Sketcharound’s 2015 Spring Summer collection offers the Jenny Holzer-style statements “Originality surpasses gender” and “simplicity compacted with delicacy”. The collection is based on ‘grounded theory,’ which is a systemic methodology in social sciences for generating new ideas. (text)
Earlier in May, I introduced you to a new Hong Kong fashion brand called Sketcharound. (You can see the post here)
Having recently launched their second collection, Sketcharound opens its first pop up shop at Noveltylane.com Concept Store, Hong Kong. I went to the press preview last Thursday and finally met the two designers behind the brand, Priscilla and Kan.
One of the highlights of the pop up shop is the exclusive collection “Fuschia-Lash” with Noveltylane.com. The collection consists of seven selected styles from the AW 2014 collection, each features a vibrant fuschia tone crossing to highlights the tailoring details.
I had a nice chat with the lovely designer-duo that day and learned a lot about every detail they insisted on each of their designs. They told me that they did a lot of experiments to ensure the wearability and quality of each garment; for some of the styles, they even hand painted each piece themselves to guarantee a uniqueness to every item.
Apart from creating the lookbook themselves, they also designed, built and painted the pop up shop display. On top of that, they made use of the painted acrylic from their fashion show, turning them into handmade bracelets and giving them as a gift to every guest.
Being a jewelry and accessory designer myself, it was so nice for me to meet some like-minded people who are also hands-on, like to experiment and care about the uniqueness of their design. I see their passion and the thoughtfulness of the whole branding process. If you also like minimal, unique and detail-oriented fashion, do check out their pop up shop which will be open until the end of October.
