skate people

Anyway @ all these posts about Yakov going bald bc his students are so Extra™️

Like??? Where??? Do you think???? They learned it from???

I’m sorry but like it’s way too much of a coincidence that Victor “I Flew Halfway Around the World to Coach a Boy Who Once Grinded On Me At a Party” Nikiforov, Yuri “I Performed an Erotic Strip Tease on Ice for a Boy I Met Two Days Go” Plisetsky, Mila “I Deadlift People Who Annoy Me” Babicheva and Georigi “I Dedicated an Entire Skating Season to the Memory of My Shitty Ex” Popovich all just HAPPENED to have the same skating coach who incidentally spends more time with them than anyone else

Like idk but? Hiring your ex wife to coach your new protege in a thinly veiled attempt to win her back? Moving in with said ex-wife and new protege at the slightest suggestion? Agreeing to coach a rival skater on a moment’s notice for the sake of True Love?

These do not seem like things that someone not well-versed in the ways of melodrama and histrionics would do.

Also I’m 100% sure that Yakov proposed to Lilia after seeing her dance literally once ok like that definitely happened.

Anyways Yakov teaches more than figure skating, being extra is a lifestyle and he’s the true world champ, ty ty

17 MAY 1991 -  happy birthday Misha Ge! (x)

I figured out why Viktor is so awful at seducing Yuuri

And I mean, for someone who has pretty much yearned for a guy for an entire year, it’s not like Viktor didn’t have enough time to mentally imagine and plan how he was going to seduce Yuuri.

Like, what was this, Viktor? Just show up at his house naked unannounced, and immediately expect him to sleep with you? It literally took Viktor several months to even get a kiss from Yuuri.

So, why is he so appalling?

To be honest, I think it’s because Viktor has never pursued anybody himself. From a young age, he’s always been Viktor Nikiforov Figure Skating Legend, people naturally gravitate towards him. In general, too, rather than romantically.

We do know that Viktor has at some point done something with someone, as he mentions it in episode two. However, we see after his engagement to Yuuri that he’s neglected love in his life until now. Which would kind of make sense if Viktor only ‘dated’ people if they approached him, as relationships kind of need to be a mutual thing.

Also, don’t forget the Eros routine. As we learn, it’s a huge part of Viktor’s personality that he feels the need to surprise the audience. So, if he was planning to skate it, he must therefore not view seduction as a part of his own personality.

So Viktor has never courted anyone before, and has no experience on how to do it. I mean, who does he have for influences? Yakov? Georgi? Christophe? He had no hope.

Question for readers of older Iron Man comics:

Was Tony always a genius? Like I know he still built the Iron Man suit in dire conditions, etc, but was he always the level of genius they put him at today or was he a particularly smart, engineering-minded billionaire that the comics kept upping and re-upping his smarts to keep up with the universe constantly being built and rebuilt?

Just some old rollerboyf doodles before bed I guess. I don’t think I ever posted these here, so

The salty Yuzuru fans regarding Nathan Chen.

~artistry in skating is over~

~Nathan Chen is the Justin Bieber of skating~

Anyway Nathan may not be at Yuzuru’s level yet PCs wise, but he does have ‘artistry’ in his skating he’s not just ‘jump to jump to jump’. He’s not Justin Bieber he’s an incredible athlete that’s helping to drive this sport forward at a breathtaking rate. He’s an innovator and there’s a damn good chance he’s this sport’s tomorrow.

I’ll give you that in the last ¼ or so of his program at 4c he looked like he was just trying to get through it and it tarnished his presentation, and also that his free wasn’t near as stunning as it was at Nationals, but you’re wrong if you think he’s just jumps. Yuzuru’s amazing, but he got beat fair and square (it’s not like he was at his best either, he can be so much better and he DID still beat Nathan in the free) and Nathan wasn’t overscored.

Please do not forget that Yuzuru Hanyu is an actual, real person who deserves to be seen as such and not just as a reference to your favourite anime, especially now after he won the world cup for the second time. This goes for every other figure skater too btw. It’s okay if Yuri on Ice got you into figure skating or whatever, but Yuzuru Hanyu is not Yuri and he should be known and appreciated for the fact that he is an outstanding figure skater and not for the comments on his performances saying that he is definately Yuri. Thank you.
