  1. RULES, RULES, RULES. This is important. You need to set rules for yourself, and if you are truly ana, you will have no problem sticking to them because you are STRONG! Rules are everything. Examples: Don’t eat anything white. Do not, under any circumstances, eat after 6:00. Don’t eat before 3:00. Cut each bite into x amount of pieces, chew x amount of times. Do not eat anything that has over 3 grams of fat. Make your own and keep adding to them.
  2. Ana must be the center of your life.
  3. Drink a full glass of water before you eat and then sip a full glass between bites, you’ll get full much faster. Remember it takes 20 minutes for the brain to realize the stomach is full.
  4. Eat denser food because it feels like more. Light and fluffy foods compact in your digestive tract and you will feel hungry soon after.
  5. Take out only the amount of food you plan to eat and don’t allow seconds.
  6. Think before you eat. Don’t eat while distracted (TV, etc). Stop and consider if you really want to eat that then consciously give yourself permission.
  7. 4 100-calorie meals is better than one 400-calorie meal.
  8. Never eat anything bigger than about a cup, your stomach will expand and you’ll get hungry more. If you need to, eat more frequently, not bigger amounts.
  9. Slim-Fast and other “healthy” bars and shakes have more carbs and calories than in the meal they’re intended to replace. Stay away.
  10. Drink at least a glass of water every hour. It’s better for weight loss to sip throughout the day than to chug a full glass (except before eating, in which case it can make you eat less, or make you slightly nauseous so you don’t want to eat at all). Try keeping a water bottle somewhere you’ll see it a lot, like every 10-20 minutes, and take a drink from it every time you see it/notice it.
  11. Drink up to a shot of apple cider vinegar before eating, it’s supposed to minimize fat absorption. Also speeds metabolism and can help curb cravings. Drinking more than a shot causes a vague nausea which helps suppress appetite.
  12. Ice or gum are good food substitutes. Celery works too if you’re really hungry.
  13. Use small, dark colored plates. Dark blue or black makes you eat less, and smaller plates and utensils cause you to take smaller portions from the start.
  14. Make a list of “bad” foods. Periodically, cross one of the list and pledge to never, ever eat it again. Eventually there will be none left.
  15. Eat in front of a mirror, naked or in underwear if possible. If you can’t, carry a picture of yourself in a revealing outfit and look at it when you want to eat. When you have cravings pinch your fat and look at your problem areas, don’t add to them!
  16. Eat a lot of fiber for digestive health and low calories.
  17. Create a methodical routine for eating. Cut food into tiny pieces, count your bites and the number of times you chew, set your utensils down between bites, and sip water between bites. Add other rules or rituals of your own.
  18. Eat higher-calorie items earlier in the day so you have more time to burn them off; if you eat late eat light or it will be more likely to be stored as fat due to inactivity. Try not to eat too late, sleep burns calories and is a good opportunity to burn fat with little effort. The body must burn through all digesting food before taking energy from stored food (fat).
  19. When you go out, take very little money or only enough to buy whatever non-food item you plan on buying. This will make it harder to buy food on impulse.
  20. Don’t take bites, either from others’ food or while cooking, as the calories add up surprisingly fast and you may not realize how much extra you’re taking in.
  21. Write down everything you eat and its calories. This will make you think before eating and also make you more aware of how much food and calories you are actually consuming. You can also write down other things such as how you’re feeling, who you’re with, place, time, and why you chose to eat it, this will help you track patterns in your eating behavior.
  22. Wear a rubber band around your wrist and snap it when you want to eat. Food = pain.
  23. Set a time you cannot eat past. 6:00 or 7:00pm are good choices. This is especially helpful if you are prone to night binging. Then make a rule that you cannot eat before 6:00 or 7:00AM, this is like having a 12-hr fast every day.
  24. You shouldn’t eat for at least 3 hours before going to bed. The extra hours will help burn off the calories. If you eat soon before sleeping, you absorb more calories due to inactivity and you put on weight.
  25. Have a peppermint or peppermint tea. Peppermint decreases hunger.
  26. Brush your teeth when you want to eat. The clean feeling and mint aftertaste will put you off food.
  27. Press on your stomach when it grumbles. TUMS also stop stomach growling and have calcium.(5 calories a piece so be careful!)
  28. Carry a list of all the reasons you want to be thin and avoid food. Look at it when you want to eat to remind yourself why you won’t. Or, write a new list every time you want to eat. It’ll distract you, postpone eating, and thinking of the reasons will inspire you.
  29. Cut a ribbon the size you want your waist to be. wrap and tie it around your wrist like a bracelet. Every time you look at it you’ll be reminded of your goals. When you’re tempted, take it off and wrap it around your waist. See how close you are, or how far you have to go, and resist the temptation.
  30. Always leave at least one bite of food on your plate. This will help you to be able to stop eating and prevent binges. It will also stop you from compulsively finishing portions even when you have eaten enough.
  31. Save $1 for every meal you don’t eat, then use the money to buy yourself a non-food present.
  32. Friends will only get in the way. Avoid them until you reach your goals.
  33. Never eat in secret. This is a terrible habit that leads to compulsive binging. If you wouldn’t eat it in front of all your friends you shouldn’t be eating it at all! Also if you only eat around other people they will know that you do eat and assume you eat alone as well, thus lessening suspicion that you have an ED.
  34. Never eat out of a box or jar. Always eat from a plate or bowl. This will help you in several ways: You will see how much you are really eating; you can determine in advance how much you will eat and not go back for seconds; using a small plate or bowl will make you eat even less; you can count/measure out an exact serving and know the accurate amount of calories you are consuming.
  35. Give clothes to Goodwill as they get too big for you. Don’t keep them around “just in case.”
  36. If you live alone, put thinspo and/or reverse thinspo pictures on the pantry and refrigerator. A mirror works well too.
  37. When you have hunger pangs, picture your stomach eating away your fat, and that what you feel is the feeling of thinness and your fat burning away.
  38. Coffee is an appetite suppressant. Drink it black or with Splenda or other no-calorie sweetener.
  39. Count your bites, and the number of times you chew them. Plan in advance how many bites you can have. Then make them smaller or use smaller utensils.
  40. Paint your nails so you can’t eat until the polish dries. Teeth whitening strips are good too.
  41. Drink water before eating. If you’re still hungry, drink green tea or broth. If you still need to eat, you’ll eat less than you would have.
  42. Eat low-calorie foods with strong flavors. Sometimes you’re craving taste, not food. For bouillon, use less water than is recommended. Peppermints, pickles, peppers, and mustard are good choices.
  43. Do not eat anything unless you know the exact amount of calories in it.
  44. Chew gum while cooking. That way you can’t take bites while it is cooking, and you won’t want to eat it once it’s done.
  45. Keep food out of sight, not sitting out, and stay away from food and the kitchen to keep your mind off it.
  46. Keep a pocket thinspo in your wallet with your cash so you won’t spend money on food.
  47. For sweet cravings, lick a chopstick and dip it into a diet Swiss Miss pack.
  48. Write your current weight on one hand, and your goal weight on the other. When you go to eat, you’ll be reminded how fat you are, and how skinny you could be.
  49. The Four D’s:
        Distance yourself from food.
        Distract yourself.
        Delay eating
        Decide what your goals really are.
  50. Green tea raises metabolism and is very good for the skin and overall health. Drink it in the morning to increase metabolism for the day. Add lemon to make it more effective and to add a detoxifying aspect.
  51. Hot water with lemon is another good morning drink.
  52. Spicy foods raise metabolism, if you don’t like them you can take cayenne pepper capsules available in supplement section of drugstores or health food stores.
  53. Drinking apple cider vinegar is said to raise metabolism, have a few tablespoons, can also be mixed in water (with lemon would be best) or used as salad dressing.
  54. Start the morning with stretching to wake up your muscles, the morning is also the best time to exercise because your body will use stored food (fat) as fuel instead of food you ate. It also processes food better throughout the day and gives you more energy if you exercise in the morning.
  55. Get at least 6 hours of sleep each night, less than this can decrease metabolism by 10% and increase appetite by 15%. You look better and feel better when you have more sleep also if you’re sleeping then you’re not eating!
  56. Keep good posture, it burns 10% more calories throughout the day. You also look better.
  57. Vitamin B6 and B12 raise metabolism and give you energy.
  58. Eating protein increases your metabolic rate by 14%.

The new ability had come out of nowhere. One minute Pidge was frustrated with a new upgrade, and the next a human version of her Lion was pointing out what was wrong with the programming.
After that, a human form became available to Black, Yellow, and even Red. Green looked quite similar to Pidge’s mother, Colleen. Black explained that they chose their form based on an important female figure in their Paladin’s life, with a few differences. Like Green having bright lime colored hair and golden eyes.
The hair color matched the Lion’s metal, and all of their eyes were golden. They were a physical manifestation of their own Quintessence, while their metal bodies stayed put.
And yet, Blue still didn’t have her human form. That function was damaged, and she’d had no time to repair it since she’d been reactivated.
Lance didn’t blame her one bit, but he did feel slightly jealous every time he saw Hunk and Yellow, a bubbly yet bulky blonde reminiscent of Hunk’s mother, chatting away and baking in the kitchen or Keith actually laughing while training with Red, who may have been short and slim figured but was fast on her feet.
What really hurt, was that nobody seemed to care about it. Their Lions took his place as the friendly guy to the team. Pidge had Green to keep her active, Hunk had Yellow to soothe his anxiety, Shiro had Black to calm his flashbacks or nightmares, Keith had Red to tell him when to stop training for the day.
Nobody needed him around anymore.
Most of his time was spent in Blue’s cockpit, blurting out his frustrations and worries and fears while she hummed to him to calm him, upset she couldn’t assure his worth with words like she wished to do. He didn’t know if anybody even noticed that he was hardly around anymore, aside from missions. He kept it to himself, knowing that the Lions made his team happy, he couldn’t be selfish and beg for attention. He was raised better than that.
The tipping point was during a mission to destroy a Galran main support ship. They had formed Voltron to fight back, but that’s where everything went to Hell. An overcharged laser cannon hit Blue, inflicting horrifying damage and actually snapping the leg off of the main body. They were forced to split up, Blue returning to her previous Lion form but unable to move as her pilot wasn’t responsive.
Blue was sent flying at high speeds into a planet so very very far away from her sisters, crashing into a black ocean that felt thick and heavy against her metal skin as they sunk to the planet’s ice cold core.
Her Lance was bleeding, badly. He was burnt and sliced up from the electricity of the laser. She drew in power from the sludgy ocean and forced herself to form a human body inside her own cockpit. Fluffy, curly blue hair bounced around her tan shoulders as her slim, twiggy body smoothed out her blue t-shirt and jean shorts, grimacing at the sticky dark red liquid staining her bare feet.
Wasting no time, she hurried to where her first aid kit was stored and pulled out everything, more than a little frantic. She almost slid on the bloody floor while dashing back, but she caught herself and pulled away his armor, leaving him in his black undersuit. She’d left a working light on before she’d shifted, as it was pitch dark outside her windows, and proceeded to tend to the burns and slashes carefully.
She pulled him onto the floor with her, and tucked his head onto her chest, purring soothingly, light glinting off of her golden eyes. She tilted her head back to look at the ceiling.
She hoped her sisters found them soon.

1. Drink one glass of water every hour. It will make you feel full.
2. Drink ice cold water. Your body will burn calories just getting the water to a normal temperature to digest. Also it is great for your complexion.
3. Drink 3 cups of green tea daily. It will help boost your metabolism, plus its anti-oxidants make your skin look great.
4. Take vitamins daily. Do not take vitamins on an empty stomache, otherwise they have nothing to catalyze with.
5. Eat ice or gum when hungry. This will make your body think it had food without the calories.
6. Do aerobics until you want to faint.
7. Eat spicy foods. They raise your metabolism.
8. Take cold showers because your body will burn calories to heat you back up.
9. DON’T take laxatives. They don’t help you to lose weight.
10. DON’T use diruretics. They only dehydrate you.

28. Make an ANA scrapbook with pics of skinny models. Right down all the reasons you want to lose weight. Keep track of everything you eat. Look at it daily for thinsperation.

56. When having cravings drink a couple glasses of water with slices of lemons and count to 100 and it should go away.
57. Eating 100 cals 4 times a day is better than eating a 400 cal meal.
58. An occasional binge doesn’t hurt, in fact it’s quite beneficial if you have reached a plateau (stopped losing weight). Your body will think you have stopped starving yourself, and you will drop at least a pound overnight! Just don’t binge too regularly!
59. Someone told me that if you take a pure cold bath for 15-30 min and lower your body temp, your body burns around 200 cals for every degree it has to raise itself to reach a normal body temperture. This person tried it, a 30 min bath lowered their temp about 3-4 degrees

Hey, I'm writing this story and I have all my characters planned along with a few main points of the plot. Now, I'm writing a pirate fantasy romance story and I wanted some advice on it, especially on the relationship with the pirate and the main girl. Since most of the story will be set on the pirate ship I needed some help on things that could happen between them on it to get them to get close (The girl is captured by the way). Also about parts of pirate ships if it's too much.

Ooooh boy did you come to the right person! I know a few things about pirates and definitely knows the parts of a ship. I’d say “don’t get me started on pirates” but I’m afraid it’s too late.

Let’s talk about the ship first, since familiarity with it well help you set the scenes more naturally, and then we’ll brainstorm some things that they could do together on board.

First of all, let’s talk about types of ships. There isn’t just one established “pirate ship” that all pirates use. Ships were designed and redesigned for different purposes and conditions- some were built for speed, some for cargo, some for long voyages or harsh conditions, some for defense and some for attack. No single ship would ever be completely perfect- if you want your ship to be fast, for example, you might have to sacrifice some cargo space, which meant a smaller crew and less months at sea before you have to make port to re-stock again.

However, with all that being said, there was definitely some favorites. While it’s true that pirates from different parts of the world sometimes preferred different ships, the most common and popular would probably be the sloop. (Yes, I know it’s a funny word, lots of ships had funny names.) 

Sloops were a favorite among pirates because they were slim and fast, which made them great for intercepting other ships and escaping attacks themselves. They typically only had 1 or very rarely 2-3 masts, and usually had up to 75 crew members, at its largest, and a max of 14 cannons, which is pretty darn good.

Of course there are other options, depending on the needs of your particular pirates. Another popular option was the brigantine, which was not nearly as fast, but better suited for the long term, with a crew closer to 100 members and usually around 12 cannons. 

I know more ships, but let’s not get carried away. Let’s take a look at some of the more interesting parts of the ship.

Basics:

  Port= left, starboard= right, stern=back, and bow=front. When you refer to something as being “aft”, you mean it’s towards the back of the ship, towards stern. When something is “fore”, it means it is found closer to the front of the ship, or the bow. 

Galley= kitchen

Brig= prison

The head= the toilet

The Helm= the “steering wheel” of the ship

First, let’s know our decks. As you probably know, the deck is the top part of the ship, the wood that you walk on and where you see most of the action take place in movies, but there are different names for the different parts of the deck. The “poop deck” is the highest part, usually raised above the captain’s quarters, which was typically found “aft”, towards the back of the ship. The quarterdeck, on the other hand, is the important deck, usually where the captain or quartermaster stands and gives the orders. The big part is just called the deck or main deck.

The Captain’s quarters were briefly mentioned- the captain was the only one who had his own residence, and they were typically pretty luxurious.

Now the actually somewhat interesting parts.

NOT “The Crow’s Nest”!!!: The part you know as the “crow’s nest” is not actually called a crow’s nest, or at least, not on a pirate ship. That’s actually whaling terminology. The platform at the top of the mast is actually called the “top” or “fighting top” and yes, it can be used for scouting out land or obstacles, but it was actually known for a being a good place to sit with a gun and shoot your enemies on the deck, like a pirate sniper.

The Forecastle: This is the quarters of the crew. Often times in stories I see the crew each having their own cabins, or at the most, a roommate or two. That’s not exactly how it worked on an actual ship. Not that they actually spent much time in the bunk- it was really just a place to sleep when not on duty.

The Bilge: The is the bottom part of the ship. Dark, dank, musty, gross, but also the first place to tell if you have a leak. If you do have a leak, you want to run down to the bilge and fix them quickly, because if it fills up, you’re going down.

The Mast: There are actually different names for the different masts, depending on how many your ship has. If you have a speedy ship, it’s probably slow and you probably only have the one “main mast.” If the mast is destroyed, it’s not uncommon to build an emergency one really fast, called the “jury mast”- since you do need a mast to sail. The mast is the big wooden pole in the middle from which the sails are hung.

The Yardarm: This is the long pole that goes across the mast to hold the sails. I included it because it was also a popular place to hang people on.

Gangway/Gangplank: They’re actually different things. The gangWAY is the passages along the side of a ship, like a hallway. The gangPLANK is what is set down to walk on between ship and pier. 

In honesty, all of the sails and lines have different names and purposes too, but I’m not going to get too into it right now. You can find some of them on websites like this or this.

Now for what they can do together…

A lot depends on their status on board. If the girl has been captured, determine how her captivity is taking place. If she’s being locked in the brig or cabin, their first interactions might involve them bringing her food or care, etc.

- It’s also possible that they are made to guard her, and hours of boredom turns to conversation after a while

It also matters what role the pirate has on board the ship. Here is an idea of roles on board a pirate ship.

If she has some amount of freedom (it is a ship at sea, what’s she gonna do, run away?), that will open up some more possibilities.

  • If the girl is curious, she might be interested in seeing how the ship is run. Or, the captain could potentially decide to make her help out with things. She is an extra pair of hands, after all. 
  • There are lots of tasks involved within the running of a ship. She doesn’t necessarily have to be doing the sailing- she could help out in the galley, sew sails or clothes, maintain weapons, and so on. 
  • Maybe she is made to do some tasks, but she doesn’t know how, and they take pity and try to help her out a little
  •  There’s nothing like a nice emergency to make people work together. Being forced to work together for survival- a storm, a mutiny, an attack,etc- is a great bonding experience for anyone.
  • Perhaps the girl has something that the pirate wants, depending on her background. A random example- perhaps she has an educated background, and the pirate has something that they need read, or written, or something else. Really, it could be any knowledge that she has that they might be interested in.
  • Maybe she has something they want to know, so they’re nice to her in trying to get information, but then end up actually becoming close
  • Conversely, maybe she is interested in something that they can do, and keeps talking to them about it until their interest becomes mutual

Anyone else doing the Slim Fast diet, by any chance? I just started, and I think it’d be so much easier to have a diet buddy I can chat with who is going through the same kind of thing. My friends are awesome, but they also really like to feed me and don’t quite seem to understand why I want to diet. xD

Sooo, anyone doing that thing? Or a different diet? And want a diet buddy?
