A/N: I have been planning to post this
imagine for over a year now. Yes, I wrote the second part of this
story before I even had a Tumblr account. I just waited for the
perfect day to upload it. Today was my last day of school. I’m so
happy and that’s why this imagine is fluffy af. Summer I’m coming.MASTERLIST
I still remember the day I first saw
her. She walked in and brightened up the whole room. She had
immediately got my attention. I couldn’t take me eyes off her. Warmth
and sunlight seemed to radiate from her body.
“This is Y/N, she is going to do the
chart update from now on” my boss at BBC Radio 1 announced,
introducing me and Phil to our new co worker. She was roughly the
same age as me.
“I’m Dan, it’s really nice to meet
you.” I greeted her with a handshake. She smiled at me, making my
heart skip a beat.
The chart update was always right after
‘The Internet Take Over’ that’s why we had to cooperate sometimes. Y/N
would come in early from time to time to listen to our radio show.
I’d stay longer to listen to hers. We talked during coffee breaks and
once in a while I’d meet her on the way to work. I think I had never
enjoyed working that much. Talking to her was always the highlight of
my day. Whenever I’d hear her soft voice on the radio I’d instantly
turn it up and listen in awe. She was funny and whatever left her
mouth sounded entertaining.
Let’s just say it was only a matter of
time until something would happen, and it did.
“Hey, there emo boy.” Y/N
cheerfully greeted me, as I held the door open for her.
She nodded her head, signalizing a
thank you, as she walked into the BBC main building.
I followed right after her. She always
called me emo boy, because of the black clothes I wear. It was a
little joke just between me and her. Once she even talked about the
radio show of Phil and emo boy live on air. We climbed the stairs to
the third floor together.
“Well, Sugar Sprinkles, how was your
weekend?” I asked, walking next to her.
“Sugar Sprinkles, really Dan ?!” She
laughed and rolled her eyes. Since she wouldn’t stop calling me emo
boy I started to make up cute nicknames for her as well. She focused
on the fact that I wore black all the time while I emphasised the
fact that she was literally sunshine on legs.
“Is Honey Bunny better ?” I asked
with a cheeky smirk, as we had reached the second floor.
“No !” she shouted, shaking her
head. There was still a smile on her lips though.
“What are you doing today in the
evening, Bubble Pancakes ?”
We had reached our floor. ‘The Internet
Take Over’ was going to start in about 15 minutes. I hadn’t really
thought about my question before talking. I had only concentrated on
finding another stupid nickname. I guess my subconsciousness must
have acted. Instead of complaining about Bubble Pancakes she stopped
“Wait, is emo boy asking me to go on
a date with him ?” she giggled, raising an eyebrow.
I could have said no. But I didn’t.
That’s the story of how I met and
started dating the love of my life.
“That day was probably the best day
of my life.” I told Y/N, reminiscing. The date I asked her out for
that day wasn’t our last. We have been in a relationship for over a
year now. It was about 5pm and we were snuggled up on the couch in
the lounge. Her head rested against mine and she counted the
birthmarks on my neck and face. Right now she couldn’t stop giggling
at my ‘sad dimple’.
“I love you, Bubble Pancakes.” I
whispered, interrupting her laughter with a kiss. Yes, that nickname
stayed. She’d always roll her eyes or sigh whenever I used it but she
also couldn’t help smiling like an idiot.
“I finished counting, emo boy. You
have exactly 13 birthmarks and two incredibly adorable dimples. Let’s
do something else now!”
She started running without a warning.
She just took off, my hand intertwined with hers. I tried keeping up
with her now fast pace. That was one thing my incredibly long legs
were good for.
“Isn’t the sunset beautiful.” she shouted even
though I was standing right next to her. I just nodded looking
towards the giant source of light. What was up with that girl? 30
minutes ago we were cuddling on the sofa and now we were exploring a
huge field outside of town. How could she go from making out with me
to 'Let’s go on an adventure’ in the matter of seconds ?
She finally stopped running once we
reached the middle of the field. We were both surrounded by knee high
grass. The sky showed various colours and the last rays of sunshine
lighted up both of our faces.
“You should wear more colours.” she
whispered, resting her head against my chest. She was obviously
referring to my choice of always wearing black clothes.
“It’s finally summer, Dan.” she
breathed and kissed my pale face.
“I know you think it’s hot when I wear
black.” I smirked, totally ignoring her last statement.
She couldn’t help but grin just because
she knew that I was right. Instead of laughing with her I grew silent
and thought about what she had said. What if it was finally summer
and not just literally but metaphorically ? I had a best friend,
after 18 years without one. My job was not a job but a hobby of mine.
And the girl that brightens up every room was in was my
girlfriend. I was not another sad story. I could even sing along to
happy bubble gum pop songs without feeling like I’m lying. I have
left all those sad teenage years behind.
I noticed that she was staring at me.
Suddenly I wrapped my long arms around her body and kissed her with
all the freshly built up hope. It was like she erased every dark
moment, every 'I hate myself’, every failure, every 'you are not good
enough’. She erased all those moments and replaced them with bursting
light. Our lips parted and I was overwhelmed by the emotions I felt.
“You are right. It’s finally summer.”
“I bet red would look good on you.”
she laughed, as I looked towards the sunset.
“Even if I start wearing colours,
you’d still be the most colourful thing in my life.”
