skunk magazine

Carl Mydans :: ‘Animal Lending Library’. California children learn about wildlife by taking home borrowed skunks, rats and porcupines. This unpublished photo features student Dirk Schwartz with a skunk named Petunia or Blossom (the library had two skunks for lending). According to Life, the Sacramento lending library had 40 animals which circulated at the rate of 20 a week. July 14, 1952 source: The Life Picture Collection/Getty Images on Instagram
