skate guard

PSA to all Yuri On Ice cosplayers

DO NOT bring or wear figure skates to conventions or gatherings.

Even if you have skate guards, unless it is an actual ice skating event KEEP THE SKATES AT HOME.

Figure skates can be incredibly dangerous when not used for their intended purposes.

If you need reminding of just how dangerous wearing live steel on your feet is, Google what happened to hockey player Clint Malarchuk but be warned, images are very gruesome and there is a LOT of blood involved.

  • Noctis: *wearing an arm brace* Okay, the story behind this is really complicated, so-
  • Ignis: It's not complicated. He went skating without his wrist guards, he fell, he hurt himself. Simple.
  • Noctis: Okay, look, they weren't in my backpack, or on the dining room table, or on top of the fridge.
  • Ignis: Which is interesting, because today as I was rushing to the aid and comfort of the young prince, I tripped over his wrist guards in the driveway.

So i’m rewatching yuri on ice and i’m on episode 5 and i noticed something.

Viktor Nikiforov is actually bipolar af.

First, when Yuri is stepping off the ice after a practice Viktor gets pissy at him because of what Minami had said to Yuri the day before. Viktor is upset because Yuri is unfocused and not motivated to skate after thoughts of his ‘shameful past’. So Viktor slams his skate guards down and walks away.

Then not even 5 minutes later when Yuri is getting ready to skate and Minami is freaking out we see Viktor being fairly nice to Yuri as he puts stuff on his lip, CALLS YURI STUNNING (!!!!!!!), and hugs Yuri before he gets onto the ice.

This my friends is how much Viktor Nikiforov loves Yuri Katsuki and can’t stay mad at him for five minutes.
