and other vines), carrots, beets, shallots, lettuce, spinach, garlic, chives, parsley, oregano, thyme, and marigold
  • Open your window to let the wind and air from outside to help energize you and clear out negative energies inside
  • Fun places to put sigils: under furniture, carved into soap, onto shampoo/conditioner bottles, on your make up, inside phone cases, in shoes, under bandages, sewn into pillow cases and blankets, behind pictures in frames, underside of nail polish, carved into wax squares for your wax melter, keys and keychains, behind mirrors or in medicine cabinets, on bookmarks, on or in binders and pencil cases, on medicine bottles, and water bottles/travel mugs
  • Easy to make and dispose of poppets: carrot sticks (one of my personal favorites), apples or other fruit, clothe, paper, popsicle sticks, paper towels/napkins, toilet paper rolls, eggs, celery stocks, and cotton balls
  • The internet is an amazing thing. Need some sounds to help you focus or meditate? Easily look up the sounds of rain, storms, wind, ocean waves, jungles, forests, etc
  • Christmas lights are fun and great way to use discrete witchcraft. Select ones in the colors you wish for them to bring ie green for growth, yellow for inspiration, white for protection, purple for psychic abilities, etc.
  • Some everyday things you can use for discrete witchcraft that don’t cost much at all or that you most likely already have: water, table salt, black pepper, paper, crayons/pencils/pens/markers, vinegar, milk, tea, highlighters, make up and beauty supplies, shampoo and conditioner, rubber bands, paperclips, thumbtacks, computer/phone/tablet, music/music player, playing cards, dice, air freshener, perfumes, toothpaste, rice, flour, sugar, honey, and all kitchen herbs and seasonings.
  • Can’t afford gemstones or crystals on college budget? Crackle and dyed quartz you can find super cheap at craftstores and online. I bought a whole bag for 4 bucks. Use them based on their colors and shapes. Can’t afford that but still want to use rocks in your craft? Find some rocks you like outside, again use their colors and shapes to determine their correspondences. Want to use them for a specific purpose? Paint sigils on them in the color that corresponds with what you want! Charge them in your windowsill or with your own energy and intent. There you go!
  • Pocket mirrors are cheap, easy to carry around and great for glamours and on the go magic.
  • Seriously though, glamour spells are going to be a good option for you. use your make up, skin products, hair care products, brushes/combs, perfume, mirrors, toothbrush/toothepaste and intent. Good to do while you are getting ready for your day
  • Dream magic is another friend of the city witch! Use crystals, sigils, herbs, etc near your bed before you go to sleep, drink some chamomile, get yourself a dream journal (mine is literally a notebook with construction paper on it), keep it and a pen near you. In the morning write down your dreams, your thoughts, how you feel (tired, refreshed, groggy, etc), and interpret them.
  • Can’t afford tarot cards? Print out some, you can usually find them online and they won’t last as long as a real deck but it is a good temporary solution. Want a Ouija board but can’t keep one or need it to be easily hidden? Print one out, draw on one on paper or cardboard, fold it up and store it once you are done. Want a pendulum but can’t afford one? Use your favorite necklace, bracelet or keychain!
  • Tea and coffee magic is great, make your own tea blends with the herbs you like. Or just buy simple green or black tea and add sugar, milk, etc depending on your intentions
  • As I said before, crock pot magic. The Modern Cauldron: brew and cook all day with it, fill your apartment with the scent of the herbs and food to fill it with the energies they correspond with and you get a delicious meal to come home to! Most dorms allow them. Rice cookers also work well.
  • Can’t afford fresh food? Have to survive on ramen, canned soup, and microwaved meals? That is okay! They even correspond with things! Tomato soup for love, beauty and passion. Beef ramen noodles for strength, courage and longevity. Microwave mac n cheese for beauty and feminity. Look at their ingredients and what they correspond with. Sure its not as glamorous as a making a huge made by scratch traditional meal but its kitchen magic none the less. Stir it with your intent while you cook. It isn’t fancy but it works just as well!
  • Use a notebook or binder for a nice grimoire, decorate it as much as you want on the inside. Print out pictures of nature, animals, planets, stars, places, crystals, etc that you cant’ access/afford and use them in your craft. Spell books and grimoires are powerful tools
  • Don’t have a wand? Use a wooden spoon. Tie a colored string or ribbon to it to correspond with what energy you want it to have and move and flick it as you would a wand.
  • Knitting, crocheting, and knot magic is very apartment friendly. As well as sewing and embroidering plus it is super calming.
  • Glitter, sequins, and beads are great in witchcraft! Use their colors to determine their correspondences. Put them in spell jars, sachets, bottles, etc. Glitter tip: if you spill any don’t fret, get some packing tape, wrap it around your hand with the sticky part outwards and dab at that glitter spill. You will literally pick up all of the glitter in seconds!
  • Enchant and charge your pots, pans, skillets, and other cookware to make every meal magical
  • Make moonwater in your windowsills. Use it for cleansing, beauty, divination, clarity, protection and purification
  • Take walks. Even if it is a city there is still nature about. Pigeons flying about, potted flowers outside of stores, grass growing in front lawns, etc. Enjoy yourself, even if it is not some wild, vast forest you can still connect with your local nature.
  • Pick up litter or garbage you see outside, being in the city we all see it. The natural world around you will appreciate you helping out. Bring a bag with you when you take your walks or travel and fill it with wrappers you see on the ground.

I hope this was helpful to all of my fellow city and dorm witches!

Korean

어느 날 달에게
길고긴 편지를 썼어
너보다 환하진 않지만
작은 촛불을 켰어

어스름한 공원에
노래하는 이름모를 새
Where are you
Oh you

왜 울고 있는지
여긴 나와 너 뿐인데
Me and you
Oh you

I call you moonchild
우린 달의 아이
새벽의 찬 숨을 쉬네
Yes we’re livin and dyin
at the same time
But 지금은 눈 떠도 돼
그 어느 영화처럼 그 대사처럼
달빛 속에선 온 세상이 푸르니까

어스름한 공원에
노래하는 이름모를 새
Where are you
Oh you

왜 울고 있는지
여긴 나와 너 뿐인데
Me and you
Oh you

깊은 밤을 따라서

English

I wrote a long letter
to the moon one day
It isn’t brighter than you but
I lit a small candle

The nameless bird that sings
in the park at dawn
Where are you
Oh you

Why are you crying
It’s only me and you here
Me and you
Oh you

Your singing voice,
That follows deep into the night,
brings the scarlet morning
One step, then another step

Dawn passes by and
When that moon falls asleep,
then the blue light that was with me
disappears

Today, too, I go on living just enough
Keeping in step, wearing my feet out just enough
The sun makes me breathless
The world has stripped me of all I have
Without a choice, with no other alternative,
Under the moonlight I am picking up my scattered self
I call you moonchild
We are the children of the moon
We draw breath from the cold air of dawn
Yes we’re livin and dyin
at the same time
But right now it’s alright to open your eyes
Because like any movie, like any dialogue (from a movie)
The whole world is blue under the moonlight

The nameless bird that sings
in the park at dawn
Where are you
Oh you

Why are you crying
It’s only you and me here
Me and you
Oh you

Your singing voice,
That follows deep into the night,
brings the scarlet morning
One step, then another step

Dawn passes by and
When that moon falls asleep,
then the blue light that was with me
disappears

Your singing voice,
That follows deep into the night,
brings the scarlet morning
One step, then another step

Dawn passes by and
When that moon falls asleep,
then the blue light that was with me
disappears

R&V 4 o’clock ANALYSIS:  Who is the song really about aside from Jimin?

Do you all remember the moon & sun tattoo made of henna that V had in Hawaii ??? (Cr to @wingstyles) This means Taehyung thought of the song since then if not before. We always thought, why the sun and the moon? This song holds the answers.

WHO IS THE MOON?

It is said Taehyung wanted to write a song while thinking of Jimin as an element in it:

If we consider Jimin being the moon. The lyrics of 4 o’clock “I wrote a long, long letter to the moon“. Maybe he meant by writing a letter about whenever he vented to Jimin about his pain. Also In Nam Joon’s rap, “I collect myself that’s shattered beneath the moonlight“. Aren’t friends the ones who keep us whole when we are breaking? Or Taehyung was really in the park alone looking at the moon while thinking of someone, but who?

WHO IS THE SONG ABOUT?

“It would not be brighter than you, but I lighted a small candle at a dusky park … where are you” Why would Tae Hyung light a candle in a park? The ritual of lighting a candle to pay tribute to a life ‘passed’ has long been a part of many cultures.  Keeping a light burning in remembrance signifies that the memory still lives on and burns bright.  It is a ritual that promotes reflection and signifies remembrance. So maybe the song is at the end about Taehyung’s grandmother who passed away. V said that Jimin stood by his side the most during those hard times. The soothing ballad and the tone and feelings expressed in the song come to support this theory.

WHO IS THE MOON CHILD?

In rapmon’s part, he raps about a moon child “I call you Moonchild. The definition of a moon child is someone born under the astrological sign of Cancer. However when Rapmon says “We are the children of the moon“, knowing that no BTS member is a Cancer, we are left with the other meaning:  A unique individual, often described as being slightly crazy and over emotional. “Moonchildren sometimes say strange things”. Speaking of which isn’t Taehyung always described as the weirdest and most unique one in BTS?! Namjoon writes the lyrics as if he is consoling Tae about his lost one as the lyrics say “Yes we’re living and dying at the same time” asking him to accept the fact that all humans leave earth someday. V was so sad when his grandmother passed away because she was the one who raised him. So RM continues “but you can open your eyes for now” Trying to help him to move on

THE NOCTURNAL BIRD

The lyrics speak of a bird “A nameless bird that sings“. Normally we are used to birds singing during the day but Robins are insectivorous birds that are well adapted to foraging in dim light, and even continue to feed under artificial light well into the night (like the one in a park at night). It is one of the earliest birds to start the dawn chorus and one of the last to stop singing at night. With this tendency to be active in low light, robins can be easily triggered into a full song by a streetlight or any kind of floodlighting. Since robins keep territories all year round, they also sing all round the year. I also searched if the species is available in South Korea and it is HERE. But how does Taehyung knows about the existence of such a bird? Did this situation really occur? he  will interpret the singing of the bird as if he was too searching for that person “A nameless bird that sings where are you

In memory of Taehyung’s grandmother. May she rests in peace.

  • Light the candle.
  • Chant the following ten times:

By the time this black candle has waned,
the blessing of protection be gained
by all that fall beneath its wax
be safely guarded from attack.
Until the next waxing moon appears,
protect all that I have written here.

  • Allow the candle to burn completely down and the wax to spread across the paper.
  • Fold it and keep it until the next waxing moon.
  • Repeat as often as needed.

(say their name), be answered.
In dreams, let us be together again
and share the embrace of love.
I await your visit
and, for it, you have my deepest thanks.

One day, I wrote a long, long letter
To the moon
It’s not as bright as you are
But it lighted up a small candle light

The nameless bird
Singing in the dusky park
Where are you
Oh you

Why are you crying
It’s just me and you here
Me and you
Oh you

With the deep night
Your voice singing
And step by step
Bringing in the crimson morning

When the dawn passes
When the moon falls asleep
The blue light that was once with me
Will go away

Another day living my life moderately
Keeping my step, moving on moderately with no strength
The sun suffocates me
And the world strips me off all I have
I can’t do anything
But collecting the scattered bits of me under the moonlight
I call you moonchild
We are children of the moon
Inhaling the cold breath of the dawn
Yes we’re livin and dyin
At the same time
But you can open your eyes now
Because like the dialogue in a movie
In that moonlight the whole world is blue

The nameless bird
Singing in the dusky park
Where are you
Oh you

Why are you crying
It’s just me and you here
Me and you
Oh you

With the deep night
Your voice singing
And step by step
Bringing in the crimson morning

When the dawn passes
When the moon falls asleep
The blue light that was once with me
Will go away

So it took a while for this one but here is another Jenny’s Witchy How-To! Last time was Self Love Rose Soy Milk Tea, check it out HERE!

Based on the voting poll I did a while back on my Twitter, the top requested How-To was for a bath mix! <3

So because things have been crazy & stressful I want to remind everyone that it’s important to take a break from time to time and let go of the things that might be a little too heavy right now. Stop, breathe deep and take a moment to live in the moment & clear your mind! It’s ok to treat yourself, it’s ok to stop and relax!

Before you continue, please be aware of any allergies you might have! Always play it safe and read labels! This is just my personal blend but please feel free to substitute things to suit your needs! If you are unsure of something, a quick google search for alternatives should help! <3

Things You Will Need:

-Epsom Salt: Epsom Salt is great for relaxing muscles and soothing any tension you may be carrying. If you choose to use salt’s that are scented, be aware that the mingling smells combined with the oils and incense might effect the overall scent of your bath! Approx 1 cup

-Himalayan Salt: Salt in general is great for cleansing & purification, himalayan salt has the added bonus of self love & positivity! Just a small pile in about the palm of your hand should do.

-Lavender Essential Oil: Much like the rest of the ingredients, you don’t have to use this sent, I say lavender for a couple reasons: it’s a scent that is perfect for calm soothing relaxation, this oil is safe for skin contact, and it’s my preferred scent, hah! Please make sure whatever oil you use is safe for skin! Approx 5 drops.

-Dry Lavender: Now when I say dry lavender, I’m really saying any safe herb or flower you choose, hah! These can be dry or fresh! Again lavender is known for it’s relaxation benefits but feel free to look up herbs online or try some of these other relaxing herbs:
-chamomile -rosemary

-green tea -mint

-lemon balm -rose

-Small Bag/ Cheesecloth: So this part is optional for anyone who does not want the salts & flowers floating openly in the bath water. You are essentially going to be making a bath teabag using either a small loose fabric bag, cheese cloth or even a coffee filter will work! You are going to be putting everything but the oil in this and tying the top tightly closed so nothing spills out!

-Candles: If you have the counter space (that’s safe for it) I highly recommend candles! Putting out 3-4 small candles always helps me get into a more magical state of mind!

-Incense: If you like, try lighting your fave incense while you soak!

-Crystals: And heck yes you should put out some crystals to help raise your vibration to a positive level! You can have them set out nearby the tub OR if you know they will be ok in salt water you can add them into your bath with you! Remember to look up the properties of crystals before adding them into the water! I personally like to use tumbled amethyst, clear quartz and rose quartz stones which help with clarity of mind, positivity and self love!

-Drinking Water: Yes, drinking water! I always find myself getting dehydrated when I take these baths, not just because it’s hot & steamy but also because of the salts which can dehydrate you! I like to make an ice cold water with cucumber, blueberries and a little lemon!

And lastly, feel free to put your phone somewhere safe and play some meditation music!

Now that you have your items gathered up & you are ready to turn on the bath water take a moment to stop and breathe deeply. Imagine that all the thoughts, feelings and vibrations that are weighing you down or stressing you out are large stones in your arms. They are heavy but they are not serving your highest good. Remind yourself, “I no longer need these and they no longer weigh me down” and visualize yourself letting go of these stones. As you do this breathe deeply exhaling as you let go of the troubles from yesterday. Once you have let go of these troubles remind yourself “I allow myself to relax free of worry and free of fear”

<3 LET’S GET RELAXING! <3

Turn on your meditation music, light your candles and start your incense! Start filling your tub with hot/warm water, if you put your ingredients in a bag submerge and let the bag soak as the bath fills. If you choose to do the ingredients loose; as the bath fills add your salts and oils stirring them into the bath with your hand in a clockwise motion. Once the tub has filled add your crystals and herbs. Imagine that the crystals combined with the salts and herbs have made the water a bright glowing water of positivity and relaxation. As you step into these bright waters imagine it dissolving away any stress, worry, fear, anxiety, anything at all. Breathe deeply and say some positive affirmations! These can be anything from “I wash away the troubles of yesterday” to “I am at peace” or anything in particular that you feel is best for you! Once you have finished, make sure you compost all herbs and never let them go down the drain!

I hope you all enjoyed this relaxing bath & that you are all filled with positive energies as well as being in a calmer state of mind!

Much love <3

Offerings for Deities

It’s been a while since I’ve made a post. I’m going to address one of the most frequently asked questions I receive: How do I give offerings? For some reason, many beginner books don’t dive into the specifics of this religious practice which many are unfamiliar with. Hopefully this will help.

General Rules:

  1. Offerings are given as thank-yous, as little gifts to say that you appreciate the deity’s existence. They don’t have to be expensive, but they should be special in your eyes. For example, I often offer donuts or wine simply because I don’t buy those two things often.
  2. Offerings should be appropriate for the deity you’re giving them to.
  3. You’re allowed to get creative with offerings–in fact, the Gods even prefer that you do!
  4. How often you give offerings in accordance to your practice is up to you.
  5. You may give apology offerings for any offense you think you may have made.
  6. Prayers, songs, playlists, and there intangible gifts still count as offerings.
  7. You do not need an altar to give offerings. You can give offerings anywhere, at anytime.
  8. Simply saying “This is for you” makes the object an offering.

Food Offerings:

  1. Most food offerings are eaten after being offered. The main exceptions are Greek chthonic deities, and ancestors, in which case you do not eat the offerings. Research your specific pantheon to make sure if eating is appropriate or not.
  2. There is no set amount of time to leave out food offerings. In fact, many worshippers will eat said offerings right after they offer them.
  3. If you do not eat food offerings, you may throw them away, saying something like, “Though I discard these physical offerings, the spiritual offering remains”.
  4. You may also bury the offerings. Make sure that the offerings will not harm the surrounding environment or animals. Do not bury them in a jar or plastic bag.
  5. If you offer herbs, you may either burn them using a charcoal block or cauldron, or you may throw them out/bury them. While burning is certainly traditional in many pantheons, do not feel the need to if you will be bothered by the potent smoke or handling fire.

Liquid Offerings:

  1. Liquid offerings are handled in the same way food offerings are, with the exception of oils.
  2. You do not have to drink oils after offering them. (Drinking straight olive oil is pretty gross, and please DO NOT drink harmful essential oils!) I recommend pouring them into the ground outside, or into the trash can.
  3. You may pour liquid offerings into the offering bowl, or, you may keep the liquid offering in a cup. I have a special teacup that I often use for offerings such as tea, but any regular teacup will do. After all, you are offering the liquid, not the cup.

Incense and Candle Offerings:

  1. According to tradition, these offerings must be left to burn out on their own. I recommend lighting small tea light candles for these offerings, as big candles burn for a long time. However, some modern Pagans may blow, rinse, or snuff them out early to prevent a fire hazard.
  2. Make sure to be present while the offering is lit, and make sure nothing catches on fire.
  3. If you are bothered by incense smoke, using an essential oil diffuser or unscented candle works fine.
  4. Although many Pagans recommend incense as a general offering, you do not have to offer it, or any candles, if they bother you.

Plant Offerings:

  1. If you offer a plucked flower, you may leave it on an altar or table until it withers. Afterwards you may throw it away. Basically, you handle it as any other friend would had you given them a plucked flower.
  2. If you offer a growing or potted plant, tend to it as you would your other plants. If it dies, that’s okay. Simply discard it as you would normally. The Gods understand that plants die, and They appreciate the beauty of plants while they last.

Other Offerings:

  1. For objects such as stones, shells, or family heirlooms, keep them on the altar or somewhere else special. Ideally, you will not need to throw these away. If they get damaged somehow, and if you cannot repair them, you may throw them out, but give an apology offering and try to replace them.
  2. For artworks or crafts, place them on the altar or hang them somewhere. Don’t sell your offerings; they are gifts you gave to the Gods and not yours to sell.
  3. For songs, play or sing them anytime you’d like to connect or give something to your deity.
  4. For writings, you may keep them, or some people might burn them to “send” to their Gods. Whichever way is up to you.
  5. For e-shrines or other technological offerings, keep them saved in their own folder, keep them nice and up-to-date.
  6. For magical tools, such as grimoires or wands that you dedicate, feel free to use them as normal. Just take care of them, and remember to thank the deity you devoted them to once in a while.
  7. For daily or private actions, such as cleaning, giving to others, etc., simply think “This is for you” or send your energy to the God, and finish the action.
  8. You may say prayers out loud, write them down, or simply think them in your mind. All are perfectly legitimate.

I hope I got all of this. Feel free to reblog or message with corrections, since I know I don’t know everything about every pantheon. Have a beautiful day, and have fun worshipping!! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

This is why they tell you not to leave candles burning unattended.

I was sitting upstairs in my room when I noticed a smell like candle smoke. I figured that my mom might have forgotten to blow out a candle before she left about two hours ago, and that the breeze coming through the windows had snuffed it out. Still, I decided to check on it, because I thought it strange that I would smell the smoke so clearly.

I could see no candles smoking or otherwise on the first floor, but the smell persisted. I tracked it down to our bathroom there.

Now, some background. When my mom has company over, she likes to set a small votive candle burning inside a fancy glass holder, and place that in the bathroom. She’d had had some ladies over this morning at around nine, and doubtless had done that.

Which means when I poked my head into the bathroom to investigate, this particular votive had been burning unattended for six hours.

When I opened the door, I saw that a corner of the glass holder had been blown away and had landed in the sink. The flame of the votive was burning far higher than that tiny candle had a right to burn. Probably because the flames were starting to consume the little aluminum cup that the wax had filled. Yeah, not only had the glass exploded, but the flame had gotten hot enough that it was starting to burn metal.

So please. Whether you’re trying to freshen up a room with a pumpkin spice candle you got to celebrate the season or are making offerings at a personal altar, do not leave your candles burning unattended

( week 40: 10/08 - 10/14 )

it’s certainly been a bit since i made a spread, & it’s partly because i’ve been so drained & so busy that it’s not on my mind. this week is themed after my hopeless romantic heart + pastels, thanks to me visiting a candle shop with some friends!

Found out about a closed down wicca store so I went and stocked up on reduced witchy loot. Gonna be using some of it to create little gift sets for my etsy store, so look out. But to be honest, a good amount of it is my for my personal stash of spells and potions. 🔮

I JUST MADE THE SMOLEST POCKET ALTAR

IT’S SO TINY

My baby hand for reference

Despite smolness it’s packed with useful things!

  • Tea light (all 5 elements)
  • Acorn cap (chalice)
  • Quartz shard (serves as wand)
  • Red jasper (for grounding, represents earth)
  • Silver jingle bell (air)
  • Match (fire)
  • Conch (water)
  • Nail (athame)
  • Clove
  • Cinnamon shaving
  • Mini-broom (a sprout of rosemary)
  • Red thread
  • Black pepper grain
  • Clear marble (for scrying)
  • Marble holder
  • Pendulum
  • Pendulum mat
  • Match striker (glued to the side of the box, my personal strike of genius, pun intended)

To be added in the near future:

  • Altar cloth
  • Major arcana tarot deck or oracle deck
  • Replace the pendulum for something heavier and more balanced

I have SO MUCH ROOM STILL. I’m definitely going to find more things to put in here!

“In my dream the world had suffered a terrible disaster. A black haze shut out the sun, and the darkness was alive with the moans and screams of wounded people. Suddenly, a small light glowed. A candle flickered into life, symbol of hope for millions. A single tiny candle, shining in the ugly dark. I laughed and blew it out.“

Finally made a proper painting of one of my favorite Batman villains.

I am so here for witchcraft small businesses. Handmade items infused with magic. Crystals. Unique candles. Spell kits. Grimoires. We need to all support each other in this community when we can. If you have a picture of some witchy products you’re selling that needs a signal boost, give me a shout. I will happily spread the witchy goodness on my blog for my followers. :)

Candle Wax Scrying How-To

Candle wax readings are similar to tea leave readings, but instead of reading symbols and messages formed by wet tea leaves inside your teacup, candle drippings formed in water are interpreted.

The following materials will be needed:

  • Scrying bowl
    • Any type of container can be used as a scrying bowl. However, it is best to use a bowl made out of natural materials or one that has a reflective surface.
    • Avoid using plastics and aluminum containers
    • Ceramic or glass bowls are excellent choices
  • Water
    • Any form of water can be used during scrying. However, I have found that natural water from a stream or rain works best.
  • Pen and paper
  • Candle with matches
    • For the main candle used for scrying, you have the choice of using a white candle or a colored candle that represents the question that you want to ask.

Note: You do not necessarily need to have a definite question to be able to scry.

Small tea light candles can be placed around the room to create a peaceful atmosphere.

Pre-Scrying Session:

  • Gather the supplies needed for your candle wax reading session.
  • Prepare a room to your liking (lock the doors, close the blinds, etc). Dim the lights, light some incense, and allow the light of small candles to dance around the room.
  • Concentrate on your breathing, taking deep breathes and feeling calmness consume you.
  • As you fall into a deeper state of meditation, feel your energy flow through you.
  • When ready, push the energy outward and imagine its white color engulf your surroundings.
    • At this time, you should be feeling either a tingly sensation inside of you or be so relaxed that you experience yourself entering a deeper dimension.
  • Once you feel comfortable, open your eyes.

During Session:

  • Write your question down (if you have one) on a piece of paper and place it next to the scrying water bowl.
  • When ready, light the candle that will be used to scry and allow the wax to drip upon the water inside the bowl.
    • Do not move the bowl or touch the water.
    • Let the wax and water blend naturally.
  • Keep a state of calmness and relaxation throughout the process, maintaining your question in mind.
    • The time that you spent during this phase of the ritual is up to you. Some people believe they get the answer to their question in a couple of minutes, while others wait till the entire candle is finished.

Post-Scrying Session:

  • Once exhaustion starts setting in, the energy around you will begin to dissipate and slowly become smaller.
  • Allow the energy to naturally fade out and come back inside you.
  • Take the piece of paper where you wrote your question and allow it to be burnt by the fire of the candle that was used during scrying or dip it into the water.
  • Put out the fire of the candle, turn on the lights, and begin to interpret your wax findings. There are no right or wrong ways to interpret candle wax. It is your own personal experience!
    • Numbers can indicate days, weeks, months, or years.
    • Letters can represent clues to a person’s name or place.
    • A circle could represent the beginning or end of a cycle.
    • A cluster of dots may represent a group of people.
    • If there is one formation sitting at a distance from the other drippings, it could represent isolation.
°*☆The Magick of Bottle Necklaces ☆*°

(≧◡≦)♡ Hello!

Zana here! Today I’ll be talking about lovely bottle necklaces☆*°

Bottle necklaces are cute and fashionable teeny jars that hang from your neck, usually containing sand, glitter, or small objects. The beauty with these is that no one will think your necklace will have anything to do with witchcraft! These charms are perfect for broom closet witches. Here are a few examples:

You don’t need to buy a necklace for $7-$14, when you can make your own magickally infused bottle necklace yourself for no more than a few bucks!

All you need is:

  • Tiny jars that you can obtain from a packet of nail glitter, found in the nail section in any dollar store (Family Dollar, Dollar General, etc.) Typically $1

  • Roll of Cords/Chain/Cotton String (anything that can hold the jar around your neck) from the Arts and Crafts section of any store OR an unused chain you already have. Typically $1-$3 depending on the store

  • SuperGlue from the Arts and Crafts section of any store OR superglue that you already have at home. Typically $1-$2 depending on the store

  • Your own magickal objects, such as herbs, sand, glitter, or small crystals!
  • Optional: Candle Wax

How to Make Your Own Magickal Bottle Necklace!

  1. Decide what your bottle’s enchantment will be (luck, spiritual growth, protection, calm, wishes, etc) and gather the materials corresponding to the intent.
  2. Cleanse your items from negative energy however way you like (jar, cord, and magickal item|s|)
  3. Add your magickal item(s) into the jar (optional: you may chant something to state the intent of your magick as you add your item|s|)
  4. Seal the jar with the cork it came with using super glue, so the items don’t come out or the jar accidentally opens. (Optional: You can add candle wax for that ~aesthetic~)
  5. Add the material you’ll be using to hang your jar from to make it a necklace.

Done! You now have a homemade bottle necklace, infused with your magick☆*°
You can also personalize your bottle necklace however you want!
