▷ Jimin Angst

❥ “I think about you a little more than I should..”

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7 | Part 8 | Part 9

You read the last text message over and over again, each time sobbing harder because of the pain in your chest.

You never thought that leaving him would be so painful and hard for you. Each passing day, you felt weaker and weaker, the longing for his love and touch growing every second.

But you had him now. He needed you, just like you needed him. He changed your whole life, making you realize that you could love someone even more than you’ve ever imagined.

He made you realize that you had to be strong. For him and for yourself..

You snapped out of your thoughts when your felt the bed beside you dip slowly, two arms wrapping around your body and squeezing you tightly as much as he could.

Smiling softly, you hugged him back and closed your eyes, relaxing to the feeling of his soft and warm touch.

He belonged to you and you belonged to him. And you were ready to do everything not to change that.

Jimin sighed as he looked at his phone screen. It was another day and he had send another text message, just like everyday since you left.

At first, the text messages were expressing his anger and disappointment he felt towards you. But as time flew by, his anger turned into pain and the disappointment vanished away as if it had never been there before. He started missing you like crazy and hoped to find you as soon as he could.

But just like everyone, he had times too, where he felt like he was losing his hope, fighting for something no one could guarantee he would achieve someday.

Nonetheless, he believed in his love and promised himself every single day that he would find you.

Standing up from the bench, Jimin tucked his phone into his pocket and started walking with heavy steps towards his apartment.

Suddenly, he felt something bump against his leg and heard a silent whimper.

Turning his head around, Jimin looked down and saw a little boy sitting on the ground. The little boy was observing his knees carefully with his teary eyes, making sure not to touch the wound that was forming on his them.

Jimin crouched in front of him immediately. “Hey, are you okay?”

The little kid looked up at him with his teary eyes without saying anything and in that moment, Jimin felt his heart break into million pieces.

Reaching out for his purse, he took out two bandaids and covered the wounds with them so the little kid couldn’t be able to see them.

Patting his head, Jimin smiled at him. “Next time, be a little bit more careful, okay buddy?”

He watched how the teary eyes of the boy in front of him turned into amazed and happy ones. “Buddy? Can I really be your buddy?”

Jimin smiled widely at the question and nodded immediately. “Of course! But first, we need to find your mommy or daddy so you can go home safely, ok?”

Just before the kid could answer his question, they heard a panicked voice nearing them, making them turn their head towards the voice.

“Jihyun! You promised me you wouldn’t run away like that again! You scared the crap out-”

“Mommy!”

Jimin froze the minute he saw your face and heard the words coming out of the little boy’s mouth.

You, on the other hand, looked at Jimin with widely opened eyes, your heart beating furiously against your rib cage.

Just before you could say anything, Jihyun spoke again.

“Mommy look, this hyung looks just like my daddy you showed me in the picture!”

You don´t listen // Montgomery de la Cruz

A/N: I´m from Germany so I have no idea how the schools in America are like.

It was a week ago that you last had spoken to Montgomery. The last time was at the party of Bryce Walker. You were so drunk, that he had to drive you home and walk you to your front door. And that´s when you did something you regretted. You kissed him, you kissed him in your drunken state, but the worst part was that he pushed you away. He didn’t even want to kiss you and it hurts. The problem was that you had a crush on that brown haired boy with freckles, but since that night you couldn´t look at him, you were too embarrassed.
You were walking through the hallways of Liberty High, making your way to communication class. You sat down in your usual seat in the classroom. You were the first on in class so you pulled out your phone, answering texts from Jessica and Sheri. “Hey Y/N, how are you?” You looked up and saw Sheri standing in front of you. “Hey Sheri, I´m good and you?” You greeted her with a small smile. “Good, I never thought I would see you here today?” She exhaled with a small smile. “What do you mean?” You tried to sound confused, but of course you knew what she meant. This was the only class you and Montgomery had together and to avoid him you skipped it. “You skipped this class for almost a week.” She said and you rolled your eyes. “Well, I´m here now.” You answered and she nodded, sitting down in front of you and started conservation about something that happened during cheerleader practice. People started to gather in and with them also Montgomery and Bryce; of course they had to sit down on our table. “Hello Lady´s.” Bryce greeted you smirking. Sheri greeted him with a short hello while you just nodded. “Y/N, haven’t seen you in a while, you look good.” Bryce shoots you a smirk, winking at you. “Thanks Bryce.” You said and rolled your eyes. You sighed in relief when Mrs. Bradley came through the door and began her lesson.
For the rest of the class you scribbled in your text book, avoiding every glance Montgomery shoots you. After the bell rang you almost stormed out of the class room, making your way to the library, the only quiet place and also the best one to avoid Monty. “Y/N, wait a minute.” You heard Montgomery shout after you and you quickened your pace. He turned you toward him and looked at you confused. “What?” you snapped pushing his hand off of your shoulder. “You have been avoiding me.” He simply stated and you rolled your eyes. “I have not and now excuse me I still have an essay to write.” You tried to walk away from him but he stopped you again. “Is it because of what happened at your porch last week?” he asked and you took in a sharp breath. You shook your head no, avoiding his gaze. “Come on, Y/N/N, look at me.” He whispered and grabbed you hand, squeezing it slightly. “Stop Monty.” You said and pulled your hand out of his grab. “Stop being nice. That makes hating you a lot harder.” You whispered and you knew it was childish but it was your way to protect yourself. “You hate me, but kissed me?” he asked clearly amused. “God, I take everything back. You´re an asshole.” You mumbled more to yourself and walked away from him, not only hurt and embarrassed but also pissed. “Come on, Y/N/N, it was only a joke.” You shook your head, tears starting to well up.

You sat in the library trying to focus on your essay. But every time you tried to form sentences your thoughts to that arrogant jock. Maybe it was your own fault. When you didn’t kissed him and controlled your emotion, you wouldn´t be in this situation. You could no longer pretend to see him just like a friend, like you didn’t fall for him.
Your phone, what was lying next to your text book, began to vibrate. You looked down and saw that it was Sheri, asking you if you want to go get a coffee with her after cheerleader practice. You told her that you will wait for her at the parking lot. After half an hour later you made your way into gym deciding to wait on the bleachers for Sheri.
When you stepped into the gym Sheri instantly spotted you. “Hey Y/N” she greeted you with a big smile and waved at you. Your gaze wandered around the gym and you spotted Montgomery. You thought about leaving again, but decided against it; it would look stupid and childish. So you sat down on the bleachers, pulling the book you were recently reading out of your school purse. You tried to focus on the words written in your book, but your eyes always wandered toward Monty. To say he look good in his baseball shirt and sweatpants was an understatement. You noticed that you began to bit your lips and instantly stopped, turning your attention back to your book.
“Hey Y/N, do you wanna play with my bat?” Bryce shouted flirty at you and the rest of the boys began to laugh; except for one jock who shoot daggers toward Bryce, what you didn’t noticed. “I think you couldn´t handle my swing, Bryce.” You shouted back, with a fake smile on your lips. The boys behind Byrce laughed and with them the Monty. But Bryce wouldn´t give up and walked toward you. “Well, but I can try. I could skip the rest of practice and we could go over to my house.” He leaned on his baseball bat smirking and winked. “In your dreams, Walker.” You looked back down at your book, feeling uncomfortable that the whole gym is watching the scene. “But we could make this dream come truth.” He smirked up at you and you sighed. “Stop talking before I throw up.” You shoot him another fake smile, hoping he would finally stop. He lifts his hands in defense and turned around, going back to his friends and continue practice. Your eyes meet Monty´s and he shoots you small smile.

You lay on your bed finally finishing your essay that was due in two days. A knock on your door tear you from your essay and in your doorway stand your mother a smile on her lips. “What is it, Mum?” you asked, returning the smile. “Well, there is this good looking boy standing in our living room, asking to see you.” She simply stated and you raised your eyebrows surprised. “Wait, what good looking boy?” you asked her confused, sitting straight up in bed. “You know the one with freckles. He says his name is Montgomery.” She answered and you let out a sigh. You got up and walked behind your mother downstairs. Midway down the stairs you stopped, looking at Monty with a frown on your face. He was talking to your father and they seem to get along, normally your father hates every male that comes near you. “What are you doing here?” you asked from your spot on the stairs and Montgomery turned around, a nervous look on his face. “Uhm, I wanted to talk to you.” He said and shoots you an even more nervous smile. “Are you two together? I mean is he your boyfriend?” asked your father and looked at you delightful. “No dad, we are not together.” You look at your father who held now a slight disappointed look. “Come Monty, we´re going to my room.” You said and began to walk upstairs again, hearing him sprinting toward you. “Keep the doors open you two.” Your mother shouted after Monty and you. “God, Mom stop.” You mumbled, but by her snickering you knew she heard you.

Montgomery stands in the middle of your room, looking at your pictures and the books in your bookshelf. “You have a lot of books.” Montgomery mumbled scanning through your books. “So that´s what you wanted to talk about?” you asked amused, standing next him after closing the door. “No, of course not.” He said, finally turning toward you. “So that night when you kissed me, I pushed you away, not because I didn’t want to kiss you but because you were drunk. I doesn´t want to take advantage of your drunken state.” He said and you laughed sarcastically, which earned you a confused look from Montgomery. “You don’t have to say this so I feel better. It´s ok. You didn’t want to kiss me, it was my fault that my feelings overwhelmed me, so no need to feel bad.” you rambled looking at your hands. “Like always you don’t listen. I want to kiss you since middle school, but you were drunk and I wasn’t sure you really wanted to kiss me, so I pushed you away.” Your head immediately shoot up when his words had sunken in. “You want to kiss me since middle school?” you asked surprised, a small smile forming on your lips. “Well, yeah. Your lips look really kissable.” He mumbled and you chuckled at his words. “Same goes to you, I guess.” You whispered smiling at him. “Why didn’t you kiss me, when you wanted to do it since middle school?” you asked amused, lifting an eyebrow playfully and he rolled his eyes. “We´re friends and I didn’t want to ruin it. You´re one of the few people who put up with my bullshit.” He whispered taking a step toward you. “Yeah, you can count yourself lucky, de la Cruz.” You smiled at him, also taking a step forward. He hummed approvingly, his hands wandering to your hips, pulling your slowly closer to him, while your hands rested on his triceps, making their way to his shoulders and then to his neck. Before you could make another remark his lips were pressed against yours. You pulled him closer by his neck, enjoying the kiss. It was better than that night. He gingerly bites down on your bottom lip, which elicited a moan from you. Monty used the opportunity to deepen the kiss, while he pulled you closer by your hips, your hands tugging slightly at his hair. When someone cleared their throat you broke away, panting slightly. You looked at your mother, who held an uncomfortable smile on her lips. “Yes mom?” you asked; your cheeks flushed out of embarrassment. “I, uhm, just wanted to bring you kids something to drink and a snack.” She mumbled, putting the tablet down on your desk. After making her way back to the door she looked at you with a smile on her face. “So you´re sure he´s not your boyfriend?” she asked and you groaned in annoyance. “Bye mum.” You said and pushed her out of the door, closing it behind her. “That was awkward.” You said laughing. Monty nodded and walked toward you, pulling in another kiss. This was one was much shorter, but not less sweet. Monty pulled away, too early for your liking, smiling down at you. He leaned his forehead against yours before asking: “So, tomorrow Monet´s after school?”

“Are you okay?”

Chriss wanted to cringe at that question. Not only was it an inquiry that he hated, but the person who asked it, made it even worse. He hadn’t spoken to Nastasiya since he’d left her apartment. So, her phone call was rather unexpected.

“I’m fine.”

“I’m glad. You were very sick and you left before you were able to fully recover.”

“I didn’t feel like intruding anymore.”

“You weren’t an intrusion, Chriss. Something happened to you and you needed to help. Whether you wanted to take it or not.”

That was true. Chriss hated asking for help and any chance he got, he didn’t ask for it. Opting out to get things done himself. Guess that was just another thing he and his father had in common.

Theme ~ Best friends

Pairing ~ Choi Seung hyun x Reader

Featuring ~ Bigbang

Rated ~ Angst/Fluff/Smut

Series Masterlist

You wanted to explain to Seung hyun what was going on but you couldn’t without telling him what happened with your boss and that was not an option, he was so protective of you that you were scared he would do something just like Jiyong wanted to and you couldn’t let him ruin his career for something so silly, or for you.

You were crazy with worry the last few days that Jiyong would let it slip but clearly from that phone call he had kept his promise and hadn’t told anyone your secret.

You had successfully avoided your boss since that night, sneaking out early most days so you wouldn’t have an accidental meeting out in the prying eyes of the office but that had made you slip behind on your work. Instead of going home early you decided to stay back late and work knowing your boss never did the same thing so there was no chance you would see him.

(this is something that I found that I had written months ago and just decided to post it!!)

The day you looked at your best friend as more than a friend, you knew you were screwed. It happened out of nowhere. You just woke up one morning and looked at him differently. You were never going to tell anyone, you weren’t stupid. That would just lead to Jimin being freaked out and nothing being the same. Risking your friendship with Jimin was not worth the little crush you had on him.

Deciding that you couldn’t fall back asleep, you got up to start the morning. Walking into the kitchen to get some breakfast, you didn’t notice your best friend standing there.

“Holy shit! Jimin, you scared me!” You yelled, clutching your chest.

“What’s gotten you so jumpy?” Jimin asks, laughing while opening the refrigerator

Summary: Park Jimin had it all — good grades, a place as the soccer team’s captain and, more than that, the broken hearts of at least half the campus’ population. Though, one thing he did not have was someone willing to break his heart and, after you were dragged inside a miraculous plan to play that part, the last thing counted on was the preposterous idea that, perhaps, you could fall for him as well.

A/N: Can you believe that I managed to come up with a quick update? Me neither.

Monotone, drowning in tedium — that was how your first Monday class begun. Somewhere deep inside your mind, you could hear your teacher going on about an empty subject, filling the air inside the classroom with disconex sentences and incomprehensible claims; your own perception far beyond the yellowed walls of that room. Perhaps, sitting on the last row was not helping your lack of focus; but, much to your personal bliss, Jennie was right next to you, taking the notes you would make sure to use later.

In all honesty, your mind was in the same location as before: the party. Equivalent to what unfolded during the weekend, the story repeated itself amidst your tired daydreams; dragging your consciousness towards the bubbling, divergent feelings inside your chest. Unlike what you first expected, the anguish and guilt of your acts did not last longer than the ride back to your dorm, instead morphing into a sense of curiosity. After all, there were so many details that you waited to be presented with — the second step, the collateral damage it would have on your friendship and, more than anything, Jimin’s reaction.

You just did not expect it would come that instant.

The cloudy preoccupations of your chaotic thoughts dissipated as a light buzz sounded below you, your phone lighting up with a new notification. With a frown, you stared down at the illuminated screen, eyes falling to the white text.

The second you read it, your heart skipped a beat.

Bucky snapped his fingers in front of your eyes, calling out your name. After what seemed like hours, you blinked and looked up at him, your face crestfallen. He slowed down the car significantly as he leaned over to you, to try to see your screen.

You shook your head and brought the phone to your chest. “No.”

“What’s wrong with you? What did you see?”

Before you could answer, Nat’s screeching voice tore through the device’s speaker and you startled, bringing it up to your ear.

“H-Hello?”

“Did you see it? Oh, my God! Did you see the freakin’ picture?”

“Yes,” you answered curtly. “I saw it.”

What’s up, it’s Alexei!

When Ngozi posted this picture yesterday of young post-draft Tater “trying his darnedest to answer press questions in English,” I thought, “You know, I could make a play fic out of that.” Which is what led to the following 2700+ words about Tater and his ESL tutor.

Many, many thanks to @ktheunready for being my Russian authenticity consultant and beta!

Georgia Martin stood at the back of the media scrum and watched Alexei Mashkov stumble his way through his post-draft interview, saw the way his fingers kneaded the brim of the brand-new Falconers’ cap he’d been handed for the initial official photos, saw the way his eyes widened and stayed intently glued to whoever was asking him a question, like he was afraid he’d miss some key bit of meaning if he blinked.

She pulled out her phone and made a call.

***

«No, Mama, I promise, my room is very nice. The family is very nice. Everything is very…»

«Let me guess, nice? »

Alexei sighed. «Yes.»

«You know I don’t doubt you, right, Alyosha? I’m not worried you can’t do this. You will be fine. But I know this is your first time to live in another country, with none of the boys from your teams here. It can be… hard, sometimes. I know.»

«Yeah, Mama, I know. You told me.»

«Are you telling me you’ve heard the stories of my youth too many times?» she asked in mock outrage.

«No, no!» he laughed. «Of course not.»

«Good. I should think not.» He could picture her face exactly, and it made him smile. «I’m glad your host family seems nice, Alyosha. I’m sure you will have many friends in no time.»

He flopped back on the bed again and stared at the ceiling. «I hope so.»

«We’ll talk again soon. Love you, son.»

«Love you, too.»

He hung up and let his phone rest on his chest. He’d been to America before. He’d thought he’d known what it would be like, that it wouldn’t be so bad. Different, yes, but there would be so many interesting new things to see, and new teammates, and he certainly knew how to play hockey. What he had failed to take into account, apparently, was how exhausting it was to try to function in English all day. For a US hockey team, the Falconers’ roster was shockingly low on Russian players, so his host family was one of the French Canadian ones. To their credit, they did speak some Russian, but it was hardly enough to have a real conversation. Alexei felt like he’d been practically mute all day.

Felicity opened her refrigerator in search of the leftover takeout she could’ve sworn was still in there somewhere. To her dismay, all she was greeted with was mostly empty shelves. She was not a big grocery shopping person to begin with, and with everything they had been dealing with over the past couple of weeks, she couldn’t remember the last time she pushed a cart through those fluorescent lit aisles.

“How did Oliver manage to be the Green Arrow and keep our refrigerator stocked,” she muttered to herself as she checked a container of yogurt to discover it had expired months ago.

Her eyes caught the box from Oliver’s party the night before and she slid it out, remembering that there had been a few leftover slices of cake. They were on summer break after all, so cake was an acceptable dinner… right?

She was debating eating it straight from the box versus preserving some of her dignity and getting a plate when she remembered that she didn’t have to spend her evening sitting at her counter eating cake alone.

Setting the box down and reaching for her phone, she hit her first number on speed dial and waited while it rang. Which wasn’t a long wait since he picked up before the first ring had finished.

“Are you okay?”

“Yes… Am I only allowed to call when I’m in danger?” she teased.

There was a pause. “Well, no I just—“

“Do you want to come over tonight?” She needed to get the words out before he gave her enough time to talk herself out of it. She could practically see his eyebrow rise in that way it did when she said something that could have multiple interpretations and she hastily added, “There’s just leftover birthday cake and I was about to eat it but I realized that you should probably get dibs on it since it was for your birthday.” And also, I just really want to see you. “I promise this isn’t a ruse. But if you’re busy I understand and—”

“No,” he interrupted her. “No I’m not busy. I’m just finishing up at City Hall and then I can be right over.”

The corners of her mouth flicked up in a small smile at the eagerness he was trying so hard and yet failing to hide in his voice.

Detective Stiles Stilinski gets called to the National Zoo in D.C. because a couple drunk tourists have broken into the giraffe enclosure. It isn’t something he’d usually have to deal with, but they’re short staffed this week and he’d never pass up a trip to the zoo.

By the time he gets there zoo security has it taken care of and Officer Miller has them cuffed. Stiles has Miller take them in and he sticks around to get witness statements.

That’s how Stiles meets the most beautiful man he’s ever seen.

Derek Hale is a doctor of animal behavior and pretty high up in the zoo hierarchy, he’s also perfect. From his beard to his smile to his excitement when he talks about his job, Stiles is hooked.

He might end up talking with Derek for thirty minutes longer than necessary, but who could blame him? Derek gave him a great statement for the case, even though they don’t really need many statements since there were cameras and they have the trespassers in custody already.

But Stiles can’t ask Derek out while he’s on duty, that isn’t professional and Stiles is actually incredibly professional. He figures he’ll just forever be in love with the idea of Derek.

So he finished taking statements and he gives a few people is card so they can call him if they remember anything else. When he gets back to the precinct he types up the witness statements and then gets ready to head out for the day.

Before he leaves his phone rings. Stiles almost doesn’t answer because he just wants to be home on his couch with his cat pining over a guy he barely knows and will likely never see again.

“It might have been in my head, but I feel like we had a connection and I haven’t laughed that much since I moved to D.C. last year,” Derek said after Stiles answered, “I’m guessing you can’t ask someone out while you’re on the clock.”

“That’s correct,” Stiles said, biting back a smile while Officer Miller gave him a knowing look. Stiles made sure the captain wasn’t around before flipping her off.

“Well when are you off duty?”

Stiles looked down at his watch, “Thirty seconds ago.”

“Want to grab dinner?” Derek asked, sounding nervous.

“Do you like barbecue?” Stiles asked, putting his jacket on while he spoke.

“Sure do.”

“Meet me at at Pete’s Barbecue in an hour?” Stiles said.

They ended up talking for hours. It turned out that Stiles was into more than just the idea of Derek. They had a ton in common, from a love of Star Wars to being west coast guys trying to make it on the east coast.

By the time Stiles kissed Derek goodnight outside of Derek’s apartment that night he had decided he was going to marry him.

Spoiler alert: He does.

Some Mob headcanons

I wrote these a while ago and forgot about them, might as well post them now I guess

  • Poor sense of direction
    • he has no idea where things are in relation to each other
    • always sticks to the streets he knows, which makes him take enormous detours to get to places sometimes
      • ((It’s not so bad, he likes walking and looking at the sky for a few hours anyways))
    • when walking with others, he lets them lead the way and barely pays attention to where he’s going
      • this gets problematic when they go to a place together but then leave seperately. Reigen figured this out after he called Mob 3 hours after a job, all “sorry for calling you twice in a row but can you come over again?” and Mob says sure he can, but it might still take him a while to find his way out of these woods
        • there weren’t any woods near that job. How the hell did that happen. Also he isn’t sure, but that might be a bear in the distance
          • ((Reigen has never tracked down Mob’s phone signal this quickly. They always go back to the office together after that))
  • Very, very bad with numbers
    • not only when it comes to math, but with numbers in general
    • sometimes reads the time wrong or just immediately forgets it again after looking at the clock, is frequently surprised by how late/early it is
    • actually doesn’t know people’s birthdays. You’re insanely lucky if he remembers the month
      • he is painfully aware of this though. He forgot Ritsu’s birthday once when they were very little. Since then he makes sure to mark everyone’s birthday in every calendar and to set a few thousand alarms on his phone to remind him in time
    • can’t estimate numbers for the life of him
      • Reigen wants to call in for one of these TV games, like Guess how many paper cranes are in this jar, you can win 100k Yen! and Mob just looks at this jar for a while and goes “5 billion.” Because there’s gotta be a lot in there right, and that’s a big number, and no he isn’t joking, not on purpose anyway, why would you think that Master?
        • ((Reigen grumbles unhappily and finally strikes clairvoyance from his secret list of possible Mob powers that he keeps in his desk))
  • Eats spicy food like a badass
    • as in, really spicy
    • as in, Ritsu’s eyes are already watering just from looking at that habanero sauce and Teru is desperately pretending to be okay after trying just one tiny bite, but he’s glowing red and tears are streaming down his face and he actually cannot breathe, somebody help him
    • Mob doesn’t really get it, tries another spoon full just to be sure and admits that “it does tingle a bit”
    • Shou tries to turn it into a youtube challenge, the Eat what Mob eats without dying challenge, but it doesn’t really gain traction
      • ((mostly because nobody can see what’s going on in the videos, he’s way too excited and they turn out all shaky. Also Ritsu keeps pushing the camera away))

“I remember now, Jieun,” you said. “I remember what happen that night, and what happened after. I know that you and Jungkook were a thing, and that he rejected me right away.”

“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner,” Jieun whispered, her own eyes watering. “I didn’t want to upset you or confuse you. It hurt you so much the first time, I didn’t want to see you go through it again.”

“I just don’t understand,” you replied, your voice strained with frustration. “Did you like him? Do you still like him? Is that why you tried to hide your relationship with him from me?”

“What? No! No, of course not,” Jieun exclaimed, her eyes widening with surprise. “I mean, I did have a bit of a crush on him, but our relationship was just physical. It ended as soon as you two figured out that you’re…you know, soulmates.”

“But I’m still confused,” you said, trying to hold off another wave of tears. “Jungkook said he wanted nothing to do me. But now he’s so sweet. He’s like two different people, and I don’t know which one is the real him.”

“Just talk to him,” Jieun smiled, rubbing your back gently. “He’s not as bad as you remember. I’m sure the person Jungkook is with you now is the person he wishes he was when you first met.”

“Still, why was he so cruel in the beginning?” you asked helplessly. “I don’t know if I can forgive that.”

“Only Jungkook can answer that,” Jieun replied softly. “Promise me you’ll talk to him, okay?”

You nodded, realizing that Jieun knew much more than she let on. She helped you to your feet and led you back to the couch. You decided you wouldn’t press her for more information, because in the end, you would need to talk to Jungkook eventually.

Even though you had decided to talk to Jungkook, you hadn’t been able to muster enough courage to confront him. He had no idea that you had regained your memories, so he was contacting you like usual. But when you picked up your phone to reply, the events of your first encounter flashed before your eyes. Every time that happened, you put your phone down and tried to ignore your heavy heart.

So, to put it simply, you had been ignoring Jungkook for the past week.

You had several unread messages in your inbox from Jungkook. Surely Jungkook was so popular, he wasn’t used to be ignored. The texts started coming less frequently, and you wondered if they would eventually stop all together. You figured–albeit guiltily–that if Jungkook really wanted company, he could find another girl.

One Thursday afternoon, you were reading through some notes sent to you by a classmate when you heard Jungkook’s thoughts whispering in the back of your head. You jumped, growing unaccustomed to your soulmate’s presence after such a long period of silence.

“Why isn’t she talking to me?” Jungkook thought, and although it was quiet in your mind, you could hear the worry in your voice. Your heart panged, and you felt bad for assuming the worst of Jungkook. Clearly, he was still thinking of you. “Did I do something wrong again?”

Again.

No, not again. The first mistake was hurtful enough. But of course, Jungkook had no idea that you remembered what he had done. You wanted to scream at him–make him hurt as much as he had hurt you. But you also just wanted to see him again, because you had grown to love the caring side of Jungkook that he had shown you.

“Maybe her condition got worse,” came Jungkook’s next thought, which sounded even more alarmed than the last. “I should stop by. Yeah–I’ll go after class.”

You jumped to your feet, wavering as you tried to catch your balance. Reaching out for your crutches, you hobbled out of your room and into the living room, where Jieun was playing guitar.

“Jieun!” you screeched, making her jump.

“Oh my god!” Jieun squealed, placing a hand over her heart dramatically. “Why are you screaming at me?”

“Jungkook’s coming here after his class is over,” you hurried to explain, your words overlapping in your haste. Still, Jieun understood what you were trying to say.

“Oh, so do you need me to leave?” Jieun asked, setting aside her guitar. “I can disappear for an hour or two.”

“No, no! Definitely do not leave,” you squeaked desperately. “I’m not ready to see him! I need you to cover for me. Tell him that I’m not home and that I forgot my phone here.”

“What? Y/N, are you avoiding him?” Jieun demanded, her face growing dark. “You promised me that you would talk to him! Ignoring your problems won’t make them go away.”

“I know, I know!” you replied. “And I will talk to him, but I’m just not ready yet. I need time to process everything so that I can face him properly. I don’t want to get upset and ruin things forever.”

Jieun’s face softened at your obvious fear, and she sighed. “I understand why you’re scared, but you should trust Jungkook a little bit too,” she argued. “He’s shown you that he’s a good guy, right? I get why you’re so hesitant, believe me. But I’m also seeing this from Jungkook’s perspective, too.”

“You’re my friend, be on my side!” you whined. Jieun rolled her eyes at you.

“Okay, don’t do that. I’m doing what’s best for you,” Jieun said. “Even though you don’t want to talk to him now, in the long run, you’ll be thanking me for making you two work out your problems.”

“I’ll thank you even more if you cover for me this one time,” you said, on the borderline of begging. “I swear I’ll talk to him after, Jieun! I just need a little more time. I’m really not ready to see Jungkook.”

“Fine,” Jieun sighed, falling back onto the couch in frustration. “I’ll cover for you this one time. You can go hide in your room or whatever.”

“Thank you so much, Jieun!” you cried. “I love you so much! You’re the best.”

“I know,” Jieun laughed. “And I’m assuming you ignored all of Jungkook’s attempts to contact you up until now?”

You looked away guiltily.

When Jungkook knocked on the door, you were hiding in your room. Your bedroom door was left slightly ajar, so if you peeked through, you could see the foyer. Jieun approached it, glaring at you as she did. You sent her a thankful smile.

Jieun opened the door, but you couldn’t see Jungkook.

“Oh, Jieun,” Jungkook said. You missed the sound of his sweet voice–you could admit that. “Is Y/N around? I haven’t heard from her since I saw her last week.”

“No, she’s not around,” Jieun replied easily. “Y/N had to spend the week with her grandparents, because they got really worried when they heard about the accident. And she was dumb enough to leave her phone at home.”

“Oh,” Jungkook said, sounding surprised. It sounded like a valid excuse, and you were a little shocked that Jieun was so good at lying. “I’m surprised she didn’t tell me earlier.”

“It’s because she didn’t know that she would be leaving until her grandparents showed up,” Jieun answered. She continued a bit sheepishly, “Actually, I was supposed to tell you that she would be out of town. I guess I forgot.”

“Yeah, guess you did,” Jungkook replied dryly. Jieun just shrugged and sent him a carefree smile. “When will she be back?”

“Sometime next week,” Jieun said. You gulped, realizing that she was giving you a deadline.

“Alright,” Jungkook said slowly. He sounded like he was getting ready to leave. “Thanks, I guess.”

Jieun began to close the door slowly. You exhaled in relief, feeling your body deflate. I can’t believe that worked, you thought. Jieun should have been an actress.

“What the fuck?” Jungkook’s voice suddenly thundered. Jieun jumped, backing away from the door. Jungkook burst through the foyer. “Why are you lying to me?”

“W-what are you talking about?” Jieun stammered.

“Y/N, where are you?” Jungkook called out, ignoring Jieun completely. “I know you’re here. I can hear you thinking right now.”

Oh shit.

“Yeah, oh shit is right,” Jungkook snorted. He scanned the apartment, finally settling on your bedroom door. He saw your face peeking through, and he smiled slightly and began to approach you.

Accepting your fate, you pulled yourself to your feet and opened the door, clutching the doorframe for support.

“Why are you avoiding me?” Jungkook asked once he stood in front of you, the hurt clear in his downtrodden expression. “Did I do something to upset you?”

“Yeah, you did,” you replied tiredly.

“What was it?” Jungkook questioned, confused. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt you, if I did. I thought you had a good time with me last week.”

“I did,” you smiled. “You’ve been really great since the hospital. You helped me a lot, and you’re fun to be around.”

“Then what’s the problem?” Jungkook asked, cocking his head adorably in confusion.

“It’s what happened before then,” you said simply.

Jungkook paled, his mouth opening slightly. His eyes lowered, and you could see his jaw clenching. He stood there quietly for a few moments, but eventually, he tentatively lifted his gaze to meet yours.

“You remember everything,” Jungkook said quietly. It wasn’t a question. He was biting his lip nervously, and you wondered why he was the nervous one when it was you who had been deceived all along.

“Not everything, but I remember enough,” you responded. You broke your eye contact with Jungkook, feeling overwhelmed. “I don’t understand you at all, Jungkook. Why are being so nice now?”

“It’s…it’s a really long story,” Jungkook sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “I can’t justify what I did, but if it means anything to you, I regret everything that happened that night. I didn’t mean a word I said.”

“Then why did you say what you did?”

“Like I said, it’s a long story,” Jungkook replied. “I can explain it to you if you’re willing to listen. I’ll tell you everything, I promise. And if you don’t want to see me after this, I won’t bother you ever again.”

“How do I know that what you’re saying is the truth?” you asked, looking at Jungkook for any signs of deceit.

“You’ll just have to trust me.”

You almost laughed–how could you trust him so easily again? But you remembered the boy who  had slept by your bedside in the hospital, and the boy who acted like you were the most interesting thing in the world. The boy who had promised to sing to you.

“Fine, I’ll listen,” you breathed.

You’d met Bucky a year ago in the small cafe you worked in, the same one you’d worked at since you were sixteen and you had no reason not to love your job. You loved talking to the regulars, people whose orders you had memorized and had ready the second they walked in. You loved meeting people from all walks of life; wealthy business owners constantly on the phone debating their next deal, tired mothers who just needed a caffeine fix to get through the day, broke college students looking for a cheap food option between the expensive restaurants that New York city offered.
