The Boy who Slept

Harry was, surprisingly, a heavy sleeper. Maybe it was because he finally felt safe; finally felt like he didn’t have to bolt out the door every time there was a noise, or a bump.

Though, it wasn’t always so easy for Harry to sleep. Sleep made him vulnerable. Sleep made it easy for someone to attack . Draco would set up wards, and charms before bed every night. He would hold Harry till his heart beat slowed, and his breathing evened out. Draco would wait, watching Harry’s fist uncurl, and his body stop twitching.

But that was a long time ago. Now, Harry is asleep before his head touches the pillow. Yet, somehow, he always manages to wrap himself around Draco, as if he was is anchor, his protection, his lifeline.

And Draco would hold him back just as tightly, because Harry was, after all, his whole world.

i’ve waited all day to let these thoughts and feelings out the way i want. i try and get my words straight and ordered but everybody talks and moves so fast they’ve already moved on, sometimes i am standing still seeming confident but completely lost. my body feels heavy and torrential, sometimes i just need sleep and sleep and sleep. even at my worst and saddest i am there for people, always reliable, never giving up on people, but where are they when i need them most? my silence is probably to blame, if i only i could straighten out my words properly to explain

Insomnia-Be-Gone!

A soothing sachet to tuck under your pillow or hang over your bed. Get a good night’s sleep and wake up refreshed!

INGREDIENTS

Pick and choose some of the following herbs. I typically use a mixture of about 4, or whichever I happen to have on hand at the time. I try to avoid too many at once because that results in an overwhelming scent.

Anise - Known to repel nightmares.

Calendula – Brings about a good night’s sleep.

Cedar – Calms the mind and wards off bad dreams.

Chamomile – One of the most powerful sleep herbs on the list.

Jasmine – Gives good dreams, but can cause erotic dreams in women.

Lavender – The ultimate in stress relief herbs.

Lemon Balm – Stress relieving sleep aid.

Mugwort – Helps ward off bad dreams.

Mullein – Can be used to protect against bad dreams or psychic attack.

Rose petals – Brings about dreams of love. Can also cause erotic dreams if used too heavily.

Next, gather the following stones.

Clear Quartz — Who doesn’t love clear quartz? It’s like an energy booster for your other stones.

Amethyst — This gem helps guard against nightmares, but also helps soothe an overactive mind and wipes away the stress of the day (or week).

Rose Quartz — Bring in some of rose quartz’ love and peace. This brings deep, restorative sleep and over time can build self-love and overall happiness.

Lepidolite — Probably my most recommended stone. Lepidolite is like kryptonite to even the most super-est of stresses and depressions. It can stop obsessive thoughts, bring mood swings into line, and will upend dependency and mental anguish that might be keeping you up at night.

DIRECTIONS

Take the stones (little chips are just as good as big chunks) and place them in a bowl. Add any essential oils (many of the floral herbs are more fragrant in their oil form) and use your hands to roll the stones around until coated.  While doing so, focus your intent as soft pink or yellow (or whatever color is soothing to you) light radiating from your hands.

Next, add the remaining herbs. Continue to hand mix the ingredients while focusing your intent. Once thoroughly mixed, hold your hands over the bowl and really expand that “light” into a ball of positive, soothing energy.

If you’d like, say a quick invocation or spell. Something like:

When I lay me down to sleep

I ask of you my dreams to keep.

No more tossing, no more turning.

No more stress and questions burning.

Only rest and gentle sleep,

Until the morning’s dawn shall peep.

You can change the words to fit your needs, or skip it altogether. It doesn’t have to rhyme - that’s just a simple device some people use. Hell, it doesn’t even need to make sense, as long as it is you channelling your will into the mixture.

DO. NOT. RUSH. THIS. PART. Breathe. Let your will do its work.

Once you’ve imbued the mixture with your will, transfer it to a muslin bag or pouch. Hang near your bed or tuck under your pillow. 


As a side-note, always feel free to experiment with this and any of my other recipes. This is what works for me. Maybe you find catnip or vervain soothing. Add it!  Maybe tourmaline is your power crystal. Add it!  And if you experiment with the recipe and find something that seems to work really well, let me know!

If you ever have trouble sleeping at night, here’s a few tips to help:

🌸 brew a cup of chamomile tea

🌸 relax your muscles in a lavender Epson salt bath & light some incense

🌸 play a soundscape (click for rain on leaves) & darken the room

🌸 apply a calming lotion to your skin while giving yourself a gentle massage

🌸 If all else fails, try taking melatonin supplements. They’re easily found in the vitamin aisle of most grocery stores. I highly recommend only starting out with 3mg first!

It always guarantees me a good night’s sleep when I do all these things so I thought I’d share in case anyone could use the tips. Sleep tight, everyone!

how to wake up happier ♡

For the past few days I’ve woken up feeling a lot happier and way more positive, simply by starting a few more healthy habits. I figured that I might sprinkle and share some of my positivity with you peeps! ♡ 

If you are recovering from any mental health issues, or want to take the next step, this might be benefitial to you, as it was to me - however, I will warn you that different things work for different people :)

before bed:
practise self-care and self-love, think positive thoughts, breathe fresh air, listen to calming music, read a good and positive book, drink water - stay hydrated kiddos, drink some calming tea, take any medication you need to, make sure everything you need for tomorrow is prepared and make sure that you room is in good conditions to sleep in. 

when you wake up:
don’t reach for your phone the moment you wake up, open your curtains, open your window and let some fresh air in, have a drink, stretch and remember the positive thoughts you went to bed with.

I showed up twice in the SWCO Closing Ceremonies reel - which was gorgeous and is here

The first was from the 40th Anniversary panel tribute to Carrie. I was standing on a chair, and every one of those people around me was so wonderful and supportive. The second was from the Rebels panel with @lorna-ka immediately following Filoni’s announcement that the show was going into its final season. 

The past four days have been intense, mad, overwhelming, frustrating and so very wonderful. Thank you to every single person that I met, whether it was holding hands at the 40th anniversary or grabbing a quick photo, the fastest hello or a compliment or hours spent sitting in a queue together, or standing in the middle of the floor when a quick photo turns into an hour long in-depth chat. Thank you to every child who gasped, smiled or waved when they saw Hera walking their way, and to every fellow cosplayer who swapped tips and techniques. Thank you to everyone who adopted me and let me adopt them, and to everyone not here who has been following along on instagram and twitter. Double triple quadruple thanks and love to @lorna-ka . I love Star Wars and I love the incredible community around it, even if I only interact with tiniest little corner of it. 

What a wonderful thing we love, and my gods I am ready to sleep.
